De Lay Hoya dominated this contest. He completely annihilated Caballero with a flurry of offense for much of this fight. Caballero really got a whoopin’ in this one. Thankfully, Randy returns from this fight in one piece.

Jorge Lara vs. Joseph Diaz Jr.; Featherweights
Joseph Diaz and Jorge Lara duked it out from round 1-3. Diaz looked strong, but Lara was putting up a serious fight. Lara starred slipping up in the next rounds, but he still stood his ground and took the punishment like a true boxer. Diaz enters the 11th round for the first time in his career. He remains in control, but Lara won’t give up and works through the pain to the brutal end.

IBF/WBA/WBC Middleweight Title: Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (c)
Both fighters duke it out in round 1, but Golovkin hit his opponent with the jab early and stayed on point regarding offense. Round 1 goes to the champin Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Round 2 goes to Canelo, who was dangerously quick. Canelo fired back and kicked some serious ass in round 2. GGG was reeling hard in the second round.
Canelo worked over Golovkin body pretty effectively in this round. GGG fired back, but it didn’t seem to phase the challenger too much. Canelo came back towards the end, dominating the last two minutes of round 3. Golovkin is red hot, taking the fight to Canelo in round 2. Canelo is backing into the ropes, but takes the punishment from GGG very well.
GGG and Canelo trade shots in round 5. For the next two rounds, GGG remains the aggressor, but doesn’t throw any real big-time shots. Golovkin beats Canelo into the ropes. GGG is firing away with jabs and remains dominant well into round 8.
Alvarez hit strong and GGG took it like a champ. Golovkin takes shot after shot, but this just pisses him off. Both opponents go back and forth. Canelo fought back strong, but so did GGG. In the end, the fight ends in a split decision.
Split decision. Therefore, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is still the IBF/WBA/WBC Middleweight Champion
