Mac Miller dropped his newest album Swimming on Friday, August 3rd, 2018. The Pittsburgh-born rapper announced on June 12th that his album would be dropping through a Youtube clip. The clip is only 30 seconds long but it gives his fans a preview of an upcoming song from the album called “LP”. Following a DUI arrest back in May, Miller gave his fans three songs from the album to listen too. The songs he released early were “Programs”, “Small Worlds”, and “Buttons”.

This will be Miller’s first album release since he released The Divine Feminine in 2016. In early 2010, Miller signed his first record label with his hometown-based indie record label, Rostrum Records. His first album Blue Slide Park in 2011 became the #1 album on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. Miller launched his own record label imprint, REMember Music, in early 2013, which helped lead him to release his second album, Watching Movies With The Sound Off. After releasing his second album in 2013, Miller signed a record deal for him and his label with Warner Bros. Records, who he is still partnered with today.

In 2015, Miller released his third studio album, GO:OD AM. “100 Grandkids” and “Weekend” were the two lead singles from this album that many of Mac’s fans enjoyed. It debuted at #4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and sold 73,000 copies in the first week. That was the third-highest selling album during its debut week. As mentioned above, The Divine Feminine, was Miller’s most recent studio album, which was the fourth of his career. Miller is releasing his fifth studio album and his fans are excited to finally hear some new music from Miller.

Nate Diaz is finally set to make his return to the Octagon. According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, Diaz will be competing in the co-main event of UFC 230 which takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The opponent? The always exciting Dustin Poirier who has won eight of his last nine bouts, so you can expect plenty of fireworks in the world’s most famous arena.

The bout is expected to officially be announced during a Friday press conference in Los Angeles ahead of this weekend’s UFC 227 pay-per-view.

The bout marks the first fight for Diaz in the UFC since Aug. 2016 when he suffered a majority decision loss to Conor McGregor in a Fight of the Night Performance. The fight with McGregor was a rematch of their March 2016 meeting where Diaz scored a stunning second-round submission victory over the Irishman in a Performance of the Night, Fight of the Night, and Submission of the Year effort.

Poirier, meanwhile, is fresh off of a TKO victory over Eddie Alvarez on July 28. Poirier has only lost once since April 2015 and has recorded six knockout finishes over his list of star-studded opponents which includes Alvarez, Justin Gaethje, and Anthony Pettis. Poirier received $50,000 fight night bonuses in each of his last four wins.

A main event has yet to be announced for UFC 230, but we can expect an update in the coming weeks.

If you’re like me — and apparently, Leslie Jones — then you’ve been essentially playing Avengers: Infinity War on a loop since it was released earlier this week.

A living, breathing comic book come to life, Avengers: Infinity War is everything that a comic book film should be and was WELL worth that decade it took to make. Despite how excellent Marvel movies have been since 2008’s Iron Man, Avengers: Infinity War is the best of them and it’s not even close.

And if Leslie Jones’ tweets are to be taken at face value, she seems to agree.

Watching Avengers: Infinity War for the first time, Jones — of SNL and Ghostbusters fame — live-tweeted the action from beginning to end, and BOY what a ride it is.

It starts off with Jones warning her followers that A) this is gonna take a couple of days and B) spoiler alerts to come:

Sarah Jeong, a writer for the New York Times, has come under fire after some unsavory tweets from her past have come to light. The tweets feature numerous messages slamming “white people” and “white men,” with Jeong voicing her frustrations in a way that many are calling racist and sexist. Despite the negative attention her tweets have generated, the New York Times continues to stand by her.

The New York Times issued a statement voicing their support of Jeong. The statement read, “We hired Sarah Jeong because of the exceptional work she has done covering the internet and technology at a range of respected publications.

“Her journalism and the fact that she is a young Asian woman have made her a subject of frequent online harassment. For a period of time she responded to that harassment by imitating the rhetoric of her harassers. She sees now that this approach only served to feed the vitriol that we too often see on social media. She regrets it, and The Times does not condone it.

“We had candid conversations with Sarah as part of our thorough vetting process, which included a review of her social media history. She understands that this type of rhetoric is not acceptable at The Times and we are confident that she will be an important voice for the editorial board moving forward.”

Jeong has apologized for her tweets, saying that she was responding to Twitter trolls.

“As a woman of color on the internet, I have faced torrents of online hate, often along this vein,” she said.

“I engaged in what I thought of at the time of counter-trolling. While it was intended as satire, I deeply regret that I mimicked the language of my harassers. These comments were not aimed at a general audience, because general audiences do not engage in harassment campaigns. I can understand how hurtful these posts are out of context, and would not do it again.”

Despite the apology, there are still people online calling for her firing. We will have to see whether Jeong is able to weather the storm or whether the New York Times will ultimately pull the plug on her hiring.

Police

Kayla Safford, a 24-year-old former substitute teacher in Alabama, has been indicted on charges of having sex with a high school student. Safford was reportedly booked in the Lauderdale County jail on Wednesday, August 1, and has since posted bond.

In an official statement, Police Captain Brad Holmes said that Safford is accused of having sex with an 18-year-old Florence High School student off-campus.

Furthermore, Captain Holmes says evidence shows the relationship happened because of her employment with the school system.

Police say that the investigation started in March 2018.

Safford was working as a contract substitute teacher at the time of the offense and evidence obtained in the investigation shows that the relationship with the student occurred as a result of her employment in the school system, according to police.

Superintendent Jimmy Shaw said Safford was fired as soon as the allegations came to light in April.

Authorities also say that the school system was made aware of the allegations early on in the investigation. They have also confirmed that the student was an 18-year-old male.

Shaw said Safford was hired through a company called Kelly Educational Staffing Services. He said the school district takes student safety seriously. He said Kelly Educational Services requires all contracted employees have an Alabama substitute license, a reference screening and background check.

Safford is just the latest teacher to be charged for an alleged relationship with a teenager student.  Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges. A woman named Kayla Sprinkles was arrested in North Carolina for similar sexual crimes.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

In addition, 31-year-old Nicole Marie Andrews, 32-year-old Jessica Langford, 29-year-old Andrea Baber, 27-year-old Robin Dunlap, 27-year-old Jennifer Olajire-Aro have also been charged with these charges.

34-year-old Miranda Nicole Pauley was charged with similar crimes, Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student, Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016 and 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship. 27-year-old Brittany Zamora from Arizona was arrested on similar charges. Keri Hoffman, 35, was also arrested for an alleged relationship with a student. More recently, 29-year-old Tiffany Ranweiler-Oblander and 33-year-old Maren Oates were arrested on similar charges.

The Cleveland Browns are set to be featured on the upcoming season of the HBO hit show “Hard Knocks.” The series gives a behind-the-scenes look at teams across the league preparing for the upcoming season, with an all-access look at team meetings, practices, positional battles and everything a football fan could ask for as we wait for the upcoming season.

This year, the Browns will be looking to make some progress after missing the postseason for 15 straight years as they prepare for a new era with No. 1 draft pick Baker Mayfield, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

The team also has some new faces like star wide receiver Jarvis Landry and No. 4 overall pick Denzel Ward of Ohio State, along with veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor who will battle with Mayfield for the starting job after being acquired from the Buffalo Bills during the offseason.

Better Call Saul Season 4

And the danger is more scary and dangerous.” As the previous three seasons have shown us the origin of Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman, this season kicks off after the death of his brother Chuck, the man we met named Jimmy is fading away and the man we know as Saul is taking center stage. Things are about to get… bad.

Jimmy Breaks Bad

This season is poised to be the missing piece before the events of Breaking Bad season one. The development of Jimmy/Saul will be a fascinating transition to witness now that we have seen where he came from… as well as where he winds up at the end of Breaking Bad. This juicy middle piece is going to spill into season five as well. The aftermath of the death of his brother Chuck will be a huge catalyst towards his transformation. As for his relationship with Kim, hopefully, that won’t be something as easily broken.

Mike Ehrmantraut & Gus Fring

Gus is coming into power and Walter White is not here to be the one who knocks just quite yet. The development of Mike and Gus’ relationship along with how they involve Jimmy in the mix is going to be television gold. We know what happens to these characters after Walter White is done with them, but damn is it going to be a great ride to watch them on top of the game for a while!? The intricacies of meth distribution (and the need for having a lawyer) are sure to play a big part in Jimmy’s role as he makes these new darker alliances now that his familial relations have all dissolved before his eyes. He’s a man who needs a purpose, regardless if that purpose is good or bad.

Are you looking forward to Better Call Saul moving closer to Breaking Bad territory? Is Jimmy capable of being redeemed? What happens to Kim once Saul Goodman is unleashed? There are so many questions begging to be answered this season and I for one cannot wait to see how the show manages to fold itself into its predecessor.

Polyana Viana is one of the most promising up-and-coming strawweights on the UFC roster, holding a professional record of 10-1 and currently riding a six-fight winning streak with all six wins coming by way of first-round stoppage — five submissions, one knockout. The 26-year-old from São Geraldo do Araguaia, Para Brazil made her UFC debut in February 2018, scoring a rear-naked choke finish of Maia Kahaunaele-Stevenson.

While Viana has shown plenty of promise, she is still young in her mixed martial arts career.  “Dama de Ferro,” which translates to “The Iron Lady,” has only been training for five years.

“I started training in 2013 because my friends,” she said in her official UFC bio.

“I have been an eight-time state champion of jiu-jitsu in the state of Pará, Brazil, seven-time state champion of jiu-jitsu in the state of Maranhão, Brazil, five-time state champion of jiu-jitsu in the state of Tocantins, Brazil, one-time state champion of jiu-jitsu in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, World champion of jiu-jitsu in 2015, and champion of Jungle Fight.”

It was just a year ago around this time that Tar Heels fans were talking about making a BCS run. Those hopes and dream were destroyed in the first couple weeks of the season as UNC lost its entire offensive line to injury along with players in every level of the defense. Pair that along with inconsistent play from quarterbacks Chazz Surratt and Nathan Elliot and you get a three-win season. Head coach Larry Fedora knows injuries are not excuses and believes that his fill-in players have matured and grown, and even thinks his team could make a big come back in 2018. We think otherwise.

2018-2019 Summary

In a season that was derailed by a youth movement and a record-approaching amount of injuries, head coach Larry Fedora’s Tar Heels will look to get back on the map after just a three-win season a year. Question marks still remain over who will be the starting quarterback, however, the offensive will be a bright side in 2018 thanks to stud wide receiver Anthony Ratliff-Williams, who looks to be an All-American and an explosive group of running backs. The defensive issues will remain as there are question marks at every level thanks to injuries from a season ago. The weak ACC gives them the opportunity to bounce back in a big way as most of their conference games are winnable. However, UNC is still very young, and poor offensive line play will likely lead to another sub-five-win season.

College football is almost upon us, and it’s going to be an incredible year. As we all know, every game can have massive implications for the playoffs. Some of these games are built up during the year, as an emerging powerhouse takes on the conference juggernaut. But others, you know are going to be a massive game, like the Iron Bowl. Let’s take a look at the top five must-watch games of the 2018 season.

Washington vs. Auburn (Chick Fil A Kick Off Game)

Right off the bat in Week One, Washington faces the biggest challenge of their season. Not only do they get a top 10 team in Auburn, but they have to go into the heart of SEC country in Georgia. Washington was a playoff team two years ago and was ravaged by injuries last season or else they might have gone back last season.

Washington and the rest of the Pac 12 have been faced with questions about the strength of the conference, and this will be a huge test for the conference as a whole. A win for Washington could vault them into the top three, and a loss might force them to win out for even a shot at the playoffs.

Michigan @ Ohio State

Both teams come into the season ranked inside the top 15. Ohio State is third and Michigan is 15^th. Expect them both to be top 10 teams by the end of the season, and for the winner of this game to play for the Big 10 championship.

Super prospects will wreak havoc on opposing offensive lines, as OSU’s Nick Bosa and Michigan’s Rashan Gary are both likely top 10 picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. Not only will the winner of this game most likely end up in the Big 10 championship game, but likely the College Football Playoff as well.

Florida Atlantic @ UCF

The self-proclaimed national champions against Lane Kiffin’s Division I Last Chance U. Kiffin led the Owls to 10 wins last season, and this will be the biggest non Power 5 game of the season. The winner of this game will in all likelihood be the representative in one of the New Year’s Six bowl games. We saw what UCF can do last year, led by star quarterback Mckenzie Milton. This is sure to be a thriller on a Friday night that everyone can enjoy.

Georgia vs. Auburn

Auburn has to go into Athens, against a Georgia team that will likely be in the playoff race once again. It’s pretty simple for Georgia, win this and they probably win the SEC West. Lose, and while they still might win the West, it would be an uphill climb to get to the playoff. For Auburn, this could be the defining moment of their season. If they have even one last up to this point, this could be the game that defines what bowl game they qualify for.

Clemson @ Florida State

With Deandre Francois healthy again, the Seminoles should be a contender for the ACC title, but they’re going to have to go through the powerhouse Clemson. Luckily, they get a shot to do it on their home field. Clemson is coming into the year stacked once again, led by a fierce defensive line. Will the Florida State offense, led by Cam Akers and Francois be enough for the first-year coach to lead FSU to an ACC title and a shot at the national championship?

Approximately 100 goats were on the loose this morning in Boise, Idaho.

According to KTVB’s Joe Parris, while no one originally knew where the goats came from, they were eventually cornered and loaded back into a truck owned by a company called “We Rent Goats”.

And yes, We Rent Goats is a very real company that does exactly what their name says — rent goats.

The Video Music Awards (VMA’s) always put on some dynamite live performances, and this year is certainly no different.  Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, and Logic with Ryan Tedder are all slated to put on a hell of a show.

Ariana Grande, who is nominated for five trophies, including best pop video and video of the year, will be performing from her latest album, Sweetener (release date August 17th), the single “God Is A Woman.” Shawn Mendes earned himself 3 VMA nominations for best pop video, best direction, and best cinematography and will deliver, “In My Blood.” And for the first time ever on live TV, Logic, who Logic has garnered two nominations for Song of the Year and Best Video with a Message for “1-800-273-8255,” featuring Alessia Cara & Khalid, will join forces with mega-producer Tedder from One Republic and perform “One Day”.

Jennifer Lopez will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and will be performing as well.

Ariana Grande

Pop superstar Ariana Grande has been announced to be one of the headliners for this year’s awards show. You can check out her latest hit “God is a woman” below.

Joseph Ems Jr, a former fraternity member at Penn State’s Beta Theta Pi who was charged in the hazing death of Timothy Piazza, will enter a guilty plea.

The 22-year-old is facing one count of hazing and one count of unlawful acts relative to liquor, malt and brewed beverages and licenses bound over, as previously reported by the Collegia

Ems Jr’s plea just days after Ryan Burke, another former Beta Theta Pi fraternity to plead guilty, was sentenced to three months of house arrest and 27 months of probation.

Since Piazza’s death in February 2017, more than 20 people have been charged.

The 22-year-old from Philadelphia was bound over for trial on one misdemeanor count of hazing and one misdemeanor count of furnishing liquor. District Judge Steven Lachman dismissed one misdemeanor count of furnishing alcohol to a minor in May.

The two charges bound over, however, are not related to Ems’ conduct toward Piazza. They are related to Ems’ conduct toward pledge Thaddeus Lorenz, according to another court document.

Jay Abom, of the firm Abom and Kutulakis, which represents Ems, declined to comment Wednesday. Tom Kline, attorney for the Piazza family, did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Piazza passed away on February 4, 2017, after suffering a fractured skull and severe abdominal injuries from a fall during pledge night activities at the Beta Theta Pi house at Penn State. During the night, Piazza’s blood-alcohol level went “from a zero to as high as a .36”

Piazza’s death spurred a cascade of changes in the Penn State Greek life community and across the country. The school levied hard sanctions against greek life focused on hazing. These changes altered the rules for how fraternities and sororities can recruit members and host social events with alcohol. Beta Theta Pi was also permanently banned from Penn State.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is in Los Angeles this weekend for UFC 227: Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt 2. While Saturday’s pay-per-view is the main attraction of the promotion’s trip to the west coast, fight fans will have the opportunity to see some of the brightest stars in mixed martial arts take the stage at The Orpheum Theater for a special 25th anniversary press conference.

At the press conference, a number of high-profile stars are expected to attend as the UFC prepares for the final quarter of the year.

The main eventers and co-main event participants will take questions from the fans and media, with some new fights set to be announced. Ahead of the press conference, one fight that was already leaked is a lightweight firefight between fan-favorites Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier which will take place at UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. There is no word on what other fights will be announced.

UFC officials have said “more than a dozen fighters” will be in attendance for the press conference, though there has been no confirmed word on the list of which fighters those will be. It is believed, however, that among the participants will be welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and challenger Darren Till, who are set to headline UFC 228 on Sept. 8 in Dallas.

I may be one day late since IPA Day is on the first Thursday of August each year, but everyone should celebrate this “holiday” every day!

There are many sayings like, “Fridays are for bar days” or “Beer me,” but IPA Day should be a weekend-long celebration! It should not just be celebrated for 24 hours or on a Thursday, seriously.

So what is an IPA? It is a beer known as India Pale Ale Beer. India pale ale (IPA) is a hoppy beer style within the broader category of pale ale. It has also been referred to as pale ale as prepared for India, India ale, pale India ale, or pale export India ale.

The term pale ale originally denoted an ale that had been brewed from pale malt. Among the first brewers known to export beer to India was George Hodgson’s Bow Brewery, on the Middlesex-Essex border. Bow Brewery beers became popular among East India Company traders in the late 18th century because of the brewery’s location near the East India Docks. Demand for the export style of pale ale, which had become known as India pale ale, developed in England around 1840 and it later became a popular product there. IPAs have a long history in Canada and the United States, and many breweries there produce a version of the style.

So, National IPA day celebrates the first Thursday of every August. To many beer lovers, an IPA is one of the world’s most popular types of craft beer.

The UFC returns to California on Saturday, Aug. 4 for UFC 227: Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt 2 live on pay-per-view. The event — which takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles — is headlined by a championship double-header. In the main event, bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw defends his title against arch rival and former teammate Cody Garbrandt, who he knocked out last year at Madison Square Garden to claim the championship. The two previously trained together at Team Alpha Male in California, before Dillashaw left to join Duane Ludwig in Colorado.

The co-main event features the latest title defense from pound-for-pound great Demetrious Johnson, who will defend his flyweight belt against former Olympic medalist Henry Cejudo.

Other bouts on the main card include Cub Swanson vs. Renato Moicano, J.J. Aldrich vs. Polyana Viana, and Kevin Holland vs. Thiago “Marreta” Santos. The featured preliminary bout on FX that leads into the pay-per-view will be between Brett Johns and Pedro Munhoz.

Before the bouts could become official, however, all fighters had to step onto the scale at the fighter hotel to hit their marks ahead of the ceremonial weigh-ins later in the day at Bell The Orpheum Theatre beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET.
