Marisela Mendoza Winn, a 39-year-old former Texas teacher, has been charged after an unidentified student confessed to his mother he was having a sexual relationship with the teacher.

Winn, who was immediately fired from IDEA McAllen Public Schools, was charged with having an improper relationship with a student.

According to reports, Winn allegedly met the 16-year-old victim when he was a student in her English class. The teen’s mother reported the relationship to authorities after the teen admitted he visited his former teacher’s apartment on numerous occasions to “perform sexual acts.” Police then allegedly found nearly 5,000 pages of texts between Winn and the teen, including a “vulgar message” from Winn.

An investigation began on Nov. 22, 2017, when a woman reported to McAllen police that her 16-year-old son—assigned the pseudonym “Fernando” in the criminal complaint—confessed he had a sexual relationship with his former English teacher, according to the criminal complaint. The woman reported that Fernando “also confessed to going to Maricela Mendoza Winn’s apartment multiple times to perform sexual acts,” according to the criminal complaint.

Throughout the course of an investigation, police say they found approximately 5,000 pages of texts between the two, including a vulgar text sent from Winn to Fernando.

IDEA Public Schools released a full statement to CBS 4:

“IDEA Public Schools is committed to ensuring the safety of our students on the road to and through college. The employee in question has been on administrative leave as authorities conducted an investigation, and has since been released from IDEA Public Schools. We are cooperating fully with the investigation, and we have taken all appropriate actions in accordance with the law and network policy. As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot comment any further. All questions should be directed to Hidalgo County.”

Winn, who is reportedly not cooperating with the police, was released from the Hidalgo County jail on Wednesday, January 16. Police are still investigating.

This is the latest in a string of teacher/student sex scandals over the last couple of years. In November, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers was arrested. Former nutrition teacher LaToya Parker was also arrested for a relationship with a student. Florida teacher Caroline Lawson was charged with sexual assault. 26-year-old Allyson Moran was also arrested for similar crimes. The 23-year-old high school teacher Katherine Ross Ridenhour was also arrested for an inappropriate relationship.

Furthermore, Hunter Day, 22, was also arrested after a sting operation. Megan Kotarski was also arrested on similar charges. Michelle Schiffer, a 23-year-old history teacher in Texas, was also charged and arrested for allegedly having sex with a teenage student. 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy was arrested in Maryland for her crimes in New Jersey. Samantha Fitzgerland, a 28-year-old, was most recently arrested and charged. Jordan Ondish was arrested for her inappropriate relationship with a 19-year-old, while 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick was arrested on similar charges.

Nicole Marie Andrews was arrested as well. 32-year-old Jessica Langford was arrested and charged with sexual assault-related crimes as well. A teacher from Oregon, Andrea Baber, was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.  Robin Dunlap, a teacher in Florida, was arrested for sending illicit photos to a 15-year-old boy in Texas. Teacher and tennis coach Jennifer Olajire-Aro was also charged. 42-year-old Heather Butts of California was arrested on a second-degree felony charge. Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student. Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016. 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship.

Valeria Costadoni was also arrested due to a relationship with her student. 40-year-old Kisha Nuckols was arrested for having sex with a student, too. Hilary Dattilo, a 30-year-old Ohio high school teacher, has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student. 30-year-old Missouri teacher Elizabeth Morgan was also arrested on similar charges. Trisha Anderson Rogers, a 47-year-old former student teacher at a North Carolina middle school was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to soliciting a young student for sex.

An investigation into hazing has revealed that pledges of Delta Tau Delta at Texas Chrisitan University were allegedly blindfolded and locked in a closet, told to perform acts with sex toys and burned with a lit match.

According to reports, pledges of DTD were forced to hold a match while reciting the Greek alphabet, do planks and push-ups, had their forearms burned by lighters, were blindfolded and held in a closet for more than an hour, and were told to “perform sex motions with sex dolls and toys.” The criminal complaint also mentions “rampant racism” in the fraternity.

The Delta Tau Delta chapter at TCU was ordered to close as a result of the investigation.

The allegations are detailed in TCU police documents obtained by NBC 5 under the Texas open records law. The university initially declined to say whether police had launched an investigation.

According to the documents, a student told a campus administrator about the alleged hazing on Nov. 1. The administrator notified campus police the same day. A criminal investigation began immediately. The day after receiving the complaint, police called 32 pledges to a meeting where they were interviewed by detectives. A few of them had visible injuries on their fingers and forearms and were photographed.

The alleged victims declined to pursue criminal charges and the investigation was closed a week later.

The Delta Tau Delta organization confirmed that the chapter had been closed, saying that the investigation “confirmed multiple violations of the fraternity’s risk management policy, including hazing, during the fall 2017 semester.”

TCU released a statement regarding the university’s code of conduct:

“Texas Christian University was disappointed to learn of hazing allegations against one of its campus fraternities. When TCU’s Office of Campus Life was notified of the charges, the university immediately placed the group under a cease-and-desist order and notified the fraternity’s national chapter, which subsequently elected to close the chapter at the university. TCU Police investigated; an inquiry into whether reported behaviors violated the student code of conduct will follow the police investigation, the results of which are independent and separate from any legal charges. TCU expects its students to behave in an ethical manner, abide by campus policies and adhere to state and federal law.”

This is the latest fraternity suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities.

January 17, 2018… One year has passed since Twitter announced that it would be shutting down Vine, the six-second video app that changed the way people viewed online video content. Let’s be real, Vine was easily one of the funniest things to happen to the internet in a long time. Those six-second videos would have you laughing for hours, not to mention the relatable ones that were eventually turned into viral memes and jokes.

Vine was one of a kind, and although it may not be available in the app store, the videos that were posted didn’t go anywhere. Vines are all over social media sites like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. You can even go on Youtube and find vine compilations, which are videos featuring a bunch of the best vines created (also a great way to procrastinate, just saying.)

Vine also brought fame to a lot of people. Shawn Mendes, a pop singer who is currently finishing up his world tour, started out singing clips of songs on Vine in 2013. Andrew Bachelor, better known as King Bach online, recently appeared on The Mindy Project and just executive produced a movie called Where’s The Money? 

So, why exactly did Vine shut down?

Although I’ll never understand the reason, it is said that Vine shut down because it couldn’t stay profitable. After being officially discontinued in January 2017, its successor, Vine Camera, totally flopped. The creators came up with HQ Trivia, a trivia app that includes a live game show. The app has recently racked up over one million players in a single game!

The NY Times wrote this in 2016 on Vine:

“Why did people love Vine? I can’t tell you; I’ll have to show you. Just know this: Vines turned nonsense into short bursts of hilarious art.”

Although we may not all have totally moved on after the devastation of the Vine shutdown, we can find peace in the fact that its legacy is safe and the vines aren’t going anywhere, even though the app did.

Ever since December, Dom Hofmann — the creator of Vine — has been teasing a follow up to Vine – called… Vine 2. Not much is currently know about the upcoming app, but we will keep you update as more news comes out in the coming months.

Netflix has been working for years trying to create and produce exciting new “Netflix Originals” that can rival mainstream Television and Movie studios. After such a fantastic year in 2017, Netflix is pushing hard in 2018 for the best content overall with new “Netflix Original” shows and movies to binge the year away on.

From new original films like Mute starring Alexander Skarsgård as a mute bartender who must search for his missing girlfriend in a sprawling dystopian city to the action comedy Game Over, Man! from the creators of the hit comedy Workaholics; Netflix will have an abundance of new original movies for subscribers to enjoy year round.

While Netflix is trying hard to create a significant presence in the “movie market,” they still have an iron grip on their slate of “Netflix Original” shows. Netflix announced early last year that they would be rebooting the 1960’s classic television show, Lost In Space, for an updated and modern take on the tale. The hype for Maniac has been alive for years, and the show is finally expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2018. The comedy series which takes place in the heads of two mental hospital patients. Written by Patrick Somerville and directed by Cary Fukunaga, this series is sure to deliver this year!

Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski, 21, has died in an apparent suicide.

According to the Pullman Police Department, Hilinski did not show up for practice and was later found in his apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Pullman Police Department said. A police spokesman said officers found Hilinski dead at his apartment north of the Washington State University campus at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, January 16.

Hilinski, the Cougars backup quarterback, was found by his teammates. Reportedly, a rifle and a suicide note was found next to his body. However, the motive for the apparent suicide is not known at this time.

Upland Coach Tim Salter said he was told that when Hilinski failed to show for an afternoon practice, teammates went to the apartment and found him dead.

“I’m having a hard time to understand it all,” he said. “I feel so bad for the family.”

Hilinski was a redshirt sophomore at Washington State. He made his first collegiate start in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28 against Michigan State, a 42-17 defeat.

He was part of a well-known Southern California family that produced three outstanding quarterbacks. Older brother Kelly starred at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, where Tyler played his first two seasons. Youngest brother Ryan is a junior at Orange Lutheran and considered one of the top prospects in California.

Tyler’s brother Ryan took to Twitter to ask for prayers for his family:

Police detectives and the county coroner’s office are conducting an investigation to confirm the suspected cause and manner of death.

Stormy Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, is a former adult film star who was allegedly paid $130,000 by Trump attorney Michael Cohen to keep Clifford silent about their alleged relationship in October 2016. However, Cohen, Clifford, and the White House have since denied the report.

According to CNN, a reporter from Fox News, Diana Falzone, filed a story about an alleged sexual relationship between Clifford and Trump in October 2016.

Reports indicate that Falzone had an on-the-record statement from Clifford’s manager, Gina Rodriguez, confirming that Clifford and Trump had engaged in a sexual relationship.

Falzone is a reporter for Fox News who frequently covers celebrity news and issues related to sexual harassment. She filed a lawsuit against the network in May 2017 alleging gender discrimination. Fox News has denied her allegations and the case is ongoing.

In a statement, Noah Kotch, who became editor-in-chief and vice president of Fox News digital in 2017, said, “Like many other outlets, we were working to report the story of Stephanie Clifford’s account in October 2016 about then-Presidential candidate Donald Trump and a possible payment by Trump lawyer Michael Cohen. In doing our due diligence, we were unable to verify all of the facts and publish a story.”

A Fox News spokesperson did not immediately respond to an inquiry about why the outlet did not use any of its previous reporting in its recent stories on the alleged relationship between Clifford and Trump.

Keith Davidson, an attorney for Daniels, told CNN he was “unaware his client or Rodriguez had spoken to media outlets about a possible story.”

In an article published by Slate,  Daniels reportedly told Slate writer Jacob Weisberg that she had “gone to Trump’s hotel room after meeting him at a celebrity golf tournament in Nevada in 2006” and began a sexual relationship, which continued for nearly a year.

For the four teams that have made it this far, there is one ultimate goal remaining: get to the Super Bowl. While franchises such as Minnesota and Philadelphia have to be ecstatic that they have made it to the Conference Championship Round with two quarterbacks that have been backups throughout the majority of their careers, there is still the looming pressure of both teams reaching and finally winning their first Super Bowl. In fact, the only team remaining that has both been and won several Super Bowl Championships are the impressively consistent and dominant New England Patriots. Despite being 40 years of age, quarterback Tom Brady has been the consummate playmaker for a franchise that is devoid of an elite receiving talent to make acrobatic catches in clutch situations. With that being said, the defensive-minded Jacksonville Jaguars will look to rattle Brady relentlessly with a physically imposing pass rush and a shutdown secondary that will do everything in their power to blanket all of the Patriots prominent receivers. Which teams have what it takes to make it the Big Dance? Let’s find out.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New England Patriots

Despite relinquishing 42 points on the road to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Divisional Round, the Jacksonville Jaguars were able to string together one big play after another en route to a shootout victory. Obviously, running back Leonard Fournette will be instrumental to the Jaguars success going forward as the physical rusher gashed the Steelers defensive front seven for three touchdowns and 109 rushing yards. Considering the Patriots allow 114.8 rushing yards per game (20th in the NFL), Jacksonville should be expected to relentlessly pound the football to wear down a Patriots defensive front that has been inconsistent this season. While the Jaguars are clearly hitting their stride offensively and have an elite defense to suppress most opposing offenses, they have not faced arguably the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady. Throwing for 337 yards and three touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round, Brady looked every bit like the perennial MVP candidate that can make even the most pedestrian receivers look like All-Stars. On top of that, the Patriots have a plethora of versatile running backs in Dion Lewis (six rushing touchdowns, three receiving touchdowns), James White (three receiving touchdowns) and Rex Burkhead (five rushing touchdowns, three receiving touchdowns) that can be utilized in conjunction or separately from each other to confuse opposing defenses. Although it may seem like a fool’s errand to bet against Brady and the Patriots, the Jaguars actually have the defensive makeup and the methodical offense needed to limit Brady in the passing game while keeping him off the field. While playing and winning in Foxboro is never an easy task, the Jaguars have what it takes to pull off another tremendous upset to get to their first-ever Super Bowl.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Although many fans and pundits (including myself) expected Matt Ryan and Drew Brees to meet up in a showdown of veteran and accomplished passers, the exact opposite occurred as two quarterbacks that were backups at the start of the season have led their respective franchises to the Conference Championship Round of the NFL Playoffs. In the Minnesota Vikings last-second miracle victory over the New Orleans Saints, quarterback Case Keenum made some impressive albeit ill-advised throws at times to lead his team to victory over a Saints secondary that had been exceptional throughout most of the season. Of course, the Vikings pride themselves on being an elite defensive team across the board as they lead the league in points allowed per game (15.8) and are dominant at stopping both the passing (192.4 passing yards allowed per game, 2nd in the NFL) and rushing (83.6 rushing yards allowed per game, 2nd in the NFL) attacks of opposing offenses. For the resilient and gritty Philadelphia Eagles, it has been all about what they have done in the trenches on defense as they have stifled almost all of the overzealous rushers that they have faced this season (79.2 rushing yards per game, 1st in the NFL). However, quarterback Nick Foles has performed well enough in his limited starts this season to keep the Eagles competitive (completed 23 of 30 passes for 246 yards in the win over Atlanta), which will be of paramount importance when he has to contend with one of most opportunistic defenses in the NFL on Sunday. Although the Eagles old-school, grind out style of football has been refreshing to watch this season, the Vikings simply have a much more productive offense that will give them a slight edge on the road over a fearless Eagles defense.

When Logan came out in March of 2017, my immediate reaction was that it was easily the second greatest superhero film of all time, behind only The Dark Knight. But then my second reaction was bittersweet, as I realized that as good as Hugh Jackman’s performance in the movie was, we’d never get to see something like it again, as Logan would be the last time that Jackman donned the claws.

But then Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox happened and rumors began swirling about the X-Men, Wolverine included, joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, while Disney was reportedly “relishing” the ability to recast Wolverine, I can promise you now that if Hugh Jackman wanted the role back, Disney would give it to him. Jackman has appeal across all four corners (young and old, men and women) and is already established as the character, making him an easy fit into the MCU.

While nothing official has been announced, Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the MCU said he’s had discussions with Jackman about returning to the role.

Hugh Jackman is thinking about the potential for an X-Men and Avengers crossover. That’s according to one current member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sebastian Stan was on an Ace Comic-Con panel with co-stars Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie. The topic of Fox’s merger with Disney and what it means for the X-Men and Marvel movies came up. Stan volunteered some interesting information.

“Recently I happened to be sitting next to Hugh Jackman,” Stan said. “I didn’t know what other awkward thing I could talk about but to be like, ‘Am I going to see you soon?’ I don’t know. But he said a couple of things to me and I’ll just leave it at that. Otherwise, I feel like I’m going to get into trouble with somebody. I asked him because I kept thinking he said whether or not that was, Logan, was supposed to be the last Wolverine thing or whatever and he said to me, well I think he publicly said out there, which was like he’s been thinking about it and it’s been on his mind. So, I don’t, he may be.”

While the Disney/Fox merger still has months of litigation to get through before it becomes a reality, that doesn’t mean that Marvel Studios hasn’t already begun planning what they will do when the deal does finally go through.

Although the running back position has decreased as a coveted commodity in the NFL, these underappreciated athletes have persevered and evolved into versatile offensive weapons that can both run and catch the football effectively. This year, there are a plethora of prospective running backs that are dominantly dynamic and could start for most NFL teams during week 1 of next season. Although the obvious prospects such as Saquon Barkley and Kerryon Johnson will inevitably garner the majority of the attention because of their prototypical size and impressive production, there is a multitude of sleepers that very well could be the next Alvin Kamara in terms of being the ideal hybrid that can do practically anything on offense.

10. Rashaad Penny, San Diego State Aztecs

Although Penny will inevitably fall down some draft boards because of his stiff and static running style, his physicality and off the charts production cannot be denied. Rushing for 7.8 yards per running attempt and 23 rushing touchdowns, Penny is clearly reliable and deadly when he can make his cuts effectively and get into the open field. Although he may not have the breakneck speed of a running back that is typically coveted, his underrated power and impressive size could allow him to be more productive than most would think as he transitions to the NFL.

9. Myles Gaskin, Washington Huskies

If there is any running back prospect that has shown potential to be the next Alvin Kamara it’s Myles Gaskin. Amassing 21 rushing touchdowns to go along with three receiving touchdowns, Gaskin was consistently a potent receiving threat coming out of the backfield. Although he may lack the girth and intimidating power of a typical running back, Gaskin has the exceptional athleticism and versatility necessary to be a prominent and capable running back at the next level.

8. Akrum Wadley, Iowa Hawkeyes

Although Wadley may not have the exceptional numbers of some top running back prospects (4.4 rushing yards per attempt, 10 rushing touchdowns), he is actually one of the faster running backs in this year’s draft class that was highly efficient as a trusted receiver in college (353 receiving yards, 12.6 yards per reception). On top of that, Wadley could be a reliable kickoff returner on special teams (nine returns, 271 yards), which would allow him to flash his impressive speed in the preseason for any team that acquires him in the draft.

7. Royce Freeman, Oregon Ducks

At 5’11” and 230 lbs, Royce Freeman has the build of an ideal power back that could consistently gash opposing defensive lines at the next level. Averaging six yards per rushing attempt and garnering 16 rushing touchdowns, Freeman has above average speed to accentuate his exceptional physicality that will allow him to become a breakaway rusher in the NFL. If Freeman can show more in the receiving game, he could quickly rise up draft boards and become a steal in the NFL Draft.

6. Ronald Jones II, USC Trojans

Fast, shifty and powerful, Ronald Jones II has all of the physical attributes needed to be a highly successful rusher at the next level. Rushing for 19 touchdowns on 5.9 rushing yards per attempt, Jones is a decisive runner that could immensely frustrate would-be tacklers at the next level because of his power and intriguing elusiveness. When you consider that Jones was dedicated to becoming a stronger back before his final season with the Trojans, he is a  prospect that has both the physical tools and work ethic to be highly productive in the NFL.

5. Nick Chubb, Georgia Bulldogs

Arguably the strongest running back in this years draft class, Nick Chubb is akin to a human bowling bowl that can roll right through opposing defenses with relative ease. Although he was rarely featured in the passing game throughout his career at Georgia, this had more to do with the plethora of available backs rather than being inept as a reliable pass-catcher out of the backfield. Physically, Chubb is well-built and very fast, which should allow him to be featured prominently in an NFL offense that loves to utilize a dominant rusher that can handle a massive amount of work.

4. Sony Michel, Georgia Bulldogs

Averaging 7.9 yards per rushing attempt and 10.7 yards per reception, Sony Michel was a threat at all times when he was on the field. As a pure rusher, Michel has the uncanny ability to make his initial tackler miss, allowing him to utilize his elite speed in the open field. Although it’s difficult to say whether Chubb or Michel is the better running back, Michel may have a slight edge over his former teammate as he was more productive as a receiver and was a strong blocker during his time at Georgia.

3. Derrius Guice, LSU Tigers

Although Derrius Guice did not put up the glowing numbers that many thought he would post this season, he was not exactly healthy at certain points throughout the regular season. However, as he got healthier, Guice regain some of his exceptional speed which, coupled with his impressive toughness, allowed him to be incredibly productive down the stretch for the Tigers. Combined with his great field vision that allows him to find the ideal lanes to break through, Guice could become a rookie sensation for any NFL team that is lucky enough to snag him during the draft.

2. Saquon Barkley, Penn State Nittany Lions

What’s not to like about this dynamically dominant running back? His top-notch quickness and breakaway speed when hitting the hole alone make him a consistent game changer. Combined with his elite abilities as a receiver (632 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns), Barkley cannot simply be stacked up against in the running game as he can lineup anywhere on the line of scrimmage and be featured as an effective slot receiver. In the end, any NFL team would be foolish not to snag up Barkley if he falls to them in the draft.

1. Kerryon Johnson, Auburn Tigers

Although some will argue that Barkley is the best running back in this year’s class because of his dynamic playmaking abilities, Kerryon Johnson proved that he could burst through opposing defenses in Georgia and Alabama that are loaded with NFL talent. A decisive downhill runner that has impressive cutting abilities to go along with his elite instincts, Johnson has all of the tools and then some to be an elite and potent running back in the NFL. Better still, Johnson played injured on several occasions and was still difficult to contain, suggesting that we have yet to see the best of what this gifted and hardworking athlete can actually do on the field when fully healthy.

University of Alabama student and Alpha Phi sorority sister Harley Barber is being investigated by the university after posted videos on social media where she repeatedly used the n-word and other racial profanities.

Barber, who said on the videos that she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority, posted the videos on Instagram. One of the videos in question was published on Monday, January 15, which was Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

In a video of her turning off a faucet, Barber says into the mirror “We do not waste water…because of the poor people in Syria. We don’t waste water. I love how I act like I love black people because I f*cking hate n***gers so that’s really interesting that I I f*cking hate n***gers but I just saved the f*cking n***gers by shutting that water off.”

In a second video, Barber appears to be in a car with her fellow soroity sisters, addressing the growing backlash against her due to her original sink video, saying:

“I’ve wanted to be an Alpha Phi since I was f*cking in high school and nobody f*cking understands how much I love Alpha Phi and now someone wants to snake my finsta because I said n**ga. You know what?”N***ger. N***ger. N***ger. I don’t care if it’s Martin Luther King Day. I’m in the south now f*cking so everybody can f*ck off. I’m from New Jersey so I can say n***ger as much as I want.”

Barber, who is from Marlton, New Jersey, is no longer a member of Alpha Phi, however, the Beta Mu Chapter of the sorority has yet commented on the videos. Linda Kahangi, the executive director of Alpha Phi International Fraternity, addressed Barber’s comments in a statement to AL.com.

She assured the public that the language and opinions expressed do not represent those of the sorority. Additionally, Kahangi revealed that Barber has been removed from the organization.

“Alpha Phi is a diverse, values-based organization and condemns the language and opinions in these videos. They are offensive and hateful to both our own members and to other members of the Greek and campus community,” the statement read.

“The Beta Mu chapter leadership and supporting alumnae moved quickly to address the offense, and Ms. Barber is no longer a member of Alpha Phi.”

“These remarks are ignorant and disturbing and in no way reflect the values of The University of Alabama. This unfortunate behavior has been reported to the Office of Student Conduct as it does not align with the community expectations of students at the Capstone,” Chris Bryant said.

Damien Harris, a running back for Alabama’s national championship football team tweeted, “This girl goes to the same university as me but they say, ‘racism is dead.’ Unfortunately, this thread says the opposite.”

Barber, who spoke to the New York Post,  said is in the process of returning home to New Jersey:

In a telephone interview with The Post, Barber, originally from Marlton, 20 miles east of Philadelphia, said she was in the process of returning to New Jersey on Wednesday after being expelled from the university.

“I did something really, really bad,” Barber told The Post. “I don’t know what to do and I feel horrible. I’m wrong and there’s just no excuse for what I did.”

Barber has been getting threatening phone calls in response to the videos, which “came out of nowhere,” she said.

Asked if she considered the advice from one of her friends who suggested that Barber not post the videos, Barber replied: “No, I’m an idiot. There’s no excuse. I did something really bad. I feel horrible. I feel so, so bad and I am so sorry.”

A spokesperson for the University of Alabama also called Barber’s videos “ignorant and disturbing” and that the school is investigating. Barber has been expelled from the Univesity of Alabama.

A new movement in California, dubbed “Cal-Exit” or the “New California Republic” movement, is calling for parts of the state to secede because its founders have found the state “ungovernable.”

What are the founder’s plans?

In a statement with CBS News, the movement’s founder, Robert Paul Preston, said the following:

“Well, it’s been ungovernable for a long time. High taxes, education, you name it, and we’re rated around 48th or 50th from a business climate and standpoint in California.”

According to USA Today, the founders want to base their new plan off of West Virginia; in other words, instead of leaving the United States altogether, it is hoped to create a new state altogether, dubbed “New California.”

The founders have even created their own“Declaration of Independence” for the state, which can be read in full online.

Turning to social media, the movement already has a Facebook page. Listing various events for the group, the page currently has over 700 likes. Releasing the following statement:

“New California is a new state in development by egregiously aggrieved Californians exercising our Constitutional right to form a new state separate from the tyranny and lawlessness of the State of California.”

The movement currently reflects an urban and rural divide

Presumably, the new states would incorporate much of the state’s rural counties, leaving most of the urban areas to make up the remaining state. Preston gave the following explanation:

“There’s something wrong when you have a rural county such as this one, and you go down to Orange County which is mostly urban, and it has the same set of problems, and it happens because of how the state is being governed and taxed.”

The San Diego Union-Tribune explained the divide more in-depth:

“The new state, as envisioned, would exclude parts of California along the coastline from Orange north to Napa counties; New California would include all other parts of California, including San Diego County, leaving the coastal stretch as California.”

Despite the divide, “New California” is expected to still be larger than some states in the country. As the founders explained:

“New California will be the 6th largest State behind New York (bigger than Illinois and Penn). It’s Estimated 25-27 seats in the US House of Representatives will go to New California. Old California will become the 2nd most populous state behind Texas and ahead of Florida, losing 25-27 seats in the US House of Representatives.”

Almost two years ago, back in 2016, Deadpool took the movie world by storm with a comic book film unlike any that audiences had seen before.

An R-rated superhero film unlike anything that had come before it, Deadpool breathed a much-needed new life into the comic book film industry with self-awareness, swearing, and R rating. In fact, the original Deadpool was so hilarious, that some people, myself included, consider it more of a comedy than an action film.

Following the release of Deadpool, the sequel was quickly put into production for a Summer 2018 release date. While fans have been treated to a mini-teaser, neither the name, the plot or the trailer have been released. However,  despite this, that hasn’t stopped 20th Century Fox from moving the film’s release date up two weeks from June 1 to May 18.

In what is sure to be a treat for Deadpool fans, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 Ryan Reynolds smash is being pushed up two weeks, from June 1 to May 18.

The move puts the action comedy against Sony’s Slender Man but, more importantly, has it opening one week before Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. It’s a strategic play as even second weeks have been exceptionally strong for Star Wars movies. (The Last Jedi earned a big $71.5 million in its second weekend in December.)

Insiders say one reason for the change is for the studio to avoid having an overlap with X-Men movies in certain overseas marketplaces, where Mutants and Deadpool 2 would have been in theaters at the same time.

While fans are surely glad to hear that Deadpool’s return will be coming two weeks earlier, I’m sure most of them (myself included) would have preferred news of a trailer release instead. NEED to see Cable.

The Villanova Wildcats will travel to Washington D.C. to take on the upstart Georgetown Hoyas. This game will feature two of the best basketball minds the country has to offer with Jay Wright and Patrick Ewing. Jay Wright has done a fantastic job over the years and has Villanova contending for what seems National Championships every year, Meanwhile Patrick Ewing in his first season as head coach for the Hoyas and his first season in general. Before he was a coach for Georgetown Patrick Ewing was a star player for the Georgetown and the New York Knicks, and he already has his team within two wins of last years total with 15 games still to play! So with the improvement, he’s brought to Georgetown this game should be very interesting!

Villanova (16-1) comes into this game as the #1 team in the country and looking to continue steamrolling opponents as they continue forward with National Title aspirations. Jay Wrights group is led by junior guards Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges. The two lead the Wildcats in points per game with 18.8 and 17.5 respectively. Brunson leads the team in assists, while Bridges ranks first on the team in steals and second in rebounds and blocks! Oh yeah, can’t forget to mention that both are shooting above .500 from the field so not only are they scoring but they’re efficient. With these two veteran guards leading the charge it will be tough to knock off Villanova at any point in the season

Georgetown (12-5) is looking to make a name for itself, and that can all start with a win at home against Villanova. Patrick Ewing will have his boys ready to rock against the Wildcats, and it will take a full team effort if they’re going to upset the #1 team in the country. Georgetown begins and ends with their junior Center Jessie Govan; he leads the team in points, rebounds, and blocks per game. The kid is a monster! He is a true rim protector and will block and alter most shots you try and get in the paint. Having a player like Govan lurking around by the rim allows Georgetown to be more aggressive on the defensive end of the floor. I think the only way to slow down the Wildcats is for the Hoyas to have a constant rotation at guard and just work on making Brunson and Bridges lives extremely difficult with high-pressure defense. It’s worth a shot so let’s see what Pat does tonight!

Harley Barber is a University of Alabama student and Alpha Phi sorority sister who is facing backlash after recording herself on camera saying the n-word. Barber is being investigated by University of Alabama officials after she posted explicitly racist videos on her social media where she repeatedly used the n-word.

Barber, a student in Alabama who is originally from Marlton, New Jersey, said in the videos that she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. She has since been kicked out of the sorority for her actions.

In the first video published online, Barber is seen of turning off a sink, saying for the camera:

“We do not waste water…because of the poor people in Syria. We don’t waste water. I love how I act like I love black people because I f*cking hate n-words so that’s really interesting that I I f*cking hate n-words but I just saved the f*cking n-words by shutting that water off.”

The second video, which was posted on Monday, January 15, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, shows Barber addressing the first video, however, instead of apologizing, doubling down by using further racial slurs:

“I’ve wanted to be an Alpha Phi since I was f*cking in high school and nobody f*cking understands how much I love Alpha Phi and now someone wants to snake my finsta because I said n-word. You know what?”N-word. N-word. N-word. I don’t care if it’s Martin Luther King Day. I’m in the south now f*cking so everybody can f*ck off. I’m from New Jersey so I can say n-word as much as I want.”

Linda Kahangi, executive director of Alpha Phi International Fraternity, said that the “language and opinions expressed do not represent those of the sorority” and that “Ms. Barber is no longer a member of Alpha Phi.”

University of Alabama running back Damien Harris said of Barber on Twitter: “This girl goes to the same university as me but they say, ‘racism is dead.’ Unfortunately, this thread says the opposite.”

Barber, who spoke to the New York Post over the phone, has been expelled from the Univesity of Alabama.

In a telephone interview with The Post, Barber, originally from Marlton, 20 miles east of Philadelphia, said she was in the process of returning to New Jersey on Wednesday after being expelled from the university.

“I did something really, really bad,” Barber told The Post. “I don’t know what to do and I feel horrible. I’m wrong and there’s just no excuse for what I did.”

Barber has been getting threatening phone calls in response to the videos, which “came out of nowhere,” she said.

Asked if she considered the advice from one of her friends who suggested that Barber not post the videos, Barber replied: “No, I’m an idiot. There’s no excuse. I did something really bad.”

“I feel horrible. I feel so, so bad and I am so sorry,” Barber said.
