Forbes has announced the 2019 highest-paid women in music. Some of the usual suspects top the list, while we get some blasts from the past near the bottom of the top ten. As you might expect, none other than Taylor Swift tops the list with a whopping $181 million, $100 million more than the second-place woman.
“Taylor and her team understand the subtle yet important art of creating substantial moments,” Taylor Swift superfan Kim Kaupe said. “These moments are not only perfectly captured by fans and media outlets, but they are the perfect bite-sized, PR-ready morsel that the news cycle loves.”
In second place was another usual suspect, Beyonce, who raked in a cool $81 million.
While Swift earned a majority of her money through touring and her latest album, Beyonce’s revenue came from her tour with husband Jay-z and her Netflix special Homecoming.
Forbes notes: “Our list of the world’s highest-paid women in music measures pretax income from June 2018 to June 2019. Fees for agents, managers and lawyers are not deducted. The numbers are compiled with data from Nielsen Music and Pollstar, as well as interviews with handlers, industry experts and many of the stars themselves.”
Rounding out the top five was Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Pink. Rihanna’s numbers earned a boost thanks to her Fenty Beauty line.
All ten of the woman who qualified for the list earned at least $35 million.
