Cecily Strong is one of the most versatile and entertaining cast members on Saturday Night Live, first joining the sketch comedy show in 2012. Strong initially started her SNL career as a co-anchor on Weekend Update with Seth Meyers and then Colin Jost before being replaced by Michael Che in 2014. Strong left Weekend Update to focus on her own sketches as part of the regular cast.
Outside of SNL, Strong ha also made cameo appearances in television shows in commercials, while having the honor of being the featured entertainer at the 2015 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
Before joining SNL, Strong, who grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, would make the rounds at local comedy clubs in the area. She studied at the Chicago Academy for the Arts, California Institute of the Arts, and Second City Conservatory.
Strong grew up as a huge fan of Saturday Night Live, so the opportunity to join the show was a dream come true.
