Bohemian Rhapsody
You know that epic scene in Wayne’s World when Garth and Wayne, and the rest of their burnt out friends rock out to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” while driving around aimlessly? And how for the last ten years, you’ve been trying to emulate that exact scene while driving around with your friends? Is that just us?

Well either way, these three hot girls did just that while grabbing their boobs. So, that’s awesome. Check it out below – we wish we were in that car.

Honduras Lost Cities Found by Archeologists

Honduras
An archeological team co-coordinated by film-makers Bill Benenson and Steve Elkins, Honduras and National Geographic, have found two lost cities located in the jungle of Honduras that have been untouched by humans for over 600 years. Evidence of pyramids, plazas, and artifacts have emerged.

Chris Fisher, the lead US archaeologist on the team, tells the Guardian, “Even the animals acted as if they’ve never seen people… Spider monkeys are all over [the] place, and they’d follow us around and throw food at us and hoot and holler and do their thing… To be treated not as a predator but as another primate in their space was for me the most amazing thing about this whole trip.”

The team found the location through surveying technology. The Guardian explains:

In the rainforest valley, they said they found stone structural foundations of two cities that mirrored people’s thinking of the Maya region, though these were not Mayan people. The area dates between 1000AD and 1400AD, and while very little is known without excavation of the site and surrounding region, Fisher said it was likely that European diseases had at least in part contributed to the culture’s disappearance.

The expedition also found and documented 52 artifacts that Virgilio Paredes, head of Honduras’s national anthropology and history institute, said indicated a [civilization]  distinct from the Mayans. Those artifacts included a bowl with an intricate carvings and semi-buried stone sculptures, including several that merged human and animal characteristics.

The cache of artifacts – “very beautiful, very fantastic,” in Fisher’s words – may have been a burial offering, he said, noting the effigies of spirit animals such as vultures and serpents.

Sweet. If you’re looking to escape your current living situation, don’t forget to add these two mystery cities to your viable options list.

Chappie: Must Read Critic Reviews And More

chappie movie hugh jackman dev patel

Before heading to the movies tonight, we thought we’d help you make your decision of what to watch a little easier. From Neill Blomkamp, the director of “Elysium” and “District 9” comes another Sci-fi action movie that questions the role of robots in a future society. Read below to see what critics are saying about Neill Blomkamps latest Sci-fi movie before heading out tonight.

Chappie Reviews

The New York Times: Good character development captures your attention during entire movie.

“Even at his shakiest, Mr. Blomkamp holds your attention with stories about characters banding together to emerge from a hell not of their own making, a liberation journey that just isn’t the same old, same old when a director was born in South Africa. ” [source]

Rolling Stones: Thinks it’s played out.

“Blomkamp and his wife and co-writer, Terri Tatchell, stack the deck. Instead of awe, we get E.T.-aww.” [source]

NYDailyNews: More sensitive viewers should expect a migrane.

” ‘Chappie’ is as subtle as a sledgehammer. The latest sci-fi action spectacle from “District 9” and “Elysium” director Neill Blomkamp is also sprawling, bombastic, deafening, ugly and ultra-violent. Adolescent males and video gamers who get off on massive explosions and urban mayhem may think that sounds like bliss. More sensitive viewers should expect a migraine.” [source]

TimeOut London: Its adorable, sympathetic and even relatable, a lost soul in a harsh world.

“The plot is threadbare, the nods to ‘RoboCop’ are laid on thick and it’s hard to overlook the fact that Blomkamp has made another Jo’burg-based movie strangely lacking in black characters. But with its stunning urban landscapes, trash-talking titanium hero and mulleted, God-bothering bad guy (Hugh Jackman, never better), this hugely entertaining oddity could never be mistaken for the work of any other filmmaker.” [source]

Portland OregonianThis could be the year of robots in movies.

“Blomkamp has just been handed the reins to the next “Alien” film–perhaps Weaver’s appearance here is her stamp of approval. He’s got the visual and technical chops to revitalize the franchise, but to make a truly great movie, he’ll need the human touch that, at least in the world of “Chappie,” only a machine can provide.” [source]

‘Heroes of the Dorm’ Competition Provides Students $450K in Tuition Money

Video Game
If you’re looking for some extra chump cash, look no further: earlier today, Blizzard Entertainment announced their plan for a “Heroes of the Dorm” video game competition, in which students have the opportunity to snag $450,000 in tuition money, or as Blizzard noted, “free tuition for the rest of their college career,” by playing “Heroes of the Storm.”

Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard Entertainment explained in a statement, “College sports do great things for student athletes — they help pay for schooling, build teamwork and communication skills, and create lasting memories… We believe eSports has the same kind of power, and this tournament aims to bring positive experiences like these to college gamers.”

Starting April 11th, ESPN will broadcast the 16 round tournament via its online streaming network, ESPN3. You can register your team here. As for the total package of winnings:

All five members of the first-place team will each enjoy up to $25,000 per year in college tuition for their remaining years of undergrad or graduate enrollment (up to three full years as an undergrad or up to two years as a grad student). Seniors and grad students with no remaining years of enrollment will receive one year’s worth of tuition to help repay student loans (or an equivalent cash prize if the student does not have any remaining student loans).

Sounds like a sweet deal to us.

Rihanna‘s got a lot of things to be thankful for lately. With news of her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown fathering a baby girl with a lady not named Karrueche, and rumors of her and Leonardo Dicaprio being a couple, I’d say she’s having a good week – not that we doubted that for a second.

Anyway, we thought, what better way to start the weekend than by reminding you of how hot she is? Exactly – enjoy yourselves.

Steph Curry to James Harden

It’s pretty much down to Stephen Curry and James Harden as the leading contenders for this years NBA MVP–although we predict that the chances of Russell Westbrook stepping up will greatly increase the moment that we put money down on Steph Curry or James Harden. Also, just look at what happens to the Cavs when LeBron James isn’t around. That guy could still swipe the MVP position out of sheer star power.

Anyway, check out this gif from the NBA All-Star Game to really appreciate why it’s a tough choice between Curry–who’s already the Golden State Warrior’s MVP–and the Houston Rocket’s high-tech weaponry of Harden. This is some serious Harlem Globetrotters s#!t going on here, folks, with Curry handing off to Harden like they’ve been teammates forever, instead of just two guys currently at the top of their singular game. It’s the kind of thing you’ll watch again and again. A baffled Kyrie Irving sure can’t do anything but stare…

Avengers Age of Ultron 3 Trailer

It’s time to round up the hottest trailers of the week–and, yeah, we know that we’ve already written up the new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, but we wanted to revisit it for a very good reason. Also, we’ve covered the complete Furious 7 airplane stunt, but this week still had plenty of new weird trailers from a weird mix of stars. Start catching up as Hollywood gets ready to trot out the hot (or bizarre) properties as we get past the slow start of the year…

Avengers: Age of Ultron (again)

There’s some cool new stuff here, like busy Ultron nanobots and floating Ultron–but we really like the scene that you’re seeing in the pic above, with Thor giving the ultimate “Ultron, WTF?” look. He’s, like, all, “Ultron! WTF!” Thor isn’t even posing it as a question. Also, we like the guy standing behind him, who most likely is thinking, “Man, I’m not getting paid enough to stand around in this suit while Robert Downey, Jr. is kicking back in his trailer.” Anyway, watch it again…

No Escape

A lot of people are going to be pissed off at this movie because it takes an important topic like international turmoil and uses it as an excuse to knock out a version of The Purge, with Owen Wilson having to get his family out of his happy foreign residence that becomes a hellhole after a coup of some kind. We’re pretty sure that Pierce Brosnan plays a retired expatriate who’ll turn out to really be with the CIA. Can you name the movie where Jonathan Winters had the same role? Probably not…

The Forger

We’d say that this is John Travolta heading into further weird Nic Cage territory, but he’s actually kind of dull in this trailer for yet another heist film about a guy being called out for one last job where there’s a young felon and a wise mentor. You can’t ignore Travolta after that Oscars weirdness, though…

Dark Places

Charlize Theron stars in this adaptation of a novel by the gal who wrote Gone Girl, and it sure snuck up on us. This doesn’t exactly look like the softcore erotic thriller that we’ve been wanting from Charlize, but it looks like she’s having a good genre year between this and Mad Max: Fury Road. Also, this is an international trailer, so you get classy subtitles…

Self/Less

The latest movie from director Tarsem Singh looks to be an unofficial remake of a really cool film from 1966 called Seconds. Sadly, this film doesn’t even seem to any of the overblown imagery that usually makes Singh worth watching even when he’s ultimately churning out crap like The Cell. Instead, it’s just Ryan Reynolds becoming a new body for aging businessman Ben Kingsley, with maybe elements of that bad Robocop remake tossed into the script. You don’t even get the self-referential weirdness of a leading man like Rock Hudson in Seconds. Everybody knows Ryan Reynolds is heterosexual. He keeps marrying our girlfriends…

Mads Rafferty

It’s another long icy week where the daily COED Instagram feed had to keep us warm–which wasn’t difficult, with bathing beauties like awesome Aussie model Mads Rafferty baring her bod in warmer climes. Jocelyn Chew, Yael Plaza, Lucinda Aragon, and Danielle Knudson were just a few more of the bikin’d babes who reminded us that things were plenty hot elsewhere in the world.

Leanna Bartlett was busy warming up a car show in Los Angeles, while fitness model Hope Beel was busy burning calories in some very tight gym wear. Sports Illustrated model Charlotte Mckinney popped up in some lingerie for a black-and-white study that we’re going to study very intently, while Sara Jean Underwood didn’t bother with clothes at all. And those are just some of the plentiful internet pals who made this a very heated week…

Tom Hanks Carly Rae Jepsen Video

Tom Hanks stars in Carly Rae Jepsen’s new video for “I Really Like You,” and all we can figure is that Carly Rae Jepsen is a much bigger star than we thought. Nothing wrong with that, though. “Call Me Maybe” was one of the catchiest pop songs of recent vintage, and “I Really Like You” is just as fun and earnest–even without movie star Tom Hanks lip-syncing the vast majority of the song in the new video.

Given that Hanks wrote and directed That Thing You Do, we always kind of expected to see him guesting in a music video for some pure power-pop act. That would make sense. Carly Rae is a lot less expected, but Hanks sure seems to be having a great time while playing himself being everyone’s favorite movie star while on his way to shoot a dance sequence of Carly Rae Jepsen. Don’t make fun of that. It’s obviously based on real life.

We’re not sure how rap icon Chet Haze feels about all this, but we’re sure happy to see Carly Rae getting some famous fans jumping in to keep her career going. Take a look and have a sunshine-pop Saturday…

Daylight Saving Time March 8 2 am 2015

So it’s Daylight Saving Time tonight, which is technically taking place on March 8, 2015, because you’re supposed to wait until 2 am to turn the clocks forward. Yeah, we’re Springing forward, folks. The good news is that means we’re getting closer to being freed from the big ice cube that’s currently taking over New York City. The bad news is that no bartender is going to announce that you can drink for an extra hour because the 2 am closing time has just been pushed back for the usual mysterious reasons that still make no sense to us.  [photo by Joe Raedle/Getty]

Yeah, it seems damn arbitrary. We can’t even be sure if we’re switching to or from Daylight Saving Time–but we are sure that it’s “Daylight Saving Time.” Spare us your unnecessary pluralization or possessives, people. Just concentrate on moving your clocks forward by an hour before you go out and get drunk. Otherwise, you’ll forget and look stupid when you regain consciousness, and maybe miss The Walking Dead because the show is ending as you turn on the television to watch the show.

And here’s Daniel Tosh talking about how Daylight Saving Time is stupid, and you’ll agree if you get home and have to try to move the clocks ahead exactly one hour while you’re drunk and sleepy, and maybe even have a gal waiting patiently for you. Actually, that’s when it’s okay to go on to bed and don’t worry about missing The Walking Dead. Now enjoy Daniel Tosh, who uses some NSFW words, but is other perfectly safe…

Cammock had been studying public health at the college’sDavid B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. The college’s head coach Chris Fox made a public statement that “Sabrina was a wonderful and remarkable person and student athlete,” while the following email was sent to Syracuse students by Senior Vice President Rebecca Reed Kantrowitz, stating, “We know those in Falk College and athletics are especially affected, and our thoughts are with the students, teammates, faculty and staff who are part of these communities.”

A cause of death has yet to be determined, but a police report has already cleared any signs of drug use. Here’s some local news coverage out of NYC…

SNL Highlight: Chris Hemsworth Joins the Cast of ‘Empire’ [VIDEO]

Saturday Night Live Empire Parody SNL Video

Chris Hemsworth hosted Saturday Night Live last night, and the biggest star was the chicken in the “Spaceship” sketch. In fact, the biggest risk that SNL has taken all year was writing a sketch built around having a live chicken on the stage. Too bad it wasn’t particularly funny.

But everyone’s rightfully impressed by the show’s fake Empire promo. For one thing, Lorne Michaels is probably really happy that he got pressured into hiring some black cast members. Also, the writers wisely went with making a fake Empire promo that could move fast, instead of an awkward long sketch. The big joke here is Chris Hemsworth as new employee Chip. That’s the same gag that Undercover Brother used with Neil Patrick Harris as token white guy Lance, but nobody expects SNL to throw out a joke that’s been done before.

This is still lots of fun. Keenan Thompson looks a lot like Terrence Howard, too. Take a look at the clear highlight of another fairly dull SNL…

But, yeah, here’s that sketch with the chicken. You should check out the chicken….

WATCH: Cal Poly Students Injured in Roof Collapse During St. Fratty’s Party [VIDEO]

CalPoly State University St. Fratty's Day Party

Cal Poly’s big St. Fratty’s Party got grim quick when at least eight people were injured while on top of a garage roof that collapsed from the weight of the celebrating crowd. The good news is that there were no serious injuries–although one person had a thigh impaled on a piece of debris, which isn’t going to be the kind of thing that you can just walk off like a hangover.

The main thing to take away from this is that garage roofs are seemingly not nearly as solid as house roofs, because a lot of the California Polytechnic State University students managed to gather on those without any injury. Check out this video, and that’s going to seem like a real St. Fratty’s miracle right there. We’d have probably gone over to the garage roof as a safe alternative.

Anyway, the video is kind of a Cloverfield thing where everything seems okay, and then something horrible happens right when the camera gets to the roof collapsing, so you’re not sure if it was a monster knocking the thing down, or something more natural. Looks like this was a natural enough event for a Cal Poly St. Fratty’s Day Party…

Hoboken Leprocon St. Patty's Bar Crawl

Hoboken, New Jersey was taken over yesterday for the St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl–and the annual party has a lot of bars to cover, since Hoboken is one of the drinkiest very small cities around. This is the fourth year that Hoboken decided to make things official with the Lepre-Con, but don’t feel bad if you missed out. The truth is that the first two weekends of every March are pretty much unofficial St. Patrick’s Day.

Yesterday was still very special, though. Biggie’s Clam Bar managed to become the must-drink destination by having a leprechaun pouring drinks from the bar, but even drinking establishment was a real spectacle. We’ve captured many of the amazing moments provided via Instagram, from beautiful babes to smart fashion statements to drunken debauchery.

Well, except for a couple of shots of beautiful babes being really inappropriate. Let’s just say that some Hobokenites are lucky that they only woke up to pools of green vomit outside their doorsteps this morning. Anyway, check out the action, and don’t forget that there’s still another Hoboken weekend before St. Patrick’s Day…

Stephen Curry three-pointer

We started the weekend pondering the beauty of Stephen Curry and James Harden being in a dead heat for NBA MVP, since both of the stars are currently at the top of the game–as we illustrated with a look back at this year’s All-Star Game. Now we’re wrapping up the weekend with really good odds that Stephen Curry nailed himself the MVP title with an incredible play when he went up against the Golden State Warriors earlier today.

We know there were other players for the Warriors as the team scored a 106-98 home win over the Los Angeles Clippers, but Stephen Curry sure seemed like a one-man show as he worked his way through four defenders with a dazzling display of dribbling before casually landing a step-back three-pointer. It didn’t matter what team you’d betted excessively on was your favorite. Everybody in that place was cheering what might very well remain the best NBA moves that they’ll ever see during a game.

Seriously, even Coach Kerr couldn’t figure out what his star player had just pulled off…

OU SAE Fraternity Shut Down After N-Word Chant on Bus

unnamed-1
Oklahoma University’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon was officially shut down Sunday night after a video showing fraternity brothers signing a racist chant surfaced on the internet.

The brothers were allegedly on the way to their formal when the chant broke out on the way to the venue:

Shortly after, SAE released a statement that expressed both shock and horror over the incident, and eventually the fraternity was closed down indefinitely; members were forced to move out yesterday evening. SAE released a lengthy statement profusely apologizing for their OU chapter’s abhorrent behavior:

Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s national headquarters has closed its Oklahoma Kappa chapter at the University of Oklahoma following the discovery of an inappropriate video. In addition, all of the members have been suspended, and those members who are responsible for the incident may have their membership privileges revoked permanently.

We apologize for the unacceptable and racist behavior of the individuals in the video, and we are disgusted that any member would act in such a way. Furthermore, we are embarrassed by this video and offer our empathy not only to anyone outside the organization who is offended but also to our brothers who come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities.

This type of racist behavior will not be tolerated and is not consistent with the values and morals of our fraternity. We have more than 15,000 collegiate members across the nation, and this incident should not reflect on other brothers because this type of hateful action is not what Sigma Alpha Epsilon stands for. This is absolutely not who we are.

We teach our members to serve as role models in their communities and to live up to our creed, “The True Gentleman.” When members fail to do so, we will not hesitate to take corrective actions or to impose sanctions. Any behavior that is not aligned with the conduct we expect is unacceptable. Equally unacceptable is bystander behavior of members who fail to intervene when they witness conduct that deviates from our beliefs.

“I was not only shocked and disappointed but disgusted by the outright display of racism displayed in the video,” said Brad Cohen, the fraternity’s national president. “SAE is a diverse organization, and we have zero tolerance for racism or any bad behavior. When we learned about this incident, I called an immediate board meeting, and we determined with no mental reservation whatsoever that this chapter needed to be closed immediately. I am proud of my fellow board members because we mean what we say.”

Alumni who serve on the chapter’s house corporation board and who serve as advisers are appalled by the video and the song that was sung in it. They do not condone offensive and hateful behavior and will hold accountable the men who participated in the incident.

Although Sigma Alpha Epsilon regrets the closure, we believe members must be held responsible for their actions. We are hopeful that we can re-establish the Oklahoma Kappa chapter at some point in the future with a group of men who exemplify our beliefs and who serve as leaders on campus and in the community.
