Newly-released footage shows the wild moment a New York City man hopped down onto the subway tracks at New York City’s Third Avenue station to rescue another man who was lying on the train tracks.
Jonathan Kulig, a 29-year-old New York City man, had just gotten off his L train at the Third Ave station when he saw another man fall onto the tracks on the opposite platform. Acting quickly, Kulig jumped down onto the tracks, risking his own life, and scooped up the barely conscious man.
It is unclear what cause the unidentified man to fall.

Once back on the platform, Kulig tried to ask the guy what happened, but only got mumbles in response.
Other straphangers can be heard in the background of the cellphone footage saying he had been staggering around, bumping into things before he ended up on the tracks. Kulig, who works for Con Ed, had gone through the MTA’s track-safety training program last month, so he was well equipped to make the daring rescue on the rails.
“I’m not an expert, but I knew enough to keep myself safe,” he said.
According to the FDNY, responding paramedics took the still unidentified victim to the nearby Lenox Healthplex with non-critical injuries.
“I just so happened to have taken track safety training with Metro North railroad about month and a half ago for a project most people don’t do,” he said.
