Camila Mendes is one of the stars of the CW hit show Riverdale, where she stars as Veronica Lodge. the 23-year-old has had a meteoric rise to fame after attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and now she is only set to see her star rise as the show prepares to return for a third season.

Mendes, who was born to Brazilian parents, is proud to introduce Latino culture and dialect to the series.

“That choice made so much sense,” Mendes said in an interview with W Magazine. “I’m so happy…and it’s not just Veronica, it’s the whole Lodge family being all Latino…portraying Latinos as a strong, powerful, intelligent family. We do well, we’re go-getters.”

She added, “Being Latina, everyone is always going to want to be like ‘Fierce, sexy, strong, confident!’—which is great, I think that’s definitely a good type of personality to portray and it’s empowering—but Latinas can be the goofy, nerdy, quirky, vulnerable women that I think is usually associated with white girls.”

After bursting onto the scene with Riverdale, where she won a Teen Choice Award for Choice Scene Stealer, she also made the transition to the silver screen where she made her feature film debut in The New Romantic before filming The Stand-In.

Anna Lewandowska, born September 7, 1988, is a Polish athlete, nutrition specialist, and representative of the country in traditional karate. She has won multiple medals at the World, European, and Polish National Championships. Madelaine Petsch is one of the hottest actresses in television as she continues to watch her star rise in the role of Cherly Blossom on the CW hit show Riverdale. Petch recently was awarded “Best Scene Stealer” at the MTV Movie & TV Awards for her work in the series. Daniella Pineda is an American actress, writer, and comedian. Her latest film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World, is set to premiere this summer and fans of the franchise are very excited about it.

Pineda is a relative unknown in Hollywood as of right now, but don’t be surprised if her role in one of this summer’s biggest blockbusters changes all that. She plays Zia Rodriguez, a Dinosaur veterinarian. Yes, you heard that right, she’s a dino doctor. Nice work if you can get it.

Prior to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Pineda appeared in a variety of TV and film roles. She got her professional start in 2010, landing a minor role in Ray Romano’s Men Of A Certain Age. She would also appear in a larger role on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries as Sophie Devereaux and was set to star in a spinoff called The Originals but that show only lasted nine episodes before CW pulled the plug on it.

From there, she would appear on the short-lived NBC show American Odyssey and also the TBS comedy The Detour. Her big break and one that should garner her national attention comes in the aforementioned movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and fans will surely take notice of what she’s gonna bring to the table.

Pineda was born in Oakland, California in 1988. She attended Mills College, and as of 2018, resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Despite the fact the Black Panther came out almost half a year ago, Chadwick Boseman is still racking up the praise for Black Panther and his portrayal of the titular character. And while we’ve all seen the memes of Boseman looking sick of doing the “Wakanda Forever” pose, that doesn’t mean he’s any less grateful.

At last night’s MTV Movie Awards, Boseman won the award for Best Hero. Now, while the MTV Movie Awards may not be the Academy Awards, Boseman used the platform to honor someone who deserved true praise nonetheless.

Instead of taking his allotted speech time to give a pre-packaged, half-hearted thank you, Boseman brought Waffle House hero James Shaw Jr. to the stage to receive some much-deserved applause.

“Receiving an award for playing a superhero is amazing but it’s even greater to acknowledge the heroes we have in real life…He fought off a gunman in Antioch, Tennessee, at a Waffle House. He saved lives … a real-life hero,” Boseman said.

James Shaw Jr. is known for disarming gunman Travis Reinking, who was armed with an AR-15 style rifle during the Nashville Waffle House shooting in Antioch, Tennessee, saving many lives as a result.

When asked about his actions, Shaw Jr. simply said: “I was completely doing it just to save myself … I did save other people … I figured if I was going to die, he was going to have to work for it.”

The 2018 ESPN Body Issue has yet to officially announce its release date, but we do know the 16 athletes who will be gracing the pages of the yearly magazine when it hits newsstands later this year. On Tuesday, June 19, ESPN released the list of eight men and eight women that will be featured.

Geneva Ayala is the former girlfriend of late rapper XXXTentacion. XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot and killed in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on Monday, June 18, 2018, in a drive-by shooting.

Before his death, Onfroy faced more over a dozen felony charges, including witness tampering, witness harassment, false imprisonment, and aggravated battery of Ayala, who was pregnant at the time.

Onfroy was killed in a suspected drive-by shooting in Deerfield Beach. The suspects reportedly fled in a black Dodge Journey.

XXXTentacion released his debut album, “17”, on August 25, 2017. His second album, “?”, was released on March 16, 2018, and debuted at #1. He was perhaps best known for his single “Look At Me”, which was released in 2017.

3 people are reportedly dead after shooting in Tallassee, Alabama, Walmart parking lot. Mayor Johnny Hammock says it appears the shooter crashed into a car in the parking lot, then shot multiple rounds into the vehicle killing two people inside. The unidentified shooter is said to have then turned the gun on himself.

One of the victims was pronounced dead on the scene. A second victim, critically injured, died before a medical helicopter could arrive. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirms it is assisting with the investigation.

The shooting at the Tallassee Walmart comes less than a week after a Walmart in Clinton, Utah, was evacuated after reports of a man with a gun.

At the time of this writing, the shooter and the victims have yet to be identified.

Rapper XXXtentacion was shot and killed at age 20 in Miami, Florida on Monday, June 18. The controversial rapper had a long list of disturbing domestic violence incidents and legal issues. Despite the laundry list of bad deeds, XXXtentacion had a strong following and immediately following his death a video from Instagram began to surface.

In the video, XXXtentacion can be seen foreshadowing his own death and explaining what he hopes that his legacy will be.

“If worse thing comes to worst, and I f—ing die or some s— and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life,” he said in an undated Instagram live video.

“If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me.”

He added that depression and your body do not define you.

“Do not let your depression make you. Do not let your body define your soul, let your soul find your body. Your mind is limitless. You are worth more than you can believe. All you have to do is dream and all you have to do is want to fulfill that dream and have the strength,” he said.

XXXtentacion was leaving a motorsports shop at the time he was shot and killed in what is being described as a robbery.

Falling just one game short of the NBA finals without arguably their best two players, general manager Danny Ainge has positioned the green and white to be in almost too perfect of a spot for the next decade with many important decisions to make this offseason that will shape the teams future for years to come. Terry Rozier, the point guard who burst onto the scene out of nowhere is up for an extension as well as elite defender Marcus Smart’s impending unrestricted free agency. Not to mention that Kawhi Leonard may also be available via trade and with all the draft picks Aigne has accumulated, he is definitely something to consider.

Marcus Smart

While the stat sheet rarely does Marcus Smart any justice, he is without question one of the most important players on this roster. His ability to guard one through four is an extremely rare trait and would be very hard to replace. He has embraced the sixth man role perfectly and has won over the fans with his hard work and hustle plays. Most importantly, Smart wants to be in Boston and with so few teams having cap space this summer, unless a team like the Hawks make some ludicrous offer in the $15-$20 million dollar range, the Celtics should be willing to match anything if they can not just get the deal done themselves.

Terry Rozier

Assuming the Celtics do indeed keep Smart, they should also hold on to Rozier for at least one more season. He played like an All-Star when it mattered most and shifting back to the bench where he will likely be pitted against other team’s benches should allow him to thrive even more. With the ability to bring him and Smart off the bench, half of the teams in the NBA would love for that to be their starting backcourt. There are two arguments for getting rid of one them that simply do not make sense at this point in time. The first is that you are not going to pay to backup guards an eight-figure salary. Especially when you also know you are going to be paying Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum max contracts when they are eligible. The second is that many critics to the situation claim that Rozier and Smart do the same job. To put it nicely, that claim is a fallacy. Smart is of the Swiss army knife prototype with the ability to contribute in a number of ways. Whether it’s guarding the opposing teams best player, running the point in pick and roll, or even hitting timely threes, Smart can do a little bit of everything. Rozier is a solid defender in his own right thanks to his long arms and elite athleticism, but where he really thrives in on the offensive end and the glass. Rozier can get you a bucket with an old school break-you-down isolation type play, when he’s not gassed like he was in game seven of the eastern conference finals he can be a lights out three point shooter, whether its off the dribble or catch and shoot, finally he has also learned to be a great passer out of pick and roll situations. They both have the ability to play off the ball and are actually a perfect pairing for each other, so while they still have Rozier on a rookie deal the wisest move would be to keep the guys that led you to one game away from the finals.

Kawhi Leonard

If Ainge is worried about the expensive payroll that will come to fruition in just a few years with this roster, trading for Leonard could actually ease the pain of that. Having Rozier and Smart is a luxury, not a necessity. Same goes for wing players Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum. Trading two of these guys for Leonard would make a lot of sense. Of those guys, the Spurs would likely prefer budding star Jayson Tatum who is probably off the table before negotiations even begin. Next would be Gordon Hayward who is also extremely unlikely to be dealt since the Celtics just signed him and have not even got a chance to see what he and coach Brad Stevens could do in there the second term together. This leaves the Spurs to choose from Brown, and either Smart or Rozier. With all three players adding value to the team, Ainge would likely just agree to whoever Spurs GM R.C. Buford covets. Picks may also be thrown in, but with Kawhi, Hayward, and Irving all entering their prime this deal makes just as much sense as keeping the group together.

Tori Bowie is an American track and field athlete, best known for competing in the long jump and for becoming the 2017 100m World Champion.

Bowie is a native of Sand Hill, Rankin County, Mississippi. She attended Pisgah High School, where she started competing in track for the school, showcasing the start of her professional career. Furthering her early beginnings as an athlete, she also competed on the state team in women’s basketball.

Through her prowess, Bowie later gained an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Southern Mississippi. While at the school, she represented the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and Lady Eagles in NCAA Division I competitions. In her freshman year, she saw her best results in the long jump, coming third at the Conference USA indoors, second at the Conference USA outdoors and reaching the NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

After finishing school, Bowie started competing in track and field professionally around 2013, competing in the 2013 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. The following year, she also competed in the IAAF Diamond League Championship. She also gained a spot on the team for the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships after a win at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, also nabbing a runner-up finish in the long jump at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Showing her prowess, Bowie even managed to compete in the Olympics, first placing third in the 100m by running a 10.779 at the 2016 United States Olympic Trials for track and field. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she later placed second in the 100-meter dash at a time of around 10.83 seconds; she also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of around 22.15 seconds. At the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London, Bowie also took the gold in the 100-meter dash, winning in a time of around 10.85 seconds, with a .01 second margin of victory.

As the years go by and the youth become the adults, weed has assimilated itself more and more into everyday life, and therefore, everyday business. When I think of weed strains, the first thing that comes to mind is the 2008 stoner comedy classic Pineapple Express. In one of the earliest scenes of the movie, Saul explains to Dale how fire his newest strain of marijuana — Pineapple Express — is by only referring to previous strains that Dale had smoked.

“This is like if that Blue Oyster shit met that Afghan Kush I had – and they had a baby. Former WEC champion and perennial UFC title challenger Urijah Faber suffered a gnarly foot injury while visiting Singapore. According to the legendary bantamweight and featherweight, he was run over by a car while touring the city.

Faber shared video of his injured foot on social media.

“Warm welcome to Singapore, first day here and get run over by the only car in the road,” Faber wrote on Instagram.

Crystal Dunn is an American soccer player, best known for playing for the National Women’s Soccer League club North Carolina Courage and the U.S. Women’s National Team. Most notably, she was a member of the team that won the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan.

Dunn is a native of New York, growing up in New Hyde Park and Rockville Centre, where she attended South Side High School, where she was a four-year starter as forward and midfielder and team captain. In the 2009 state championship match, she earned four goals.

Your average 14-year old is enjoying their summer hanging out with friends and getting prepared to enter freshman year of high school in the fall. This 14-year old from Louisville, Kentucky is spending his summer receiving verbal scholarship offers from top football programs in the country.

What Happened?

Kiyaunta Goodwin is a 14-year old kid who has the attention of many college football coaches. Goodwin has received nine verbal scholarship offers from Division One schools. Goodwin has received offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Wisconsin, LSU, Syracuse, Louisville, Kentucky, and Western Kentucky. He has also received much interest from Ohio State, Michigan, and other top schools in the country.

Goodwin tweeted out Sunday night that he had received a verbal scholarship offer from Alabama Head Coach, Nick Saban.

The day before he tweeted about the verbal offer he had received from Florida State.

Goodwin also posted another tweet to his account with a picture of him and NFL Hall of Fame lineman, Anthony Munoz. In the photo, you can truly see the size of Goodwin. He has not even entered high school yet and he is making an NFL Hall of Fame lineman look small. You truly get the feel for how big he actually is when seeing the two of them stand side-by-side for the photo.

According to many coaches, Goodwin has the potential to be the #1 ranked high school prospect in the class of 2022. Many of those coaches believe that he could go on to become a high-level NFL player as he already has the body size to play at that level.

Goodwin is 6’7″ and 370 pounds outsizing all of the opponents he has faced at this point in his life. His sheer size and athletic ability have drawn the attention of many college coaches. He works out with many other talented football players at Aspirations Gym, which is a football pipeline in South Louisville, producing some of the state’s best prospects. Goodwin is not only interested in football as he also loves robotics and would love to study engineering once he gets to college. Goodwin talked about how football would not define his life when he said, “Football is something I love doing, but it’s also something I want to use to get more out of life. I could be one of the first people in my family to graduate, I want to go to college and get a degree.”

Those are the words that will come out of Adam Silver’s mouth when announcing who the Knicks are selecting with their lottery pick. You might be wondering who the Knicks are going to select with this pick as this draft class is very deep and has lots of talent. Let’s take a look at five potential prospects that the Knicks will target.

Trae Young PG/ Oklahoma University

The Knicks would love to see Trae Young fall into their lap at the #9 spot. Young lead the NCAA in scoring and assists averaging 27.4 points and 8.7 assists. He even had a game where he recorded 22 assists in the game, which tied an NCAA Division 1 record. Young is an excellent three-point shooter as he hit 3.7 threes per game. He was a consensus first-team All-American and helped lead his team to the NCAA Tournament. Young whose offensive game is one of the best in this draft class will struggle defensively to start out in the NBA. However, pairing him up with Knicks young guard, Frank Nkitilina can help alleviate some of the defensive pressure as Nkitilina is a very solid defender. Those two together paired with Kristaps Porzingis could make for a very bright future in the Big Apple.

Michael Porter Jr. F/Missouri

Michael Porter Jr. was voted as the Preseason ESPN National Freshman of the Year as he was the #1 high school prospect. However, two minutes into Porter Jr’s freshman campaign he sustained a back injury that would require him to have surgery and made him miss out on most of the season. If Porter Jr. were to fall to this spot, it would be because teams are worried of lingering injury issues from his back or the more recent reports that Porter Jr. had to postpone his Pro Day workout because of a hip issue. However, he would be worth the gamble because the reward of him being a healthy player is too hard for the Knicks to pass up. Porter’s size, skill, and scoring prowess make him a much-coveted prospect. He and Porzingis together would be a very scary duo for years to come.

Collin Sexton PG/Alabama

Collin Sexton would bring the aggressiveness and toughness that the Knicks need on their roster. Sexton is known for driving the lane, putting pressure on opposing defenders with his quick handles, and is a good off-the-dribble jump shooter. Sexton can score with the best of them, and his playmaking will only get better since he will be surrounded by better players than he was in college. Teams have concerns about his reckless style of play and on-court decision making. He likes to play a little out of control sometimes, but with a coach like David Fizdale at the helm, he can help Sexton play more under control. Sexton is a hard worker on the defensive end and has even drawn comparisons to Patrick Beverley. A backcourt consisting of Sexton and Nkitilina would give the Knicks two very good on-ball defenders to hound opposing teams guards.

Mikal Bridges G/F/ Villanova

Mikal Bridges would help fill a need for the Knicks as they could use someone who can defend multiple positions and play out on the wing. He can also stroke the ball from three-point range as he shot 43% from the perimeter during his junior season at Villanova helping his team win a National Championship. Last season he became just the second qualified NCAA player to average at least 2.5 made three-pointers, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game since Shane Battier was the first to do it at Duke during the 2000-2001 season. The 6’7″ wing has a 7-foot wingspan that can cause issues for shooters as he is able to close out effectively. The Knicks drafting Bridges would add a much-needed wing player that can shoot the long ball and play solid defense. The Knicks could use a 3-and-D type of player after allowing 108 points per game last year, which was the ninth highest in the league.

Kevin Knox II F/Kentucky

Knox can shoot the ball from deep and has good size for his position on the wing. The Knicks lacked a true small forward who could put the ball on the floor and score for them. Knox would provide them with a scorer off the wing shooting 51% from two-point range and 34% from the perimeter. Knox averaged nearly 2 three-pointers per game during his time at Kentucky. He was also a 77% free throw shooter. These numbers indicate his future is bright to be an efficient offensive scorer in the league. However, some teams fear that he may have some defensive flaws at the next level from watching his game tape, but with his size, vertical, and length Knox could become a competent defender by being able to defend multiple positions at the NBA level if he puts the time and work in.
