While on a team trip to Italy funded by an anonymous donor, the University of Michigan football coach and extraterrestrial in disguise Jim Harbaugh somehow found a way to meet the pope.

From what I understand, Harbaugh is a relatively religious man, so naturally, he gifted the Holy Father with… University of Michigan swag?

Harbaugh, along with his wife, compared meeting the pope to meeting Jesus Christ. Just like Justin Bieber wondered if Ann Frank would have been a Belieber, I wonder is ole’ Jesus would have been a Wolverine.

The Harbaughs presented Pope Francis with a University of Michigan football helmet with the number 266 emblazoned on it to celebrate the pope’s pontiff number, along with a pair of Nikes with ‘Your Holiness’ written on the box.

“It was emotional; it was beautiful. The Holy Father’s face is beautiful. His smile. The way he talks is peaceful. It’s calm. It felt like, this is what it would be like to meet Jesus Christ. That’s what it felt like to me,” Harbaugh said.

We’re huge Marshawn Lynch guys around here. In fact, one of my favorite articles I’ve ever written for COED was my recap of Lynch’s appearance on Running Wild with Bear Grylls. It was some of the most enthralling television I’ve ever seen, and it was all from BeastMode just being BeastMode. If you’re unfamiliar, give it a watch, because it’s a blast.

After news broke yesterday that the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders had agreed on a deal to send the future Hall Of Famer to his hometown team, tweets from all corners of the internet starting flooding in. Both athletes and fans alike were thrilled to hear that not only had BeastMode made it back to where he belongs, but he would be doing so in the Silver & Black.

However, it should come as no surprise that the greatest reaction to Marshawn’s return was from … Marshawn himself. And in classic Marshawn fashion, it was simple, yet eloquent.

Back in August 2016, director David Fincher’s name was rumored in connection to the long-gestating World War Z sequel from producer/star Brad Pitt. Fincher, a two-time Academy Award nominee, seemed like a long shot at the time and the rumors soon fizzled out. However, now it appears that the infamously fickle director is indeed close to signing on for the film, Variety reports.

So how did this not-quite-a-franchise-yet snag Fincher? First, Pitt’s recruiting efforts played a big role. The duo have worked well together in the past – Se7en, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – and Pitt’s producing role can help support Fincher’s big visions.

Another factor was the involvement of Paramount’s new chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos. The two previously worked together on Fincher’s Gone Girl and he is expected to officially give World War Z 2 the greenlight in the coming weeks.

Production isn’t slated to start until early 2018, giving Fincher plenty of time to plan out the movie.

The director has been wary of working on sequels ever since his time on Alien 3, but World War Z 2 offers a unique opportunity. Though the first movie scored $540 million at the box office, it wasn’t too big of a hit where fans consider it unchangeable holy scripture. Fincher would have the opportunity to play around as he sees fit. Plus, if it’s a hit, fans may be treated to more blockbusters with Fincher’s unique style, which is a plus.

Hopefully, the project comes together and audiences get to see World War Z 2 sometime in 2019.

Ohio State cornerback and top NFL pick Gareon Conley has been accused of rape by a 23-year-old woman one day before the NFL Draft.

The alleged victim said that Conley, 21, took her to a room in the Westin Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio on Sunday, April 9 and raped her in the bathroom.

Conley’s attorney denies the claim against the footballer and says that no charges have been filed in the case – but police say that it is still under investigation. Furthermore, video obtained by TMZ suggests that the claims made by Conley’s accuser may not fit the timeline of what actually happened.

The footage show Conley leaving the Barley House in Cleveland around 2:20 A.M. on April 9th … with the accuser and her female friends following closely behind. At one point the accuser reaches out and touches Gareon’s back.

A few minutes later, Conley has his arm around another woman in front of the bar and the accuser catches up from behind and grabs his arm. Gareon looks back and appears to hold her hand.  The video is critical because it appears to contradict what the accuser told police — that she first met Conley in an elevator at the Westin hotel around 2:45 A.M. Both sides agree they ended up in a hotel room at the Westin together. She claims Conley raped her. Conley adamantly denies the allegation.

We reached out to the accuser’s attorney, who stands by his client’s claims that she was sexually assaulted … but says the police report that was released to the public is “incomplete.”

Conley, who has played for the Buckeyes since last year, was the captain of the team last year and is a projected first-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

Conley released a statement on the allegations:

The allegations against me concerning the night of April 8/9 that have recently been reported in multiple media outlets are completely false. I did not commit a crime and have not been charged with a crime. I pride myself on doing things the right way on and off the field. The things being said about me and what happened that night are not true and don’t fit my character at all.

I realize that I put myself in the situation and I could have used better judgment. However, I have worked tirelessly to put myself in position to have the honor of being an NFL draft pick and these untrue allegations are putting a huge cloud over my name and the NFL Draft. These allegations appear to be an attempt to ruin this once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and my family. There were several witnesses, including another female, who were present the entire time and have given statements that give an accurate account of what took place.

We also have video evidence that further discredit and disprove other versions of these events. I am upset but realize that I am powerless when false accusations are made and people try to convict you in the court of public opinion. It’s sad that your name can get dragged through the mud based upon untrue and malicious allegations alone. I am completely confident that as the facts actually come out my name will be cleared.

I was excited about participating in Thursday’s draft but I have decided that it would be selfish for me to stay and be a distraction to the NFL, the other players and their families who have worked just as hard as me to enjoy the experience, so I will not be in attendance. I hope and look forward to the honor of being an NFL player and working to be the best representative, player, person and teammate that I can be for the team and the community I will be in.

Star Ifeacho, a 15-year-old high school basketball player from Kentucky, collapsed and died during a training session.

Ifeacho, a 6’1″ star player, collapsed during an open gym session at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky, around 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 26.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the sophomore had been working on drills and playing two-on-two with teammates when the shocking incident occurred.

The cause of Ifeacho’s death is unknown and an autopsy is being carried out today Thursday, April 27.

Fayette County schools spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall said some basketball players were working on drills and playing two-on-two basketball games in the presence of coaches and an athletic trainer.

“Star had stopped shooting baskets and was with the athletic trainer when he collapsed in the locker room,” Fayette schools Superintendent Manny Caulk said in a news release. “The athletic trainer immediately provided emergency care, including CPR and the use of the AED (automated external defibrillator), while 911 was called. When paramedics arrived, they took over his care and transported him to the hospital.”

Caulk said counseling and mental health services would be made available to affected students and staff on Dunbar’s campus.

Tributes to Ifeacho were shared on Twitter by friends and teammates:

Julian Tackett, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association commissioner, released a statement on Ifeacho’s death:

“The absolute worst part of my job is getting a call like I received Wednesday night with the sudden loss of this young man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family, the Paul Laurence Dunbar and Fayette County school community, and all of those who valiantly tried to save this young man following his incident. We recognize the fragile nature of life itself and wish peace on all who knew this fine young man during this difficult time.”

Ifeacho was averaging 6.8 points and 5.9 rebounds while playing in all 30 of Dunbar’s games this season. He would have been the second-leading returning scorer next season.

Volusia County Sheriff

Burgon Sealy Jr. has been identified as the suspect involved in the fatal shooting of a Delaware State Police trooper. The 26-year-old is wanted for the killing of Corporal Stephen J. Ballard, 32, who was fatally shot while investigating a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a Wawa convenience store in Bear on Wednesday.

Sealy fled from the scene and is believed to be barricaded inside a home in Middletwon, Delaware, state police said in a press release.

A second suspect was arrested at the scene of the crime.

What Happened?

State Police Colonel Nathaniel McQueen Jr. said Ballard saw a suspicious vehicle outside the Wawa, with two suspects inside. McQueen said Ballard “made contact with the occupants and shortly thereafter, a struggle ensued. It was at this time that one of the two suspects exited the vehicle and proceeded to fire several rounds, striking the trooper.”

One suspect was taken into custody by responding to troopers “without incident,” McQueen said. The second suspect fled on foot, he said.

A witness told The News Journal he was at a red light near the convenience store when the shooting occurred. Clarence Travers told the newspaper he heard gunfire and saw a police officer in a blue uniform fall to the ground.

Travers continues that he then saw a man exit the vehicle and shoot the fallen officer several more times before running away.

Kevin Lerner, an employee at the barbershop next door to the Wawa, told WPVI-TV he saw the shooting.

“When he pushed the officer he got a little room to run. So he pushed him and ran, and when he ran he ran for like seven or eight feet,” Lerner told the news station. “And then he turned around and started shooting. Just instantly started shooting.”

Ballard was rushed to Christina Hospital. Colonel Nathaniel McQueen Jr., the State Police superintendent, told reporters at a 5 P.M. press conference that the trooper had passed away.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the death of a Delaware state trooper,” McQueen said.

Sealy Jr. fled the scene and barricaded himself inside a nearby home in the Brick Mill Farm Development in Middletown, according to a Delaware State Police press release.

The home is owned by Burgon Sealy Sr., The News Journal reports.

“This investigation is related to the incident in which a trooper was shot outside a Newark area convenience store. A male suspect has refused orders to surrender and continues to fire rounds at police officers,” state police said. “No further details are available at this time and updates regarding this incident will be sent hourly or until the situation is resolved.”

Burgon Sealy Jr.

Burgon Sealy Jr.’s only prior criminal record before this incident appears to be a 2013 arrest in Volusia County, Florida, on felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor possession of not more than 20 grams of marijuana, according to online court records.

Sealy pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges and successfully served 12 months probation, which ended in July 2014, for the crime.

He was living in Daytona Beach, Florida, at the time, but the second half of his supervision was transferred to Delaware, allowing him to move back home.

An autopsy following his jailhouse suicide revealed that former NFL star Aaron Hernandez reportedly tested positive for synthetic marijuana.

Traces of K2 were found in Hernandez’s kidney stream after he hung himself in his cell on Wednesday at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts.

Hernandez’s alleged drug use prompted a raid at the facility, with dozens of state police officers searching inmates for contraband.

A kidney fluid screen conducted during an autopsy showed traces of the drug, the sources said.

That news prompted a State Police raid at the Souza Baronwski Correctional Center (SBCC) in Lancaster, Massachusetts on Monday, multiple sources say. (Like others who spoke to Newsweek for this story, they asked for anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak to the press.) Dozens of Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the State Police Emergency Response Team and Tactical Operations Team searched the SBCC—the jail where Hernandez died last week—looking for contraband, including paper soaked with the synthetic marijuana known as K2.

Officers were looking for liquefied drugs such as K2, which can be smuggled into prison by dipping corners of paper into the drug and mailing that piece of paper as a letter.

According to reports, inmates told investigators that they believed Hernandez was high on K2 when he died.

An investigation at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center has led to the paid suspension of at least one prison official, who reportedly missed his 2:00 A.M. rounds roughly an hour before the former Patriots player’s body was discovered.

According to London police, a man was arrested in Whitehall around 2:22 P.M. local time following a stop and search as part of an ongoing operation.

The still unidentified man was arrested on Parliament Street by armed officers from the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command.

According to reports, the man is in his late twenties and police found knives in his possession. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, and on suspicion of the commission, preparation, and instigation of acts of terrorism.

He is being detained under the Terrorism Act and is being held at a South London police station. Detectives from the Counter Terrorism Command are opening an investigation. At this time, no immediate threat is known.

The Metropolitan police said there were no injuries in the incident.

Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, tweeted his thanks to all of the first responders, saying:

“Thanks to all officers who deal swiftly & professionally with the incident in Whitehall. The Met Commissioner has briefed me on the arrest.”

This incident comes just over a month after Khalid Masood unleashed a deadly terror attack near parliament that left five dead and over 50 injured.

On March 22, Masood drove his car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, killing three people, before attacking the Parliament building and stabbing police officer Keith Palmer to death.

What Happened?

An unidentified man in his late twenties was arrested in Whitehall, Westminster, on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, and on suspicion of the commission, preparation, and instigation of acts of terrorism. According to the Metropolitan police, there were no injuries.

Recruiters Harry Peasnell, 27, and Andy Burnage, 22, were leaving the adjacent building which houses various Government offices after a meeting with officials when they were told over the tannoy the usual entrance on to Whitehall was closed. As they made their way back towards Parliament from the alternative House Guards Road entrance they said they were pushed back up Great George Street by several plain clothes police officers.

They then made their way to Parliament Square where they said they saw a man in his 20s or 30s, who they thought was the suspect, being spoken to by police next to the wall of the offices. Mr. Peasnell, who says he regularly has meetings in Westminster, said police were ‘quick on the scene’ and that he was not worried like he was during the terror attack in the area just weeks ago.

What Happened?

The unidentified man was shot by a policeman in his leg for threatening officers with a gun. Since the incident, the hospital has been closed and its surrounding areas have been cordoned off by the police.

The man is said to have ignored repeated warnings to drop his weapon and surrender, prompting a policeman to open fire. He’s being treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and while not much is presently known about the unidentified man, it has been reported that he’s 27 years old.

Agents from the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested 26-year-old Laith Waleed Alebbini at the Cincinnati/Kentucky International Airport for attempting to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization.

According to U.S. Attorney Benjamin Glassman, Alebbini, a citizen of Jordan and a legal resident of the United States since April 2014, attempted to travel to Syria through a flight to Turkey or Jordan. Investigators say Alebbini was trying to get to Syria to join ISIS’ fight against the Syrian government.

Alebbini, who was taken into custody by FBI agents on Wednesday, April 26, will be appearing in court on Thursday, April 27 at 1:30 P.M. He will be appearing in the U.S. District Court in Dayton before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Newman.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force consists of multiple entities, including officers and agents from the Cincinnati Police Department, Colerain, Police Department, U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Dayton Police Department, University of Cincinnati Police Department, FBI, U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Secret Service, Ohio State Highway Patrol, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Oakwood Police Department, West Chester Police Department, and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

Miracle actor Michael Mantenuto committed suicide on Monday, April 24, at the age of 35. Mantenuto is survived by his wife, a daughter, Ava, a son, Leo, and his parents, Joseph and Kerry.

Mantenuto was found dead as the result of a gunshot wound in Washington by the Des Moines Police Department.

Mantenuto’s death was announced by Col. Guillaume Beaurpere, commander of Mantenuto’s US Army’s First Special Forces Group. He joined the military following his acting career.

“Those of you that knew Mike will remember him for his passionate love for his family and his commitment to the health of the force,” the press release said.

Mantenuto, a college hockey player, portrayed Jack O’Callahan in the 2004 Disney movie Miracle.

Miracle was about the U.S. Men’s Olympic hockey team that went on to win the gold medal in the 1980 Winter Olympics. The film also starred Kurt Russell as Herb Brooks, the legendary coach of the U.S. Olympic hockey team.

Other than Miracle, Mantenuto only starred in two other movies, Dirtbags and Surfer Dude, before joining the U.S. Army Special Forces.

Michael Mantenuto died by committing suicide at the age of 35.

Col. Guillaume Beaurpere, the commander of Mantenuto’s army unit, announced his death on Facebook:

Dear 1st SFG(A) Family and Team,

It is with a great sadness that I notify you of the loss of one of our own. SSG Michael J. Mantenuto, 18E, HHC, 1st SFG(A) was found dead yesterday afternoon, 24 April 2017, by the Des Moines Police Department. Those of you that knew Mike will remember him for his passionate love for his family and his commitment to the health of the force. He is survived by his wife Kati Vienneau, daughter Ava, and son Leo, who live locally on JBLM; and by his parents, Joseph and Kerry Mantenuto who reside in Massachusetts.

The Group is standing by to support the family in any way possible and we will professionally execute those wishes. Our deepest condolences go out to SSG Mantenuto’s family, friends and teammates. We are committed to supporting them through this difficult time of loss and grief.

Lousiana State University offensive lineman Adrian Magee has been arrested and subsequently suspended from the LSU football team.

First-year head coach Ed Orgeron announced on Wednesday, April 26, that Magee had been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. Magee was then arrested just a couple of hours later. According to Magee’s arrest warrant, Magee is accused of committing burglary at an apartment on West Chimes Street in Baton Rogue.

According to Baton Rouge Police, the unidentified victim returned to his apartment just before 12:00 A.M. on April 1, where he found that the door to his apartment was forced open and he was missing electronic items and cash.

The victim says he began searching through his apartment to assess the damage when Magee stuck his head through the open door and asked the victim if he had been burglarized. The victim, who said he is an LSU football fan, recognized Magee because he was wearing clothes with his football jersey number on it.

Magee, after telling the victim he was going to check his security cameras to see who burglarized his apartment, soon returned with several of the victim’s belongings. The burglarized items included an Xbox gaming console, six Xbox games, Gucci flip flops, an Onyx Bluetooth speaker, and $1,200 cash stolen from the apartment. The victim’s girlfriend’s purse was also dumped out.

Magee, a sophomore who played in three games last season as a redshirt freshman, was arrested and booked on one count of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

It is also worth noting that while every team will participate in the draft, some organizations will have more picks than others. The two teams with the most picks are the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns (both with 11). The two teams with the least amount of draft picks are the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills (both with six). While having more picks does not guarantee better picks, it certainly gives those teams ample picks more options with how they want to build their team for the future.

Warner Bros.

Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe has not enjoyed the smoothest of rides since kicking off with 2013’s Man of Steel. Mixed reaction to its three entries has cooled fan interest and drama behind the scenes has not instilled confidence in this burgeoning shared cinematic universe. The latter especially applies to The Flash, which has gone through a handful of directors and pre-production issues.

But that problem may have just been solved.

Screen Junkies is reporting that Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump) is in talks with WB to helm The Flash.

While this would be a major win for Warner Bros. and help assuage the doubts of fans, the report is yet to be confirmed. Hollywood scoop master Umberto Gonzalez is even refuting SJ’s report.

It’s important to note that Gonzalez has also whiffed on some big exclusive reports in the past, but he’s definitely one of the more plugged in guys around Hollywood.

If true, Zemeckis has the necessary sci-fi and storytelling chops to save the sinking ship that is The Flash. Despite having star Ezra Miller in place, The Flash has reportedly lost as many as three directors in its troubled development process. Who better to swoop in at this point than the established and well-respected Zemeckis?

The DCEU is badly in need of a comeback and WB is hoping that this summer’s Wonder Woman and November’s Justice League can help restore some luster to their product. If both films prove popular with fans and critics, adding Zemeckis to the mix could really put the series on a roll.

The six-seed Milwaukee Bucks’ 2-1 lead in their best-of-seven series with the three-seed Toronto Raptors feels like it was a million years ago. After dropping Games 4 and 5, the Bucks are now one loss away from getting bounced from the postseason.

In Game 5, Norman Powell came out of nowhere to lead the Raptors in scoring in their 118-93 home win. The second-year shooting guard only averaged 8.4 points during the regular season, but I guess he was just playing possum all year long. He scored 25 points while putting on a shooting clinic, hitting 8-of-11 from the floor, 4-of-4 from three-point distance, and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Powell also chipped in four rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block to round out his stellar night.

For the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s dominance wasn’t enough for them to get the job done. The Greek Freak scored 30 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the floor while grabbing nine boards, dishing out three assists, swiping three steals, and blocking three shots. Through the first five games of the series, Antetokounmpo is averaging 23.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game.

If the Bucks are going to even this series up and force a Game 7, they will have to tighten up on the defensive end. In Game 5, Toronto hit 57.7% from the floor, 44.4% from three-point range, and 92.3% from the free throw line. It’s nearly impossible to lose a basketball game when knocking down shots at such a high rate.

Tonight in Ottawa, the Senators will host the New York Rangers for Game 1 of their second round Eastern Conference best-of-seven series. In the regular season, the Senators got the better of New York, going 2-1 in their three meetings.

The Rangers secured a spot in the 2017 NHL playoffs by earning one of the two wild card bids in the East. They went 48-28-6 in the regular season, amassing 102 points over 82 games.
