After a highly-successful run, the HBO hit series Game of Thrones is coming to an end. The series finale is just days away and Pilou Asbaek, who plays Euron Greyjoy, sat down to discuss the ending of the series. The Danish actor admitted that he has not watched the show in years, but he does still hope that the show is able to end with a bang.
Asbaek is aware that many fans are upset with how the final season of the show has played out to date, so he is rooting for a positive ending that will leave fans of one of the most popular series in television history with a good taste in their mouth.
“I’m rooting for [showrunners] Dan and David,” Asbaek told Insider. “For them to be happy with what they have created…because right now people are very angry.”
He also discussed how Euron Greyjoy was able to take out one dragon while another was able to wipe out an entire village.
“Because they needed it for the storyline? I don’t know. I think we had to take out one dragon so we level the fight just a little bit, and they caught her off guard. It was a sneak attack,” he told Vulture. “But now she’s prepared and now she’s pissed, and if there’s one thing you don’t want, it’s the dragon mom pissed.”
For the sake of Asbaek, and the hardcore fans of the series, we too hope that the showrunners have their act together for the series finale which is set to run for one hour and 20 minutes.
The final season of Game of Thrones will come to its end next Sunday, May 19, as the battle for the Iron Throne reaches its finale. Get your popcorn ready.
