The Aztecs will clash with the Stanford Cardinal inside the Qualcomm Stadium in their hometown of San Diego, California. Both teams have two of the top running backs in the nation. Last Saturday, San Diego State junior Rashaad Penny helped his team to a 30-20 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils, running a total of 353 all-purpose yards in the game. Meanwhile, Stanford junior Bryce Love is also looking stellar, with an average of 11.3 yards per carry in games against Rice and USC.
Let’s get back to Penny. He’s a powerhouse for San Diego, averaging 206.5 rushing yards per game, while leading the nation in all-purpose yards at 284 per contest. Aztec coach Rocky Long told reporters, “You’re seeing what we knew all along, that he’s one of the best running backs in the country.”
Stanford will be looking to make up last Saturday’s loss against USC. Last week, the Cardinal fell to the Trojans in LA, with a score of 42-24. Tonight, they’ll be looking to make up that bitter loss by defeating the Aztecs and standing triumphantly once again in another team’s home turf.
