Larry Baer Net Worth 2019: Approximately $1 Billion
Larry Baer, the CEO and President of the San Fransisco Giants who has been an owner since 1992 and CEO since 2012, has an estimated net worth of approximately $1 billion, most of which comes through his ownership stake in the Giants.
While some unconfirmed reports indicate that Baer has a net worth north of $6 billion, given that most of his wealth comes from his ownership in the Giants, that figure seems far too high, as the Giants are only worth approximately $2.9 billion, according to Forbes.
The Giants are owned by a 29-member ownership group, San Francisco Baseball Associated LP. Baer has been an owner since 1992 when he joined the ownership group that bought the team in an effort to keep them from leaving San Francisco. Baer is listed as the first principal owner of the Giants on the official MLB website.
Rich Lieberman, a sports writer and radio host in San Fransisco, once reported that Baer earns a $5 million per year salary as the CEO of the San Fransisco Giants. As President and CEO of the Giants, Baer has earned $35 million dollars in salary since 2012.
Larry Baer Domestic Abuse Incident
On Friday, March 1, 2019, TMZ Sports published a video of Baer getting into a public physical altercation with his wife.
On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, Baer was suspended without pay by the Giants for abusing his wife in public. However, Baer will resume his role as CEO and president of the team upon his return from suspension.
Following his suspension, Baer released a public apology saying he is sorry for the pain he brought on his family.
“I am truly sorry for the pain that I have brought to my wife, children and to the organization. It is not reflective of the kind of a person that I aspire to be, but it happened and I will do whatever it takes to make sure that I never behave in such an inappropriate manner again,” Baer’s statement read.
