The Boston Celtics are traveling out to the west coast to battle it out with their longtime rival LA Lakers. The rivalry dates back to the days of Magic vs. Bird and has only grown with Kobe vs. the Big 3. The Boston Celtics (34-13) are currently on a three-game losing streak as they fly into the Staples Center. The Celtics are coming off a four-game home stand where they went 1-3, so this west coast trip will do a lot for how they finish this first half of the season. Boston is lead by Kyrie Irving who’s having himself one heck of season averaging 24.5 points! Al Horford is low key been leading the Celtics in assists, rebounds, and steals per game, both of them are going to have to show up to beat the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers (17-29) are fresh off their second win in a row and 5th straight at home after blowing out the Knicks by 20! The Lakers might be without 2nd overall pick Lonzo Ball for this one; Ball leads the team with 7.1 assists and rebound per game. Lucky for the Lakers they will be with their top two scorers with Kyle Kuzman and Brandon Ingram who are averaging 16.4 and 15.7 points per game respectively. Luke Walton is trying his best to win with an extremely young roster with the only true veteran being Brook Lopez who has brought excellent leadership to the team. The Lakers future is bright, and they want to show the Celtics that they aren’t going to be in the cellar of the league for long.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Office

Louisa Anna Turpin had been identified as the mother of 13 malnourished children who were chained to beds in a Perris, California home. Riverside County sheriff’s deputies arrived after one of the children, a 17-year-old, escaped and called 911.

According to reports, The Turpins have lived in Perris since 2014, and all of the children, ranging in age from 2 to 29, were homeschooled. Investigators have yet to determine how long the children had been living in those conditions. When Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they gave food and water to the children, who said they were “starving.” They were transported to hospitals for treatment and their conditions were not released.

Furthermore, investigators said that there was no “immediate information” to suggest sexual abuse and that there was “no indication of mental illness” in the Turpin family.

The 17-year-old girl called 911 from a de-activated cell phone after she escaped through a window, Fellows said. The teen showed deputies photos of the conditions in the home that led them to respond to the residence and interview David and Louise Turpin.

The grandparents of the children told ABC News that David and Louise were deeply religious and believed God had called on them to have so many kids. Fellows, however, said he had no information on any religious organization that may have played a role in the parents’ motives for the abuse of the children.

According to Fellows, the condition of the chained-up, malnourished children and the filthy home were a shock to investigators. “There was a very foul smell inside the residence. It was extremely dirty,” said Fellows.

The Sheriff’s office did not indicate how long the siblings had been held captive.

The parents of the children, Louise, 49, and David Allen Turpin, 57, were both arrested on nine counts each of torture and child endangerment and were being held in jail with bail set at $9 million each.

With 18.5 tackles for a loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception, Teuhema is a highly explosive and athletic linebacker that could quickly rise up draft boards given his dynamic skill set.

8. Darius Leonard, South Carolina State

Extremely fast with a tremendous motor that does not quit, Darius Leonard is a tackling machine that regularly makes plays behind the line of scrimmage. With 42 tackles for a loss and 13.5 sacks over his three collegiate seasons, Leonard has the elite playmaking ability and size to be a highly successful linebacker in the NFL.

7. James Hearns, Louisville

One of the more intriguing pass rushers in this years draft class, James Hearns is loose and fast to close on opposing quarterbacks. Although he was streaky this past season in terms of production and effort, his impressive skill set of rushing the passer is already developed, suggesting that the inconsistent linebacker has yet to even come close to hitting his ceiling of being a dominant linebacker in the pros.

6. Malik Jefferson, Texas

Although some pundits may question Malik Jefferson’s love for the game of football, it only takes one look at his impressive production from this past season to see that this far from the truth. With 110 tackles and 10 sacks, Jefferson is a relentless pursuit linebacker that has a nice combination of size and speed to consistently make tackles in the open field.

5. Dorance Armstrong Jr., Kansas

Despite playing for a dreadful program in Kansas, Dorance Armstrong Jr. was still ruthless and physical despite being double teamed constantly. Although Armstrong only accumulated 63 tackles in 2017, he converted those hits into 9.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks, and four forced fumbles, suggesting that the speedy and sizeable edge rusher has much more to offer than the meek numbers display.

4. Rashaan Evans, Alabama

Even though Rashaan Evans only registered 66 tackles this past season, he was able to make the most of those limited opportunities as he consistently and effective hit would be runners behind the line of scrimmage (11.5 tackles for a loss) and was particularly deadly when he utilized his speed to hit the quarterback (six sacks). Combined with his impressive athleticism, Evans has all of the physical tools to be a potent edge rusher at the next level.

3. Harold Landry, Boston College

Although the highly touted and versatile linebacker missed several games due to an ankle injury during his senior season, Harold Landry had 8.5 tackles for a loss and five sacks even though he recorded just 38 tackles on the season. While Landry had a rough outing against the Fighting Irish when it came to stopping the run, this most likely was the result of his wavering health issues rather than his supposed ineptitude in that regard.

2. Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia Tech

Lengthy, extremely fast and opportunistic when it comes to finding the football, Tremaine Edmunds has both the skill set and size to be highly productive in the NFL. With 14 tackles for a loss, Edmunds has the motor and instincts to find the football, which will be less than ideal for opposing ball handlers that are unfortunate enough to experience his wrath.

1. Roquan Smith, Georgia

Having the ability and versatile skill sets to play either inside or outside, Roquan Smith is a natural tackler when defending the run and was also reliable in coverage. With 137 tackles in 2017, Smith has the motor and physicality to make plays anywhere on the field, which will allow him to be a consummate leader anywhere across the defensive line for a team that is lucky enough to snag him up sometime during the first round of the draft.

Joel Taylor of the Discovery Channel television show Storm Chasers has passed away at the age of 38-years-old.

Taylor studied meteorology at the University of Oklahoma before appearing on Discovery’s Storm Chasers from 2008 to 2012.

Reed Timmer, a friend of Taylor’s who co-starred on Storm Chasers, wrote on Twitter:

“RIP my best friend and storm chasing partner, Joel Taylor. I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend. We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I’ll miss you forever, Joel. We lost a legend.”

The storm chasing community is reeling from the news of Joel Taylor’s sudden death. He was 38.

The Elk City, Oklahoma, native, who starred on Discovery Channel’s documentary reality television series Storm Chasers, died on Tuesday, according to his friends who shared the sad news on social media.

The cause of Joel’s death remains unclear at this time. It is not believed to be storm chasing-related.

Storm Chasers was an American documentary reality television series that premiered on October 17, 2007, on the Discovery Channel. The show followed teams of storm chasers as they attempt to intercept tornadoes in Tornado Alley in the United States. The show was canceled at the end of its 5th season by Discovery Communications on January 21, 2012.

Let’s be frank for a minute. Watching defensive tackles perform their duties is akin to watching paint dry in the middle of summer. However, what these big bodied, formidable forces lack in entertainment value they more than makeup for with off the charts physicality and strength to both stifle opposing rushers and collapse the pocket protecting happy go, lucky quarterbacks. Although most fans would struggle to name five elite defensive tackles in the NFL, the importance of having a hefty anchor that can set the tone on the defensive line cannot be overlooked. Similar to offensive lineman, defensive tackles will most likely never get much credit for doing the dirty work that allows their respective offenses to get on the field to do what they do best.

10. Derrick Nnadi, Florida State

Relentless when making plays at the point of attack, Derrick Nnadi possesses an impressive combination of strength and quickness. Although his diminutive size for the position could limit his abilities to bully some offensive linemen at the next level, Nnadi is aggressive and fast enough to find the football and contribute as a consistent gang tackler.

9. Andrew Brown, Virginia

With 10.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks, Andrew Brown is an immensely talented tackler that flashes elite athleticism to pester and take down opposing quarterbacks. Although he lacks the motor of a true first-round talent, Brown could alleviate many of his inconsistency concerns with an impressive showing at the Senior Bowl.

8. Tim Settle, Virginia Tech

Although Tim Settle’s draft stock will most likely be downgraded because he shows the skill set of the less coveted position of a nose tackle, he has the massive frame and physical assets needed to be a wreaking ball against the run. With 12.5 tackles for a loss, Settle will tirelessly pursue any ball handler that gets near him, which should allow him to become a respected starter sooner rather than later.

7. R.J. McIntosh, Miami

While R.J. McIntosh does everything you would expect an athletic defensive linemen to do in terms of tackling, he is also very adept at being disruptive when it comes to blocking passes (seven passes broken up). On top of that, McIntosh has the versatility to play a tackle in a 4-3 and serve as an effective defensive end in a 3-4.

6. Rasheem Green, USC

Great instincts with the cerebral abilities to recognize plays, Rasheem Green is a deadly force against both the pass and rushing games despite being underweight for the position. Even if Green is forced to ultimately become a defensive end in the NFL, he as a nose for both batting down passes while consistently rushing and taking down quarterbacks (10 sacks).

5. Taven Bryan, Florida

Drawing comparisons to Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe, Taven Bryan has the ferocity to be a scary great tackle that is able to terrify and dominate opposing offensive lineman. However, Bryan needs to be dominant more consistently if he hopes to be a starter in the NFL. With that said, Bryan has the explosiveness and hands to shed blocks and relentlessly pursue the quarterback, attributes that are highly coveted in elite defensive tackles.

4. Maurice Hurst, Michigan

With exceptional first step quickness, Maurice Hurst has the impressive reflexes and vision to find his gaps and make big plays in the backfield consistently. Although his size is somewhat concerning, his off the charts athleticism and speed suggest that Hurst has all the makings of incredible steal come draft day.

3. Vita Vea, Washington

Although Vita Vea is physically built more like a nose tackle than a defensive tackle, his wide-ranging and versatile skill set cannot be denied. Vea’s intimidating strength combined with his unexpected quickness will allow him to be an unmovable force against the run while his size will allow him to occasionally collapse the pocket as a pass rusher. Based on his physical measurables, Vea has the potential to be a physical tank akin to what Brandon Williams is for the Baltimore Ravens.

2. Da’Ron Payne, Alabama

Freakishly fast and athletic, Da’Ron Payne is a fantastic run defender that rarely fails to defend his gaps. When rushing the passer, Payne demonstrated the impressive abilities of both collapsing the pocket and pressuring the quarterback. Arguably the most physical defensive tackle in the draft, Payne will be a defensive line coaches ideal prodigy as he has a relentless motor and the dynamic abilities to be dominant at the next level.

1. Christian Wilkins, Clemson

A tackling machine with the size and athleticism to constantly disrupt plays at the points of attack, Christian Wilkins lived up to the lofty expectations draft experts had about him going into the 2017 season. As a fast interior pass rusher, Wilkins possesses the coveted skill set of a smart and physical defensive tackle that will constantly prevent quarterbacks from being comfortable in the pocket.

Jake Pulliam is a student at Oklahoma State student who allegedly posted a racist Snapchat, has been removed from OSU’s chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Pulliam allegedly posted a Snapchat story on Monday, January 15, which was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with the caption “Bodak Black N******

Ival Gregory, Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs at Oklahoma State University, confirmed Pulliam’s dismissal in an email to The O’Colly, Oklahoma State’s student newspaper. Oklahoma State University president Burns Hargis released a statement regarding the incident on Wednesday, January 17, condemning Pulliam’s behavior. Hargis said the university met with Pulliam and removed him from his position in residential life.

This is the second racist incident involving a fraternity or sorority member this week, as University of Alabama sorority sister Harley Barber was kicked out of her Alpha Phi sorority and expelled from the university.

Gregory, Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs at OSU, said that “It is my understanding that action took place on the evening of January 16, 2018, once the fraternity leadership was aware of the allegations. That sort of behavior is inexcusable and not acceptable in any civilized community.”

OSU President Hargis also released a full statement, saying:

“It is a shame he would exercise his right of free speech in a hurtful and insensitive way. It is especially reprehensible that this occurred as our nation celebrated the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Intolerance and discrimination of any person or group is not acceptable on the Oklahoma State University campus. “Offensive, hurtful language only seeks to divide and damage our campus community. On behalf of the university, I want to apologize to members of the OSU community, especially our African American students, who are hurt by this latest incident.

It is maddening and disappointing when these type of hateful incidents repeat themselves. We are better than this at OSU. I challenge every member of the OSU community to do what you can to help fight intolerance and make Oklahoma State University the best it can be.”

His co-star Reed Timmer took to Twitter to confirm the news, writing: ““I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend. Joel was always fascinated by storms and studied Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma where he first met his future co-star Reed Timmer. He joined Storm Chasers in 2008.

Joel’s final Facebook post was a happy family announcement welcoming his new niece on January 15, sharing news of his niece’s birth, he wrote: “My first niece arrived this morning!”

The cause of death is still unknown but thought to not have been related to storm chasing.

On Facebook, Western Oklahoma storm chasing group Team Western OK Chaser posted a tribute to the late star saying: “Our community of Elk City and the storm chasing community lost a great guy today. Joel Taylor was truly an inspiration to myself and many who knew him. He was one of the most level-headed chasers on the roads and truly a classy guy outside of chasing. He didn’t chase for the glory he chased because he had a true passion for storms. In the last few years, he’d load up with his dad and go chase and not even take a camera.”

The Discovery Channel bio for Joel speaks to his passion and reads: “Growing up near the heart of tornado alley, Joel had a front-row seat to plenty of severe storms and tornadoes. Always fascinated by these phenomena, he attended the University of Oklahoma to study meteorology. The two have intercepted countless tornadoes, and with Joel’s keen knowledge of the back roads of the Great Plains, he has long been the trusted driver of Reed’s TVN team.”

Co-workers, celebrities, and fans alike are taking to Twitter to eulogize the young star, and thank him for the work he’s done for the meteorology community.

Toys R Us, the 70-year-old American toy retailer, is planning on closing up to 182 stores across the country, about one-fifth of its U.S. store fleet.  The retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September 2017, and these closures will come as part of that reorganization plan.

Toys R Us has long been struggling against other big-box retailers, like Walmart and Target, who have taken a large chunk of their toy market sales. Online mammoth Amazon is also eating up significant sales. However, when Toys R Us initially filed for bankruptcy they said they weren’t planning on closing any stores, and instead hoped to open additional smaller locations.

Sales during the holiday season were well below expected and ultimately forced Toys R Us to rethink its reorganization plan and execute mass retail closures. Closures and going-out-of-business sales are set to begin in early February and run through mid-April of this year.

With a career spanning the decades, Elton John is expected to announce his retirement from touring after one final world tour.

The singer announced his retirement on social media, as seen above. In recent years, the singer has struggled with health issues, recently contracting a rare bacterial infection during a South American tour last year, which cause him to cancel shows in Las Vegas at the time. Retiring from making live performances will also give him time to spend with his family.

Jacob Stephens, a former Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity brother at the University of Oklahoma, has been charged with embezzling $32,000 of the fraternity’s dues.

Stephens, a former “trusted” member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity at OU, was made treasurer soon after joining the frat. According to Matthew Mullins, a brother in the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, Stephens had been a national merit scholar and “was really into his studies the first semester I ever met him when he was a freshman.”

In Spring 2017, members of the fraternity noticed that the chapter’s bank account had no money left in it. Members looked at photocopies of checks issued over the past two years and found that Stephens had been writing out checks to himself for large sums of money.

The affidavit also said he was making unauthorized transactions at the Republic Bank & Trust in Norman, where the fraternity’s account was located. In all, he was found to have allegedly stolen about $32,000.

“All the money that kids saved up over winter break, working or their parents had put aside for them,” Mullins said.

When they confronted Stephens about the money, they said he acted confused and denied it.

“He and his girlfriend said that someone else must have been forging all those checks,” Mullins said.

But, according to the affidavit, the checks issued by Stephens were deposited into his Capital One, N.A. account. The night they confronted him, his brothers said he disappeared and hasn’t been seen since.

With no money left in their account, the fraternity chapter was forced to cancel the remaining events for the year. A warrant has been issued for Stephens’ arrest.

Gabe Parker is allegedly the 15-year-old suspect in custody for the shooting at Marshall County High School that left two students dead and 18 students injured, with at least 3 being in critical condition. The shooting took place just prior to 8 AM local time at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky. Beaton is approximately 120 miles northwest of Nashville, Tennessee.

A 15-year-old female student, Bailey Nicole Holt, died at the scene of the shooting and a 15-year-old male student, later identified as Preston Ryan Cope, died at the hospital.

The student was allegedly arrested and will be charged with two counts murder and multiple counts of attempted murder. The student’s stepsister allegedly defended him on Facebook, saying he was “not a monster” and that he was “bullied”. News outlets such as Heavy are identifying that Parker is the suspect in the photo.

Police have not yet confirmed the shooter’s identity or released a motive for the shooting, however, local town forums and Facebook pages are identifying the shooter as Parker.

Five of the victims were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, officials said. Among the patients was the 15-year-old boy who did not survive; he was shot in the head, doctors said.

“Of the four remaining victims at Vanderbilt, three are in critical but stable condition and one is in stable condition,” the state police said late Tuesday.

The suspect will be charged with two counts murder and multiple counts of attempted murder, according to Rick Sanders, Kentucky State Police commissioner.

The first shots were fired at 7:57 a.m., and the first 911 call was received at 7:59 a.m. There was a Marshall County Sheriff’s Department School Resource Officer on site at the time of the shooting. The suspect, a 15 year old male student, was taken into custody on site in a non-violent apprehension by the Marshall County Sheriff Department. The suspect had used a handgun in the shooting.

Twenty people were affected during the shooting, 16 of which suffered gunshot wounds. Of those suffering gunshot wounds, one died at the scene and one died after being flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center. In total, five were transported to Vanderbilt, the others to local hospitals. Victims ranged in age from 14 to 18 years old. Fourteen victims were male, and six were female. Of the four remaining victims at Vanderbilt, three are in critical but stable condition and one is in stable condition.

Bailey Nicole Holt, age 15, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner. Preston Ryan Cope, age 15, was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

A counseling center will be open at the old Pepsi Bottling Plant at 1531 Highway 641 North, Benton, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning tomorrow. A family resource center has been set up at the Kentucky Agriculture Extension Office at 1533 Mayfield Highway, Benton. The investigation is being led by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team (KSP CIRT), with assistance from local and federal agencies.

Are you fascinated by drones? They’ve put commercial shipping on a whole new level and that’s not even getting into their recreational use. Could you image them helping you to afford college? Well, now they can! The Drone Pilot Ground School is offering what they are calling the “Drone Technology College Scholarship!” There are two scholarships available: one for high-school students, originating from 2017, and a more recent one for current college students.

High School STEM Scholarship

High school students interested in drones have access to a scholarship that allows them free access to an online Part 107 test prep course (worth around $299) for an FAA drone pilot license. The first 100 applicants who take the FAA Aeronautical Knowledge Test will also have their FAA test fee, which is worth around $150, covered.

In order to apply, students must be at least 16 years of age, be enrolled in high school and be a resident of the United States. Students must then write a 250-500 word essay answering one of three questions:

• “Tell us your drone story. How did you first learn about drones? What captivates you about small unmanned aerial systems?”
• “Tell us about your involvement in drones to date. What models have you flown? What would you like to fly? Are you a member of any school clubs, classes, or organizations that have helped to push your interest forward?”
• “How do you plan to use your FAA Remote Pilot Certificate? What are your professional aspirations in the drone industry?”

Students must also upload a letter of support from an educator, such as a teacher or a robotics/engineering club leader.

For students currently enrolled in a college or university, two non-renewable scholarships will award $1,000 each to lucky students.

In order to apply, students must answer three pieces of writing:

• In an essay of around 750 to 1,000 words, students can answer one of the following questions:
  • “How Drones Can Be Used to do Good?”
  • “How Drones Will Change Our World Over the Next Ten Years?”
  • “How Drones Can Be Used for STEM Education?”
• A paragraph in which the student talks about themselves, like their education and career plans, including their interest in drones
• A paragraph explaining what they would do with the scholarship money

In addition, the students also need to submit a letter of recommendation from an educator, which can include an advisor or coach.

All applications for the college scholarship must be submitted by May 1, 2018 and the winners will be announced on May 11, 2018.

The Kentucky school shooting was at least the 11th school shooting incident of the year so far. Two students were killed Tuesday and 18 other people were wounded when a 15-year-old boy armed with a handgun opened fire inside a Kentucky high school. Little is known about the motives of the Marshall County shooter, who was arrested after the violence. His name has not been released as well.

Nearly 18 of the wounded were injured by gunfire and a few were hurt while trying to escape, state police said Tuesday night. Three of the victims were listed in critical condition Tuesday night at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The two deaths that struck the school were two young teens. Bailey Nicole Holt, 15, who died at the scene, and Preston Ryan Cope, 15, who died later at a trauma center.

Cope, a 15-year-old boy is remembered for his positive outlook on life and love of baseball. One friend wrote a tribute to Cope on Facebook.

Both Cope and Holt are remembered to be positive and uplifting people.

Another friend wrote on Snapchat, “You will be missed buddy, you were always inspiring in weightlifting class always pushing your limits… Preston, you were definitely the best friend I’ve ever had you never ever had anything negative to say you were so beyond positive about everything and I’m going to miss you, man.”

What About The Gunman And Other Victims?

The name of the gunman has not been released by authorities, but we will keep you updated as more details come to light. As for the other victims, there have not been any updates as of yet. A few were in critical and others luckily survived, but no word on their injuries.

At least one of the injured victims hopped onto Snapchat to remind others that the boy who shot everyone was hurting inside too, even though she had a bullet in her chest.

Elton John has announced a plan to retire after one last world tour. The legendary singer, known for hits such as “Tiny Dancer,” “Rocket Man,” and “Your Song” is taking some well deserved time off after nearly 50 years on the road. The news was announced via a joint press conference hosted simultaneously in New York and London on Wednesday. The decision was made out of a desire on the part of the singer to spend more time with his two sons. John also spent some time in intensive care just last year after falling ill in South America with a harmful bacterial infection. One of the most celebrated musical acts of all time, John began his career in 1963 and has sold over 300 million records to date.

The Early Years

Elton John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25th, 1947 in Pinner, Middlesex. He studied at Pinner County Grammar School before leaving at age 17 to pursue a career in the music industry. This was much to the dismay of John’s father who preferred his son follow a more practical career path. John has often said that his use of extravagant costumes was a way of fighting against the repressive, restrictive nature of his youth. At age 11, he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music and studied piano. He began playing at local pub under the stage name “Reggie,” playing mostly standards and popular hits, but as he was doing this he was developing an interest in composing his own songs. Soon John was working as a staffed musician and writer, backing acts like Patti Labelle with his group Bluesology. After answering an advertisement in the British magazine New Musical Express, John was introduced to Bernie Taupin, who would become a long time collaborator for the iconic singer. Together, the duo started writing songs for other musical acts.

1960’s-1970’s

As a writing team, John and Taupin began releasing albums together that was gaining more and more attention. In 1970, “Your Song” reached number seven in the UK singles chart and number eight in the US, becoming John’s first big hit. In 1973 the singer received worldwide critical acclaim for the album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which included hits like “Bennie and the Jets” and the song “Candle In the Wind,” written in honor of the late Princess Diana.

1970’s-1990’s

John soon launched The Rocket Record Company and started signing acts he took a personal interest in. At the height of his career, John’s costumes began getting more and more elaborate, and he took an interest in theater. Pete Townshend of The Who asked John to play a character in the rock opera Tommy, and to perform the song “Pinball Wizard.” And in 1975, John’s album Captin Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy debuted at number one in the US. In the same year, John received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In  1976, John announced via Rolling Stone that he was bisexual, but he did not begin his relationship with David Furnish until 1993. In 1983, he once again claimed a number one hit with the album Too Low for Zero, which included the songs “I’m Still Standing” and “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues.” As if John needed any more qualifications to add to his resume, he collaborated with Tim Rice on the soundtrack of Disney’s The Lion King in 1992, penning unforgettable songs such as “The Circle Of Life.” He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. John has also used his influence to create the Elton John AIDS Foundation, launching the charity in 1992 to fund AIDS prevention programmes and help those in need.

2000’s – Present

In 2005, John returned to his love of musical theater with Billy Elliot the Musical, which opened to favorable reviews and won John four Laurence Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical. He and his partner David Furnish became one of the first couples to wed in 2005 in the UK, the day the Civil Partnership Act was introduced.The couple have two sons, Zachary Jackson Levi, six, and four-year-old Elijah Joseph Daniel, born using a surrogate mother. Based on his hugely successful theatrical resume, it may come as no surprise then that John is currently working on the music for an adaptation of Aline Brosh Mckenna’s The Devil Wears Prada on Broadway. The NBA All-Star has a fascinating dynamic to it, nobody really cares about the game itself, but everyone cares about who is playing in it. One of the peoples favorite things to do around the time of the all-star game is listing all the players who got left out of the game despite being deserving. In the past I’ve called All-Star snub lists Damian Lillard and Co. but by the tracer of the fans, D-Lil is finally an all-star! There are more elite players left out of the game this year than any other year I can think of. I understand that each conference is allowed 12 players and there are just too few spots to accommodate everyone but here are the guys who got ripped off.

Paul George: SF/PF Oklahoma City Thunder

Paul George is leading the charge of all-star snubs this year, and it’s an absolute travesty that they left PG13 off the list. He is dominating this year especially on the defensive end of the floor. PG is leading the NBA in deflections per game while being tied for the league lead in steals with 93. George is shooting a better percentage from 3 this year, spreading the floor for his team and is doing all the little things to allow Russ to run the show in OKC. Paul George got screwed over here he should at least be a reserve over Klay Thompson or Damian Lillard.

Chris Paul: PG Houston Rockets

As always some of the most prominent snubs are coming to the Western Conference point guards, the fact of the matter is there are just so many good guards in the west it’s hard only to pick a handful. Chris Paul made nine straight all-star games from 2008-2016 but has been left out the last two all-star games. When Chris Paul has been in the lineup for Houston, they’ve been almost unbeatable going 23-5. Cp3 should be an all-star simply because of the apparent impact he makes on the roster around him.

Lou Williams: PG LA Clippers

Lou Will is just as surprised as we are that he’s not an all-star this year, he’s been everything the Clippers could have hoped for and more! He’s been the offensive spark they’ve been searching for to replace CP3 and JJ Redick. Lou Williams is having himself a great year on a team where for a majority of the season he was kind of by himself. Lou is averaging a remarkable 23.3 points per game and is second on the team in usage rate only behind Blake Griffin who’s missed significant time due to injury. Lou Will is beloved by all so let’s get him in the game somehow.

Andre Drummond: C Detroit Pistons

Andre Drummond is having one of the best seasons of his career and somehow didn’t make the all-star game. Drummond is leading the NBA in rebounding averaging a whopping 15 boards a game. The most significant knock on Drummond’s game has always been his free throw shooting especially after he shot a horrendous 38.6 percent last season he is now up to 62.9 percent from the line this season. Andre is also averaging a career-high 3.9 assists, how are you going to tell me a guy with a stat line of 14.3 points, 3.9 assists, 15 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.2 blocks doesn’t belong in the all-star game. He should easily be in over Kevin Love.

The NBA has been very open about its desires to legalize gambling for NBA games. The NBA has outlined a plan for all leagues to benefit from lea glazing this multi-billion dollar industry. Dan Spillane, an attorney for the NBA, testified in front of a New York State Senate committee to lay out exactly what the NBA’s price would be. “We have studied these issues at length,” Spillane said in his statement to lawmakers. “Our conclusion is that the time has come for a different approach that gives sports fans a safe and legal way to wager on sporting events while protecting the integrity of the underlying competitions.”

The NBA’s request would bring in a ludicrous amount of money to the league which it can use to expand technology within the game. The NBA’s asking price is 1% of all the bets placed along with other regulations, this doesn’t seem like much but when you look big picture its massive.

NBA Adam Silver has said that there is upwards of $400 billion bet illegally on sports each year. So for argument’s sake lets say $100 billion was bet on NBA games that means the NBA would receive $1 billion in gambling fees on top of the other regulations and fees companies would pay them. Silver is on the forefront of the legalizing gambling train because he sees the amount of revenue that it can bring in for the league. Many leagues have been against it and spent millions of dollars trying to halt gambling in its tracks, but Silver is the opposite. Silver will lead the flip or philosophy for all leagues. “States like New York and others have reacted by moving forward to discuss and advance new laws that could immediately there after permit legal sports betting,” Spillane said. “We cannot sit on the sidelines while this activity is occurring.”

The NBA also wants to make gambling more accessible for fans by adding kiosks and allowing bets to be placed via smartphone instead of having to go to a casino or a racetrack. The convenience of being able to place a bet wherever you are will allow for more wagers to be placed and more money to be made by the NBA. I am all for the idea of legalizing gambling if I ran a sports league, it’s not like making it illegal is going to stop people from doing it so you might as well get in on some of the action!

Logan Paul released his first vlog since his controversial Japanese suicide forest video called “Suicide: Be Here Tomorrow”.

Following the controversial release of his video, Paul decided he wanted to “make an effort to contribute and immerse himself and conversation”, so he has pledged $1 million to various suicide charities, with the first $250,000 going to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline so they can increase their capacity to help those in need.

“I know I’ve made mistakes. I know I’ve let people down. But what happens when you’re given an opportunity to help make a difference in the world?” he says in the clip. “It’s time to learn from the past as I get better and grow as a human being. I’m here to have a hard conversation as those who are suffering can have easier ones. ”

“It’s time to start a new chapter in my life as I continue to educate myself and others on suicide,” he says. “I’m humbled and thankful to say, this is just the beginning.”

The original 15-minute video, which was posted on Sunday, December 31, showed Paul and friends traveling through a forest at the base of Japan’s Mount Fuji known as the “Suicide Forest”. The “Suicide Forest” is infamous for the high number of self-inflicted deaths that happen there per year.

Paul, 22, was born on April 1, 1995, in Westlake, Ohio. He began making videos for YouTube when he was 10-years-old, eventually launching his own channel called Zoosh. He achieved widespread fame following the launch of Vine.
