Michelina Aichele, a 30-year-old former teacher at Montgomery High School in New Jersey who arrested in October 2018 for allegedly sending nude pictures to a teenage student, has pleaded guilty.
According to court reports, Aichele — a former English teacher from Hillsdale, New Jersey — pleaded guilty to third-degree endangering the welfare of a child in the Superior Court of Somerset County in Somerville, New Jersey, on Wednesday, April 10.
Back in October 2018, Aichele was arrested by local authorities after police and Montgomery High School officials uncovered explicit images that she sent to a teenage Montgomery High School student between February and April 2018.
As part of her guilty plea, Aichele admitted to sending the unidentified male teen him four naked pictures on Snapchat when the student was a junior at her school.
Had she not pleaded guilty, Aichele faced up to five years in prison for her crimes. Now, as a result of her plea deal, Aichele lost her teaching certificate, will be on parole for life and has to register as a sex offender.
Somerset County prosecutors recommended to the presiding judge that Aichele should serve one year in prison. Her sentencing hearing has been scheduled for the beginning of July.
Additionally, Aichele could serve up to 364 days in jail if she violates any of the terms of her plea agreement.
Aichele is just one of many teachers in recent years to be arrested and charged for an inappropriate or sexual relationship with an underage student.
