When President Trump announced that he ordered the Pentagon to begin the creation of a “Space Force”, while everyone was quick to ask questions of where the money would come from and make memes about Star Trek, no one has taken the time to try and figure out what this newly established branch of our military will actually be doing.

During his press conference, President Trump didn’t say much about the nature of the Space Force other than that it will be “separate but equal” Space Force” to the United States Air Force. As for why the United States needs to begin the further exploration into the final frontier, Trump said that it was necessary to avoid “China and Russia and other countries leading us.”

From all indications, it appears that the space force will be exactly what it sounds like: a militarization of space. The militarization of space is not a new idea in American culture as the original “space race” was one of the driving factors behind the Cold War with the Soviet Union.

President Trump had hinted at the creation of such a division in the past. In June 2017, the House Committee on Armed Services voted on a proposal to include the “U.S. Space Corps” in this year’s National Defense Authorization Act, however, the move was opposed by the various military leaders. The idea cropped back up in March 2018 when Trump told the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego that his “new national strategy for space recognizes that space is a war-fighting domain, just like the land, air, and sea.”

Trump’s suggestion was condemned by both Russia and China, with the Kremlin likening President Trump’s comment to “opening a Pandora’s box.” China has also spoken out against the further militarization of space, s. Outer space is all humanity’s property. China always advocates the peaceful use of outer space and opposes the placement of weapons and an arms race in outer space.”

As for what the Space Force will be exactly or where the money to fund it will come from, nobody knows, but what we do know is that the Trump Administration has shown a steadfast commitment to control of the “warfighting domain” that is space.

Lauren Chamberlain is an American softball player, one who is certainly decorated in her sport I might add.

Chamberlain is is a native of California, having been born in Orange and raised in Trabuco Canyon. She later attended and graduated from El Toro High School in Lake Forest.

In 2010, Chamberlain served as a member of the Junior Women’s National Team, staying there for around two years. and was named the 2010 USA Softball Athlete of the Year for the JWNT.

Chamberlain played for the Oklahoma Sooners, the softball team that represents the University of Oklahoma, from 2012 to 2015; during her first year, she set the Big 12 conference’s single-season home run record. At one point, she was even named to the all-conference first team and a first-team all-American. In 2013, she helped to lead the Sooners to the National Championship; following the season, she was once again named a first-team all-American and a member of the all-conference first team. In 2014, she was named a third-team all-American after the season, despite enduring a back injury and a partially-torn right PCL during this time. In 2015, she was named the Big 12 conference’s Female Athlete of the Year.

Chamberlain played for Team USA in 2013, marking the start of her international career. She was then selected with the first overall draft pick in the 2015 NPF Draft by the USSSA Pride, essentially starting her professional career.

Over her career, Chamberlain was won many honors to her name. In addition to those mentioned above, she was the 2013 NCAA National Champion and ESPY’s Nominee ‘Best Record-Breaking Performance’ in 2015.

In 2018, Chamberlain was later named one of 16 athletes to appear in ESPN The Magazine’s annual Body Issue. In addition, she has had many prominent images on social media, including on Instagram, which can be seen above. The 2018 issue will be published on June 25.

‘Last Chance U,’ the Netflix hit show that follows around college football players who are looking to make the move from community college back to Division I, is set to return to Netflix later this summer for the third season. Season 3 will drop on July 20 and feature a new school.

The first two seasons of the show centered around East Mississippi Community College in Scuba, Mississippi, but season 3 will make the shift to Kansas to follow the Independence Community College Pirates who are coached by Jason Brown.

Independence Community College finished the 2017 college football season with a 9-2 record.

The Pirates won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference championship and scored a win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in the Midwest Bowl. You can check out the full trailer for the upcoming season below.

Last Chance U is back for another season and this year, it’s a whole new field – as the series moves to Independence, Kansas! After years of losing seasons, Coach Jason Brown and the Independence Pirates vie for a spot amongst the best in the Junior College Football ranks.

Chloe Frances Dykstra, born September 15, 1988, is an American actress, cosplayer, and model, who produces and co-hosts a web series called “Just Cos for the Nerdist Industries’. Dykstra is also a cast member of the SyFy show “Heroes of Cosplay”.

In June 2018, Dykstra published an essay on Medium accusing ex-boyfriend Chris Hardwick, host of AMC’s Talking Dead, of sexual assault.

While Dykstra’s essay, titled Rose-Colored Glasses: A Confession, did not name Hardwick specifically, several details she described in the piece suggested she was referring to 46-year-old Hardwick.

Blain Padgett, a standout player for the Rice football program, passed away earlier this year at 21-years-old. Padgett was found dead in his apartment after the team sent someone to check on him when he was absent from practice. Up until this time, a cause of death had not been confirmed.

However, on Tuesday, June 19, the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office announced a cause of death which was an accidental overdose.

Padgett reportedly died after taking a powerful opioid.

Padget reportedly died after overdosing on the synthetic opioid carfentanil, which is an elephant tranquilizer that is 100 times more potent than the deadly drug fentanyl.

From ABC 13:

Dr. Richard Pesikoff, a Baylor College of Medicine employee, said carfentanil is a dangerous opioid that was designed to be an elephant tranquilizer. It’s 10,000 times more potent than morphine, and 100 times more potent than fentanyl.

Dr. Pesikoff said carfentanil is deadly because it causes the brain to suppress breathing.

“It’s a dangerous recreational drug,” Dr. Pesikoff said. “Probably the most dangerous. Maybe LSD is equally as dangerous because it comes in micrograms and just the tiny bit that you touch go through the pores in your skin.”

Padgett’s father issued a statement following the confirmed cause of death.

“The family is very devastated by the news and how it came out of the blue. The way we heard about it is very disappointing. We would like to know how Blain got his hands on this drug that seems very difficult to get,” his father said. “That’s our main question. How did he get it and why did he take it? Sadly, nothing we find out will bring Blain back, which is what we really want.”

Mary Zolkowski, a 21-year-old Delta College student, has been charged and sentenced to 45 days in jail after she falsely claimed that she was raped on the school’s campus.

Zolkowski, 21, claimed that she was raped at the Delta College campus in Bay City, Michigan on February 22 while walking to her car.

According to MLive, Bay County Circuit Judge Joseph K. Sheeran sentenced Zolkowski to 45 days in jail.

Zolkowski previously appeared in Bay County District Court on August 14 and was charged one count of false report of a felony. Once Zolkowski serves her term, she’ll be on probation for two years, during which she is to be tested for drugs and alcohol and participate in substance abuse counseling.

Bay County Circuit Judge Joseph K. Sheeran on Monday, June 18, sentenced 21-year-old Mary T. Zolkowski to 45 days in jail, with no credit for any time served. Once Zolkowski serves her term, she’ll be on probation for two years, during which she is to be tested for drugs and alcohol and participate in substance abuse counseling.

The judge also ordered Zolkowski receive a mental health assessment. Sheeran deferred an additional 220 days in jail, meaning Zolkowski will only have to serve them if she violates probation.

Zolkowski’s sentencing guidelines ranged from zero to six months.

When police began their investigation, Zolkowski expressed an unwillingness to participate or submit to a physical examination. While investigating, authorities learned a parolee with sexual assault convictions was on campus at the time of the alleged attack, however, he denied any knowledge of the incident and passed a polygraph test.

After failing to find any evidence that the sexual assault had occurred, police again spoke with Zolkowski, who then changed her story to say she had been raped by an acquaintance earlier on Feb. 22 at his Saginaw Township apartment.

She got her start in acting when she was just five years old, studying at a variety of Arts schools in the Los Angeles area. In addition to acting, she has also taken classes with a political science tutor, focusing in on constitutional law.

Her first professional acting credits came when she appeared on the Disney Channel original series The Suite Life On Deck. Her first appearance on big screen came in the fantasy movie Beautiful Creatures, acting alongside the future Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich.

One of her first major starring roles came in the comedy Everybody Wants Some!!, playing one of the one female characters in that film. From there, she would act alongside Zan Efron and Robert DeNiro in the comedy Dirty Grandpa, playing Efron’s love interest. Since then, she has acting credits in Flower, The Year of Spectacular Men, and The Disaster Artist.

Her latest movie is the Netflix romantic comedy Set It Up, playing an overworked assistant who alongside her Everybody Wants Some!! costar Glen Powell attempts to set up her horrible boss with Powell’s equally horrible boss and get them to fall in love.

In addition to acting, Deutch also works as a model with numerous credits in the fashion world to her name. She has appeared on the cover of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, Seventeen, and InStyle. She has also been listed on plenty of Best Dressed lists and can be frequently spotted in the front row of fashion weeks across the globe.

It seems like the world is Deutch’s oyster and frankly, we can’t wait to see where she goes from here.

A gas leak at American University has led to evacuations and road closures on the campus Wednesday morning. At this time, there are no reports of injuries.

Ths school announced on their Twitter account that the Mary Graydon Center, Butler Pavilion, Bender Arena, Sports Center Garage & Tunnel Shops have been evacuated due to a damaged gas line.

In addition to the evacuations, main campus roads and parking have been closed. Shuttle service is limited to Nebraska and Massachusetts Avenue stops. Parking at the School of International Service Katzen, and East Campus garages will remain open.

American University police and D.C. Fire and EMS officials are on the scene.

The American University is a private United Methodist-affiliated research university in Washington, D.C., United States. Its main campus is located near Ward Circle in the northwest portion of the District of Columbia.

American University has eight total schools and colleges: the School of International Service, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Communication, School of Professional & Extended Studies, School of Public Affairs, School of Education, and the Washington College of Law.

American University is ranked 69th among “national universities” and 925th among “global universities” according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 rankings.

Georges St-Pierre knows what it takes to excel at the highest level of mixed martial arts. The former welterweight and middleweight champion was one of the most dominant titleholders in UFC history and was able to fine-tune his skill set under the direction of Firas Zahabi, the head trainer at Tristar Gym in Montreal.

But what GSP may not have known is that Zahabi had some tricks up his sleeves to give St-Pierre some extra motivation while training for big fights.

During an appearance on the “JRE MMA Show” podcast with Joe Rogan, Zahabi revealed that he would sometimes offer fighters a $5,000 reward if they were able to knock St-Pierre out during training. The goal of the bounty on the champ’s head was to ensure he was always taking on someone at their best.

But don’t worry: Zahabi never had to pay up the $5,000 reward.

Zahabi said, as transcribed by MMAjunkie.com:

“We reach those high intensity levels periodically through the year, and we have to do it a certain way so that it’s fun. Georges was on your show, and he was saying I was trying to kill him in the practice room. He’s right, but I do it so rarely. I do it so periodically. I make it a joke. I brought the guys in a room, and I was watching them spar with Georges, and they don’t want to touch his face. This is when he was like a mega-star, when he was the champ. Nobody wants to try to double leg him; nobody wants to try to hurt him. They’re like, ‘I’m not going to come here in his house and try to show him.’ There’s a respect thing. They’re starstruck, these young kids.

“I would bring in these young kids, and I would be like, ‘Listen, guys.’ I would give them a speech: ‘The first guy to double leg him, the first guy to put him out, I’ll give a $5,000 reward. If you knock Georges out, I’ll give you 5,000 bucks. If you put Georges on his back, if you take him down, put him on his back, I’ll stop the whole practice and praise you for 20 minutes in front of everybody in the gym.’ And students don’t get praised by me very often. Georges would be like, ‘Oh my God, these guys are coming after me!’ So he would get riled up. I would do this periodically. We’re talking about world title fights, stuff’s on the line. I need these guys to show me where Georges is missing something. Because when you’re having this ‘perfect practice,’ and you win all the time, what do you work on? Nothing went wrong, there’s nothing to fix. So there were times I would really red-light him.”

Zahabi did come close to having to pay the reward one time, however.

“He’s been dropped once in practice pretty badly,” he acknowledged. “But the money wasn’t on the line that time. There was no prize for that. One time he got dropped in practice, and I wanted to pull the plug. It was for a world title fight. He was fighting Dan Hardy.”

St-Pierre last fought at UFC 217 in November 2017. “Rush” scored an impressive rear-naked submission victory over Michael Bisping to win the UFC middleweight title. It was St-Pierre’s first bout in nearly four years. After winning the 185-pound belt, St-Pierre would vacate the title due to health issues.

Currently, there is no official word on whether St-Pierre will ever return to the Octagon again.

Alexander Thomas Miner, a 29-year-old former Marine who jumped over an initial security fence at the White House, told police he was “on a mission from God to slap Donald Trump and make him make him cry like a bitch.”

On Tuesday, June 19, Miner walked toward the south fence of the White House with his hands in the air shouting, “Shoot me, shoot me!”. Secret Service officers were eventually able to take him into custody without incident. After he was detained, no weapons or contraband were found on him, according to police.

Furthermore, Miner told police that while he did not intend to kill the President, he believes he “needs to die.” Miner also said that Trump is the anti-christ and Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were child molesters.

Miner waived his Miranda right and told D.C. police he was on a mission from God and received communication from the birds and the sky, according to charging documents. He said had he not been stopped, he wanted to make it to the Oval Office where he wanted to slap or punch the president and “make him cry like a b—-.”

He said he did not want to be shot by officers and he did not want to kill the president but that the president “needs to die,” according to charging documents. Miner told police that before he jumped the fence, someone had said they didn’t believe in God and were doing fine, and he responded by saying, “Do you want to see if God is real?” according to charging documents.

Miner told police God was furious and Trump is the Antichrist, according to charging documents. He said Trump harassed him with campaign emails and Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama were child molesters.

Miner’s father, who lives in California, said his son is a retired Marine who went “off the deep end” and might be paranoid schizophrenic. Additionally, Miner’s father described his son as “heavily trained, tech-savvy and dangerous.”

He has been charged with a federal offense of entering and remaining on restricted grounds and a state offense of attempted burglary. He is scheduled to appear in U.S. District court for the District of Columbia on Wednesday, June 20.

If you’re a fan of the CW hit show Riverdale, you should be familiar with the name Madelaine Petsch. Petsch stars as Cheryl Blossom on the series, which was recently picked up for season 3 which is expected to premiere later this fall. The 23-year-old picked up a 2018 MTV Movie & TV Award in the “Scene Stealer” category for her work on the show.

At the awards show, Petsch nearly suffered a wardrobe malfunction but was saved by Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart. Petsch’s dress ripped during the show, but Reinhart was quick to jump into action.

“Little does this Madelaine know that in 2 and a half hours @lilireinhart would be safety pinning the bottom half of her dress so her butt doesn’t become exposed to the world,” she wrote in an Instagram post following the show.

Petsch, who was born to South African parents, has had a love of dance and theater since a young age. After attending Tacoma School of the Arts, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Her first shot at stardom came in a national campaign for Coca-Cola in 2014, before receiving her role in Riverdale.
