Megan Sloan, a 27-year-old second grade teacher in Oklahoma, was arrested after police found needles, heroin, and methamphetamine in her purse.

Sloan, who teaches at Holmes Park Elementary in Sepulpa, Oklahoma, was caught by administrators after letting another teacher use her computer to sign into Facebook.

Sloan had forgotten to sign out of her account, which allowed the other teacher to read a message in which Sloan described how she sold school items and drugs in order to fund her own drug addiction. The assistant superintendent immediately called Sepulpa police, who then came to the Holmes Park Elementary to interview Sloan.

During questions, Sloan admitted to possessing Xanax, selling two school tablets, and stealing $125 in student field trip money. Police say they believe Sloan used stolen funds to buy gas and drugs.

After the interview, police searched Sloan’s purse, where they found 13 syringes, one of which had heroin residue in it. Police also found meth, drug-cooking spoons, and the prescription drug Suboxone, however, she claimed did not take drugs at school and never left her purse within reach of students.

Police booked Sloan into the Creek County Jail on charges of possession or purchasing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, embezzlement, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $41,000.

It all began on May 4, 1979, when Margaret Thatcher took office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Her political party placed an advertisement in The London Evening News saying, “May the fourth be with you, Maggie. Congratulations!” And for whatever reason, the phrase stuck.

However, there were no official Star Wars celebrations until 2011, when Toronto, Canada made them a reality. At the Toronto Underground Cinema, Sean Ward and Alice Quinn organized an Original Trilogy Trivia Game Show, a costume contest with celebrity judges and the web’s best tribute films, mash-ups, parodies, and remixes on the big screen. The celebration repeated the following year and now it has become a tradition. It also just so happens that ‘may the fourth be with you’ sounds a lot like a certain famous phrase from Star Wars.

Kathryn Hagan, a 38-year-old former Indianapolis teacher, was arrested after she allegedly had sex with a student. Hagan also allegedly bought another student a gun.

Hagan, 38, was arrested by  Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on charges that she allegedly had an inappropriate sexual relationship with one of her 17-year-old students.

According to reports, after Hagan invited the unidentified teenager to her home, she reportedly gave him Xanax. Hagan, who was employed as a teacher at Franklin Central High School at the time, also provided a gun to a second student. According to police, Hagan knew the student intended to use the gun to commit a crime.

Back on April 7, the Franklin Township Community School Corporation received an anonymous tip Hagan’s relationship with the teen. School administrators then subsequently notified the Indiana Department of Child Services, as well as local police.

Hagan was then placed on suspension and resigned as an employee of the school district.

According to court documents, Hagan invited the victim over to her home on March 28, and she gave him Xanax. On March 31, she invited the victim to her home again, and they had sex in her upstairs bedroom.

Police spoke with another student who said there was a 10-second video going around the school that showed Hagan and the victim naked together. Court documents say students were trying to use the video to blackmail Hagan into giving them better grades.

Investigators say Hagan also bought a gun for another student, and she told that student to use it to rob other students who may have evidence incriminating her on their phones.

Hagan, whose first day at the school was on January 3, resigned from her position on April 7.

The Franklin Township Community School Corporation released a statement on the situation, saying “Franklin Township is cooperating fully with the Department of Child Services and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department in their investigation.”

Hagan is now being charged with conspiracy to commit robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, two counts of child seduction, dangerous control of a firearm, and dealing in a schedule IV controlled substance.

Stephanie Amato, a 33-year-old special education teacher who pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with her 14-year-old student, blamed her actions on a heroin addiction during a recent court appearance.

On Tuesday, May 2, Amato was sentenced to serve between 11.5 to 23 months in prison. Amato, who previously taught at the Ethan Allen Elementary School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was also ordered to register as a convicted sex offender.

Amato, who is the mother of a seven-month-old son, claims she started abusing prescription opioids before she began using heroin every day. Allegations were first brought against Amato in 2014, when she was removed from her position until the completion of an investigation.

Stephanie Amato left a Philadelphia courtroom with an 11½-to-23-month prison sentence and the label of sex offender after pleading guilty to a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.

Defense attorney Trevan Borum told Common Pleas Court Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart that Amato began “recreational use” of prescription opioid narcotics in 2010 and that by the time of her arrest in June 2014 she was snorting heroin every day.

Borum said Amato underwent inpatient drug treatment in 2013 and 2014 and relapsed both times. Borum asked for probation for Amato, telling Minehart that the criminal offense was her first, that she was sober, and that she was the single mother of a 7-month-old son.

According to Amato’s attorney, she underwent treatment in 2013 and 2014, but relapsed both times.

Court Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart said: ‘I know drugs were involved, and that affects everything, but I understand that it’s not controlling of this behavior.’

Furthermore, Amato will also be put on 10 years of reporting probation and barred from contacting juveniles. She’ll also have to register her address and report herself four times a year as a convicted sex offender.

Brian Schear and his wife Brittany were traveling with their two-year-old son Grayson when they were told they’d be sent to jail if they did not give up their two-year-old son’s seat on a Delta flight, they claim.

The couple allege that they were also told their children would be taken away from them and are now demanding an apology.

After conducting an investigation into what the university called a “racially insensitive event” Baylor has decided to suspend it’s Kappa Sigma suspended the chapter.

Earlier in the week, up to 200 Baylor University students protested the fraterntiy, demanding sanctions against the fraternity, a formal apology, mandatory cultural competency education for students and faculty, recruitment of more diverse faculty and staff, and a bilingual staff in student financial aid and assistance.

While Baylor University was conducting their investigation, the national Kappa Sigma fraternity said it suspended the operations of the chapter while they conducted their own personal investigation.

“The allegations are inconsistent with the values of Kappa Sigma and, upon the completion of the investigation, the fraternity will address the findings in an appropriate manner,” Kappa Sigma’s statement said.

According to those who attended the party, dubbed ‘Cinco De Drinko,’ students were dressed in ponchos, sombreros, construction outfits, and maid’s uniforms. They were also accused of chanting ‘build a wall’.

Kevin Jackson, Vice President of Baylor, released a statement on the issue:

“The University has been made aware of a racially insensitive event that occurred last night off campus. The reported behavior is deeply concerning and does not in any way reflect Baylor’s institutional values. University officials are presently investigating the incident and gathering additional information. Baylor is committed to a Christian mission that actively supports a caring and diverse campus community, and we do not tolerate racism of any kind on our campus. When any incident that does not align with our faith and mission is brought to our attention, it is thoroughly investigated by the University, and appropriate action is taken. Baylor is wholeheartedly steadfast in our commitment to our mission and to enriching the racial and ethnic fabric of our University. We accomplish this by celebrating and strengthening inclusiveness, understanding, and acceptance of all members of the Baylor family regardless of race or ethnicity.

The incident comes after a tumultous couple of years at Baylor, including the resignation of former president Ken Starr after results of an investigation found ‘fundamental failure’ on the school’s part in responding to student sex assault allegations.

Prince Philip has announced that he will retire from all public royal duties after 70 years of dedication to Britain and Queen Elizabeth. The Queen has given her 95-year-old husband her “full support” to step down.

What Happened?

The Duke of Edinburgh announced his retirement at a secret emergency meeting called by Buckingham Palace which was attended by other royals including his daughter Princess Anne.

The decision was reached by Philip himself and he plans to step back shortly before he and the Queen reach their 70 year platinum wedding anniversary in November.

Staff from the royal household were called to London yesterday, which caused speculation regarding the health of the Queen and her husband. Thankfully, Philip – Britain’s longest serving consort in history – is doing just “fine,” and has decided to end his royal duties after supporting Queen Elizabeth since 1947. The Queen has vowed to continue her public engagements for as long as she lives.

Buckingham Palace released a statement this morning: “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has decided that he will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year. In taking this decision, The Duke has the full support of The Queen.

“The Duke of Edinburgh is Patron, President or a member of over 780 organisations, with which he will continue to be associated, although he will no longer play an active role by attending engagements.”

Philip and Elizabeth, in standard Royal fashion, were back at work an hour after the announcement, attending an Order of Merit service at St. James’s Palace.

Philip has appeared in more than 22,000 solo engagements and given more than 5,000 speeches during his long career.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into the NFL in 1976, and they’ve had cheerleaders on the sidelines since their inaugural season. It may have taken the Bucs a while to get rid of those goofy ass creamsicle uniforms, but at least they recognized the importance of cheerleaders right from the jump.

There are currently 30 members on the Bucs cheerleading squad that gets Raymond James Stadium bumping on game days. When the Bucs aren’t playing home games, their cheerleaders participate in a ton of different events in the community. They also release a swimsuit calendar every year, which is a great way to make sure that their fans never forget when Arbor Day is.

The New Orleans Saints’ inaugural season in the NFL was in 1967, and from their very first season in the league, the Saints have always had some form of dance teams. But the current version of the Saints Cheerleaders that we all know and love was introduced during the 1987 season. Brian Schear was traveling with his wife Brittany and two of their young children on a Delta Airlines flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles when they were told they’d be sent to jail if they did not give up their two-year-old son’s seat, they claim.

According to the Schears, they were also told their children would be taken away from them. The family is now demanding an apology from Delta.

Brian Schear claims that a Delta airline staff employee said: “You have to give up the seat or you’re going to jail, your wife is going to jail and they’ll take your kids from you?”

He videoed the confrontation and uploaded the footage to YouTube.

The family were set to travel from Hawaii to Los Angeles last week when they were told they needed to give up Grayson’s seat.

Brittany Schear told ABC: “As a mother, you have a one-year-old and a two-year-old – it doesn’t matter whether that’s true or false. It put fear in me.”

The Delta Airlines employee is said to have told the parents that Grayson – who had a car seat on top of his seat – would have to sit on one of his parents’ laps.

After a back and forth debate, the parents agreed to Delta’s request, but were suddenly told to deboard the plane. They did not receive a refund and were forced to book a hotel room that night and buy three additional plane tickets the following day, according to the couple.

In the video, you can hear Brian Schear asking, “I’m going to be in jail?” He also tells the Delta employee, “Well, you should have thought of (that) before you oversold the flight. I bout that seat.”

He told CBS2: “We never thought it was going to get to the point where they were actually getting us all off the flight. As we were leaving the plane, there’s four or five passengers waiting for our seat. The bottom line is, they oversold the flight.”

At first, the two youngest children were going to sit on the laps of their parents. However, when the the couple’s teenage son chose to travel on another flight – with a seat already booked – they seated Grayson in his seat instead.

Delta released a statement to CBS saying: “We are sorry for what this family experienced. Our team has reached out, and we will be talking with them to better understand what happened and come to a resolution.”

Dalton Bacco, a 19-year-old student at Carlow University, has died after falling from a fifth-floor balcony at the Catholic college in Pittsburgh.

Bacco of West View, Pennsylvania, died around 5:00 P.M EST on Wednesday, May 3, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. According to a spokesman from Carlow University, Bacco fell from the balcony on the top floor of the University Commons building to the pavement around 4:30 P.M. The University Commons building houses the student center, library, and the president’s office is on the fifth floor.

Bacco, who was a graduate of North Hills High School in Ross Township, was a freshman member of the Carlow University men’s golfing team.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner Office’s identifies the victim as 19-year-old Dalton Bacco of West View. He was a freshman at the university and a graduate of North Hills High School. Bacco was rushed to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in very critical condition, but later died from his injuries.

Brooke Bagnell, a Carlow student, said, “Everybody was crying, everybody was upset. This is a small campus; it’s almost like going to high school. Everybody ran outside. If they weren’t already out here, they ran out, and were comforting their friends that saw it. I had friends that saw it.”

Emily Schaeffer, a spokeswoman for the Pittsburgh Police, said, “The fall did not appear to be accidental or suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing.” Pittsburgh Police, Carlow campus police and University of Pittsburgh campus police are investigating the tragedy.

“As of right now it does not appear to be accidental or suspicious in nature, but they’re going to continue to investigate. We are still waiting for the medical examiner for the exact manner and cause of death. We will continue to investigate,” Schaffer said.

Drew Wilson, the director of media relations at Carlow University, said, “We’re devastated. First of all, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”

A prayer service to be held at the Mother of Sisters of Mercy Chapel in the Convent at Carlow University is scheduled for Thursday, May 4, at noon.

Ashwaubenon High School in Wisconsin was evacuated Thursday, May 4, otherwise known as Star Wars Day, due to a student wearing a Darth Vader costume. A concerned parent thought the boy was wearing body armor and posed a threat, prompting the lockdown.

What Happened?

The incident took place Thursday morning at Ashwaubenon High School. The facility was put on lockdown and then evacuated following the report of the potential threat, according to local authorities.

Ashwaubenon is located in a suburb of Green Bay. Another school nearby was also put on lockdown, officials said.

“The student was wearing a Darth Vader outfit with a plastic mask and was carrying a bag with him, and that outfit looked like he might be wearing a bulletproof vest or a flak jacket,” an unidentified police officer told reporters at the scene. “That, with wearing that mask and walking into the back door of the school, made a person very concerned. And we expect that to happen. We sure hope that people would call when this stuff takes place.”

The officer added, “We believe it was an innocent mistake right now.”

May 4 is commonly known as Star Wars Day, thanks to the play-on-words of the famous phrase from the movies, May the Fourth be with you.

The school posted an update to their Facebook page explaining the incident.

There are whispers spreading that NFL quarterback Jay Cutler may follow Tony Romo‘s lead and trade in his cleats and footballs for some loafers and a microphone. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Cutler has already auditioned with at least one network and has spoken with network executives about “football-related TV roles.”

The signal-caller has not yet retired, though he remains a free agent. If he was to hang it up, he’d surely garner a lucrative broadcasting contract offer from several networks. From 2009 – 2012, the Chicago Bears made the post-season just once with Cutler at the helm. In that span, Cutler missed eight total games due to injury while averaging 3,073 passing yards with 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions per season. Though solid, Cutler never elevated his game to elite levels. Despite this and due to the scarcity at the position, the Bears handed Cutler a seven-year deal worth $126.7 million in 2013.

Cutler’s total salaries during the first four seasons of his new deal were as followed:

On March 9, 2017, Cutler was released by the Bears. At the time, we was earning roughly $2 million in annual endorsements on top of his NFL salary. He also had a luxury car collection that was valued at $4.8 million.

Daliah Lavi, the Israeli beauty who starred in popular 1960s spy spoof comedies Casino Royale and The Silencers has passed away. She was 74.

Her family announced that she died Wednesday at her home in Asheville, North Carolina, of natural causes.

Lavi played the femme-fatale Tina Batori in The Silencers (1966), the first of the four Matt Helm movies that featured Dean Martin as the American spy.

Lavi, who became a popular sex symbol thanks to her striking good looks, returned to the spy parody genre with Casino Royale (1967) in which she played one of the “James Bonds” opposite David Niven, Peter Sellers, Ursula Andress and Woody Allen.

Her other roles include The Spy With a Cold Nose (1966), starring Lawrence Harvey, and Some Girls Do (1969).

At her 10th birthday party, Lavi met Kirk Douglas, who was filming The Juggler in her town in what is now Israel, and arranged for her to study ballet. A decade later, they worked together in Vincente Minnelli’s Two Weeks in Another Town (1962), and she received a Golden Globe for most promising newcomer (female) for her work.

Lavi (her stage name that means “lioness” in Hebrew) also appeared in a handful of European productions including The Return of Dr. Mabuse (1961), The Demon (1963) and The Whip and the Body (1963) before attracting attention as The Girl in writer-director Richard Brooks’ Lord Jim (1965), starring Peter O’Toole.

She appeared as the pretentious actress Ilona Bergen in the Agatha Christie remake Ten Little Indians (1965) and also had roles in Those Fantastic Flying Fools (1967), Nobody Runs Forever (1968) and Catlow (1971).

Lavi, fluent in five languages, lived in Asheville with her husband, Charles, since 1992.

She is survived by her children Kathy, Rouben, Alexander and Stephen, grandchildren Sophie, Ben, Emma and Hannah and Levi; and sister Michal.

At first, I thought this story was going to be about Bombay Sapphire recalling their gin because gin is f*cking disgusting. I’ve actually read studies that if gin is your drink of choice, you’re more likely to be a psychopath. And I’m all in on that science being true, because I cannot wrap my head around any remotely sane person choosing to drink gin. With all the alcohols in the world, why someone would choose the one that tastes the most like isopropyl smells is beyond reason.

Much to my surprise, the Bombay gin was not recalled because it’s essentially the devil’s water, but because inspectors found that the alcohol content was nearly double the level advertised on the bottle.

The bottles of Bombay Sapphire gin were found to have a 77% alcohol content as opposed to the advertised 40%.

Ontario’s Liquor Control Board was the first agency to report the latest incident, telling the consumer to return bottles of Bombay Sapphire brand London Dry Gin “due to high alcohol content.”

Four other provinces soon followed, telling consumers we that their money would be refunded. Bacardi, the maker of Bombay Sapphire Gin, said the affected batch is believed to have been sold only in Canada.

According to a statement from the Ontario Liquor Control Board, the problem was traced back to the production line:

‘One batch was bottled before correct dilution to achieve the stated 40 percent alcohol content by volume. As a result, the affected batch has alcohol content by volume of 77 percent,’ it said.

Bacardi said the recall was launched after “an isolated consumer complaint and subsequent quality assurance checks.” The company also said that up to 6,000 Bombay Sapphire bottles of gin may be affected.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, no illnesses associated with consumption of the gin have been reported.

Krista Voda is an American sportscaster with a special focus in auto racing. The 42-year-old Iowa native was a pit reporter for NASCAR on Fox and was the host of The Setup, the pre-race show for coverage of the Camping World Truck Series, in addition to Trackside on Fox Sports 1. Voda will be the host of the 2017 Kentucky Derby held in Louisville, Kentucky. The race is known in the U.S. as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports” or “The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports.” This year’s race will be the 143rd running and is set for Saturday, May 6, 2017 with a $2 million guaranteed purse.

Kelly Rohrbach, 27, is an American model and actress.

She played golf for Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, Connecticut, earning herself an athletic scholarship to Georgetown University to play golf for the Hoyas. Soon after, she was cast as C.J. Parker in the 2017 feature Baywatch, based on the popular 1989-2001 TV series of the same name. She’ll star alongside Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Jon Bass and Illfenesh Hadera. As many fans know, the role of Parker was originally made famous by Pamela Anderson, so Rohrbach has some big shoes to fill.

Baywatch will hit theaters on May 25.
