PC gamers are in for an exciting 2017. In addition to the growing sector of virtual reality add-ons such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, there are loads of traditional games to get excited over. It’s a given that the annual-release sports titles and a new Call of Duty game will come down the pike, as well as whatever surprises wait for announcement at E3. But there are already several games we know enough about to want to preorder already.

5. Prey

This one has little to do with the long-forgotten 2006 alien-focused FPS. A wholesale reimagining of the first game, this one places you aboard a space station in an alternate timeline in which JFK survived his assassination. As alien forces attempt to contain you, you infiltrate the base and hunt down upgrades. Think Metroid Prime, but much better looking.

4. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands

The war against drug cartels hits the grand scale here, in the first open-world setting for a Clancy game. The setting is near-future Bolivia, which has emerged as a rising power due to the clout and funds wielded by drug lords. As a Ghost, you undermine the cartel regime by taking down outposts, knocking out trade routes and infiltrating bunkers. Multiplayer will pit teams against one another in tactical struggles.

3. Halo Wars 2

Real-time strategy games are rare these days, having been largely replaced by MOBAs. This game is a promising attempt to pump new life into the genre by enlisting the always-reliable Halo mythos. You wage war on a colossal scale by manufacturing bases and troops to out-maneuver enemy forces. Even though this game is built for the Xbox One, PC gamers know that the mouse and keyboard setup is the superior way to play RTS.

2. Crackdown 3

This open-world series was a refreshing thrill ride a decade ago, and now it’s back to let you guide your super-powered law enforcement agent to new heights. Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay has been named the Los Angeles Rams’ new head coach, the team confirmed Thursday afternoon. McVay got his start as an NFL coach in 2008 as the Buccaneers’ assistant wide receivers coach before joining the Redskins as an assistant tight ends coach in 2010. He was promoted to the position of Washington’s offensive coordinator in 2014.

McVay first interviewed for the position of head coach last week, where he reportedly wowed Rams executives. He then apparently impressed San Francisco 49ers officials while interviewing for the same position on Monday. McVay was offered the job after his second interview with the Rams on Wednesday, and accepted on Thursday.

McVay, 30, is the youngest head coach in NFL history.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team (14-2) will visit the Miami Hurricanes (11-3) in a historic rivalry Thursday night in Coral Gables, Florida. Notre Dame comes into play with an undefeated 3-0 conference record while Miami is even at 1-1. The Hurricanes will debut their 2017 Hardwood Classic uniforms in this game, fitting considering the opponent. Additionally, Jim Larranaga is just one win shy of 600 career victories in 33 seasons of coaching. His team is 8-0 at home this season, and has rattled off 15 consecutive dating back to last season.

Bruce Brown is a cut above Miami’s next best scorer (10.9 avg ppg), and Notre Dame’s Matt Farrell will likely be tasked with stopping him. Bonzie Colson is the best offensive player for the Irish and they will have to lean heavily on the big man. Power forward Kamari Murphy must elevate his play for the Canes to win this one.

Thursday afternoon, President Barack Obama awarded an emotional Vice President Joe Biden the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, during a surprise White House ceremony. “This also gives the internet one last chance to talk about our bromance,” Obama said as he introduced Biden.

“For your faith in your fellow Americans, for your love of country and for your lifetime of service that will endure through the generations, I’d like to ask the military aide to join us on stage,” Obama said in the ceremony. “For my final time as President, I am pleased to award our nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.”

An extremely emotional Joe Biden, in traditional Biden fashion, accepted the award but claimed he did not deserve it.

“This honor is not only well beyond what I deserve, but it’s a reflection of the extent and generosity of your spirit. I don’t deserve this but I know it came from the President’s heart,” Biden said.

Give the credit to the White House for being able to keep this a surprise. Biden, who was shocked by the entire gathering, said he had no “inkling” that the ceremony was going to happen.

To close out the introduction, Obama quoted Republican senator Lindsey Graham:

“If you can’t admire Joe Biden as a person, you’ve got a problem. He’s as good a man as God ever created.”

Poteet, a former beauty queen, 29, appeared in the Downing Centre court in Sydney, Australia, on Wednesday, January 11 after being charged with assaulting her boyfriend, Wade McKenzie. And apparently, this isn’t her first run-in with the law.

In 2011, during her reign as Miss Virginia, Poteet made headlines when she was accused of verbally attacking her gay roommate and using a homophobic slur, which she vehemently denied. Ultimately, she was asked to give up her title after she posted a photo of herself wearing her crown on Facebook with the caption, “Miss Alcoholic USA.” At the time, the director of the Miss United States Pageant Organization, Chris Wilbur, told NBC, “[Poteet’s] character was not a good fit for the organization, so we gave her the option to change or leave. She chose to leave.”

In 2013, she was also charged with misdemeanor assault and battery against a former boyfriend, James McElroy. The case was dismissed when the prosecutor asked McElroy what happened, and he said he couldn’t remember.

Since her reign as Miss Virginia USA came to an abrupt end, she has been living in Australia and working in human resources at an engineering and renewable energy firm.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sergeant is concerned that “introducing any form of sexual behavior to a workplace could be seen as a slippery slope that makes people think that other forms of sexual behavior, such as those linked to harassment, are more acceptable.”

Donald Trump may be the first true president of the social media era. While Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram were around during Barack Obama’s presidency, that wasn’t the case beforehand. Back in 2008, Facebook was still catching up to Myspace, Instagram didn’t even exist, and Twitter, Trump’s favorite social media outlet, was still in its infancy. There was no such thing as a politician with a Twitter handle.

It’s safe to say a lot has changed in the last eight years. In today’s world, some use Twitter as their primary news source. In 2017, our future president’s most direct line of communication with the American people is Twitter. Despite the company’s failing stock, it is this factor that will keep the social media platform relevant, or at least relevant for the next four years.

Going into 2017, I’ve realized something important about our culture; we’re in a time of re-innovation and nostalgia. Creating this top 5 list further proves the point, as all of them seem to harken back to an older age in time, yet bring something new to the table for everyone to enjoy. With platformers being such a classic genre and style for older video games, it’s no wonder that this list is filled to the brim with franchises that have seemingly disappeared. I’m extremely thankful that all of these games are showing tons of promise rather than the usual display of mediocrity that litters the old and forgotten. It’s fascinating and truly remarkable what you can do with an idea that has aged for a few years, and it’s even more fascinating that it can turn out to be so good.

Crash is back and better than ever! Next year, Crash Bandicoot will be returning for his first debut in years as a remake of the first three games in the series, originally on the first Playstation home console. The modern graphics help Crash and the gang look fresh and new, all the while it’s still the same three games we’ve loved for years. Jumping, dashing, and bouncing on boxes could never be better in HD, so it’s finally time to relive our childhood with the Playstation 4 in 2017. Oh, and let’s not forget those crazy boulders.

Hey 90s kids, remember Banjo-Kazooie? Coming from members of the very same team that worked on one of our favorite 3D platformers of all time comes Yooka-Laylee, a brand new take on the legacy that Banjo had left behind on the Nintendo 64. If anything, I’m more excited to play Yooka-Laylee now than ever given that some time has passed for a total makeover of the 3D platforming genre. The music is also composed by Grant Kirkhope, the same man who worked on the Banjo-Kazooie games, and I’m sure we all remember how catchy those tunes were. So, if running around and jumping all over bright, vibrant 3D environments while collecting different items in order to progress through the story sounds like fun, don’t hesitate to pick this one up early next year.

Sonic Mania

It looks like Sonic finally has finally remembered what made him so wonderful back in the day. It’s easy to say that Sonic Mania truly is what Sonic fans have been wanting for the past 10 years. It has a memorable classic style, fast-paced gameplay, and none of the technical and visual atrocities that have been plaguing Sonic titles since 2006. I’m very excited to see what direction they will take with Sonic Mania and all future titles in the franchise. Hopefully, this title will be the one to win back all of the fans who have been disappointed with Sonic games recently. Either way, the spring is looking to be fast and speedy with the welcome addition of a certain blue hedgehog that we all know and love.

Cuphead

Cuphead is a love letter to the classic cartoons from way back in the day. It features an art style reminiscent of the 1930’s hits such as Mickey Mouse, Popeye, and Tom and Jerry. You can play the game as a traditional platformer or jump into the boss-rush mode for some fast paced action with a friend. I love the idea of running through a game, boss after boss, with a friend by my side, not to mention the awesome platforming segments. The art direction and general design also really speaks to me, and I hope that it can live up to the hype it has created despite the delay in the release schedule.  Thankfully, everything is looking great, so definitely keep an eye–or rather a cup–out for Cuphead.

This decade is truly the decade of re-innovation and nostalgia; development team Gears for Breakfast truly shows their appreciation for classics like Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie with their latest project. It’s no coincidence that The Hat in Time looks so amazing, though, with the legendary Grant Kirkhope once again working on a musical score that always seems to bring back memories of the good old days. There are tons of things to collect, places to explore, and adventure to be had next year. Thankfully, if you’ve already supported the game, you can get access to the game in its beta stages, meaning you can have some fun with it right now before the game’s official release. It seems to me that 3D platformers are making a comeback, and I’m hoping the quality can be better than ever.

Torian Graham, the leading scorer for the Arizona Sun Devils, was caught by cameras giving the University of Arizona student section the middle finger. Graham claims that the students were calling him the “n-word” during the game.

Graham would go on to tweet and then delete an apology, saying “I apologize for my actions. There was racial slurs said, and I didn’t react the right way as I should. My apologies to the ASU program.”

Graham scored 18 points during Arizona State’s 91-75 loss to the Wildcats.

I’m posting this video because I’m a huggeeeee tiny home guy. If you’re unfamiliar with the wave that is tiny homes, do yourself a favor and go on a quick YouTube search. There’s just something about the convenience of a tiny home that intrigues me. They’re sleek, modern, comfortable, and can be transported anywhere. HOWEVER, living in a tiny home and living in a storage unit are two vastly different animals.

Which brings us to this dude who spent pulled the wildly creepy/economic move of spending two whole months living in a 10x10x6.

I had just came back from hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and found myself homeless. I had given up my apartment to go hike and now that I was back I wanted to turn my car into a livable space. I eventually did that but found I still needed access to lots of stuff from my storage unit which was 6x4x10 and everything was just jammed in there. I figured there had to be a better way. I scoped out a 10x10x6 unit and moved all my stuff inside. Still super small, I managed to build shelves and organize it in a way where everything is accessible. But why stop there! I decided to build shelves and a water system and setup my actual apartment so I could live there. I was moving in! I ended up living in the unit for around 2 months. I only spent around $100 making the space as efficient as I did, mostly because I already owned so much hardware. The cost of rent on my unit was $205 a month (which included insurance). A bargain, considering an apartment in the area was $1000+ a month. I made this video showcasing my work/unit.

So, what do we think? Serial killer? Spatial genius? Just a regular hippie? All three? Who knows? All I know is, while I’m allllll about the tiny home life, the storage unit lifestyle is a little too woke for me.

Last night, The Chainsmokers dropped a music video for their new song “Paris.” My first impression was that this song sucks, but I’m sure it will grow on me, despite my best efforts to hate it. After hearing it 100 times on the radio, I’ll go from despising it to belting out every goddamn word. That’s how The Chainsmokers’ songs work. Those crafty bastards know how to make an infectious tune.

One thing that always delivers, though, is Alexis Ren in a bikini. It doesn’t take repeated viewings of this video to start appreciating what she’s bringing to the table. No sir. Watch Alexis make her presence felt right from jump street.

After my second listen, the song is still hot garbage and Alexis is still a total babe. If MTV wants to make a comeback and finally be about music once again, they should just demand that every music video features several butt shots of Alexis. Ratings would go through the f*cking roof.

Before this article goes anywhere, let’s get one thing clear: McDonald’s is the worst of the big three fast food burger joints by far. If someone asks you what the worst fast food restaurant is and you say anything other than McDonald’s, you are what’s wrong with this country, straight up. McDonald’s should be for two things and two things only: mothers shutting up their five-year-old children or drunk high school kids. If you’re anything other than a screaming child or a cross-eyed teenager, you have no business eating at Mickey Dee’s. Just Google ‘blue stuff in McNuggets’ or ‘McDonald’s Burger Lava’ and you’ll be as woke as I am.

Now that I’ve got that rant out of the way, we can talk about these 12-year-olds slinging heat over a 10-piece.

Even with a gun pointed at her head, a Harlem schoolgirl refused to hand over a McNugget to a hungry classmate bent on getting his hands on her grub, cops said. The tough-as-nails 13-year-old bought the 10-piece snack at a McDonald’s at Lexington Avenue and East 103rd street Tuesday ­evening, cops said.

Almost immediately, a classmate at Harlem Democracy Prep asked her for a McNugget — and she ­refused. But her 12-year-old tormentor wasn’t taking no for an answer, and followed her into the 6-train station at 103rd Street. He pulled a gun, pointed it at her head and once again demanded a McNugget.

That’s when she showed nerves of steel and smacked the gun away, sources said. She told the kid, whom she knew from school, to get lost and then she got on the train.The pint-sized criminal quickly boarded the same car and showed off the gun to another child. He did not approach her again.

So, there are two angles to take here. Let’s start with the gun-toting lunatic 12-year-old who will probably grow up in prison. Are you willing to f*cking shoot someone over one nugget? If you’re gonna pull out your piece, you have to walk away with all 10 nuggets. That’s like robbing a bank and only walking away with a couple of 20s. If you’re going to go, go for gold, especially when it comes to murder and robbery and stuff (that life lesson is on the house).

As for the little girl who has bigger balls than I do: A+ for effort and guts, but F- for logic. Balls will get you a long way in life, but you definitely use your brain more, and if your brain is telling you one nugget is worth getting shot, you’ll never even get to use those balls. Give up the nugget and move on.

“She’s brave to do that,” said a 14-year-old named Jaden, who lives in East Harlem. “If the gun is not on safety, you don’t know if he’ll pull the trigger by accident. It’s brave but not the wisest move to do.”

Name one thing on your bucket list.

One thing on my bucket list is to travel to Greece. I have a lot of family on the islands of Greece, and I have always wanted to travel there to meet them and see the beautiful waters and culture. Even though I have never been, I have always felt like a piece of me is there. Secretly, I’m mostly excited about trying all the different types of foods that they have to offer.

If I could travel anywhere in the world for Spring Break, I would choose Australia because I have always wanted to see the Great Barrier Reef. Australia still has that warm fun atmosphere that every college student is looking for on that Spring Break trip and offers so many different experiences than here in the states. Cheers to that!

The Smoking Gun

25-year-old Shaearion Davis was arrested on Tuesday after stealing an absurd amount of condoms. The rubber caper of the century took place at a Schnucks grocery store in Swansea, Illinois. Via The Smoking Gun, here’s how it all went down.

Supermarket employees dialed 911 after they saw Davis swiping the condoms (and they tailed her after she left Schnucks). When Davis spotted the arriving cops, she ditched the Trojans and sought to flee. But the East St. Louis resident was quickly apprehended outside the business (seen below).

Davis, seen above, was charged with felony retail theft. After refusing to allow jail personnel to photograph and fingerprint her, Davis was charged with obstructing a police officer, a misdemeanor.

Locked up in lieu of $50,000 bond, Davis–who has entered a not guilty plea–is scheduled for a January 20 preliminary hearing. Davis’s rap sheet includes prior theft convictions and several outstanding arrest warrants.

31 boxes of condoms!? I couldn’t use that many over the course of an entire lifetime. Homegirl is either a prostitute, on a blistering Tinder hot streak, or an enterprising business woman. Davis might have swiped the condoms, so she could make a killing selling them on the street.

Personally, I love a good bargain, but I’d have to pass on black market condoms. It would just seem way too risky that you’d end up with a shoddy product like the ones Bob Sacamano gave Kramer. The fear of bringing a Toby Hasty Jr. into the world due to using a bootleg condom would far outweigh the benefits of any savings.

Because the value of the condoms exceeded $300, Davis was charged with felony theft. That’s such a dumbass move that I’m going to rule out her being a savvy business woman. I just hope that she had the foresight to get a variety of condoms. She would have been shit out of luck if she encountered a magnum dong.

I was watching this show Black-ish because it won some Golden Globes and had strummed up some positive buzz. Plus, I’m cultured and shit, all about expanding my horizons, so I tuned into their Trump episode this week. Anyway, long story short: This white woman had a line that went something like, “White women aren’t sisters, we hate each other.” I found that both pretty hilarious but I also found it to be really true.

Which brings me to my point. When it comes to bros, we’re bros, but we also don’t agree on a lot of shit. In fact, half the fun of having friends in telling them why they’re wrong and you’re right. But there are a couple things we do agree out uniformly: weed is tight, sports are cool, beer is good, and Leo is the f*cking man. That’s the Mount Rushmore of things bros agree on. So, every time we see the commander in chief land another slam, we all collective raise our glasses in celebration of The King.

There are times where I wish we could resurrect Einstein to develop a new theory of Leo’s game. It’s not only that he’s hooking up with the hottest women in the world, but the sheer variety is astounding. From Rihanna to Nina Agdal, Miranda Kerr to Blake Lively and an endless list of both A-listers and dime-a-dozen models, Leo’s game is something this species has never seen, and deserves to be studied by only the sharpest of minds.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday that is celebrated every year on the third Monday of January. This year it will take place on Monday, January 16, as it always falls close to King’s January 15 birthday. King was a famous civil rights activist, who was tragically assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennesee at just 39-years-old.

To celebrate’s King’s life and all of the good he did for people everywhere, MLK Day was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1983. It was observed for the first time in 1986, but it wasn’t until 2000 when all 50 states recognized it as a paid holiday for all state employees.

There are a handful of drinking stories that land somewhere in between widely accepted fact and urban legend. There’s Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs drinking 107 beers in one day, 64 of them on a cross-country flight:

But there are lesser known, equally deserving men in the history of drinking, one of whom is named Bill Werbeniuk. Don’t worry, I hadn’t heard of him either.

William Alexander “Bill” Werbeniuk, born January 14, 1947 was (RIP) a Canadian professional snooker (snukes?) and pool player.  As Wikipedia GLORIOUSLY states, Weberniuk was recognizable for his “girth” (top five words ever), earning himself the nickname “Big Bill.” As it goes, Werbeniuk, who checked in at a rotund 280 pounds, was down 30 pints of beer a day at his peak, drinking up to 50 on his good days.

Werbeniuk’s 25-stone bulk, and his intake of alcohol, became – unfairly – his most prominent characteristics in the minds of the public. But those were, by any standards, extraordinary – although not solely through adherence to the game’s dissolute image. Werbeniuk suffered from an hereditary nervous disease (or so he and his doctors claimed) which caused his hands to shake. The only solution which allowed him to participate in his trade was drink.

Werbeniuk would have outclassed any amateur drinker, however. “I’d down six to eight pints of lager before I started,” he said. “Then I’d have one pint a frame. Obviously, over the longer matches I’d get through quite a lot of lager but I managed to burn off alcohol very quickly.” In one match, against the British player Nigel Bond, in January 1990, Werbeniuk downed 28 pints of lager and 16 whiskies over the course of 11 frames. (Bond won 10-1.)

Playing in Australia, he and the English player John Spencer took the prize money from all the other competitors at £10 a point after the tournament. “Then we carried on from noon until 7am.” Werbeniuk drank 76 cans of lager during the game.

Unfortunately, Big Bill died in 2003 at the age of 54, but his drinking game will live on as a legend.
