UFC star Paige VanZant last fought on January 19, 2019, against Rachael Ostovich during the UFC’s ESPN debut in Brooklyn, New York. VanZant was returning from a lengthy lay-off after a broken arm and complications from surgery.
Unfortunately for VanZant, she suffered yet another broken arm during the win and was once again sidelined.
This time, however, it doesn’t appear that VanZant will be sidelined for as long.
According to “12 Gauge,” she is aiming to fight again this summer.
“You can’t stop me!! While my arm is healing for the third time, I’m going to take advantage of this,” she wrote in a post on Instagram.
“Set my goals high! I will run a marathon. I will fight this summer. And I will be in the best shape of my life for my MMA career. Stupid arm injury will not slow me down. You can keep trying, but you can not get rid of PVZ!”
VanZant’s win over Ostovich snapped a two-fight losing skid and gave her a victory for the first time since August 2016. Her professional record now stands at 8-4 with two wins by KO and three wins by submission.
Outside of the cage, VanZant has also shown some strong crossover appeal by landing in the 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. VanZant now becomes the second UFC fighter to be featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, with former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey being the first.
