Cassidy Hubbarth, 33, is an American television anchor for ESPN who was the former host of ESPN2’s NBA Tonight and ESPN’s SportsCenter. Hubbarth is currently an NBA sideline reporter as well as the host of ESPN and Cycle’s online basketball show “Buckets”.

Hubbarth was born in 1984 in the Chicago to Emmeline and Gerry Hubbarth. Hubbarth is of Filipino descent from her mother Emmeline’s side and of German and Irish descent from her father Gerry’s side.

She graduated from Evanston Township High School in 2003, where she was a three-sport athlete for four years. Hubbarth was a part of the 2002 ETHS State Championship high school soccer team. She then attended the University of Illinois and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Within Our Gates

Oscar Micheaux was an African American writer and film producer who developed over 40 films. His second silent film was Within Our Gates, produced in 1920. Telling the story of a mixed-race school teacher who tries to raise money for a rural school in the Deep South. Although it is not Micheaux’s first film, it is believed to be the oldest known surviving film made by an African-American director.

Body and Soul

Okay, okay, black-and-white movies might not be your cup of tea, but this film was the debut of Paul Robeson, legendary performer and civil rights activist. The film tells the story of an escaped prisoner who disguises himself as a preacher and his more heroic twin brother who both fall in love with the same woman. A good chunk of the film turns out to have been a dream, but it at least allows for a happy ending.

To Sir With Love

Sidney Poitier starred in a variety of films that reflected racial conflicts and empowerment, all the while helping to prove that a black man could be the leading star. In To Sir With Love, he showed that issues could happen all around the world. More importantly, it shows what can be overcome. Based off of E. R. Braithwaite’s autobiographical novel, Poitier plays Mark Thackeray, a teacher dealing with social and racial issues in an inner-city school in London.

Lady Sings The Blues

Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown and one of the first black producers in Hollywood, told the real-life story of singer, Billie Holiday, as portrayed in the film by Diana Ross, one of Gordy’s biggest stars.

The Wiz

In the 1970’s, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz took on Manhattan with an all-black cast. No really, New York City turned into Oz for this film and it is breathtaking to watch. Based on a popular stage show, it is actually much more faithful to the original Baum book than a certain MGM musical. In other words, silver shoes are just classier than ruby slippers! Finally, this is a film for the whole family. Although I will admit to one thing, Stephanie Mills was robbed!

Soul Food

George Tillman Jr. based the story of Soul Food partially off of his own family and helped to craft a more positive image of an African American family in Hollywood. Teaching the importance of family, the Joseph family of Chicago comes together every Sunday night for a family dinner hosted by Josephine “Big Mama” Joseph, who grows to have an angelic presence over her family even after her passing.

The Josephine Baker Story

When Josephine Baker realized she wouldn’t be able to make it as a respected performer in the States due to the color of her skin, she did the only sensible thing a person in her position could do…she moved to Paris and became the star she deserved to be. Becoming an icon of the 1920’s, she later aided the French Resistance during the Second World War and fought for the Civil Rights Movement in her former country, even adopting children of various backgrounds into her family. Lynn Whitfield portrayed the icon in The Josephine Baker Story, which showed that even in France, Baker’s life was more complicated than a mere Cinderella story.

12 Years a Slave

Based off of the 1853 slave narrative memoir Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, the film tells the story of an African American man who was born free, but had been kidnapped and sold into slavery. Northup was brought to life by British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Queen of Katwe

Telling the story of a Ugandan girl who changes her life by learning to play chess and taking on competitions, this Disney film was based on the real-life story of Phiona Mutesi. Emphasizing the importance of education, this is a film the whole family can enjoy.

Serena

Don’t forget that documentaries combine all the fun of a movie with a real-life story. Serena Williams has shown the world that she could be a triple threat: working hard as an athlete, designer and businesswoman. In fact, Williams herself also narrated this documentary of her life.

Students at Grover Fields Middle School are being evacuated and roads around the New Bern Middle School in New Bern, North Carolina are blocked due to a bomb threat.

Police say that they received a bomb threat this morning at Grover Fields Middle School this morning.

The New Bern Police department tweeted:

“NBPD and NBFD is actively involved with a bomb threat on the campus of Grover C. Fields Middle School. Students have been removed from campus and are safe. More information to be provided throughout the incident.”

Police have given no other information at this time.

The bomb threat comes just a day after 17-year-old gunman Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Cruz has since been arrested and charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.

Of the things you probably shouldn’t do while tripping acid, getting naked and covering yourself in cooking oil is definitely towards the top of the list.

While everyone should be allowed to enjoy hallucinogenics as they see fit, it becomes a problem when you not only get naked and cover yourself in oil and also start attacking your family while doing so.

According to reports, Lonnie Beatty, 19, of New Apollo, Pennsylvania, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, following the incident which occurred in January.

Police say that Beatty had taken LSD on January 16 and then assaulted two women and three children in his home. When police arrived, Beatty tried to get back in the home and was shot with a stun gun, however, it didn’t seem to affect him.

A number of more serious charges were dropped after the alleged victims refused to testify or pursue charges against Beatty during his preliminary hearing Tuesday. Those charges were assault, recklessly endangering, terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of children and criminal mischief.

Police say the charges come after Beatty took the hallucinogen LSD, sometimes called acid, on Jan. 16 and lost control of himself before assaulting two women and their three kids. Court documents say Beatty “destroyed the house” before attacking the victims. According to police, the family dog bit Beatty in an attempt to protect the victims. Police say the victims hid in a bathroom before climbing out a window and hiding from Beatty in a parked car.

According to court documents, when police arrived at the home Beatty “came smashing out the front door naked only wearing one sock.” Police said Beatty was covered “in what appeared to be his own blood,” but that later turned out to be cooking oil.

Police say that because Beatty was covered in cooking oil, “attempts to gain control were difficult.” The victims told police Beatty was high on acid and that under normal circumstances “he would have never attempted to harm the kids.”

Beatty is currently free on bond.

Danica Patrick is one of the most recognizable faces in NASCAR as she is considered to be a pioneer for women in motorsports. Patrick is the most successful woman in the history of American open-wheel racing. Patrick’s victory in the 2008 Indy Japan 300 is the only female win in an IndyCar Series race.

Patrick began racing stock cars in 2010 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Her best finish was a fourth-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2011. She placed a career-high tenth in the 2012 season standings and was the second woman to clinch a pole position in the Nationwide Series since Shawna Robinson in 1994. Patrick started in the Sprint Cup Series (now Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series) in 2012.

She became the first woman to win a Cup Series pole position by setting the fastest lap in qualifying for the 2013 Daytona 500, finishing eighth. Patrick bested Janet Guthrie’s record for the most top-ten finishes by a woman in the Sprint Cup Series in 2015.

Patrick will be stepping away from full-time racing after the 2017 season but will compete at the 2018 Daytona 500 and the 2018 Indianapolis 500. She will drive the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Premium Motorsports at the 2018 Daytona 500.

Julie Stewart-Binks is a former ESPN college football and soccer reporter who now works as a radio host and soccer analyst for Barstool Sports.

Stewart-Binks was born April 30, 1987 in Canada. She was a television anchor and sports reporter for ESPN and Fox Sports West before joining Barstool Sports.

Born in Toronto, Stewart-Binks attended Havergal College and graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario with a couple of undergraduate degrees. She also graduated from City University in London where she received her master’s degree in international broadcast journalism.

In 2010, Stewart-Binks was hired as a program assistant at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and as a reporter for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Then in 2011, Stewart-Binks was hired to the anchor desk by FOX Soccer Channel’s flagship program. Long thought of us merely popcorn fare for comic books geeks, superhero movies are now the most profitable films in the industry. However, despite how much times have changed in the real world, that doesn’t appear to be the case in the world of the Incredibles, as the sequel appears to be picking up from exactly where the original left off — the Underminer.

Incredibles 2 is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated superhero film and is the long-awaited sequel to the 2004 film The Incredibles. It is in production by Pixar Animation Studios and will be released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is being written and directed by Brad Bird, the writer and director of the first film, and features Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Samuel L. Jackson and John Ratzenberger all reprising their roles from the first film. The film also features the new voices of Huck Milner, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Sophia Bush, Jonathan Banks and Isabella Rossellini.

West Virginia University, one of the biggest party schools in the country, has placed an immediate freeze on all fraternity activities while the University debates the future of Greek Life at the institution.

According to reports, all social and recruiting activities of all 16 of the school’s fraternities have been ordered to freeze. The fraternities are allowed to continue carrying out basic chapter operations, philanthropic or service activities, and brotherhood events.

Furthermore, the university will be making multiple changes to their fraternity rules, such as raising the required grade point average from 2.5 to 2.75 and eventually 3.0 by fall 2020. Given WVU’s student population, that will be difficult to say the least.

Currently, the university did not provide a timeline the suspension.

The fraternities immediately affected are social and social-professional fraternities that are members of the university’s Interfraternity Council. They are: Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Alpha Sigma Phi, Kappa Alpha Order. Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Delta Theta, Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Kappa Psi, Phi Sigma Kappa, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Alpha Mu, Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Theta Chi.

“We are at a tipping point,” university president Gordon Gee said in a news release. “We have seen the headlines across the country. We have had a few of our own in recent weeks. I cannot in good conscience as your president stand by and do nothing.”

The news release did not refer to any specific incidents involving fraternities. A university spokesman could not be reached Wednesday evening for further comment.

Interestingly, the traditionally African-American fraternities and sororities and sororities of the Panhellenic Association will not be immediately affected.

This is the latest fraternity suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities.

Although a motive for the recent shooting in Parkside, Florida, remains unclear, a lot of attention has come across shooter Nikolas Cruz’s social media accounts.

What happened with Cruz’s social media accounts

According to CNN, Cruz had written social media posts so controversial that he was twice reported to the FBI.

Reportedly, he wrote out slurs against blacks and Muslims. said he would shoot people with his AR-15, singled out police and anti-fascist protesters and claimed he aspired to become a “professional school shooter.”

According to Palm Beach Post, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel discussed what was found online in the following statement:

“We already began to dissect his websites and the things on social media that he was on and some of the things … are very, very disturbing.”

In a statement that has been shared on social media, Instagram released the following statement in light of Cruz’s account on the site being taken down:

“This is a terrible tragedy and our hearts go out to the people who have been affected. There is absolutely no place on our platforms for people who commit such horrendous acts. We have found and immediately deleted the shooter’s accounts on Facebook and Instagram.”

In one social media post in which Cruz discussed talking about buying a gun, it had read, “I plan on getting this but I need more information on it so if someone could give advice on how much I’m spending and background cheeks [sic] please to god let me know.”

Another post reportedly read the Arabic phrase “Allahu Akbar” alongside a Muslim slur. Another post featured a target that had been shot with the caption, “Group Therapy.”

What do we know about Cruz?

Cruz was believed to have been a former student of the school that was the site of the shooting, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. According to authorities, he was an expelled student, due to disciplinary actions, although the exact details of the situation are unclear at this time.

His adoptive mother had died a year beforehand and he was living with a local family that took him in. He is believed to have been enrolled in a GED course and was working at a local Dollar Tree.

According to CNN, an attorney for that family has said that they were aware that Cruz had a gun but kept “it locked up, and believed that that was going to be sufficient, that there wasn’t going to be a problem.” He explained further in the following statement:

“This family did what they thought was right, which was take in a troubled kid and try to help him, and that doesn’t mean he can’t bring his stuff into their house. They had it locked up and believed that that was going to be sufficient, that there wasn’t going to be a problem. Nobody saw this kind of aggression or motive in this kid, that he would ever do anything like this.”

The ‘Republic of Florida’ leader claims Cruz had ‘trouble with a girl’

The leader of a white nationalist militia called the Republic of Florida, Jordan Jereb, has told the Associated Press that Cruz was a member of his group and participated in exercises in Tallahassee, although he claimed that he did not know him personally. In addition, according to WBAL, Jereb has said that Cruz “acted on his own behalf” and is “solely responsible for what he just did.”

In addition, Jereb explained that, while the group wants Florida to become its own white ethnostate, the group does not advocate participating in the modern world, instead preferring to hold “spontaneous random demonstrations.”

Trying to give Cruz a motive, he highlighted the shooter having “trouble with a girl” and suggested that the shooting occurring on Valentine’s Day was not a coincidence.

Despite Jereb’s comments, local authorities do not believe in a connection between Cruz and the group. According to Tallahassee, Lt. Grady Jordan said the following:

“We are still doing some work but we have no known ties between the ROF, Jordan Jereb or the Broward shooter.”

While Russia itself was officially banned from the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, some Russia athletes have made the trip to compete under neutral colors.  One of those athletes is a member of their curling team: the gorgeous Anastasia Bryzgalova.

Bryzgalova, a 25-year-old from Russia, went viral on Twitter due to her incredible good looks and sharp blue eyes. While Russia itself is not actually participating in the games, we sure are glad that AnastasiaBryzgalova is.

Russian curler Anastasia Bryzgalova, 25, has set pulses racing among viewers who are glued to proceedings in Pyeongchang who have been impressed not only by her prowess on the ice but her piercing stare, which makes her look like ‘she can burn holes in the sheet with her eyes’.

The athlete married her curling partner Alexander Krushelnitskiy in June 2017 and the couple enjoyed a sun soaked honeymoon in Spain. The pair won the 2016 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Karlstad, Sweden.

Anastasia took up the sport in 2009 after being attracted by an advertisement for a curling club at an ice sports complex and has a master’s degree from the Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health.

As everyone knows, Russia is not officially competing in the Winter Olympic Games due to the fallout from the nation’s state-sponsored doping scandal. However, 168 clean athletes are taking part wearing neutral colors as “Olympic Athletes from Russia.”

Phi Gamma Delta at Southern Methodist University has ordered to cease all activities while the university investigates hazing allegations.

According to reports, the Delta Tau chapter of Phi Gamma Delta was ordered on Thursday, February 15, while the university looks into reports of hazing. University spokesman Kent Best said in a statement that SMU police issued a conduct referral for a hazing offense at the Fiji house Wednesday evening.

IFC President and FIJI member Adam Byer would not comment on the situation. No additional information was provided at this time.

The chapter was already on probation until spring 2019 because of “irresponsible conduct,” and had been warned that further issues could result in suspension, according to the student newspaper.

The university’s Pi Kappa Alpha chapter was also ordered late last week to cease activities during a hazing investigation. No further details were available about the allegations. The local chapter was also suspended by the international fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha said in a statement.

The university’s code of conduct states that hazing, being hazed or failing to report incidents of hazing could subject students to disciplinary action.

The suspension comes a couple of days after PIKE at SMU was placed on suspension.

This is the latest fraternity suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities.

The Beta Theta Pi fraternity at the University of Central Florida has been suspended after a mother complained that her son was forced to chug a bottle of alcohol while he was pledging.

According to reports, Beta Theta Pi was accused of hazing and providing alcohol to underage students in November after a mother of a student reported that her son was forced to chug a “huge bottle” of alcohol during a pledge event.

While a spokesman for Beta Theta Pi did not answer questions about whether the underage drinking and hazing occurred, they did send out a statement saying the organization is working with students, alumni and university officials to investigate the claims.

The university’s action stemmed from an letter that a mother of a former pledge wrote to Beta Theta Pi’s national organization about her son being dismissed from the fraternity. As a pledge, the woman wrote, her son had to perform favors for the current members, including providing rides to them and their girlfriends and cleaning the house for parties at 4 a.m. And, the mother wrote, her son was sick after fraternity members forced him to drink Smirnoff Ice.

“Being concerned, I did not understand why one drink made him sick until he sent a picture of the huge bottle he was pressured and forced to chug,” she wrote. “I told him that he needed to be careful as he is not used to drinking, and I was worried about him and the other pledges.”

The mother said her son was told he was asked to join Beta Theta Pi because of his high GPA, social life, community service and participation in intramural sports.

A hearing for the organization has been scheduled for February 16.

This is the latest fraternity suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities.

Despite their immense size and imposing girth, defensive linemen are actually some of the more athletic and versatile athletes on the field. Sure, some of these gargantuan defenders can make a decent living off of simply pushing around offensive linemen, but the elite playmakers at this particular position are almost always much more opportunistic. As always, the main goal of any defensive player that plays on the line of scrimmage is to attack the quarterback relentlessly. Even if a sack is not recorded, simply pressuring and flustering an opposing passer can be the difference between forcing a turnover or allowing a big play to occur. They may not be the most widely recognized or appreciated athletes on the field, but the physical grit and mental toughness that is required to be a stout defensive lineman cannot be overlooked.

10. Haloti Ngata

Once considered one of the best nose tackles in the league, the aging yet still effective Haloti Ngata is still an above average defender when healthy. Although he may not be the imposing quarterback rusher or opportunistic playmaker that he was when played for the Baltimore Ravens, Ngata is still capable of being an efficient lineman if only because of his imposing size and strength.

9. Shamar Stephen

Any player that played on the Vikings defensive line should be considered a top free agent this year. Although the overall numbers may not show it, Shamar Stephen was a bully on the defensive line as he was a constant nuisance when pursuing opposing quarterbacks. At 26 years old, Stephen is still coming into his own and should be able to garner a fairly lucrative contract in March.

8. Tyrunn Walker

Another relatively unknown defensive linemen whose career was revived last year with the Los Angeles Rams, Tyrunn Walker became tenacious when forcing turnovers and pursuing the quarterback. Given his youth and athleticism, Walker has a strong chance of becoming a well-paid lineman in free agency.

7. Dominique Easley

Underutilized during the first two years of his career in New England, Dominique Easly exploded onto the scene as a vicious tackler for the Los Angeles Rams as he could both sack the quarterback and force fumbles from time to time. Although it would be surprising if the Los Angeles Rams let one of their star defensive linemen walk in free agency, Easley has the all the leverage given his age (25) and his impressive production on the field last season.

6. Kyle Williams

Although he may be slightly undersized (6’1″) and near the tail end of his career, Kyle Williams has been an effective and cerebral tackler throughout his career. While he may not be the sacking machine that he was in his prime, Williams is still a reliable lineman that can consistently burst through opposing offensive lines.

5. DaQuan Jones

Versatile and athletic, DaQuan Jones has the intimidating bulk of a defensive lineman yet the speed and motor of a defensive end. Setting a career high in sacks with the Tennessee Titans last season (3.5), Jones has quickly become a frustrating assignment for offensive linemen to cover and should only continue to become even more dynamically dominant as he gains more experience.

4. Bennie Logan

After an incredibly unproductive season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016, Bennie Logan emphatically proved on a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs that he is still a tenaciously gifted lineman. Recording 52 combined tackles, Logan’s effort output on every play was spectacular, which should allow him to secure a long-term contract in free agency.

3. Star Lotulelei

Although Star Lotulelei may not be the most prolific defensive lineman from a statistical perspective, the veteran defensive player has one of the most relentless motors in the NFL. On top of that, Lotulelei is incredibly strong and especially tenacious when pursuing the quarterback despite being slightly undersized at 6’2″

2. Sheldon Richardson

At 295 lbs, Sheldon Richardson is a bit on the lean side compared to most defensive linemen. However, the elite defensive tackle more than makes up for it by being intelligent and aggressive when seeking the weaknesses in opposing offensive lines. Although he regressed slightly from a statistical standpoint in 2017, this should not deter NFL teams from signing what is one of the hardest working defensive players in the NFL.

1. Dontari Poe

At 6’3″ and 346 lbs, Dontari Poe is a formidable wrecking ball that is especially effective at playing the nose tackle position. His relentless physicality combined with his tremendous motor has allowed Poe to be a deadly tackler that is exceptional at collapsing the pocket around opposing quarterbacks. Simply put, Poe is an ideal anchor for a defensive line that wants to establish an identity of being both monstrous and determined at disrupting opposing offenses consistently.

What do we know so far about the upcoming attraction?

The area will be in the Orlando park’s Hollywood Studios and is set to open on June 30.

Bringing the characters from the Toy Story films to life, guests will be made to feel like they have been “shrunk down” to toy-size. Visitors entering the area will be greeted by a 15-foot Woody; other expected costumed characters include Jessie, Rex, Buzz Lightyear and the green army men.

Some rides for the area will include a “Slinky-Dog Dash” roller coaster, in which guests will ride the titular toy around colorful building blocks and Jenga sets, and the “Alien Swirling Saucers,” a variation of the swirling teacup ride with a spinning toy rocket. There will also be an expanded version of 3D-shooting ride Toy Story Mania!, featuring three tracks.

A restaurant in the area will be an enlarged replica of Andy’s lunchbox, serving Toy Story-inspired food, including old-fashioned soda floats, according to The Tampa Bay Times. If you are wondering why they didn’t just create a real-life Pizza Planet, there reportedly already is one in the Florida park; in fact, there is also a bigger one in the Paris park!

Despite playing in just 12 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2017, Anthony Hitchens was still able to set a career high in combined tackles (84). At age 25, Hitchens is still developing his skill set and has the potential to be a fantastic playmaker when it comes to sacking the quarterback on a consistent basis.

6. Jon Bostic

Although the Indianapolis Colts were largely an inept team defensively in 2017, Jon Bostic was one of the few bright spots for the woeful franchise. Recording 97 combined tackles, Bostic clearly has the strong hands and the tenacity to be a disruptive linebacker, he just needs to be a bit more consistent when taking down the quarterback.

5. Preston Brown

Since his inaugural season in 2014, Preston has recorded more than 100 combined tackles per season, a statistical feat that is incredibly difficult to accomplish. Considering that the stud linebacker has never missed a game in his four-year career, Brown is a worthy addition to a team that is looking for consistent production from a player that rarely fails at tackling the opposition.

4. Zach Brown

Accruing seven interceptions over his five-year career, Zach Brown is an extremely athletic linebacker that is effective at dropping back in coverage. On top of that, Brown is a fierce tackler that is fantastic at pursuing running backs and taking down quarterbacks that spend a little too much time remaining in the pocket.

3. Todd Davis

An underrated yet effective part of the Denver Broncos prolific front seven, Todd Davis will most likely be looking to establish himself as a respective and elite linebacker on a team that needs help on the defensive line. The tenacity and skill set is obviously there, Davis just needs the requisite reps and trust to take the next step to become a well-known linebacker in the NFL.

2. Avery Williamson

A linebacker with an incredibly high floor from a production standpoint, Avery Williamson is effective as a tackler, quarterback sacker and as a pass intercepter in coverage. Considering his youth (age 25) and his ability to stay healthy (has missed just one game in his four-year career), Williamson should be offered a fairly lucrative contract in free agency.

1. NaVorro Bowman

Although NaVorro Bowman may be considered washed up and doomed to regress mightily in the very near future, the veteran linebacker is still a sensational tackler and is incredibly physical despite being just 6’0″. If Bowman can stay out of trouble and keep his focus on being a relentless playmaker, the somewhat forgotten linebacker could be due for an amazing bounce back season in 2018.
