The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to England this weekend for UFC Fight Night 130: Thompson vs. Till, with Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson facing off against Darren Till in Liverpool. On Saturday morning, ahead of Sunday’s card, all fighters competing in the event had to hit the scales for official fighter weigh-ins.
There was chaos aplenty.
After the two-hour window closed for fighters to step onto the scale, it was reported that Till was receiving an extra hour to weigh-in due to a “family emergency.” When he finally did take the scale, Till was overweight by 3.5 pounds, putting the Liverpool native’s main event in his hometown in jeopardy.
Another local fighter, Molly McCann, also came in above her contracted weight.
With the massive miss for Till, the UFC is in discussions with Thompson to see whether he will still take the bout. We will update this post as soon as that information is available.
