Witnesses at the Rue De Rivoli in Paris report huge amounts of police activity there. The street is closed off and photos from the scene show a police cordon and abandoned roads.

What Happened?

Peter Allen, a Paris-based journalist, tweeted that much of the two-mile long boulevard had been closed due to suspicious items being found. Police are on the scene investigating and it is also being reported that the city’s underground Metro system is not stopping at the street as a precaution.

Rue De Rivoli is one of the most popular streets in all of Paris. Shocked witnesses have described a significant police present along the two-mile road. France has been in a state of emergency since the ISIS-led Paris attacks of November 2015. The state of emergency was recently extended until the 2017 French elections are done on Sunday, May 7.

Cleveland’s Big Three lived up to their nickname in Game 2, as Indiana had absolutely no answer for LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, or Kevin Love. The trio combined to score 89 points on 60.8% shooting from the floor with 23 rebounds, 12 assists, five steals, and five blocks. McNeese State University named Dr. Daryl Burckel as its 7th president on Thursday, April 20. Burckel was one of three finalists and will assume office in June.

What Happened?

McNeese State University has chosen Dr. Daryl Burckel as its next president. The decision had come down to three finalists: Burckel, Neil Aspinwall and Jeanne Daboval.

UL System President and CEO Jim Henderson, in a phone interview with the American Press on Monday said, “When you look at the tens of billions of dollars in economic expansion in the regional economy and how the town has depended on McNeese through the years, it’s critical that we find the right person for this job. Lake Charles is in the midst of an economic boom and McNeese’s next leader is charged with meeting the community’s rapidly changing needs. The demands for the next president will be even stronger because the stakes are so high.”

Earlier this week, Henderson said there are “three candidates with a great deal of experience and each brings a set of talent and experiences that can bode well for McNeese. I’m excited to watch as things develop and to see the three interviews on Thursday. I’m confident in the process and feel very strongly that the right person for the job will be the one that is chosen after the interviews.”

McNeese President Philip Williams, who has served since July 1, 2010, will retire on June 30. Williams is the sixth president in the university’s 78-year history.

Burckel was an accounting professor at the University and in his letter to the McNeese Search Committee, he said, “McNeese is an excellent university, but it is at a crossroads as it faces considerable challenges as well as many opportunities. One thing is for certain: its future will be different from its past. To be successful in the future, regional universities will have to enhance their role in the social, cultural, and economic life of their communities.”

The woman called the Fox hotline and spoke through her attorney, Lisa Bloom, and on Thursday she went on The View to speak publicly about her allegations for the first time.

What Happened?

Perquita Burgess claims Bill O’Reilly sexually assault her and even called her “hot chocolate” when she briefly worked at Fox News. Burgess had initially kept her identity a secret, but came forward on an interview with The View Thursday, April 20.

She first voiced her allegations on April 18. A day later, O’Reilly was fired and Burgess said she felt “triumphant.” She said it was “very cathartic.”

Burgess also said that she was “mortified” to hear President Donald Trump defend O’Reilly.

On April 5, Trump told the New York Times that O’Reilly shouldn’t have settled, adding, “I don’t think Bill did anything wrong.”

“What Trump said was, ‘I don’t think he did anything wrong,’” Lisa Bloom, Burgess’ attorney, said on The View. “He didn’t day ‘I don’t think he did it.’ He doesn’t think sexual harassment is wrong. [Trump has] made that very clear.”

Prior to Burgess’ appearance on The View, Bloom had told The Hollywood Reporter that O’Reilly “would never talk to [Burgess], not even hello, except to grunt at her like a wild boar. He would leer at her. He would always do this when no one else was around and she was scared.”

Burgess explained that about a week into her job at Fox News, O’Reilly began walking by her desk and making “grunting” noises.

Three to four weeks after she was hired, they were on the elevator alone. She says he let her off the elevator first. As he was walking in front of her, he said, “Looking good there, girl,” which was the first time he said anything to her. She claimed that every time he walked by her, she could feel him looking at her cleavage and “leering” at her. Burgess said O’Reilly had no reason to be near her desk. She called it “street harassment at the office.”

Burgess had complained about O’Reilly on Twitter, writing: “I contacted @ fox news for 6 months a few years ago bill oreilly is a piece of XXXX,” in October in 2010. In March 2014, she wrote, “Bill O’Reilly likes black women… I’ll leave it at that.”

O’Reilly has staunchly denied any such wrongdoing. After THR published Burgess’ claims, O’Reilly released a statement to CNN through his attorney, Marc E. Kasowitz.

“It is outrageous that an allegation from an anonymous person about something that purportedly happened a decade ago is being treated as fact, especially when there is an obviously orchestrated campaign by activists and lawyers to destroy Mr. O’Reilly and enrich themselves through publicity driven donations,” Kasowitz said.

Although O’Reilly has denied the claims of sexual harassment, The New York Times reported on April 1 that O’Reilly and Fox News reached settlements with five women that totaled $13 million, between 2002 and 2016.

French police say at least one police officer is dead and two are seriously injured as a result of a shooting in Paris Thursday night. The gunman was reportedly killed near the Champs-Elysees and it is believed that they acted alone.

UPDATE 4:16 P.M. – Reports of new shots fired near Avenue des Champs Élysées, in Paris are coming in.

Is This A Terrorist Attack?

ISIS has claimed responsibility for this attack.

What Happened?

French media reported gunfire shortly after 9:00 P.M. local time in the French capital. At least one officer was killed while in a car stopped at a red light by a drive-by attacker. Two others were seriously injured. The Interior Ministry spokesperson said on BFM TV that officers were deliberately targeted.

A helicopter has been seen flying low over the city in the wake of the shooting.

The shooting comes just a few days before France’s presidential election and just two hours after a police lockdown on Rue de Rivoli – a nearby street in the heart of the city. The Paris Metro was suspended at the station on the street as officers sealed off the road.

The French president has scheduled an emergency meeting as a result of the attack.

“We need to realize our security, law enforcement forces targeted have the full support of the nation,”President Francois Hollande said in an address to the nation.

It is not yet known whether the street closure and the shooting are linked, but Police are warning people to stay away from the Champs Elysees area.

A witness told Reuters that one man got out of a car at the scene and began shooting with a “Kalashnikov” machine gun.

The attacker was known by secret service in France as an extremist, officials confirmed to Fox News. Police sources told France 24 searches are currently ongoing at the home of the gunman.

Central Paris is on lockdown. France remains on high alert following the 2015 Paris attacks. The state of emergency was recently extended until the 2017 French elections are done on Sunday, May 7.

Earlier this week, two men were arrested in Marseille whom police said had been planning an attack ahead of the election.

A machine gun, two hand guns and three kilos of TATP explosive were among the weapons found at a flat in the southern city along with jihadist propaganda materials according to the Paris prosecutor.

The three-seed Toronto Raptors bounced back nicely from an ugly Game 1 defeat, beating the six-seed Milwaukee Bucks 106-100 on Tuesday night. Not many NBA pundits gave the Grizzlies much of a chance to upset the two-seed Spurs, but I also don’t think that people were expecting such emphatic ass kickings to take place.

The Grizzlies haven’t been able to do a damn thing to slow down Kawhi Leonard, as the two-time All-Star is putting on a basketball clinic. In Game 2, Leonard scored 37 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor while grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out two assists. He made 19-of-19 from the free throw line, which I couldn’t even come close to doing in an empty gym. Through the first two games of the series, Leonard has scored 69 points on 71.4% shooting from the floor and 100% shooting from the free throw line.

For Memphis, Mike Conley lead the way in Game 2 with 24 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the floor. While he went 4-of-8 from three-point range, Conley needs some help in this department if the Grizzlies are going to get back in the series. Memphis has hit just 29.8% from three-point range through the first two games, going 14-of-47 from downtown.

After playing the pesky neighbor of a fraternity in the movies, Seth Rogen has now joined one.

The Canadian actor, who famously played a young dad battling a next-door fraternity in Neighbors, has officially joined the Pi Kappa Alpha chapter at the University of Vermont. Rogen visited the fraternity on Monday, April 17, after the brothers raised $32,000 for his charity, Hilarity for Charity, which helps fund Alzheimer’s research.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rogen went bowling with the fraternity brothers and was inducted as an honorary member during a “top-secret ceremony.”

Two officers were shot this afternoon while responding to a robbery in downtown Seattle, Washington. One remains in critical condition, while the other officer is listed in satisfactory condition in Harborview Medical Center. One suspect in the shooting has been taken in police custody, while the other is being treated for significant injuries.

What Happened?

A male and a female police officer were both responding to a robbery of a convenience store in downtown Seattle. When those officers arrived on the scene, the shooting began.

The shooting occurred at 1:40 P.M. (Pacific Time) according to the department’s Twitter page. The shooting took place near the waterfront, several blocks south of the Pike Place Market.

The 42-year-old female officer remains in satisfactory condition. She was shot in the chest. Meanwhile, the male officer remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center. He was shot in the face and chest.

Police are currently looking for a third suspect in the shooting.

Where Did The Shooting Happen?

This shooting took place occurred near Madison Street and Western Avenue in downtown Seattle, Washington. Shots rang out near the waterfront, several blocks south of Pike Place Market.

The gunman who killed at least one police officer and seriously wounded two other on the Champs-Elysees in Paris Thursday night has been identified as ISIS fighter Karim Cheurfi, also known as Abu Yusuf al-Balkiki.

What Happened?

Cheurfi opened fire on police officers in Paris Thursday night, killing one and gravely wounded two others. Responders fatally shot Cheufri, 39, at the scene, L’Express reports.

In a statement from ISIS, Cheurfi was referred to as Abu Yusuf al-Baljiki, though his name has been spelled Abu Youssef and al-Beljiki in some reports.

Cheurfi opened fire with an automatic weapon, according to a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry. He fired at a police officer stopped in his car at a red light. He then got out of his car and fired on other officers, CNN reports.

Pierre-Henry Brandet, the Interior Ministry spokesman, said the gunman “then ran away, managing to shoot and wound two other policemen. Other policemen engaged and shot and killed the attacker.”

A witness, named Chelloug, told Sky News he heard six shots after a man armed with a Kalashnikov rifle parked his Audi behind a police vehicle.

“I thought they were firecrackers. In fact, he was hidden behind the van and shooting at the police. I think he hit a policeman. As soon as the policeman opened the door of the van, he fell,” the witness said.

Witnesses told media they heard several gunshots nearby. One witness said people began to panic, overturning tables and ducking for cover.

Who Is Karim Cheurfi?

Karim Cheurfi, 39, was an ISIS fighter who was also known as Abu Yusuf al-Baljiki. He was born in Livry-Gargan and lived in Chelles, Seine-et-Marne.

In 2001, Cheurfi was convicted of shooting at police officers, according to L’Express.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2003, but that term was reduced to 15 years in 2005.

According to a 2001 report from Le Parisien, Cheurfi, then 23, stole a gun from a police officer and shot him three times, in the lung, leg and foot. He also fired at other officers.

Cheurfi was reportedly known for committing violent robberies.

Just days before that incident, Cheurfi also shot at a police officer during a road rage incident while driving a stolen vehicle.

BFM TV reports that Cheurfi was previously known to authorities. He had written on Telegram, an instant messaging service, about wanting to kill police officers, the news station reports.

According to France 2 news, the shooter was taken into custody recently and interrogated because informants said he was looking for weapons to kill police officers. But he was released.

Police officials told the Associated Press that he had been flagged as an extremist.

Cuba Gooding Sr., a popular soul singer and father to the Oscar winner, was found dead Thursday in the San Fernando Valley. He was 72.

According to TMZ, Cuba Gooding Jr.’s father was slouched over in his silver jaguar, parked on Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills, California. The outlet reports that the fire department responded to the scene at 12:58 P.M. PT and attempted CPR, but could not resuscitate him.

Cuba Sr. was best known as the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The Main Ingredient. The band had a big hit in 1972 with “Everybody Plays the Fool.”

Cuba Sr. and wife Shirley had four children together – including actors Cuba and Omar. They split up in 1974 but remarried in 1995.
