Incubus’ long-awaited eighth studio album is finally here, as the aptly titled 8 is now available for download and streaming. Incubus’ last album, If Not Now, When?, was released all the way back on July 12, 2011, leaving fans chomping at the bit for 8 to arrive.

8 is composed of 11 songs, and the album features production and mixing from Skrillex. I’m not going to lie, having that weirdo involved with the project makes me pretty nervous. But on the other hand, these dudes made “Drive,” so they get a lifetime pass from me.

What a goddamn classic. That’s enough of a trip down memory lane for one day, though. Let’s get down to brass tacks and listen to 8.

Ugo Ehiogu passed away Friday morning. He was a professional soccer player for over twenty years. He will be remembered for his many contributions to the sport. He was born in England, where he lived, coached, and played the sport he loved.

Ehiogu died from cardiac arrest. He originally fell ill to cardiac rest on the training ground for the team that he coaches. During this time, he was the coach of the Tottenham Hotspur U-23 Team, and mentored young soccer players to one day become a pro like him.

The London native began his professional career as a centre back in 1989 with West Bromwich Albion. In 1991, he joined Aston Villa, where he stayed for  nine years and 300 games. Ugo would compete for five more teams throughout his long and illustrious, including Middlesbrough, Rangers, Sheffield United, Leeds United (loan), and Wembley.

He originally retired in 2009, but came back for one more season in 2012, this time as a centre back for Wembley. In July 2014, he began his new career as the coach of the Tottenham Hotspur U-23 Team.

He was only 44-years-old at the time of his death. Tottenham head of development, John McDermott felt both shocked and saddened. “Words cannot express the shock and sadness that we all feel at the club,” McDermott said. “Ugo’s presence will be irreplaceable. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife, Gemma, and his family.”

Ugo collapsed on the training field Thursday morning. Tottenham medics rushed to aid this ailing coach. At 11:30 A.M., an ambulance and medical assistance car arrived.

Aaron Hernandez reportedly left three handwritten notes before he hanged himself in prison. The notes were for his fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, his four-year-old daughter, and apparently for his gay jailhouse lover who is also now on suicide watch.

Yahoo is also reporting that suicide notes have been found in Hernandez’s cell, though the outlet has not divulged the contents of the notes. TMZ reports that the third note was addressed to the general public.

What Happened?

According to The Daily Mail, three handwritten notes have been discovered in the cell where Hernandez hanged himself. The notes were said to have been written to his fiancee, his four-year-old daughter Avielle, and someone he may have had a relationship with in prison.

The Daily Mail also reports that the third letter was written to Hernandez’s gay prison lover, who has not been identified but is believed to have been the last person the former NFL star spoke to before taking his own life.

That man is reportedly under “eyeball to eyeball” suicide watch.

The notes were allegedly found alongside a Bible opened to John 3:16, the same verse that Hernandez had written with marker across his forehead.

The verse reads: “For God so loved the wrld that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The Daily Mail’s report continues that Hernandez had been planning suicide for weeks. The outlet says he gave away many of his personal belongings to fellow inmates and coated the floor of his cell in soap to ensure his suicide was successful.

“Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Henry N. Nields performed an autopsy on Mr. Hernandez on Wednesday and concluded today that the manner of death was suicide and the cause asphyxia by hanging,” stated Massachusetts District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. in a statement on Thursday.

“An investigation into the death by the State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Department of Correction investigators found cardboard jammed into the door tracks of his single-inmate cell to impede entry into the cell.”

The report continued: “There were no signs of a struggle, and investigators determined that Mr. Hernandez was alone at the time of the hanging.

“Mr. Hernandez was locked in his cell about 8 p.m. and no one entered the cell until a correction officer observed him at 3:03 a.m. and forced his way through the impeded door to render aid.”

Hernandez’s suicide came less than one week after he was acquitted of a double murder in 2012. He was already serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez’s death also came on the same day that the New England Patriots visited the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl.

Shelly Duncan – a 48-year-old cheerleading coach and wife of Tishomingo High School Supintendent Kevin Duncan -is accused of striking up a relationship with a 14-year-old student at the Oklahoma school.

What Happened?

Duncan reportedly spoke often with this 14-year-old student and promised to perform a sex act on him with “a cough drop in her mouth” and also touched him inappropriately at Tishomingo High School in Oklahoma.

The mother of the student branded Duncan a “predator” and said she had a “sickness” and not a “crush” after pursuing her teenaged son.

Duncan allegedly told the student that there was “nothing hotter” than a man who loved his family after the boy told Duncan that his mother was his “world.”

“She’s a predator,” the alleged victim’s mother told NewsChannel 4.

“I want to protect my son and any other children that are going to be after him. This isn’t something that just goes away. This isn’t a crush. This is a sickness. This is a disease. This is a problem that is not going to stop until it’s made to stop.”

The mother and the student are remaining anonymous.

Duncan was arrested last September by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation after the alleged victim’s mother notified police about the suspected “inappropriate relationship.”

Duncan and the boy traded flirty text messages, saying “love you” to one another and calling each other “boo,” according to an affidavit.

She added: “U have no idea what u mean to me”, according to the affidavit. “I’m here for the rest of ur life…I can’t imagine my life [without] u in it.”

Later that month, Duncan took her daughter and the boy to see a movie. The student told authorities that he and Duncan touched each other during the movie and kissed each other once the daughter fell asleep in the car on the way home. One week later, the teenager said Duncan picked him up and brought him to the school where she worked. He “put his hands down Duncan’s pants” and touched “that area down there.”

“She knew it was wrong, and that she could go to prison,” the boy said.

“She told him not to tell anyone because it could ruin a lot of stuff, such as her relationship with him, her relationship with her kids and her job.”

A spokeswoman for the school district told NewsChannel 4: “Tishomingo Public Schools will continue providing full cooperation with the authorities now that charges have been filed against Shelley Duncan.

“She remains suspended without pay, and she has not been on school property since September 16. We want to reassure our community that the district remains steadfast in providing a learning environment that is safe for all students.”

The National Football League has announced its schedule for the 2017 regular season. Get hyped, y’all.

As is customary, the reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will open the season on September 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. In 2016, the NFL opened the season with a Super Bowl rematch between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers (spoiler alert: the Broncos won again). The Atlanta Falcons were likely hoping for something similar as they must be hungry to avenge that embarrassing, Mortal Kombat-like soul-stealing defeat. Alas, it’s not meant to be.

Charles Cravens, a sheriff in Tennessee, pleaded guilty to federal civil rights charges after being accused of using his position to have sex with jail inmates.

Cravens, who works for the Fentress County Sheriff, pleaded guilty to three counts of honest services fraud and one count of deprivation of rights under color of law on Thursday, April 20,

According to court documents, Cravens, who resigned last week, is accused of summoning a female inmate to his office in July 2016 and having unprotected sex with her.

Cravens is also accused of discussing having sex with the same inmate as well as another in August 2016. The three allegedly formulated a plan to leave the jail together, and authorities say Cravens drove them to a vacant trailer where they engaged in unprotected sex.

The federal government says Cravens maintained a sexual relationship with these inmates for several months until they were released from jail. The most recent release was in February 2017.

The investigation reportedly also revealed Cravens drove a third inmate out of Fentress County to visit a relative this past February and, on the way back to jail, raised the subject of sex. The two then had unprotected sex inside his vehicle. Cravens is accused of sleeping with this inmate on at least one other occasion.

According to authorities, Cravens used his position to provide additional benefits to these inmates in exchange for their sexual relationships, including being transported personally by the sheriff from the jail to visit relatives, being allowed to go outside to smoke cigarettes, and providing money to relatives of the inmates to deposit into their jail commissary accounts.

If convicted, Cravens faces 20 years in prison for each count of honest services fraud and up to one year in prison on the civil rights charge.

Gabrielle Union, 44, is a smoking hot actress who kicked off her career in the 1990’s with a handful of recognizable roles from movies only us ’90s kids would look back on fondly. Let’s run through the list of her early roles: She’s All That (1999), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), Bring It On (2000), Love & Basketball (2000) Cradle 2 The Grave (2003) and Bad Boys II (2003). None of these movies were ever serious Oscars contenders, but they were movies most twenty-somethings grew up on, so it’s hard not to love Union for more than just her looks.

Born in Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska (shocker) before eventually transferring to UCLA where she earned a degree in sociology. She started her acting career with small roles here and there before starting to gain steam in the late ’90s.

Recently, Union has appeared in films such Think Like a Man (2013), Top Five (2014), The Birth of a Nation (2016) and Sleepless (2017). But where you can see Union most is court side at Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls games. In 2009, the starlet began dating NBA baller Dwyane Wade. The two were engaged in December 2013 and married August 2014.

Sigma Alpha Mu, a fraternity at American University in Washington, was forced to cancel a fundraising event for veterans based around badminton after the administrators became worried that its name could be “appropriating culture.”

The name chosen for the fundraiser was “Bad(minton) and Boujee,” after the popular song “Bad and Boujee” by Migos. Unfortunately, the university decided it could potentially be considered offensive.

The group was trying to raise money for an organization called Armor Down that reintegrates military veterans back into society and provides help for veterans with mental health problems. According to the president of the fraternity, Rocco Cimino, the name was meant as nothing more than a bit of fun, especially since the sport of badminton is “not exactly the most exciting thing in the world.”

Rocco Cimino, the president of Sigma Alpha Mu, Delta Beta, said the frat was simply trying to think of a catchy and engaging name for a badminton fundraiser, given that the sport is “not exactly the most exciting thing in the world.”

“We were trying to plan a philanthropy event that incorporated a sport, as those typically perform much better on our campus,” Cimino told Campus Reform. “Unfortunately, pretty much every sport we could think of was taken. We settled on badminton because we could use Migos’s ‘Bad and Boujee’ as a play on words to generate buzz.”

After planning the event, the fraternity received an email from American University Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life Colin Gerker saying the name shouldn’t be used as it could be perceived as cultural appropriation.

“I suspect that this event name will be criticized for the use of ‘boujee,’” Gerker wrote. “I know it’s a colloquial term and is popular via Migos, but we have had groups get reamed for appropriating culture before related to situations like this.”

“I want to continue empowering a culture of controversy prevention among FSL groups, and give y’all the opportunity to edit before we move forward,” he wrote. “The event will not be approved in [AU’s database for requesting venues] until you/your group comes back with a new name.”

Sigma Alpha Mu released a statement on their Facebook page:

esterday, our chapter decided to cancel our anticipated philanthropy event “Bad(minton) and Boujee.” We initially ran into trouble with the event on March 30th, when we were informed that our use of the word “boujee” classified as cultural appropriation, and the school would not host the event unless we changed the name.

Much of the hype surrounding the event was generated through the name, as it was obviously a play on words with Migos’s hit song, “Bad and Boujee.” We clarified this to the university alongside a breakdown of the critical acclaim the song has received from various pop culture outlets, many of which have criticized other song for appropriating culture in the past, but saw no issue. Migos has even performed the song on shows popular in the progressive community such as Ellen. Once we established this understanding, we then emphasized that the use of “boujee” in our event ended with the title.

The event was intended to benefit our local philanthropic partner, Armor Down. Armor Down seeks to help veterans returning to the United States from overseas use mindful techniques such as meditation to take care of their mental health as they readjust to civilian life. This is a cause we take very seriously as Armor Down was founded by Benjamin King, an alumnus of our chapter and current chapter adviser. We would not make a mockery of an event intended to benefit such an organization by dressing up. Instead, we stressed the fact that the event was simply a badminton tournament (as badminton is a very relaxing sport which can be used to de-stress) and nothing more.

Throughout our exchanges, the university took very long to get back to us, and our current email has been sitting for over a week without a response. As such, we have not had time to fundraise or organize the event with its verification in limbo and subsequently decided we had to cancel it.
Ben is the kind of person everyone loves as he works tirelessly to help those around him. It is deeply disappointing to our chapter that we were unable to host the event and raise money for an organization that does so much good with so little funding over semantics. We take responsibility for this short coming.

Andrew Lumish, 46, doesn’t sit on the couch watching TV or go fishing on his days off from work. Rather, Lumish spends almost every Sunday cleaning the tombstones of veterans.

What Happened?

The Florida man, who owns a cleaning service, brings a bucket, scrubs and cleaning products to cemeteries around Tampa and spends up to 10 hours scrubbing tombstones every week. It sounds a but unorthodox for a Sunday activity, but his motivations are pure.

Lumish wants to honor the contributions that the military service men and women have made to their country, which is why he invests so much time in restoring forgotten and decaying headstones. An aged tombstone can take as many as four months to thoroughly clean and Lumish takes that time to learn about the person to keep their memory alive.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Lumish has restored upwards of 300 gravestones. His act of kindness began when he was photographing historic graves and noticed several inscriptions related to the person’s military service.

He told the Tampa Bay Times in late 2015: “Something bothered me. Their final resting places were total disasters.

“They’d been neglected from the time they’d been buried.”

Lumish, who considers himself a history buff, researched the most effective ways to restore marble, granite and stone structures before beginning this crusade.

He told CBS News in 2016: “If [people] can’t read it at all, they can’t celebrate it, they can’t honor that person, they can’t appreciate that person.

“Whereas if you properly restore the monuments, you can begin an entire conversation, and potentially — in a figurative sense — bring that person back to life.”

When he completes a headstone, Lumish a before and after picture on his Facebook and Instagram page, both entitled The Good Cemeterian, to show the difference. He also shares the information he’s learned of the buried veteran.

Speaking to Reader’s Digest, Lumish said: “Some of these guys, who some consider heroes, would leave their wife for another woman, and leave six kids.

“It’s a war hero who won a medal of honor for serving in the Civil War and was thrown in jail for not paying child support. … It’s like the Real Housewives of 1985.”

Look, by no means is the situation with North Korea good. Not at all.

They aren’t big terrorism people and even if they were, they wouldn’t be competent enough to pull it off, especially in the States. And I’ll tell you right now — their military ain’t worth shit.

If Kim Jong-Un tried to launch any sort of heavy artillery missile, he’d blow up his own damn neighborhood. Momma Un, Brother Un, whatever family he hasn’t already murdered, instantly wiped off the face of the earth. Picture the Road Runner from Looney Tunes: that’s essentially Kim Jong-Un.

So, for those of you worried about nuclear war breaking out, don’t worry, because it isn’t going to happen with North Korea (but definitely keep your eye on Russia and China).

It’s just that time of the month where we find out everything that’s coming and going from Netflix. Coming up in May we have plenty of solid additions, but also have to say goodbye to some classics.

Master of None, starring comedian Aziz Ansari, will release its second season after the first generated great reviews from critics and fans. For those of you looking for a darker show to binge, Bloodline has you covered, as it’s set to release its final season. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will also be coming out with another season with star Ellie Kemper, also known as Erin from The Office. 

There will be some sad departures in May too unfortunately. All the Jurassic Park movies will be departing to that great dino-themes amusement park in the sky. Multiple seasons of Bob’s Burgers and American Dad! will also be getting the boot from the streaming service.

The eight-seed Chicago Bulls shocked the basketball world, going into hostile enemy territory and leaving with a 2-0 series lead over the one-seed Boston Celtics. The Bulls now have a commanding lead in the best-of-seven series, and Boston is going to have one helluva time digging themselves out of such a massive hole.

In Game 2, the Bulls got major contributions from a wide variety of players in their 111-97 victory. Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade lead the team in scoring with 22 points each, while Rajon Rondo filled the stat sheet with 11 points, nine rebounds, 14 assists, and five steals. Even Paul Zipser got into the action, scoring 16 points off of the bench.

For the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas lead the team in scoring for the second straight game. Thomas didn’t dominate in his usual fashion, though, as his 20 points came on a very inefficient shooting night. He hit just 6-of-15 from the floor, 1-of-5 from three-point range, and 7-of-13 from the free throw line.

Melissa Karen Tippet, a 48-year-old Jonesboro woman who was pulled over for careless driving, urinated on a police officer who was trying to search her.

According to a Jonesboro Police Department report, Tippet, 48, was driving a gray Ford Taurus without her headlights on around 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday, April 19, when local police pulled her over for a traffic stop.

When an officer stopped her in the 300 block of State Street in Jonesboro, he smelled an “odor of intoxicants coming from her” and found that her driver’s license had been suspended, the report said. He told Tippett to walk to his vehicle, but while she was walking, “she kept swaying and losing her balance,” police said. The officer said her eyes were “glossy red.”

A second officer attempted to search Tippett before she entered the vehicle. That officer told Tippett to stand in front of the vehicle and spread her feet apart for the search.

“Tippett would not spread her feet apart,” the officer said in the report. “I continued to give her verbal commands to spread her feet apart, and Tippett stated no multiple times.”

When the officer spread Tippet’s feet apart to search her, she began to urinate on him.

“As I was searching Tippett began to urinate, and my left hand was soaked in urine,” the officer said.

A  subsequent breathalyzer test revealed that Tippett’s BAC was .17, which is double the legal limit.

Tippett faces charges of DWI, driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked, aggravated assault upon a certified law enforcement officer, and careless and prohibited driving.

She is currently being held in the Craighead County jail in lieu of $2,525 bond and is set to appear in court on Monday, April 24.

MVP candidate James Harden carried the offensive load for the Rockets, as he finished with 35 points, four rebounds, and eight assists. Harden hit 7-of-17 from the floor, 3-of-7 from three-point range, and 18-of-20 from the free throw line.

For the Thunder, it was all about Russell Westbrook. The true MVP had a night for the record books, compiling a historically absurd triple-double with 51 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists. The four-seed Los Angeles Clippers bounced back from a Joe Johnson Game 1 buzzer beater to take Game 2 over the five-seed Utah Jazz 99-91.
