Glastonbury Festival is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts that takes place near Pilton, Somerset. Leading pop and rock artists have headlined, alongside thousands of others appearing on smaller stages and performance areas. Films and albums recorded at Glastonbury have been released, and the festival receives extensive television and newspaper coverage. It is considered a major event in British culture. The festival is inspired by the ethos of the hippie, counterculture, and free festival movements. Starting just after the death of Jimi Hendrix in 1970, you can browse through the history of the Festival from then to the present.

Make sure you check out the BBC Music app which is free on iOS and Android. It was new for Glastonbury 2016. The festival has teamed up with EE to create the Glastonbury Festival 2017 app which provides plenty of information for anyone attending. This is available on iOS and Android.

How To Watch Glastonbury 2017 On TV

TV (and radio) coverage will be done so by Jo Whiley, Lauren Laverne, Mark Radcliffe, Alice Levine, Annie Mac, Cerys Matthews, Chris Evans and Huw Stephens.

The BBC has confirmed it will broadcast more than 30 hours (five more than last year) of coverage across BBC Two and BBC Four. Coverage will begin on BBC Two at 8pm on 23 June.

BBC Two will be the home of the Pyramid Stage so tune in for the headliners over the festival weekend. Meanwhile, BBC Four be showing a variety of whole sets from acts across all stages.
