The CW’s new hit show Riverdale will wrap up its rookie season tonight at 9:00 P.M. with episode No. 13, “Chapter Thirteen: The Sweet Hereafter.” Here’s everything you need to know about last week’s episode:

Jughead calls his mother, but she refuses to let him move in with her. F.P. confesses to everything, including Jason’s murder. Jughead subsequently learns that he is being suspended from school. Betty and Alice catch Hal trying to destroy evidence, and learn the family secret: the Coopers are, in fact, Blossoms by blood, and Jason and Polly’s relationship was thus technically incest. The Coopers take Polly back to their home. Mary, posing as F.P.’s lawyer, advises Jughead to visit his father, who tells him never to come see him again. With Joaquin’s help, the group tracks down one of F.P.’s associates, but find him dead of overdose. The police are summoned, and find a bag full of money with Hermione’s initials on it. With both Hal and Hermione cleared as suspects, Jughead and Betty investigate a lead from Kevin, and find Jason’s varsity jacket. Inside one of the pockets, they find a thumb drive and discover Clifford murdered Jason, before informing Cheryl. Nevertheless, Jughead learns that his father’s other charges will not be dropped. Veronica learns that her father has been formally released, and Mary returns to Chicago. When the police go to arrest Clifford, Cheryl directs them to his corpse hanging in the syrup distillery, next to several open casks filled with drugs.

The Colorado State Undie Run Was A Complete Success

There are only a few schools in the United States that have Undie Runs–unofficial “races” in which students participate wearing as little clothes as possible–but Colorado State definitely sits at the top as one of the most well-attended events. Is it the sexiest thing you could imagine? Definitely not. Literally any students can attend, it’s not just underwear models. But to be fair the Undie Run does look like a ton of fun.

Honestly we’re not sure how long the actual run itself is, but the highlight definitely seems to be at the end when everyone winds up in a huge field and just has a huge rager in their undies. Guys were jumping off of lamp posts, girls were waving the American flag, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

The Colorado State University administration originally banned the event, but allowed it to continue in good faith the day of. The students in turn responded without a single arrest, behaving themselves as much as humanly possible. So kudos to them.

Check out a recap of the day in the photos above, or in the video you see below.

I’m A Die Hard Mets Fan & This Tribute Derek Jeter Made To New York Has Me Rock Solid

Look man, even if you don’t root for the Yankees, if you’re from New York and you don’t respect Derek Jeter, I do not f*ck with you as a human being. Let Elon Musk and Richard Branson send your ass to Mars for all I care — any New Yorker worth a damn loves Derek Jeter.

Here’s what Derek Jeter did while being the face of New York City, simply put:

  • Won
  • Slept with models and actresses
  • Didn’t get in trouble

What more could you want from the face of your city? The bi-racial angel that is Derek Jeter did showed up in New York, delivered championships, crushed pussy, stayed loyal, and retired. Then, like, I don’t know, two days after he retired, he married and knocked up Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model Hannah Davis.

Long story short — Derek Jeter is what every sports star should be.

This Sunday, the Yankees will be retiring Jeter’s iconic #2, and in anticipation to the historic day, Jeter and his company The Player’s Tribune released a tear-jerking thank you video to the city of New York.

Another Spongebob Meme Has Arisen & It’s Glorious

I’ve been on record as saying the Spongegar memes from about a year ago are some of my favorite of all-time.

For those whose internet memory isn’t as good as mine, these were the Spongegar memes:

Just something about the aesthetic of an out-of-the-ordinary Spongebob being thrown into a real life situation was truly hilarious to me. In a way, and I think this was kind of the point — Spongegar was all of us.

And now, almost exactly a year later, another Spongebob-related meme has sprung up from the bedrock of Twitter: the Mocking Spongebob meme.

Like last year’s en vogue Spongebob meme, I have absolutely no idea where it started, but I was able to find the episode it came from:

Other than that, your guess is as good as mine as to where, how, or why this meme came to be. Either way, however, it came into existence is just fine with me because, yet again, it’s hilarious.

Somebody Schedule A Funeral For ESPN Because This NHL Reporter Just Murdered Them

As we all know by now, ESPN laid off a massive amount of people a couple of weeks ago, many of which were NHL reporters. It was certainly a bizarre move by the mothership, considering the NHL is currently in the middle of the Stanley Cup playoffs, which is when, ya know, most fans actually give a shit about hockey.

Despite this, ESPN said f*ck hockey anyway, and laid off a bunch of the reporters that had to cover the sport. Now, it seems like they may be regretting their decision, as they’re currently asking other NHL reporters for their content.

A couple of days ago, after the Nashville Predators defeated the St. Louis Blues to reach their first ever Western Conference Finals, Predators defensive all-star P.K. Subban took a reporter’s microphone to interview teammate Roman Josi. It was a cute little interaction between a couple of teammates enjoying the victory. Nice little bonding moment captured by the Preds beat writer:

ESPN, being the gluttonous empire that they are, naturally wanted in on the action. However, to the surprise of no one, the writer who originally created the content was NOT having it when ESPN asked him for it. Those journalist gotta stick together, you know?

Guy Plays Pokémon GO In Church, So He Gets Locked Up For Offending Religious Feelings

On the search for some Pokémon? There are people who walk around everywhere playing that game, so it isn’t too surprising that someone walked into a house of worship on the hunt for those anime critters. You’d think it’d be safe to play Pokémon GO in church. I mean, what’s the worst that can happen? Apparently, it’s a real big deal if that church is in Mother Russia and you happen to film yourself doing it.

Back in August 2016, a YouTuber by the name of Ruslan Sokolovsky posted a video of himself Pokémon GO. Sounds innocent enough, right? But he was trying to catch ’em all in the Church of All Saints in Yekaterinburg. So, trigger warnings went off and he was apprehended by authorities in October.

“How can one offend by entering a church with a smartphone,” he asked. “I decided to just catch some Pokémon in church because, why not? I believe it’s both safe and not prohibited by law. Let’s go.”

I guess Sokolovsky got more than he bargained for when he posted that video. His clip went viral and received over 2 million views.

Earlier today, Sokolovsky was convicted for his Pokémon-related transgressions. The crimes that were successfully brought up on this YouTuber, include inciting animosity, offending religious feelings and illegally purchasing a pen containing a small hidden camera, which would have to be licensed by the country’s security service.

Judge Yekaterina Shoponyak condemned this YouTuber’s actions and said the videos showed “disrespect for society.” The judge also believes that Sokolovsky “intended to offend religious sentiments.”

The court in Yekaterinburg issued a three-and-a-half year suspended sentence for Sokolovsky’s transgressions. His supports have created the #FreeSokolovsky hashtag on social media, which got the attention of news media. Sokolvsky says, “Without the support from reporters, I would possibly have been given a real prison sentence.”

Yale Lary Cause of Death: How Did Lions Great Die?

Yale Lary Detroit Lions

Yale Lary – who played defensive back, punter and return man for the Detroit Lions – has died at the age of 86. He was considered one of the best all around football plays of the 1950s.

Yale Lary Cause of Death

Lary died of natural causes.

In his heyday, Lary was a nine-time Pro Bowler and a key piece of the Lions’ last three championship teams (1952, 1953 and 1957).

Lary was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1930. He attended Texas A&M and came to national prominence as one of the country’s best punters.

“Lary, four-sport letterman at North Side, Fort Worth, kicked the hides off numerous pigskins while he was in junior high. He practiced kicking at school and then took a friend home to chase punts for him,” a 1950 newspaper account said.

The Lions Hall of Famer starred as a two-sport athlete (baseball and football) in college. One of his most notable college accomplishments was leading A&M to a 22-21 victory over Texas in his senior year (1951), which was the first time in 12 years the Aggies had beaten their more acclaimed in-state rival. That same year, Lary also led the baseball team to the College World Series and set a Southwest Conference record for doubles.

In 1952, Lary was drafted by the Lions and notched four interceptions as a rookie while also punting and returning kicks. The Lions won the NFL Championship game that year. In his second season, the Lions again won the big prize while he picked off five passes and continued to star on special teams.

Lary left the Lions in 1954 to serve two years in the Army. He was chosen as a First-Team All-Pro when he returned in 1956 and for the next three seasons. He described the 1950s Lions team as a close family:

“What I remember best of those times were not the games we played — the only one that sticks in my mind was the ’53 championship game when the pass to Jim Doran beat Cleveland in the last few minutes — but the closeness of everybody on the team,” Lary said in 1979. “I was talking to Torgy [former lineman Laverne Torgeson] just last night and we agreed there never was a team like the Lions of the 1950s. It was just one big happy family — our family against the rest of the football world.”

The Internet Was Not Kind To The Houston Rockets After Last Night’s Debacle

$

At 24 years old, I’ve been consistently watching sports for about half of my life.

I’ve seen Italy win the World Cup and the Mets lose in the World Series (twice). I’ve seen Jason Kidd and the Nets get dominated by Shaq, Kobe, and the Lakers, and I’ve seen Mark Sanchez fumble the ball by running into his teammate’s asshole. I’ve seen upsets, comebacks, let-downs, blowouts — when it comes to sports, I’ve seen it all.

At least I thought I had seen it all… until last night. That Houston Rockets – San Antonio Spurs game was unlike any athletic competition I’ve ever seen.

I’ve been watching sports for half my life, and I have never, ever, EVER seen a team, at home, in an elimination game, with an MVP candidate, get absolutely throttled like that. To put it in perspective, picture it like this — remember those old Colts vs. Patriots classics? Last night’s game was the equivalent of the Indianapolis Colts traveling up to New England and beating the Patriots in the AFC Championship … without Peyton Manning. Could you even picture that? Of course not! Because it’s virtually impossible.

But, if the last 20 years have taught us anything, if anyone could pull off a win like that, it’s the Spurs. And they did.

Now, while most people quick to throw praise on the Spurs, everyone was quick to start (deservedly) shitting on James Harden.

St. Johns County Police Department

Virginia Houston Hinckley, a 28-year-old teacher at St. Augustine High School in Florida, has been charged with having sex with a 16-year-old student in her English class. She has been on paid leave since 2015 when she was reportedly pregnant with her first child.

What Happened?

The two reportedly became “flirty” with one another days after the start of a new term. The student and his friends talked about how pretty she was and how he “tickled” her.

Hinckley allegedly gave him her phone number which led to them texting each other and exchanging nude selfies which included pictures of her breasts and “other body parts,” he said. The student told investigators that they began kissing and touching when he would go to her classroom after school. Hinckley then suggested the two go to a secluded park where they kissed in her car and had oral and unprotected sex on the back seat, he said.

She later texted him: “You better keep your mouth shut about this.”

DNA tests were conducted on the car after she claimed that she had never had sex with him at Treaty Park.

Hinckley said she had a “bubbly” personality which students sometimes “misconstrued” as flirtatious. Her arrest papers from November 2015 said she was “engaging in sexual relations” with a total of three schoolboys.

Virginia Houston Hinckley

Hinckley was an English teacher at St. Augustine High School who has been on paid leave since 2015. She taught ninth-grade English and ninth- and tenth-grade intensive reading. She has been charged with only one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and pleaded no contest when she appeared in court Monday May 8. She will be sentenced at the end of the month.

Tom Brady Announced As Madden 18 Cover Athlete & Here’s Hoping The Madden Curse Is Alive & Well

Hey, EA Sports, how’s Tom Brady’s D taste?

I mean, Jesus, have you ever seen such a blatant example of slurpage? I wonder if Brady owns stock in EA Sports. Maybe he’s buddies with John Madden.

Look, there’s no denying Brady is great — probably the greatest of all time — but let’s save the homages and tributes until he actually retires, huh? The dude says he’s got four-five years left, let’s see what happens.

I’ll tell you what I hope happens — I hope the Madden Curse is alive and well and one of those subterranean nukes that the Russians have spread all over the Earth explodes inside of Tom Brady’s knee.

Actually, both knees.

New Zealand Decides They’ve Had Enough Of Rats, Plans To Kill Every Single Rat In The Country

$

Here’s something I never thought I’d say: we should really start following New Zealand’s lead.

You know, I’ve read studies (or articles or Tweets, I don’t really know) that say there are more rats in New York City than there are people, which is horrifying, considering there are about 10 million people in New York.

But they live underground and mostly stay out of the way, so we largely ignore it. Well, we don’t ignore it, but we certainly haven’t launched anyway widespread plans to genocide the motherf*ckers either.

Well, apparently New Zealand has. In fact, their plan to eliminate all of the country’s rats is so ambitious, it’s being compared to putting a man on the moon (which is like the most New Zealand thing I’ve ever heard).

Via Daily Mail:

Scientists are talking about the mission in military terms: choking off pests on peninsulas and then advancing the front lines from there; developing new traps and genetic weapons; winning the hearts and minds of children and farmers alike. Momentum began growing five years ago when the nation’s leading scientist, Sir Paul Callaghan, delivered an impassioned speech.

When it comes to heritage, he said, England has its Stonehenge, China its Great Wall, France its Lascaux cave paintings. What makes New Zealand unique, he asked? Its birds. Callaghan was suffering from advanced cancer and could barely stand.

But for over an hour he outlined his predator-free vision, saying how growing up he was inspired by efforts to reach the moon and how saving the birds could become New Zealand’s own Apollo program. He died a month later, but the vision grew.

Nine months ago, it became official government policy. Then-Prime Minister John Key announced a goal to wipe out the nuisance animals by 2050, calling it the ‘most ambitious conservation project attempted anywhere in the world.’

The goal has been embraced by many, although even its strongest supporters say it will require scientific breakthroughs. Some critics argue the plan should also have targeted feral cats or worry mice numbers might explode if rats disappear. Others say the effort is underfunded and overly ambitious.

So there you have it: New Zealand has decreed it has had ENOUGH with the rats and they are going to slaughter them all.

You go New Zealand.

Howard Stern Net Worth 2017: How Much Is Stern Worth Right Now

For years, Howard Stern got off by shocking mainstream America while still entertaining the masses over the radio airwaves. When he first came up, he represented a modernized counter culture of rebellion and freedom of speech. While Stern has gradually toned himself down and become a more traditional celebrity in recent years, he’s still one of the biggest names in media.

From his long-running radio show “The Howard Stern Show” to his former gig as a co-host and judge on America’s Got Talent, we got to thinking about Stern’s bank account. Just how much exactly has the King of Radio made in his time in the limelight?

Howard Stern’s Net Worth as of 2017: $600 Million

Wow, more than half a billion dollars just from radio? How is that even possible? Let’s dive in.

1975 – 1984

After graduating college in 1975, Stern took his first professional job at WNTN in Newton, Massachusetts. Over the next nine years, Stern who bop around the country working at various stations with stops in Chicago, Detroit and more. In his first few years, he never earned more than an annual salary of $12,000. However, in 1982, Stern signed a five-year, $1 million contract with NBC. While this could be considered his first big break, true stardom was still just on the horizon.

1985 – 2005

In 1985, Stern signed a five-year deal with the Infinity Broadcasting company and began hosting “The Howard Stern Show” on WXRK in New York City. It was here that Stern would become the irreverent, boundary pushing media mogul we know today. His adult-skewing content and controversial antics attracted immediate attention across the country.

During Stern’s time at WXRK, the station was fined by the FCC multiple times for profanity. Eventually, the fines totaled more than $2.5 million, though WXRK was happy to pay them as Stern was easily the most popular radio host in all of North America. His audience exceeded 20 million listeners at its peak.

But that was just the beginning of Stern’s success. In 1993, he signed a multi-million dollar publishing deal with Simon & Schuster to write the semi-autobiographical Private Parts, which was later turned into a feature length film. The book sold more than a million copies in its first two weeks.

In 1995, Stern was offered a $3 million book deal which produced Miss America, a top New York Times Bestseller for 16 weeks. The Private Parts movie was released a year later and grossed more than $41 million at the box office.

In the late 1990s, Stern’s viewership began to wane though he still remained the most popular host in all of radio. By 2004, Stern became increasingly frustrated with the stringent restrictions of the FCC. This would eventually lead to his departure from terrestrial radio.

2006 – Present

Stern signed with Sirius radio in 2006 and was given a massive stock bonus in addition to his annual salary. His overall take home for this first deal was estimated to be around $302 million. In 2010, he signed another five-year deal worth $400 million that guaranteed him $80 million a year on top of his stock options and will keep the show on the air until 2020 at least.

In 2012, Stern replaced Piers Morgan as a co-host/judge on America’s Got Talent and remained on the massively popular show until September 2015.

In 2016, Stern reportedly earned $85 million in base salary alone.

Now that we know that cheating scumbag Tom Brady landed the cover of Madden NFL 18, let’s take a look at the game’s first official teaser trailer. This is the 28th chapter in the beloved video game franchise, which makes my ass feel extremely old. I still remember getting into heated battles with my pops in Madden NFL ’94 on Sega Genesis back in the day.

It’s safe to say that the graphics have gotten just a tad better since then. But don’t take my word for it, check out the first trailer for Madden NFL 18 in the video below.

If that doesn’t get you pumped up for football season, you might be a corpse. Madden NFL 18 will be released on August 25, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but if you’re a true Madden fanatic, you can get your fix before then.

While the regular game will cost you $59.99, you can shell out an extra 20 bucks to get the G.O.A.T. Edition. Not only does this version come with additional features, but you’ll also get the game three days earlier if you pre-order the G.O.A.T. Edition.

If you’re going to kill yourself, at least wait until the end of the day you know? Everyone’s miserable in the morning, but your day can only go up from there. If you get home from work or school or whatever and you’re still feeling suicidal, that’s one thing. But the AM offing of one’s self? A little rash if you ask me. I’ve had hangovers bad enough that have made me want to kill myself, but you need to endure. Then, two, three hours later, you’re back to normal.

More life.

United Airlines Becoming The ‘NOPE’ Of The Skies After Scorpion Emerges From Sleeping Man’s Shirt

Okay, people, time for a little chat. I think we all need to get together and agree to boycott United Airlines. Forever. Forget about their totalitarian views on wardrobe or their violent treatment of passengers or their general lack of respect for human decency. On Thursday, a flight set to take off from Houston was delayed after a goddamn scorpion crawled out of a sleeping passenger’s shirt.

Insult my appearance, kick me off of flights due to your own mistakes, cost me money, I don’t care. But the second a friggin’ predatory arachnid is found on the plane, I am out. For good.

The flight was preparing to depart George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on its way to Quito, Ecuador when the little demon emerged from its hibernation. The plane was emptied so that crew members could find and hopefully kill the ever loving s— out of that thing.

Houston’s KHOU spoke to a passenger on the flight who “said a man in the back of the plane was asleep when the scorpion crawled out of his sleeve. Another man sitting next to him saw the scorpion before it went under the man’s seat.”

I just threw up a little on my keyboard and now all of my co-workers are asking me if I’m okay. Clearly, I’m not okay.

According to a statement from United, paramedics checked out the passenger who was hiding the critter and found no injuries. The statement added that, “as a precaution, a new aircraft was arranged.”

Believe it or not – and for the record, I am having a very hard time believing it – this isn’t even the first scorpion-related incident on a United flight. Just last month, a Canadian man was stung by a stowaway scorpion after it fell into his hair from an overhead bin.

What. The. Actual. F—.

LISTEN: Billy McFarland Tells Fyre Media Employees That They Won’t Be Getting Paid

The Fyre Festival saga continues, as Fyre Media founder Billy McFarland told his employees that they won’t be receiving paychecks for two weeks of work. Vice acquired audio of a recent conference call where McFarland drops this bombshell on his unsuspecting employees, and the roughly nine minute conversation is about as cringeworthy as it gets.

Basically, McFarland tells them that they won’t be getting paid, but he’s also not firing them. This means that if his employees choose to leave Fyre Media, they won’t be eligible for unemployment benefits. So, they can either keep working at Fyre Media for free, hoping that the tide will turn and they will start getting paid again. Or, they can leave that trainwreck of a company with no financial parachute. Obviously, both of these options royally suck.

Listen to the conference call below, which unfortunately, doesn’t feature much Ja Rule due to a bad phone connection.

What a goddamn crook. McFarland is as two-faced as they come, and after listening to that weasel dick over his employees, it now makes perfect sense that the Fyre Festival was the concert disaster of the century. F*ck that guy.

Donna Hughes Woodland Elementary School

Greenville County Schools

Donna Hughes, a former special education teacher at Woodland Elementary School in Greer, South Carolina, has been accused of locking on her autistic kindergarten students in a supply closet without any light for 30 minutes as punishment.

What Happened?

Hughes has been charged with unlawful neglect, cruelty to children and assault and batter for locking a five-year-old autistic student in a supply closet for 30 minutes.

Hughes is also said to have dragged the student across the room on his knees, mildly injuring him. She was suspended for the incident, which took place in March 2014, and resigned in April.

Donna Hughes Woodland Elementary School

Greer Police Department

According to WSPA.com, the South Carolina Department of Education suspended her teaching license, noting that she had been reprimanded for her punishment practices in both 2012 and 2013.

The child’s parents filed a report against Hughes in 2014, but she was not arrested by Greer Police until December 2016. The reason for the lapse in time is unknown, though Greer Police did launch an investigation into her teaching practices in March 2014, Fox Carolina reports.

The student’s parents are now suing the Greenville County School District, accusing them of being “aware of prior instances concerning improper punishment techniques and instructional practices” involving Hughes. They maintain that their child was put in “unreasonable risk of harm.”

The lawsuit was filed on May 2 and alleges that Hughes physically and emotionally abused their five-year-old child that resulted in medical expenses.

“Having gone through what he went through, it’s hard for him to go back to school,” Joshua Kendrick, the family’s lawyer, told WSPA.

The family are seeking actual and punitive damages with the amount to be determined by a jury.

Greenville County School District

Greenville County School District is a public school district in Greenville County, South Carolina. It is the largest school district in the state of South Carolina and the 44th largest in the US.

The district serves around 76,000 students while employing around 5,000 teachers and a total staff of 9,800. The district operates on an annual budget of $536.7 million.

Michael Jackson Cause Of Death: How Did The Former NFL Wide Receiver Die?

Michael Jackson passed away today at 48-years-old. The talented wide receiver spent eight seasons in the NFL from 1991-1998.

Michael Jackson Cause Of Death

Early Friday morning, Jackson was killed in a motorcycle accident in his Louisiana hometown. Here’s TMZ Sports with the tragic details on the crash.

Louisiana State Police confirm Jackson was in an accident in Tangipahoa, LA while riding his motorcycle in the early morning. He was 48.

Officials say Jackson was driving a ’13 Kawasaki on US 51 around 1 AM at a “high rate of speed” when a 20-year-old woman backed out of a parking spot and into both lanes of the highway.

The motorcycle crashed into the driver’s side door of the car — and the impact was so violent, the bike smashed through the door and killed the driver of the car.

Officials are investigating the crash.

Jackson played his college ball at the University of Southern Mississippi, and he was teammates with Brett Favre from 1989-1990. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round of the 1991 NFL Draft, and he would spend the first five years of his career with Cleveland. Jackson had several strong seasons with the Browns, posting at least 700 yards and seven touchdowns three times.

Jackson became a member of the Baltimore Ravens after the Browns moved from Cleveland to Baltimore for the 1996 NFL season. He would play in Baltimore for three years, but his first season was by far his most productive. Jackson had the best season of his career in 1996, catching 76 passes for 1,201 yards and 14 touchdowns. His 14 TD receptions were tied for the most in the NFL with San Diego WR Tony Martin.

Injuries would cause Jackson to retire from the NFL at just 29-years-old, but he got into politics after his playing days were over. From 2009-2013, Jackson served as the mayor of Tangipahoa, Louisiana.

Britain’s National Health Service has been hit with a massive cyberattack on Friday which has prevented doctors from gaining access to patient files and caused emergency rooms to divert patients.

What Happened?

Hackers proved their ability to wreak havoc on vital public services Friday when they launched a cyber attack against the U.K.’s National Health Service.

Tom Donnelly, an N.H.S. Digital spokesman, said in a phone interview that 16 organizations including “hospitals and other kinds of clinician services” have been subjected to the cyberattack.

“It is still ongoing,” he said. “We were made aware of it this afternoon.”

The digital arm of the service said in a statement that the attack involved a “variant of ransomware known as Wanna Decryptor.” Ransomeware essentially holds a computer hostage with the threat of destroying data or continually blocking access unless the victim pays a ransom.

Images began circulating on social media showing computer screens with messages instructing users to pay a $300 ransom in Bitcoin before they would relinquish control of the computers.

N.H.S. Digital added, “At this stage we do not have any evidence that patient data has been accessed.”

It is being reported that the N.H.S. was not actually the target of the attack. There were reports on Friday of cyberattacks against companies in Spain and Portugal, but those accounts could not be immediately confirmed.

The National Cyber Security Center, an arm of the GCHQ, the British electronic surveillance agency, said it was investigating the incident. “We are aware of a cyber incident, and we are working with N.H.S. Digital and the National Crime Agency to investigate,” it said in a statement.

As of 3:30 P.M. local time in Britain, 16 organizations within N.H.S. England had reported issues, according to the statement. As of now, it does not appear as if the N.H.S. systems in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland have been impacted.

The BBC reported that hospitals in the cities of London and Nottingham, the town of Blackburn and the counties of Cumbria and Hertfordshire had been affected.

The National Health Service said it was “working closely with the National Cyber Security Centre, the Department of Health and N.H.S. England to support affected organisations and to recommend appropriate mitigations.”
