The Nintendo Switch is finally on its way! Last night, there was a huge event that swept thousands of gamers off their feet, including an announcement about all of the details of Nintendo’s latest gaming console. It’s very unique in that it acts as both a home and mobile gaming device with many unique features, and there is definitely a lot of potential for the lineup of games when the system launches on March 3.

Unfortunately, Super Mario Odyssey won’t be coming until the holiday season later this year, but I gladly welcome the wait so that it can be the best game possible when it hits the shelves.

So far, the trailer shows an all-new style of adventure for Mario, jumping through downtown New York and a multitude of other unique locations that look stunningly beautiful and colorful. To say that a new Mario game coming later this year is exciting would be enough, but a new 3D Mario game makes the hype seem all the more real.

Needless to say, I’m very excited to see more about Super Mario Odyssey. Who wouldn’t be? A brand new system with an awesome looking Mario game scheduled for release this year is enough to make 2017 the year we’ve all been waiting for.

It’s been a while since I’ve made some picks, mostly because the Bowl Season beat the living shit out of my bank account, but like a phoenix rising from the ashes, I’m back, bitches. The last time I made college basketball picks, I did not do so well, going 1-4, but fortunately for me, I still have a winning record. I’m done picking Friday night games because they’re all trash, so I’m going with the Saturday games, and boy, do we have a great slate on tap. After a month-long hiatus of soul searching and meditating, I’m back and ready to get back on track. Enough of this small talk, let’s get down to the winners.

Louisville vs. Duke

I never feel great betting against Duke, but here I am doing it, and let me tell you why. As talented as I think the Blue Devils are, they’ve got a ton of controversy swirling around them right now, especially with all of the tripping, shoving, and whatever else super villain Grayson Allen is doing right now. And for the record, I LOVE Grayson Allen. Duke having a player that everyone hates is great for college basketball. Having said that, I like the Cards because they’re playing in front of their home crowd, and there’s a huge coaching mismatch with no Coach K for Duke going up against my man Rick Pitino.

Pitt vs. Miami

I don’t just like the Panthers in this spot, I LOVE them. Both teams are on a two-game losing streak, but Pitt is 9-1 at home this year and is coming off of a hard-fought game against Louisville in which Jamel Artis dropped 43 points. Pitt also recently had a big win against #11 Virginia, and the Hurricanes haven’t beaten anyone of that caliber yet this season. So I’ll ride with Pitt here, which is not only a great pick, but it will also make my friends who went to Pitt happy too, a win for everyone.

Kentucky vs. Auburn

I’m aware that the spread on this is pretty high, but that’s because Kentucky is that much better than Auburn, so I’m rolling with the Wildcats. Is it lame to bet on the heavy favorites? Yeah, I guess, but you know what else is lame? Trying to get fancy betting on a big time underdog only to lose all of your money. Screw that, give me that asshole John Calipari and his freshman that he pays more than most NBA players.

UNC vs. Florida State

Call me crazy, but I’m not buying all of this Florida State hype. I know they’re coming off of a nice win against Duke, but I feel like Florida and Virginia Tech upset Duke every year. You know what else? Florida State is a football school first and foremost, and football schools aren’t suppose to have good basketball teams. Give me the Tar Heels at home, and get this whole “Florida State is a good basketball team” nonsense out of my face.

South Carolina vs. Ole Miss – Lock of the Week

Am I making this my Lock of the Week because I went to South Carolina? Partially, but also because the Gamecocks basketball program has been on the rise over the past few years, and have even had a few stints in the Top 25. South Carolina is currently third in the SEC right now and has a 9-1 home record, while Ole Miss has a losing record on the road (1-2), given they’ve only had three road games. Regardless, I’ll take the Gamecocks as my Lock of the Week.

That’s right, I’m going with five home teams this week. Does that make me a genius or a sucker? I don’t know, you tell me after I go 5-0 this week. I’ll see everyone here again next weekend with another list of winners. Damn, it feels good to be back.

On Saturday afternoon, the Duke Blue Devils will travel into hostile territory to take on the Louisville Cardinals. This is a must-see event, as these two college basketball powerhouses have very contrasting styles of play. Currently, Duke is 18th in the country in scoring (84.5 points per game), while Louisville is tied for 15th in the country in defense (61.9 points per game). Something’s gotta give in this ACC showdown.

Duke (14-3, 2-2 ACC) started the week ranked #7 in the AP Poll, but they will probably drop a bit after losing to #9 Florida State on the road. The Seminoles pulled off an 88-72 victory on Tuesday night, and it will be interesting to see how the Blue Devils respond to having another tough road game on the docket.

While Duke lost their most recent game, Louisville is coming off two straight wins. The #14 ranked Cardinals (14-3, 2-2 ACC) have beaten Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh the last two times they stepped on the hardwood.

It’s a small sample size, but since Louisville joined the ACC in 2014, Duke has held the upper hand in the series. The Blue Devils have gone 2-1 against the Cardinals in their first three meetings as fellow members of the ACC.

The Xavier Musketeers will travel to Hinkle Fieldhouse for a Big East clash against the Butler Bulldogs. This game should come down to the wire, as these teams are very evenly matched. Xavier scores 76.5 points per game and gives up 67.3 points per game, while Butler scores 76.9 points per game and surrenders 65.5 points per game.

On Monday, Xavier (13-3, 3-1 Big East) was ranked #15 in the AP Poll, but they will probably drop a couple of spots after getting blown out on the road against #3 Villanova. The Wildcats routed the Musketeers, cruising to a 79-54 victory on Tuesday.

The #12 ranked Bulldogs (14-3, 3-2 Big East) are likely to suffer a similar fate in the polls, as they were also beaten by a damn good team on the road in their most recent game. On Tuesday, #8 Creighton pulled out a 75-64 win over Butler.

The big difference in Saturday’s game might be Butler’s home court advantage. The Bulldogs are undefeated at home this season and have won their last 15 games at Hinkle Fieldhouse, but fittingly enough, their last home loss was to Xavier. The Musketeers beat Butler 74-57 on Saturday, February 13, 2016, which was the last time these two teams faced each other.

So, rappers boxing each other for money is a thing now, huh?

An Instagram Live video from Thursday night shows Philadelphia rapper and King of Taking Ls Meek Mill saying he would fight Drake for $5 million. The video takes places in a gym while someone else is recording on their cell phone. Meek can be heard saying that he would “break Drizzy the f**k up for five mill” while talking about the upcoming Soulja Boy and Chris Brown “fight.”

“Of course I would,” Meek says,“And we gone make Nicki the ring girl.”

I think it goes without saying that this is a win-win for about every person on Earth (other than Chris Brown and Soulja Boy). A Drake-Meek brawl dilutes their upcoming fight by miles. Throw in Nicki doing what she does, and you have a pay-per-view sale on par with McGregor money.

As I’ve said, the Drake-Nicki Minaj dynamic interests me because Drake is literally the more feminine of the two. Drake whines about love lost while Nicki goes bars deep about stealing money and getting laid. It’s reassuring knowing that even for a dude like Drake, who could literally have about 80% of the hottest women in the world, there’s always going to be that one chick who will always have the upper hand on you.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day will take place on Monday, January 16 this year. The annual federal holiday always falls on the third Monday of January, which is close to King’s January 15 birthday. No one did more for the Civil Rights Movement than King, and this holiday is in celebration of his life. King was tragically assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee at just 39-years-old.

School sucks enough as is, so the last thing students need is a sexual assault question coming out of the clouds and making the whole situation worse. As for the teacher who used the question, they’re blaming a website where they download stock questions. Essentially what the school is saying is ‘we didn’t purposefully use this question, our staff is just lazy.”

As for the question: “Angelou was sexually abused by her mother’s ___ at age 8, which shaped her career choices and motivation for writing.”  The answers were a. boyfriend, b. brother or c. father.

A number of parents complained to the Pennridge School District about the question. The district said the assignment was “downloaded from a website that allows teachers around the world to share educational resources.”

“It is not part of our approve curriculum,” the district said in a statement.

The district apologized for the question and said they have taken steps to make sure that never happens again, which hopefully includes teachers reading over their assignments before handing them out to their students.

Fresh off of saying that no women like Asian men on national television, human foot-in-mouth Steve Harvey had a meeting with the soon-to-be leader of the free world. It is unclear at this time what the two television personalities were actually meeting about, although Harvey claims it was a “successful meeting.” We’re sure it was very important.

Earlier in the week, Harvey faced backlash for comments he made on Family Feud:

“‘You like Asian men?’ ‘I don’t even like Chinese food. It don’t stay with you no time… I don’t eat what I can’t pronounce,” Harvey said.

On Friday afternoon, UFC president Dana White appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Fox Sports 1, where he pitched an offer to Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor to put the proposed mega-fight on pay-per-view.

 “I’ll tell you what Floyd, here’s a real offer and I’m the guy, I’m the guy that can actually make the offer and I’m actually making a real offer. We pay you $25 million, we’ll pay Conor $25 million and then we’ll talk about pay-per-view at a certain number. There’s a real offer,” White revealed.

It’s a major change of tune from White, who has spent the past year saying there was no way a fight between McGregor and Mayweather would ever actually happen.

The UFC president’s comments come just a couple of days after Floyd Mayweather said he would fight McGregor for a guaranteed $100 million. Mayweather offered McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion, $15 million with a percentage of pay-per-view buys split between the two of them, which White took issue with:

“To say that Conor McGregor hasn’t made $8 million or $10 million in a fight, wrong again. To think that you’re the ‘A’ side — how are you the ‘A’ side?.

The last fight, the last major fight you were in, you left such a bad taste in everybody’s mouth that nobody wants to see you again. His last fight did 350,000 pay-per-view buys. Conor did 1.3 (million  and 1.5 (million) pay-per-view buys. So I don’t understand how you think you’re the ‘A’ side and there’s a reason why you want this Conor McGregor fight so bad — because you know that’s your money fight.”

Mayweather has yet to respond to White’s offer.

Let me preface this video by saying that I’m a huge fan of the police. They put their lives on the line to keep us safe, and I owe each and every one of them a huge debt of gratitude. I would never in a million years have the stones to do what they do day in and day out.

As much as I support police officers, I cannot deny that this video is absolutely hilarious. Watch a young hellion knock a female cop off of her bike by throwing a soccer ball at her front tire. It’s a big-time jerk move, but it’s undeniably funny.

I’ve watched that video a dozen times and it keeps getting better and better. I blame growing up on America’s Funniest Home Videos for my cold-hearted ways when it comes to people falling down, as I just can’t help myself. I see someone bust their ass and I’m automatically laughing. No exceptions.

But I do hope that she didn’t get hurt and that kid gets grounded for eternity. He must be related to this diabolical dickhead.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has released body camera footage of an encounter between a deputy and a naked woman, later identified as Lisa Luna, who was recorded while stealing the officer’s patrol truck.

The officer’s body camera footage shows the deputy greet Luna before going to retrieve a blanket for her. When he returns to the truck, the video suddenly shows her sitting in the front seat of his patrol truck. The unnamed deputy tries to stop the suspect from driving away and is partially dragged. Luna then led officers on a chase along Interstate 8.

The wild video also shows him using another citizen’s car to chase after Luna, who was arrested and is being held with multiple pending charges. She gave her first interview from jail on Monday claiming she felt like she was possessed.

Last night was Nintendo’s big day to reveal all of the latest information about the new Nintendo Switch. Amidst all of the news, the games are the most important pieces of information to consider when planning to purchase your new game console. Does it have games that interest you and when do they come out? We’ve all been waiting for the day The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would finally come out, and now it’s almost here. By far, this is the most amazing game on the system and is no doubt going to be extremely popular with men and women of all ages. This is the game that’s selling me on buying a Nintendo Switch and I don’t mind it one bit. It’s big, it’s beautiful, and it’s Zelda. It seems that this game is going to be important to the lore of the Zelda series, so it should be a no-brainer for any existing fan of the series. I truly believe that this is going to be the game that lives up to the massive hype that Nintendo has built over the years. Everyone seems to be very excited for the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and rightfully so.

This one is a bit more unique, but I do think the concept is pretty neat. It’s a party game in which you use the controller of Nintendo Switch do perform different actions according to the game you select. The one featured in the presentation, Quick Draw, is a two-player versus mode where you compete to see who can “shoot” their controller faster. There are other modes as well, so it should have a good amount of variety to warrant the $49.99 price point. It’s sure to be a fun party game for the whole family to enjoy, not to mention a great demonstration of a new piece of technology.

Just Dance 2017

Everybody loves Just Dance, so naturally, it is coming to the Nintendo Switch. It should make great use of the new motion controllers, and hopefully, add quite a bit of variety and difference when compared to the other available versions of the game on other consoles. Of course, you can also take it on the go, so that’s already a plus for the fans with more active lifestyles. If you’ve been holding out on getting Just Dance 2017, this is probably the version to get.

While it’s not my first choice for a launch title, Skylanders Imaginators is a staple for the younger audiences who might want a Nintendo Switch. It’s great for kids and adults alike, and it’s more fun when shared between the two. This edition seems to add quite a few cool new characters and levels, not to mention the Nintendo crossover figures that will most likely be featured in the future.

It’s finally possible to play the definitive version of The Binding of Isaac at home and on the go using the same system. As one of the most popular indie games in the past few years, this is a very welcome addition to the library of already amazing games. While it’s nothing new, it’s always good to have a familiar face when you’re in an unfamiliar place. While, again, it wouldn’t be my first choice, I don’t mind that it’s here to stay.

The launch day lineup may seem a bit weak, but that’s because there are plenty more games yet to come that were not mentioned above.

Later in March, we should be seeing I Am Setsuna, Super Bomberman R, Snipperclips, and Has-Been Heroes making an appearance on the Nintendo Switch. It has not been specified whether these games will be ready for the release, but they will be ready during that month.

Also, keep a lookout for Puyo Puyo Tetris, Lego City Undercover, Redout, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, Sonic Mania, and Rime which will be coming this spring, Splatoon 2 this summer, and Super Mario Odyssey over the holiday season later this year.

A few other games, such as Xenoblade 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, and an untitled entry in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise have been mentioned, but do not yet have a release date. More information will be shown for Fire Emblem on January 18 at 2:00 P.M. PST/5:00 P.M. EST via Nintendo Direct.

We’ve got a doozy on our hands this Saturday afternoon, as Florida State will travel to North Carolina to take on the Tar Heels in an ACC track meet. Both of these teams love to get up and down the floor, and they can score in bunches with the best of them. North Carolina is 6th in the country with a scoring average of 89.3 points per game, while Florida State’s 86.7 points per game is good for 13th in the country.

The #9 ranked Seminoles are red-hot, winning 14 straight to extend their record to 16-1 on the season. They are tied for first in the ACC with a 4-0 conference record, and their last three victories have all came against ranked conference opponents. Florida State beat #12 Virginia 60-58 on the road, #21 Virginia Tech 93-78 at home, and #7 Duke 88-72 at home in their last three games.

Standing in the way of the scorching Seminoles are the #11 ranked Tar Heels. North Carolina has an overall record of 15-3, and they are in third place in the ACC with a 3-1 conference mark. As talented as the Tar Heels are, they haven’t fared very well against top 25 competition so far this season. Heading into Saturday’s game, UNC is just 1-2 against ranked opponents.

The Cavaliers are invading Sacramento tonight to battle the Kings. This is the first time these two teams are meeting this season. But if you look at the history books, the Cavs got the Kings’ number when it comes to victories. The Cleveland team currently owns three consecutive victories over the Kings. Both Baylor (15-1, 3-1 Big 12) and Kansas State (13-3, 2-2 Big 12) will be eager to bounce back from tough defeats in this Big 12 showdown. In Monday’s AP poll, the Bears were ranked #1 in the country for the first time in their school’s history.

But the top spot won’t belong to Baylor come next Monday, as they were promptly blown out by West Virginia on the road in their next game. On Tuesday, the #10 ranked Mountaineers forced the Bears to turn the ball over a whopping 29 times en route to a 89-68 victory.

The #25 ranked Wildcats also suffered a difficult loss in their most recent game, albeit in a very different manner. Instead of getting blown out, Kansas State suffered a brutal 66-65 loss on the road to Texas Tech. The Wildcats could use a big win in the worst way, as they’ve now lost two of their last three contests.
