Brianne Altice, a former Davis High School teacher convicted of having sex with three of students, appeared before the Utah Board of Pardons seeking an early release from prison.

Altice, who was an English teacher, was convicted of three counts of forcible sex abuse. Utah Board of Pardons and Parole Vice-Chairman Robert Yeates said Altice had encounters with one of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, in a church parking lot and during lunch hours.

Another relationship with a student, 17, included sexual conduct in his home. Finally, a third sexual relationship was carried out with another 17-year-old boy, however, this relationship included encounters while Altice was already facing criminal charges for the other two.

“I clearly lost sight of all my values and my principles and was seeking inappropriate means to address my own issues,” Brianne Altice said during an emotional hearing. “Issues I’m very aware of now.”

Since going to prison, Altice has completed a paralegal certificate and taken other classes, in addition to attending life skills courses and therapy. Altice somehow has a job lined up at a legal service and her family was giving her housing once she is released from prison.

The victims of her crimes did not appear at Altice’s parole hearing, and two of them have filed lawsuits against her and the Davis School District.

According to the police report, officers spotted the rapper’s Porsche pulling out of a Miami Whole Foods lot Wednesday night. Cops immediately recognized Stitches from previous arrests — he has a unique face — and asked if he had a gun. He said no.

However, he did immediately hand over a rolled up, slightly burnt joint … according to cops. When they searched the car, they found a Glock under his seat and 2 magazines of ammo. Cops say he apologized and said he thought they were asking if he had a gun ON him … not IN his car.

Cops say they also found a mason jar filled with 39.2 grams of weed and one oxycodone pill, no prescription. He was booked for felony gun and weed possession.

Hopefully Stitches has piled up enough gun charges to finally be locked away forever. Just an overall disgrace to mankind.

A fake Netflix app has been discovered by cybersecurity experts, with app features that can take over your device and spy on you.  The device gives strangers access to your phone’s camera, microphone, and messages, which allows them to do all sorts of things, including allowing them to take nude photos and listen to your conversations. Talk about big brother.

The creepy app for Android was discovered by cyber-security experts, Zscaler, who describe it as ‘a well-crafted piece of spyware we’re calling SpyNote RAT.’

Shivang Desai, a security researcher at ZScaler, wrote: ‘The iOS and Android apps for Netflix are enormously popular, effectively turning a mobile device into a television with which users can stream full movies and TV programs anytime, anywhere.

‘But the apps, with their many millions of users, have captured the attention of the bad actors, too, who are exploiting the popularity of Netflix to spread malware.’

The fake app is downloaded from an unofficial source, rather than from the Google Play Store.  It uses a piece of software called a trojan, which sneaks onto devices disguised as an app.

The last thing you need when you’re Netflix & chillin’ with a girl is some perv on the other end watching you and cranking one out. So kids, if you’re gonna download Netflix, just do it from the app store.

For the first time, scientists have grown an embryo that is part-pig, part-human.

The experiment, described Thursday in the journal Cell, involves injecting human stem cells into the embryo of a pig, then implanting the embryo in the uterus of a sow and allowing it to grow. After four weeks, the stem cells had developed into the precursors of various tissue types, including heart, liver and neurons, and a small fraction of the developing pig was made up of human cells.

The human-pig hybrid — dubbed a “chimera” for the mythical creature with a lion’s head, a goat’s body and a serpent’s tail — was “highly inefficient,” the researchers cautioned. But it’s the most successful human-animal chimera and a significant step toward the development of animal embryos with functioning human organs.

The creation was the first demonstration that such an interspecies organ transplant is possible. The hope is that one day doctors may be able to grow human tissue using chimera embryos in farm animals, making organs available for sick human patients who might otherwise wait years for a transplant.

That’s all fine and good, but seriously, how far away are we from this kind of medicine being practical? The benefits are there, all I’m saying is let’s start tangibly fighting disease instead of trying to create human organs out of farm animals.

The high flying #9 North Carolina Tar Heels look to add another win to their current six-game winning streak, as the sneaky good Virginia Tech Hokies head on down to Chapel Hill in a Thursday night ACC showdown. On paper, UNC should get their seventh consecutive win (which I would expect them to), but Virginia Tech has been playing some pretty good ball as of late.

Currently sitting atop the ACC, the Tar Heels had to grind out a win against Boston College on Saturday 90-82, but you know what they say, “a win is a win.” UNC has been on an absolute roll lately winning eight out of their last 10 games, including six in a row. They currently hold a 1/2 game lead over both Florida State and Virginia for the ACC lead, and with the way they’re playing now, I can’t imagine anyone taking over the top spot from them. Their schedule doesn’t get any easier for the rest of the season, as they have to face Duke and Virginia both twice, Notre Dame, and Louisville. Although I don’t see them having too much trouble tonight, UNC can’t afford a loss with their remaining scheduling being quite tough.

After losing three out of four games in a recent stretch, the Hokies have bounced back nicely with two straight wins over ACC opponents in Georgia Tech and Clemson, respectively. Their biggest win of the season came against then #5 Duke, where they absolutely smacked them around 89-75. The Hokies have been surprisingly good this year with a 15-4 record, and 4-3 record in ACC play. A win tonight on the road against another Top 10 team would be huge a huge resume booster when the committee is deciding who to give a tournament bid to come March. It’ll definitely be a tough one for Virginia Tech tonight for sure, but we’ll just have to wait and see if they can pull off another big upset.

Jeffry Smith, an open-carry activist, was been spotted around the University of Cinncinati campus this week with two sidearms, a larger rifle and, and even ammunition at times. Three University of Cincinnati employees contacted WCPO to say Smith’s presence made them feel uncomfortable.

According to a post on Smith’s Facebook page, he spent about 10 hours on Wednesday at the Tangeman University Center with members of the campus group “Young Americans for Liberty”. They were attempting to gather signatures on a petition as to involve more students in campus carry rights decisions. Furthermore, according to his Facebook, Smith also attended a Student Senate meeting from 6 to 9 p.m.advocating for open carry.

University of Cincinnati Director of Public Safety James Whalen released a statement Wednesday promising to monitor Smith’s presence on campus and reassured the university community’s safety.

In the state of Ohio, open carry of a firearm is legally permitted in public spaces, pursuant to the United States and Ohio Constitutions. As you walk outside between buildings on the Uptown campus you may see these individuals. Ohio’s open carry laws were just recently changed in December, when Governor John Kasich signed a bill allowing concealed carry in daycare centers and on college campuses. Although both teams are playing as well as they have been in years past, the Indiana vs. Michigan game tonight is a classic Big Ten showdown that any college basketball fan can still find themselves getting excited about. Considering their records, neither team can really afford a loss, so we should be in for a good hard fought battle tonight.

Coming off a First Round exit in the NCAA Tournament last year, the Michigan Wolverines have been having an okay season, but as they currently sit with a 13-7 record, they’re going to need to start reeling off some wins, and/or most likely win the Big Ten Tournament if they want any chance at getting back to the big dance in March. They’ve lost four of their last seven games but won their last game against conference rival Illinois to stop some of the bleeding. Michigan thrives off of their hard nose defense that’s only allowing 65.8 points a game, but their struggles come offensively where they’re only able to score a little over 74 points a game, which isn’t going to cut it in the rough and tough Big Ten. A second straight win against a conference opponent could be a much-needed confidence boost for this Wolverines team.

After a recent stretch in which they lost four of five games, the Indiana Hoosiers have responded nicely by going on a three-game winning streak, all of which have been against Big Ten opponents, to only put them two games off the Big Ten lead. With junior guard James Blackmon Jr. leading the way for the Hoosiers with 18.3 points a game, Indiana can really position themselves nicely at both a Big Ten title run and tournament bid tonight with another conference victory.

Well, it was only a matter of time until a bunch of whiny college kids got into some fisticuffs (I’ve never used that word before so this is a milestone, congratulations for reading this) over Donald Trump’s election. If you ask me, everyone’s at fault here. Everyone knows when you get in a fight with your girlfriend you both need to cool for few hours until you can reengage in peace treaty discussions. Liberals and conservatives need to adopt the same mentality.

In video uploaded to Facebook by West Virginia student Kaitlynn Critchfield, a college student, identified as West Virginia University Left Alliance president Kelley Denham, assaults and cursed at a conservative’leader on Wednesday. Denham grabbed for the man’s phone multiple times in an attempt to prevent him from filming the exchange. ‘Sad!’ as our President would say.

The two groups were reportedly meeting to organize a joint debate. The beginning of the first video shows Denham telling the conservative students, “Yeah, you guys should leave.”

In the second video, Denham can be seen assaulting and cursing at one of the students who left with Critchfield.

After the video began going viral,  Kaitlynn Critchfield posted a video on Youtube further explaining the situation.

There’s a couple of angles to this one. First of all, we’re only hearing on side of the story. Conservative websites such as the Blaze, Fox News, and Milo Yiannopoulos have covered the story, but so far, I haven’t been able to find any liberal leaning sources covering the issue. Couple that with the lack of comment from Denham and the alliance he represents. In that regard, we are only getting one side of the story.

Secondly, as is the case with most of the videos that go viral, we are only seeing parts of the story. Other than Critchfield’s account, we are unsure of what led Denham to ask them to leave, or what led him to continue to follow Critchfield and her friends. What is see is that Denham appears to be outnumbered. Now, he actions are both immature and inexcusable, but it’s hard to pass judgment when truly only getting one side of the story.

As Critchfield’s Facebook page indicates she is a journalist, she of all people should know there are three sides to a story.

Listen, I’m going to be straight up- I consider myself a liberal, but it’s these type of people that are starting to make me think I should jump ship. It’s when flag burning comes into play that I lose all respect for whoever’s doing it. You can bitch and moan and march and all you want, but when you burn the American flag, your argument becomes automatically invalid. When will these people realize that respecting the flag has less to do with the government and its branches, and more to do with our military and the men & women who fight for us.

According to KCRG, those at the rally said they were protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline and a variety of other issues. The flag burning was not intended to be anti-veteran, members of the group said, but instead meant to protest racial and social injustice and U.S. imperialism, they said.

However, after burning a couple of flags, FedEx driver and part-time superhero Matt Uhrin had enough and stepped in. Speaking to Press-Citizen, Uhrin declined to comment except to say his actions were not related to his employer.

Thankfully, police arrested 21-year-old Kelli Ebensberger of Iowa City and 23-year-old Paul Osgerby of Ames for open burning, a simple misdemeanor.

According to the police report, officers say they saw Osgerby setting fire to a U.S. flag Ebensberger was holding. The pair did not have a permit from the fire department for a fire.

Both men are due in court February 23.

Poor Chuck. Anytime he gets in any sort of basketball argument he KNOWS there’s always the potential of the championship rings joke coming out. Just like the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead and J. Cole went platinum with no features, “Charles Barkley never won a ring” could pop up at any given moment.

On TNT’s legendary Inside The NBA,  Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley argued about Lebron James’ leadership tactics before the start of Thursday’s televised game between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.

O’Neal believed James should’ve kept things in house rather than complain about the state of the club to reporters and the big man pointed out it takes more than just a Big Three to win a title.

“They just won a championship!” Barkley yelled back. That began quite the back-and-forth.

“You know nothing about going back-to-back,” O’Neal calmly responded.

Barkley immediately went silent. Even almost 20 years after his retirement he still has no comeback to the ringless joke. Poor guy.

The tennis gods are smiling down on us, as we are blessed with a truly amazing Australian Open final. For the 35th time, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will face off in the next chapter of their captivating rivalry.

Nadal holds the edge in this matchup, going 23-11 against Federer. But when it comes to hard courts, Nadal only holds a 9-7 lead over Federer. Nadal and Federer have met three times in the Australian Open, with Nadal taking all three matches. Nadal is also 9-2 against Federer in all Grand Slam events.

Not many people expected Nadal and Federer to end up in this final, as the 35-year-old Federer was given the 17-seed and the 30-year-old Nadal was given the 9-seed. But in my humble opinion, that just makes this showdown all the more sweeter. Nadal will be going for his 15th Grand Slam singles title and his 2nd Australian Open title, while Federer is gunning for his 18th Grand Slam singles title and his 5th Australian Open title.
