The 2018 Preakness Stakes takes place Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. It will mark the 143rd running of “The Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown” as the Bob Baffert-trained Justify attempts to keep its perfect record intact. Justify is the heavy favorite for the 2018 Preakness, also known as “The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans,” despite suffering a bruised heel during his win in the Kentucky Derby. The top competition for Justify is Good Magic, ridden by Jose Ortiz and trained by Chad Brown.
Other horses competing in the Preakness are Tampa Bay Derby winner Quip, Bravazo and Lone Sailor, who competed in the Kentucky Derby, Federico Tesio Stakes winner Diamond King, Blue Grass Stakes fourth-place finisher Sporting Chance, and Arkansas Derby fifth-place finisher Tenfold.
