lynn burge teacher arrested sex with student

Cooke County Sheriff’s Office

Lynn Burge, a 32-year-old Muenster High school teacher in Texas, was arrested on Thursday, October 18, after she was accused of having sex with two separate students.

According to Burge’s arrest warrant, the 32-year-old Burge allegedly began sending nude photographs of herself to a 16-year-old male student on SnapChat last fall.

The warrant says Burge and the student went “backroading” and drank alcohol together before going back to Burge’s house where she performed oral sex on him before having intercourse, KXII reports. Then, the following March, Bruge allegedly did the same thing with an 18-year-old adult student.

Burge was arrested on Thursday, October 18 and posted $125,000 bond the next day

The Department of Family and Protective services received an anonymous tip about Burge in September. After a month-long investigation, a Texas Ranger held an informal interview with Burge last week at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, where she was a chaperone on a school field trip.

Burge admitted to the Ranger she had sex with the 18-year-old, and to swapping nudes with the 16-year-old. She also confessed to drinking and “backroading” with – then waking up next to – the 16 year old, but told the Ranger she couldn’t remember if they’d had sex.

Burge is just the latest teacher to be charged for inappropriate conduct. Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges. A woman named Kayla Sprinkles was arrested in North Carolina for similar sexual crimes.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

34-year-old Miranda Nicole Pauley was charged with similar crimes, Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student, Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016 and 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship. 27-year-old Brittany Zamora from Arizona was arrested on similar charges. Keri Hoffman, 35, was also arrested for an alleged relationship with a student. Similarly, 29-year-old Tiffany Ranweiler-Oblander and 33-year-old Maren Oates were arrested on similar charges.

More recently, 29-year-old Haylie Smart, 25-year-old Alaina Ferguson, and 32-year-old Laura Bucy were charged with similar crimes.

Amber Alvarez is the current girlfriend of Dallas Mavericks center DeAndre Jordan, who played with the Los Angeles Clippers for his entire NBA career before moving down south to the Lone Star State.

Jordan — who was actually born and raised in Texas and went to Texas A&M — was previously dating Ashley Rose White, who he has a son with.

Alvarez, who is also from the Lone Star State, first began her modeling career when she signed with the Dallas-based Kim Dawson Model Agency. In 2011, Alvarez moved to Los Angeles, California and signed with L.A Models. Jordan and Alvarez reportedly started dating in 2013 before Alvarez announced she was pregnant in 2018.

Jordan attended Texas A&M University before he was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 35th overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. He since blossomed into one of the best centers in the NBA, leading the league in rebounds twice and being named an All-Star in 2017.

Playing alongside Chris Paul and Blake Griffin for a majority of his career, the trio was nicknamed “Lob City” due to their high-flying style of basketball that saw Paul constantly throwing alley-ops — lobs — to Griffin and Jordan.

Given that the majority of his shots are dunks, Jordan currently holds the NBA record for best career field goal percentage at 67.4%.

Pete Davidson’s Jokes About His Break-Up Are Legitimately Hilarious

pete davidson ariana grande breakup stand up jokes

shutterstock

Despite being generally young and seemingly well-liked, Pete Davidson is quite a divisive figure in popular culture. Whether it be his admittedly aggressive sense of humor, his tattoos, or his tabloid-filled relationship with Ariana Grande, there seems to be something about Davidson that rubs people the wrong way.

However, despite how you may feel about him personally, it’s tough to deny that he’s a funny, funny dude. If you disagree, I challenge you to watch this video of Davidson discussing the place where he grew up without cracking a smile:

But over the last six months, Davidson became more well known for his relationship with one of the world’s most famous pop stars than his comedy, as the pair quickly got engaged before he bleached his hair and started getting questionable tattoos.

However, now that his relationship with Grande seems to be unfortunately short-lived, Davidson is returning to what made him such a promising talent in the first place: blunt stand-up comedy.

While co-hosting a benefit for Swing Left with Judd Apatow in Los Angeles, Davidson addressed his relationship and consequent break-up with the “Dangerous Woman” singer and did so with his trademark honesty, via E! News:

“Well, as you could tell, I don’t want to be here. There’s a lot going on,” Davidson told the crowd. “Does anybody have any open rooms? Looking for a roommate?”

“Um, I’ve been covering a bunch of tattoos, that’s fun,” Davidson said. “I’m fuckking 0 for 2 in the tattoo [department]. Yeah, I’m afraid to get my mom tattooed on me, that’s how bad it is.”

“So, obviously you know I, we [Ariana and I] broke up or whatever but when me and her first got engaged we got tattoos,” he later continued. “And it was like in a magazine like, ‘Was Pete Davidson stupid?’ And 93% of it said yes,” Davidson told the audience. “So my boy, he was like, ‘Don’t listen to that s–t man. They’re literally f–king haters.’ And I’m like, yeah, f–k that. I’m not stupid. And the other day we were in my kitchen and he was like, ‘Yo bro. Turns out you were stupid.’”

However, Apatow — an OG of the current Hollywood comedy scene — was quick to praise Davidson for showing up to the event despite his recent public struggles. Davidson, as he does so well, quickly retorted: “Well, you put me on the flyer, I had to. F–k my feelings,” Davidson said.

“I care more about America than your feelings, I do,” Apatow joked. “I care more about America than Pete’s feelings.”

“I feel like I am America,” Davidson said. “I’m a good guy that just keeps getting kicked in the dick. You’re like, ‘Ah, that f–king poor kid. Hope he doesn’t kill himself.’ That’s America.”

Davidson will presumably make his first post-Grande SNL appearance on Saturday, November 4.

Chief Keef Caused A Roof To Collapse At Clemson University

While viral party videos have become a staple of American college culture (some brands have built an entire social media presence on said videos), I truly don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this video out of Clemson University. I don’t know where the phrase “bring the house down” came from, but this just re-defined it.

On Saturday, October 20, Clemson University students were out partying, presumably still drunk from tailgating their football team’s 41-7 domination of 22nd ranked North Carolina State. However, this party would be unlike any party they’ve ever been to before as the floor literally collapsed from underneath them, producing some truly wild scenes.

But what causes a party to get so lit, so crazy, so out of hand that the floor literally collapses? Chief Keef’s 2014 breakout hit “Faneto”, of course.

— Riccasso 🎧🎙🐺 (@_RickTheRuler_) October 21, 2018

In fact, the scene was so wild that it elicited an official response from the university:

Clemson officials were notified early Sunday morning of an incident at the Woodlands Apartments in the City of Clemson.

City police informed Clemson of the incident, and Clemson University EMS and Clemson University Fire coordinated triage and transport of those injured.

— Clemson University (@ClemsonUniv) October 21, 2018

Unfortunately, six people were hospitalized as a result of the incident.

via Fox News:

A school spokesman said six Clemson University students remain hospitalized after they were hurt during a weekend party when the floor collapsed at the clubhouse of an off-campus housing complex. Clemson police said 30 people were hurt early Sunday when the floor gave way during jumping and dancing at The Woodlands of Clemson clubhouse.

The university said 29 of the 30 were Clemson students. Clemson associate vice president Joe Galbraith told news outlets Monday that six were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Clemson planning and code director Todd Steadman said there was an occupancy limit of 135 people for the upstairs portion of the clubhouse that collapsed. He says the school is reviewing security video to determine how many people were on the floor when it failed.

Mr. Keef, whose latest album Mansion Musick is out now, has yet to respond to the video.

San Diego State University Suspends Kappa Alpha After Freshman Injures Himself

San Diego State University placed the Kappa Alpha fraternity on interim suspension after a female freshman student was injured at the fraternity’s house. The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday, October 17 and the university announced the suspension on Friday, October 19.

According to reports from ABC 10, the mother of an unnamed freshman student said that he suffered a concussion, a fractured wrist, sprained ankle, and bruises on his back. Additionally, she said that her son was “blackout” drunk.

However, how the student sustained those injuries is not known at this time.

In a statement, the national Kappa Alpha organization said that they are looking into the incident and “will be glad to report back when there are more facts known.”

“The health and wellbeing of all members of the campus community is of utmost importance to San Diego State University.

The university is investigating the report of an individual who required medical assistance after being present at a fraternity house near the campus. On Friday, October 19, SDSU placed the fraternity on interim suspension. The university has also reached out to the individual involved and the family of that individual to offer support and resources.

As the investigation is ongoing, the University will not make further comments at this time.”

The suspension of Kappa Alpha at San Diego State University is the latest major fraternity or sorority lawsuit, investigation, suspension or closure in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Wake Forest University, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State University, and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who was shut down for hazing and the Lambda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State, West Virginia University, and Penn State University have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

Brittany Renner: Hottest Photos On The Internet

Instagram Photo

Brittany Renner — known as Bundle of Brittany on social media — is an Instagram “model” and influencer that has become one of the most controversial women on the internet due to her outspoken nature and sexual relationships with athletes and celebrities.

On October 10, 2018, Renner released her first book titled “Judge This Cover”, where she detailed her various filings with musicians and athletes.

Here is the official synopsis for “Judge This Cover”, which stirred up controversy within days of being released:

A liberating journey through the life and times of Brittany Renner. This book details the experiences of a woman whom some love and others love to hate. It’s a behind-the-scenes look into her life. Some may categorize and prejudge without knowing her story, but here is her truth. Written in a raw and real voice with wittiness and humor, Brittany allows you to walk a mile in her shoes. Depending on your appetite for truth and reality, this book may make you laugh, cry, cringe, or all of the above. You should never judge a book by its cover.

While no real names are included in the book for legal reasons, internet sleuths have theorized that the seven celebrities Renner slept with are Drake (of course, this MF is everywhere), Lil Uzi Vert, Colin Kaepernick, Chris Brown, Tyga, Trey Songz, and dude named Casey Therriault.

Yes, Renner may be Queen of the Thots, but she’s still definitely worth a follow on Instagram.

Western Kentucky University has suspended the Sigma Chi fraternity due to multiple alcohol-related code of conduct violations. The fraternity has been suspended until March 2019 and has been subsequently moved from Western Kentucky University Homecoming festivities.

According to Charley Pride, the Director of Student Affairs at WKU, Sigma Chi was placed on probation for two separate violations. The first violation was having alcohol in the chapter house and the second violation was hosting a function and providing alcohol to underage guests.

Due to the suspension, Sigma Chi has been removed from Homecoming, cannot have functions and will have no alcohol exemptions for alumni events in Spring 2019.

In addition to the suspension that lasts until March 1, 2019, the fraternity will be in a probation period until May 15, 2019.

via WKU Herald:

Sigma Chi adviser Victor Felts said in an email the Zeta Mu chapter was suspended nationally for violating the alcohol policy. He said once national headquarters found out about the violations, immediate action was taken and they worked with WKU.

Felts said Sigma Chi is suspended until March 1, 2019.

With the suspension, Felts said the fraternity will not be able to hold social events, recruit new members or participate in campus intramural activities. Additionally members of the fraternity will be reviewed on their commitment to upholding fraternity values and adherence to policies.

“The members of the Zeta Mu chapter have a great love for the fraternity and an affection for the values of the fraternity,” Felts said. “It is my hope that, through this suspension and educational programming regarding risk prevention, the members will also gain an appreciation for the policies that are in place to protect them.”

Sigma Chi Zeta Mu president, Nick Shoutla declined to comment.

University Of Utah Student Lauren McCluskey Tragically Shot & Killed

Lauren McCluskey, 21, has been identified as the University of Utah student that was found shot dead in a parked car on the school’s campus.

What Happened?

McCluskey, a senior communication major at the University of Utah who was on the track and field team, was shot and killed by 37-year-old Melvin Rowland, who police say may have been an ex-boyfriend. Rowland died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound later that evening.

According to authorities, Rowland, — who was a registered sex offender and was not a student at the university — had been seen fleeing the Medical Towers dorm around the time of the shooting.

University of Utah Police Services Lt. Brian Wahlin said that authorities chased Rowland to his location, where they found that he had forced entry into a church. Wahlin said that after police cleared the church, they found Rowland deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At this time, police have not announced a motive for the shooting. As a result of McCluskey’s death, classes were canceled at the university on Tuesday, October 23.

In 2004, Rowland was convicted of attempted forcible sex abuse and enticing a minor over the internet.

Who Is Lauren McCluskey?

Lauren McCluskey was a 21-year-old communications major and track athlete who was shot and killed by 37-year-old Melvin Rowland on the night of Monday, October 22.

McCluskey’s family released the following official statement, via Daily Mail:

“It is with deepest sadness that we let you now that our daughter Lauren McCluskey, age 21, was the University of Utah student who was killed last night. Lauren previously dated her killer for about one month. He lied to her about his name, his age, and his criminal history. Lauren was informed by friend about his criminal history, and she ended the relationship with her killer on October 8, 2018,’ the statement said.

“He had borrwed her car, and she requested for the University of Utah police accompany her on October 10, 2018 to get the car back. She blocked his and his friends” phone number and complained to University of Utah police that she was being harassed. Last night a little before 9pm, she was returning to her university apartment from her night class and talking to me on the phone.

“Suddenly I heard her yell, “No, no, no!” I thought she might have been in a car accident. That was the last I heard from her. My husband called 911. I kept the line open and in a few minutes, a young woman picked up the phone and said all of Lauren’s things were on the ground,” the statement added.

“Lauren was a highly regarded member of the university’s track and field team and an outstanding scholar, a senior majoring in communication.”

— Shara Park (@KSLSharaPark) October 23, 2018

University of Utah President Ruth V. Watkins released the following lengthy statement:

To our campus community,

It is with tremendous sadness that I share the news that Lauren McCluskey, an accomplished student athlete who came to the University of Utah from Pullman, Washington, was killed Monday night on our campus.

Lauren was a highly regarded member of the university’s track and field team and an outstanding scholar, a senior majoring in communication.

Several members of our university administration spoke with Lauren’s family last night and I have also reached out to them. Her family is understandably in shock at this news about their daughter. They are heartbroken. We have and continue to offer our full support to them at this terrible time.

We have canceled day and evening classes for Tuesday, Oct. 23, to allow our campus community to grieve the senseless loss of this bright, young woman. We have made our counseling and support services available to students, staff and faculty.

The Associated Students of the University of Utah and our Athletics Department are planning a vigil for Lauren on Wednesday at 5 p.m. on the steps of the Park Building. I will be joining them to pay my respects and offer my support to Lauren’s friends, family and the entire campus community.

The police investigation is still underway, but here is a brief overview of what happened last night. Around 8:20 p.m., university police received a report of a possible abduction in a parking lot outside a residence hall. Police responded and as they searched the area, they discovered Lauren deceased in a parked car near the south tower of the Medical Plaza, a residential hall on campus.

Police issued a secure-in-place order for campus as they searched for a suspect. That order remained in effect until just before midnight, after police determined the suspect had left the area. He was later found deceased at an off-campus location.

I deeply appreciate the quick response by University Police Chief Dale Brophy, the university’s Department of Public Safety, residential housing staff, Athletics Department and other staff who responded last night. I also want to thank the Salt Lake City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies for their excellent help and work.

While classes have been canceled today, campus will remain open. The Counseling Center and other support resources are prepared to aid students, and Human Resources has arranged for the Employee Assistance Program to help with counseling for staff and faculty. We encourage members of our campus community to use these services as needed.

As a campus community, we share grief over this tragic loss of life. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Lauren’s family and friends.

One student is confirmed deceased.

All morning and evening classes are canceled for Tues., 10/23. Campus services & facilities will remain open.

Support services are available for students, faculty and staff.

Melvin Rowland has been identified as the 37-year-old registered sex offender who is the suspected killer of 21-year-old University of Utah student Lauren McCluskey, a communication major and was on the track and field team. McCluskey was found dead in a parked car on Monday, October 22 on the University of Utah campus.

What Happened?

McCluskey, a senior student at the University of Utah, was reportedly shot and killed by 37-year-old Melvin Rowland, who police suggested may have been an ex-boyfriend. He died on Monday, October 23 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Reports from authorities indicate that Rowland — a registered sex offender from Salt Lake City — was seen fleeing the Medical Towers dorm near the time of the shooting. Police say he was not a student at the university.

Additionally, University of Utah Police Services Lt. Brian Wahlin said that authorities chased Rowland to his location, where they found that he had broken into a church. After police cleared the church, they found that Rowland had killed himself.

Police have yet to announce a motive for the shooting.

University of Utah’s Statement on McCluskey’s Death

A vigil for McCluskey was planned for Wednesday, October 24 on the school’s campus.

Undefeated mixed martial arts star Ben Askren could be coming out of retirement. According to reports, the former Bellator and ONE FC welterweight champion is closing in on a deal to make his long-awaited debut in the UFC.

The two-time NCAA wrestling champion said that there is a “98 percent chance” he will be joining the UFC at age 34.

MMA insider Ariel Helwani of ESPN appeared to confirm the news on social media.

“I’m told there has been some promising movement as of late on the Ben Askren to UFC dream but nothing is finalized at this time,” Helwani wrote.

UFC president Dana White previously hinted that Askren was working to join the promotion.

“Ben Askren hit me up a few months ago and said ‘what are the odds that we can talk about me getting into the UFC?’ White said. “And I said we can absolutely talk about it. And we, I had him, I said you need to send me a letter, before I even talk with you or meet with you or do anything, I need a letter saying you’re a free agent and you’re able to whatever. And he’s not a free agent. He’s not a free agent, he’s under contract with One FC and he’s going to have to go fulfill his contract with them before I would even meet with him or talk to him.”

Askren made his professional MMA debut on Feb. 7, 2009 at Headhunter Productions: The Patriot Act where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Josh Flowers. Askren never looked back and has since hauled off 18 victories with one no contest. In his most recent outing on Nov. 24 at ONE Championship 64: Immortal Pursuit, Askren needed less than 60 seconds to dispose of Shinya Aoki via TKO.

It happens to all of us, that time where you are both in different directions, and you can’t move forward unless you aren’t together. Breakups are hard, everyone who has gone through one can agree, breakups suck. And no matter how hard we try, we always manage to try to go back or make a huge mistake that we can never take back. We are here to help you get over your breakup and make sure you stay away from making any mistake. Please, take our advice, it will help you in the long run. Here are the do’s and don’ts to appropriately get over a breakup.

Don’t Keep Their Number

Instagram Photo

You say you may need their number for emergencies, but what type of emergency will you need your ex’s number? You may say you are keeping the number just in case something happens. What could happen where you would call them? They are not your emergency contact. So why are you treating them like they are? Don’t do it, because if you have their number, you are more than likely going to drunk text them and regret it in the morning. Go to your phone and delete their number, you will feel much better when you do.

Do Surround Yourself With Your Friends

There are many perks to being an #SCEFCU member. Have you shared them with your friends and family? You can refer your friends to the credit union you trust by using this link – https://t.co/zk0W2ciphG pic.twitter.com/0Kk5Cvw3rH

This is a time where you are allowed to rely on your friends. You are in a vulnerable state where surrounding yourself with people who care about you and want you to feel better will put you in a better place. Friends are there to find a better part of you and help you fight to get over your breakup. Your friends can show you that you are still cared about in the world, one person can’t ruin your life.

Don’t Stalk Them On Their Social Media

Instagram Photo

We aren’t saying you should delete every part of your ex from your life. Just don’t be that person who goes through their accounts, looking at their status. We all want to do better than our ex, but it shouldn’t be a priority. You don’t need to know if they are hanging with other people, having more fun without you, or having a better life now that you are out of it. It’s going to make you more depressed. Be smart and ignore their social media until you find it healthy to like their posts.

Do Get The Anger Out

Ladies – had a stressful week?! Release the tension at our kickboxing class tonight in Chippenham https://t.co/DavAt1K8gu pic.twitter.com/2TP9rsR2Eb

— Deedigan Martial Arts (@TeamDeediganMA) October 12, 2018

Working out can be a great stress reliever and a great anger diffuser. However, yoga isn’t going to solve your problem. Certain workouts will help you release that anger. Weight lifting, cardio, even kickboxing. Something that requires a lot of movement in your muscles and can let you scream or hit out all your anger. If you do this enough, you may come out looking and feeling better than you did when you first started.

Don’t Start Dating Right Away

agree totally but mine was partly my fault too
should have given it more time maybe…dont know
Feeling crushed but thanking my friends for being here for me
Dont see myself as ever getting better just coping with my loss💔
But my heart shall always be his pic.twitter.com/lHeAzHTwor

🎸VanHalen 5150 Girl🎸 (@GuardMyHeart1) October 21, 2018

This is a big no-no. We know it’s hard, you want to have that person you go to every day. You miss that connection and want it back. However, if you start dating right away, it will distract you from your actual life and getting over your past relationship. The relationship can get caught up in your social life, your work, and your home life. You need a few months of a date free period. It also depends on how long you were in a relationship for. This date free time is your chance to find yourself and get a bit of free time to yourself.

Do Find Yourself In A New Way

You MUST find peace withing yourself.- Marvin Gaye #quotehttps://t.co/SEX40zFWdI pic.twitter.com/7oLiCg6uYt

— Pat Laforet (@hirepatlaforet) October 21, 2018

You must come to your senses and know that you are a better person without someone hurting you. You may not see it right when you break up, but finding yourself during this period will make you happier in the long run. Go do something for yourself that will help you find peace. Whether that’s reading a good book, joining a pickup sports team, even a trip with your friends. Do something that will help you see the good in life and the good in yourself. You will be so much happier when you do.

NYPD Officer Accused Of Shoving Her Underwear In Co-Worker’s Mouth

Sgt. Ann Marie Guerra, the second-in-command at the 72nd Precinct Detectives Squad in New York City, reportedly shoved her underwear in a co-worker’s mouth after he complained about her leaving underwear around the unisex locker room.

Detective Victor Falcon filed a complaint with the NYPD’s Equal Employment Opportunity as a result of the incident.

According to reports, Guerra — a 38-year-old mother of two — yelled “they are f–king clean!” as she shoved her underwear into Falcon’s mouth. The incident reportedly happened on Sunday, October 7.

Additionally, Falcon claimed in the complaint that Guerra allegedly said if a girl didn’t call Falcon back, it is because he “had a little d**k.” Falcon also stated in the official complaint that Guera stated that she “used a dildo on her husband during intercourse.”

The New York Daily News reports that Guerra is the squad room’s second-in-command, which makes her responsible for approving overtime and changing detectives’ shifts.

via New York Daily News:

“She is a piece of work,” one source said. “She is always emasculating men and commenting on the size of their anatomy. She’s a bullying man-hater.”

“In the push for gender equality, she’s made it — just not in a good way,” the source said. A second source said some aspects of the EEO complaint were being disputed.

Guerra wasn’t trying to gag the detective — just rub his nose in it a little, the source said. “She just put it up to his nose,” the source said, chalking up the incident to “exaggerated squad room banter.”

In addition to the alleged panty raid on his face, Falcon claimed Guerra had repeatedly denied his shift-change requests so he could make court custody hearings about his autistic son, sources who have seen the document said. She had also delayed approving his overtime requests, sources said.

A spokesman for the New York Police Department said that the Detective Bureau was investigating “an incident” between the two officers but would not any additional comments.

WATCH: Florida Cop Punching High School Girl During Arrest (Video)

Police punching a 14-year-old girl

Daily Mail TV

A Florida police officer was seen on video punching a 14-year-old girl who resisted arrest on Thursday, October 18, 2018. The video was posted on an Instagram account of a person identified as Victoria Cedeno, “victoria_babyyy,” the day after the arrest and went viral.

Police in Coral Springs, Florida, are defending the officer’s action after he was filmed punching the girl while she was pinned to the ground during an arrest. The Coral Springs Police Department has issued a statement saying the cellphone video doesn’t tell the entire story.

“The officer’s actions were 100 percent within policy, legal and were not excessive,” Dept. Chief Brad McKeone told reporters, according to CBS Miami.

What Happened?

The department said officers were called to the Coral Springs Mall on Thursday because teens were harassing patrons, a mother claimed that one of the teens shoved her 5-year-old child to the ground.

Police banned the group from the mall at the request of its security team, but the teens eventually returned and police were called back again. One male teen was taken into custody without incident, but the female began cursing and attempting to incite the other teens, the Daily Mail reported.

When officers tried to take her into custody, police said she began to fight and resist them.

“Due to her stature and aggressive behavior, officers took her to the ground attempting to get her to release her fists,” the department said in a statement. “As seen in the video she resisted arrest, and in order to have her comply she was struck in the side to release her clenched fists–she was then handcuffed.”

The department said that the teen female “violently kicked” one of the officers while she was being placed in the back of a patrol car.

“Officers attempted to take her into custody, at which time she began to fight and resist arrest. Due to her stature and aggressive behavior, officers took her to the ground attempting to get her to release her fists,” the department said in a statement.

— Coral Springs Police (@CoralSpringsPD) October 19, 2018

“No policy was violated,” Coral Springs Police Officer Tyler Reik told SunSentinel on Monday, October 22. “The officers went through what they are trained to do and to de-escalate the situation. We try verbal compliance first, and obviously that wasn’t working.”

The teen faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, obstructing an officer without violence and trespassing after a warning.

The department said it is important to have all the facts regarding a police response to a call for service involving a violent subject, “regardless of their age or gender.”

Mother Of The Teen Said Police Went “Completely Overboard”

Jessica Dennis, a mother of the female teen, who does not want her daughter to be identified, disagreed with the police.

“I truly believe it was excessive force because my daughter was lying there, she wasn’t resisting at all,” Dennis said in a news conference, CBS reported. “Her hands are pinned up, he’s fishtailing her whole body with her shorts. It was just too much going on and she clearly wasn’t aggressive,”

The 14-year-old, who refused to be pictured on camera, is a high school freshman.
Deputy Chief McKeone told the Daily Mail that the punches were to gain compliance and not out of malice to intentionally harm the girl.

“If he wanted to cause harm to her a punch would have been to the face, a punch would have been done to the back of the head.  It’s not done as a punishment, again, it’s done to get compliance. Once she did that the officer immediately stopped any other form of distraction technique and immediately took her into custody,” McKeone said.

The family’s attorney, Meeghan Moldof, only spoke about the moments captured on video and said she wouldn’t comment on the criminal aspect of the case. “But to say that the police officer was justified to punch her continuously while he has his knee on her back and her hands under her belly, the video speaks for itself.”

Police said they are not investigating the officer’s actions, however, that could change if the mother decides to file a formal complaint.

Netflix Has Been Hiding A Vastly Easier Way To Find Movies

While Netflix is one of the most successful companies in the world, not much is known about their inner workings, as they notoriously do not release their viewership numbers and things of the like.

Another frustrating aspect of Netflix is their vague movie aggregation, as anyone who has ever tried to find a random movie to watch has likely instead defaulted to watching The Office for the fifth time after 25 minutes of unsuccessful browsing.

However, it appears that Netflix has been hiding a far superior way of find movies this entire time: genre pages.

The genre pages are made up of ultra-specific categories, such as Meryl Streep movies, zombie movies, Elvis Presley movies, Korean crime thrillers, foreign gay & lesbian movies, independent political dramas, Disney musicals, and dozens more.

And the best part is that these genre-specific pages are relatively easy to access, too. All Netflix users need to do is add the codes to the end of the website URL search page to access various genres and sub-genres.

Users will need to type in the URL http://www.netflix.com/WiAltGenre?agid=GENRECODE and then insert the desired genre code in place of ‘GENRECODE’.

You can find the full list of Netflix genre codes here.
