We’ve got an intriguing rematch taking place over the pond today, as Jorge Linares will travel to Anthony Crolla’s hometown of Manchester, England to defend his lightweight WBA belt. In their previous meeting, Linares came to Crolla’s city and left with his title after outpointing him via unanimous decision. It was the first time that Linares ever went 12 rounds, and he pulled out the victory by scores of 117-111, 115-114, and 115-113 in the September 24, 2016 bout.

Linares (41-3, 27 KOs) has been a world champion in three weight classes over his career, holding belts in the featherweight, super featherweight, and lightweight divisions. The Venezuelan native boasts several impressive wins over high level fighters, as he’s defeated Óscar Larios (10th round KO), Jesús Chávez (4th round KO), Nihito Arakawa (unanimous decision), and Kevin Mitchell (10th round KO).

Crolla (31-5-3, 13 KOs) won the WBA lightweight title on November 21, 2015 after knocking out Darleys Pérez in the fifth round. He made one successful defense against Ismael Barroso on May 7, 2016 before Linares snatched his title in the fall. Crolla exercised his rematch clause against Linares, and it will be interesting to see if he learned anything from their first bout.

Now that the eight best teams have been set in this year’s March Madness, it is time to knock those eight down to four, and that will happen this weekend. “Indian Four” Preview/Trailer

A concerned mother sent a thank you note to a Florida police department for arresting her daughter. Yes, you read that correctly.

The anonymous mother sent a thank you letter to the police department of Walton County, Florida for the way they handled the arrest of her daughter. Her daughter was arrested for underage drinking while on spring break.

The letter, which was posted on Sheriff Michael Adkinson Jr.’s Facebook, thanked the Walton County police for allowing the spring breaker to call her mother after she was arrested.

The underage woman was arrested on March 15 when she was caught holding an open container of beer on the beach.

“In this day, “cops” are getting a bad rap. So, I wanted to say “thank you”. Yesterday, my daughter was one of the thousands of spoiled spring breakers “living it up” on the beach. She got arrested for underage drinking. She was holding a can of beer on the beach. A stupid move that I warned her about before she left, but I’m just her mother, so “in one ear and out the other”.

The arrest scared the HELL out of her and I’m hoping she learned her lesson. The reason that I am sending this is that every officer that I talked to or that I could hear in the back ground talking to her was so nice! Firm, but nice. I’m sure each one was rolling their eyes when my daughter said “Can you talk to my mom?”, but each and every officer was respectful and assured me she would get back to her house safely.

For a mom hundreds of miles away, that was very reassuring. I know you all have to deal with this on a daily basis, which must be completely annoying and I’m very sorry my daughter added to your workload yesterday. They say you always have one child that makes you go grey early and she is mine! Thank you for saving me a few more grey hairs last night.”

Patrick Abbatiello, a student in Portland, Oregon, has become the first person in the United States to be designated as ‘genderless.’

Abbatiello was deemed genderless by Multnomah County Judge Amy Holmes Hehn, who granted a petition on March 10 allowing Patrick Abbatiello to go from male to agender. The petition also allowed Abbatiello to switch to the single name Patch.

Being agender means that the individual sees themselves as neither a man nor a woman and therefore has no gender identity.

According to Patch’s Facebook page, they study creative writing and are the co-coordinator of the Queer Resource Center at a branch campus of Portland Community College.

“As a kid, probably starting around age six, gender didn’t make sense to me,” Patch told NBC News. “I was told ‘men were this, women were this.’ As a teen I learned about transgender people, and that didn’t seem like what I was. And then I learned about genderqueer, and that didn’t seem like what I was.”

A handful of organizations serving transgender, gender-nonconforming and intersex people told NBC News that no U.S. court has ever granted a legally genderless status before.

“This is the first time that Sylvia Rivera Law Project has heard about this, and we applaud the court recognizing the person as they are,” attorney Kyle Rapiñan said. “We hope that other government agencies will help people self-determine their gender identity, which also includes the option to identify without a gender.”

Judge Amy Holmes Hehn is also the same judge who allowed Jamie Shupe to legally change to non-­binary in June 2016.

In an email to NBC, Hehn said that her decisions were supported by facts and law.

According to Tempe police, it was headed south on McClintock Drive when another vehicle turned left in front of the Uber at Don Carlos Drive.

They crashed and the Uber rolled onto its side.

Tempe police said nobody was injured in the crash and that a person was behind the wheel of the Uber. Police aren’t sure if the person was in control of the car when it crashed.

“We are continuing to look into this incident and can confirm we had no backseat passengers in the vehicle,” a spokesperson for Uber said.

Uber has suspended its pilot program for driverless cars and launching an investigation into the incident.

Hassan Childs, a University of South Florida football player, was shot three times on Saturday, March 25.

Childs, a 22-year-old defensive back, was injured in the shooting that Tampa police Lt. Steve Lee said was the result of a road rage incident.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa police said they received a call from Jovanni Jimenez, 26, claiming that Childs pointed a gun at him, his wife, and his child at the Eagles Point Apartments at Tampa Palms.

About 11:15 P.M. Saturday, police received a call from a man later identified as Jovanni Jimenez, 26, saying that a man, later identified as Childs, pointed a gun at Jimenez and his wife and child at the Eagles Point Apartments at Tampa Palms, 14551 N 46th St.

Jimenez then pulled his gun and shot Childs, 22, in what he told police was self-defense. Childs was hit three times in the upper arm and torso, Lee said. Childs, a senior safety who practiced with the Bulls on Saturday afternoon, is in stable condition, according to the university.

It is unclear what started the argument. The case has been forwarded to the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges should be filed.

First-year USF head coach Charlie Strong released a statement about the incident:

“Thankfully Hassan is in stable condition and being well cared for, and no one else was injured. There is an ongoing investigation of the incident and we are in the process of gathering further information. Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation, we cannot comment further at this time.”

While Childs has no criminal record in the state of Florida, Jimenez does. According to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office records, Jimenez was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence charges in 2015 and was also arrested in February 2012 on misdemeanor charges of opposing an officer without violence.

Phi Gamma Delta, otherwise known as FIJI, has been suspended at University of Nebraska-Lincoln until 2020. The university suspended the fraternity until 2020 for instances of “reckless alcohol use, hazing, and inappropriate sexually based behavior” that violated the Student Code of Conduct.

According to a university spokesman, evidence collected by the University of Nebraska showed occasions physical and mental hazing of pledges over a period of time.

The fraternity came under further scrutiny following a January Women’s March in which attendees said members of FIJI shouted sexually inappropriate comments outside of the chapter’s house. Witnesses said members chanted “no means yes” as well as other inappropriate euphemisms in response to chants from marchers raising awareness of sexual assault. The allegations led to a Title IX investigation.

However, now Phi Gamma Delta board members are questioning the university-led investigation that resulted in the three-year suspension.

John Osterholm, who spoke on behalf of the 14-member FIJI board, said UNL obfuscated the investigation, creating a complicated and confusing situation for Phi Gamma Delta that made it difficult for members and a lawyer representing the chapter to “obtain even the most basic information.”

Omaha attorney Todd Kinney, who represents the chapter, said the fraternity was exploring options to appeal the suspension.

FIJI also said the university acted with indifference at protests against the fraternity following the Women’s March, and that members were labeled as “racists and rapists without justification,” according to Osterholm.

As part of the suspension, freshmen members of the fraternity can no longer live in the fraternity’s house, lowering the active members in the house from 60-65 to about 40-45.

Working for CBS, LaForce is the lead reporter for SEC college football games, a courtside reporter for both college basketball and the NBA, and is the host of We Need to Talk on the CBS Sports Network.

At only 28 years old, look for LaForce to be a force (HA I’m f*cking hilarious) in the sideline reporting game for a long, long time.

Look, no one likes when their school’s team loses, especially during March Madness. It’s completely understandable to be upset. But empathy only stretches so far when fans starting burning things and drunkenly mosh pitting.

Such was the case for University of Kentucky students following the team’s crushing last-second loss to North Carolina in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Rowdy and pissed off students gathered on State Street after the game to set fires to trash, boxes, cans, beer bottles, shirts and even a TV.

Yeah… college is weird.

The crowd can also be heard chanting ‘f— UNC’ in a video taken capturing the post-loss depression. That one we can understand a bit more.

Listen, we get it. The Tar Heels hit a game-winning jumper with 0.3 seconds left. That’s a gut-wrenching way to lose a game and would enrage any fan with a heart. But is this really the most appropriate response?

We’d even be more forgiving if this was a one-time thing. But UK students set a chair on fire in the middle of State Street last week when Kentucky beat UCLA. Let me repeat: they lit fires after a victory… C’mon now, people. You’re better than that.

“I’m proud of these guys,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said after the loss. As he should be because the team played their hearts out. It’s the fan you have to worry about.

Kentucky (32-6) will miss out on the Final Four for the second straight year. Carolina (31-7) will play Midwest champ Oregon on Saturday in Phoenix in the national semifinal.

A massive fire broke out at the East Bay Community Recovery Center, a rehabilitation center in Oakland, California. The building, on the corner of Mead and San Pablo Avenue, is a three-story building. The fire began at 2551 San Pablo Avenue around 6:10 AM PT. Firefighters, who pulled seven residents from the building, were forced to retreat as floors and ceilings collapsed.

According to Oakland Fire Department Battalion Chief Eric Logan,  a total of seven people were pulled from the building which is believed to house roughly 50-60 people. Furthermore, responding firefighters reported seeing someone on the third floor of the building but were unable to reach the person due to heavy flames and smoke, Logan said.

Firefighters were quickly pulled from the structure for safety concerns, forcing them to battle the flames from the ground and via extended ladders, according to fire officials.

Roughly one hour after the blaze ignited, crews appeared to be gain an upper hand in the fight. Large clusters of flames were replaced by billowing plumes of white smoke. Firefighters also managed to contain the flames to the structure involved.

Residents inside the building told NBC Bay Area that the fire may have been caused by a burning candle.

Three people who were rescued were injured, mainly from smoke inhalation. Currently, there are no reports of people missing according to the battalion chief.

The fire is located at the East Bay Community Center

The flames began at 2551 San Pablo Avenue at 6:10 A.M. Floors and ceilings began collapsing, forcing firefighters to retreat. Multiple rescues have been made but several people remain missing, according to KTVU. As of 10:30 A.M. the fire was still raging.

NBC San Diego reports that one person is feared to have died. Seven have been rescued as this writing.
