Actress Peggy Lipton has passed away at age 72, according to the Los Angeles Times. Lipton, who was a star of “The Mod Squad” and “Twin Peaks,” was battling with cancer. She was married to the musician and producer Quincy Jones, and was the mother of the couple’s two daughters Rashida Jones and Kidada Jones.
“She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side,” Lipton’s daughters said in a statement. “We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.
The statement continued: “We can’t put all of our feelings into words right now, but we will say: Peggy was and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us.”

Peggy Lipton Cause of Death: Colon Cancer
On Saturday, May 11, it was reported that Lipton had passed away following a battle with cancer. Back in 2004, Lipton announced that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer and was being treated. Her family confirmed the news in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.
Lipton was born Margaret Ann “Peggy” Lipton on August 30 in New York City. She was the daughter of Rita Benson, an artist, and Harold Lipton who was a lawyer. Benson was born in Dublin, Ireland with both of her parents immigrating from Eastern Europe.
