Jay Rock released his newest album Redemption on Friday, June 15th, 2018. This will be the California rappers third studio album of his career. Rock announced on May 21st, 2018 on his Instagram and Twitter that his new album was dropping. The 33-year old has not released a new album since 2015 when he dropped, 90059, but we have the scoop on how to stream and download his newest album.

The 13-track album will include features from Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Future, J.Cole, and Jeremiah. Rock released three songs from this album in order to give his fans a preview of what t expect. The song released before the album was dropped was “Win”, “The Bloodiest”, and “King’s Dead,” the latter which was featured on the Black Panther soundtrack.

Rock’s last album, 90059, reached the top of the charts as the Top Rap Album in the United States the first week it was released. It ended the year ranked #10 on the list of Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums of 2015. Some of the noteworthy songs on the 11 song album were “Money Tree Deuces”, “Gumbo”, and the title-track “90059”.

Mike Shinoda released his second solo album on Friday, June 15th, 2018. Shinoda released a three-track EP in January of 2018 that directly related to his feelings on the death of his close friend and band member, Chester Bennington. Bennington and Shinoda have been members of the band Linkin Park since 1999 until Bennington’s suicide in July of 2017. In March of 2018, Shinoda surprised many when he announced he was working on his first solo album. The album was announced to contain the three songs on the EP and the two would share the name Post Traumatic. 

Shinoda had previously released a solo album in 2005 under the name Fort Minor. However, due to the close personal connection with his latest album, Shinoda decided to move from the Fort Minor pseudonym and release it under his real name.

Shinoda has had eight songs reach the top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100, seven as a member of Link Park and one as Fort Minor. The Post Traumatic EP received an “A+” from AltWire.

Post Traumatic features 16 tracks, including the three previously released on the EP of the same name. Shinoda wrote 12 of the tracks himself and collaborated on the other four. The album also features musical collaborations from the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Chino Moreno and Blackbear.

Jenny Taft is a familiar face to sports fans, but now she is set to get some international exposure as part of FOX Sports’ coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Taft is one of the reporters on the scene for the network’s coverage along with Rachel Bonnetta, Sergey Gordeev, Maria Komandnaya, Rodolfo Landeros, and Geoff Shreeves.

Taft graduated from Bostin University with a degree in broadcast journalism. She was also a member of the university’s women’s lacrosse team. Taft then began working for FOX Sports North in her hometown of Minneapolis. Eventually, Taft began climbing up the ranks at FOX Sports 1 beginning in 2013 where she served as an update anchor on the news desk as well as covering events like Supercross, the NHL, Stanley Cup Playoffs, MLB, and the women’s national team. Taft covered the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship, and now she is ready for the biggest tournament in the world.

Taft also serves as a fill-in co-host on FOX Sports 1’s “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed” and “The Herd,” while serving as a sideline reporter for FOX’s lead college football commentary team of Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt.

Kathryn Novak, a Univesity of Central Florida student from Arizona, filed a federal lawsuit on Thursday, June 14, against her former boyfriend and four of his fraternity brothers. Novak accuses them of sharing a videotape of the couple having sex without her consent.

According to Novak, her former boyfriend, Brandon Simpson, filmed one of their sexual encounters and shared it with his fraternity brothers. She claims that the video was shown at a chapter house meeting and has since been seen by ‘more than 200 people’.

The lawsuit states that five men — all members of Sigma Delta Chi at UCF — shared and viewed nude videos and photos of her without her permission last year. The fraternity itself is also named in the suit.

The defendants are accused of invasion of privacy, infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

The lawsuit says members of the fraternity also posted nude imagery of their “sexual conquests” to the Facebook page — all without the women’s consent. Novak’s attorney, Michael Avenatti — better known as the lawyer for adult film star Stormy Daniels, who claims to have had an affair with President Donald Trump — said in a phone interview from California that there are more victims in the case. “We expect there to be numerous victims at this time — certainly into the double digits,” he said.

The complaint, filed in United States District Court for the the Middle District of Florida in Orlando, states that Novak and Simpson saw each other twice a month. In October of last year, the suit alleges, he recorded video of a sexual encounter with her and quickly distributed it to four fraternity brothers, Jacob Pelkey, Andre Perales, Jonathan Landrum and Matt Farley.

Simpson and the others eventually passed it along to a wider fraternity audience for viewing at chapter meetings, the suit alleges. The video ended up on a “secret” Facebook page they called the Dog Pound, it says, along with erotic pictures of Novak that she had sent to her boyfriend with the understanding that he would not let others see them.

The court filing lists costs and interest in excess of $75,000.

Novak is being represented by Michael Avennatti, the same lawyer that represents Stormy Daniels in her case against President Trump.

Sofia Balbi is the wife of Barcelona and Uruguayan International striker Luis Suarez. The couple got married in 2009. Balbi was born on November 10, 1989, in Montevideo, Uruguay.

According to The Mirror, Suarez was working as a street sweeper when he met Balbi. He was just 15-years-old at the time.

Suarez credits his wife for helping him mature on the pitch, saying that “having a wife that closely watches the game is good.”

“She knows me better than anyone else and I want her observations to help me play better and be a happier person,” Suarez has been quoted as saying.

During his career, Suarez has been one of the deadliest forwards in the world, starring for both club and country at Liverpool, Barcelona, and Uruguay.

Luis Suarez and Sofia Balbi have two children together: Delfina and Benjamin Suarez. One of the most charming things about the couple is how Luis describes Sofia, saying that she “sorted his head out” when they were 15-years-old. From the lower-class streets of Uruguay to becoming one of the best and richest footballers in the world, Luis and Sofia have been together through it all.

At this time of this writing, Sofia has a little over 13,000 followers on Instagram.

The result of Ochoa’s incredible effort was a 0-0 draw for El Tri and Ochoa being named Man of the Match. He later earned Man of the Match honors again in Mexico’s knockout game against The Netherlands.

Andrea Navarro is one of the WAGs of the 2018 FIFA World Cup that you will want to keep an eye out for. Gabriela Garcia is one of the many WAGs you will come to love from the Mexico national soccer team. Garcia, who is married to Jesus “Tecatito” Corona, has been dating the Mexican soccer star since as far back as 2013 when photos of the couple first appeared on social media.

Daniela Basso is one of the most well-known WAGs linked to the Mexico squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The actress, who is known for her roles in La Rosa de Guadalupe and the telenovela Simplemete María, has been a staunch supporter of El Tri and is now the girlfriend of standout striker Raúl Jiménez, who also plays for English club Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan from Benfica.

Jacob deGrom has been the National League’s best pitcher this year not named Max Scherzer. He’s currently 4-2 with a 1.55 ERA and 113 strikeouts over 87.1 innings. The Mets right-hander has missed some time this season due to an elbow injury, but he has been excellent during his time on the mound. There are two questions with deGrom: one is, why isn’t he winning games? And two, is he going to get traded before the trade deadline?

Why Isn’t He Winning?

Since May 2^nd, the Mets have won only one of his starts. In those starts, deGrom only gave up more than one earned run in one start. And in that one start, he gave up two earned runs. But he still can’t win his starts. Why? Because he’s a Met, and this is what happens. He has gotten virtually zero run support from his teammates. deGrom has made seven starts since May 2^nd, and over those seven starts, he has gotten 10 total runs of support from his teammates.

Just to put that into perspective, Red Sox ace Chris Sale is also having trouble getting run support from his teammates. Sale has gotten 22 runs of support over his last seven starts. Offenses tend to look a little lazier sometimes with their ace on the mound because the players know two or three runs should get the job done. But 10 runs over seven starts is abysmal, and no pitcher should have to go through that.

Should the Mets Trade Him?

The back pages of New York newspapers have been going crazy about the idea of potentially deGrom and maybe even Noah Syndergaard being traded to the Yankees. From a business standpoint, the Yankees have the pieces to make the move, and could definitely use another quality starter. The Mets would turn from a bad team into potentially a tire fire like the Marlins, but that might not be the best option for them, no matter how good the prospects are that they can get in return.

Also, the Yankees recently announced that they would not be interested in trading either of their high performing rookies, Miguel Andujar or Gleybar Torres for deGrom. This would definitely make the deal more appealing for the Mets, who could use a young star or two with a lot of team control. The Mets also have the money to make a splash in free agency, so why haven’t they done it yet? deGrom needs support, or the Mets are eventually just going to end up letting him walk. They can’t let that happen, they need to figure out a way to support deGrom and not waste this magical run he’s on.

MLB 2018: AL East & NL East Potential Trade Deadline Moves

FULTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Iris Rowe, an Atlanta police officer, was arrested after police discovered seven pounds of marijuana, prescription pills, guns, ammunition, and $8,000 inside a raid of her apartment on Monday, June 11.

According to police, in addition to the drugs and ammo found in the apartment, additional drugs and guns, including an AR-15, were found in Rowe’s car. Furthermore, Rowe was carrying the gun that had been issued to her by the department at the time of the arrest. Her police uniform, badge, vest, and ID were also found inside the apartment.

Rowe resigned from the Atlanta Police Department on Wednesday, June 13. She faces charges of Rowe faces three drug charges, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of illegal drugs in a drug-free zone.

On Monday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., the College Park Special Operations team raided a unit in the Alexandria Landing apartment complex on Godby Road.

Investigators were looking for suspects Jeremy Laye and Tony Robinson. When they kicked down the door, they found Laye and Robinson and also found Officer Iris Rowe.

“Investigating officers were able to find a large amount of marijuana and an assortment of pills inside of the apartment,” authorities said.

Rowe resigned from her position at the Atlanta Police Department with a written note, calling her acts “shameful”. She had been with the Atlanta Police Department since 2016 and was a mobile patrol officer in the city’s  “Zone 3” for nearly a year.

Police also arrested two other suspects on Monday, June 11: Jeremy Laye and Tony Robinson. Both men face multiple drug charges, while Laye has also been charged with obstruction of an officer and possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer.

During the World Cup, FOX Sports announced that Bonnetta will host a “30-minute live show on Twitter from Moscow’s Red Square, providing match action previews, recaps, Twitter reaction and original segments.”

Prior to joining FOX Sports, Bonnetta had a prominent role with Major League Soccer where she hosted “MLS Now” and “Off Topic with Rachel Bonnetta.” The “Off Topic” show allowed Bonnetta to travel and give a unique look at MLS athletes with interviews and by exploring the cities across the country.

Bonnetta graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in her hometown of Toronto, Canada.

Sara Sálamo is a gorgeous Spanish actress who is dating Real Madrid and Spain International midfielder Isco Alarcon. Sálamo was born on January 20, 1992, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Spain’s Canary Islands.

Chloe Dykstra has built a strong following online. The 29-year-old Los Angeles native, who is the daughter of special effects artist John Dykstra, is an actress, model, and cosplayer who has been on a number of shows. She currently produces and co-hosts a web series Just Cos for the Nerdist Industries on YouTube, and is a cast member of Heroes of Cosplay on SyFy. She was previously married to Chris Hardwick. The couple split in 2014.

On Friday, June 15, Dykstra opened up about the “long-term” emotional and sexual abuse from an unnamed boyfriend that many believe is Hardwick.

“I believed that, to borrow an analogy from a friend, if I kept digging I would find water. And sometimes I did. Just enough to sustain me. And when you’re dying of thirst, that water is the best water you’ll ever drink. When you’re alienated from your friends, there’s no one to tell you that there’s a drinking fountain 20 feet away. And when your self-worth reaches such depths after years of being treated like you’re worthless, you might find you think you deserve that sort of treatment, and no one else will love you,” she wrote in a lengthy post on Medium.

“This story, post, whatever this is, serves as both closure for me as I say farewell to my twenties and stumble my way into my thirties, and it serves as a warning for every single one of you, regardless of gender. You know, it’s funny; when you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags. Please, please, keep an eye out for those red flags.”

Dykstra landed a serious acting role in 2018 as Cello Shea in Diminuendo.

The University of Chicago has joined the “test-optional” movement that is slowly becoming more popular with American universities. So, if you were thinking of applying to U Chicago, but couldn’t muster the quintuple digit scores or whatever to match their expectations, you might still have a shot. But, if you do happen to knock the tests out of the park and want to flex hard on the admissions committee, they’re not stopping you.

For a long time, 118 years to be precise, the College Board (SAT) has pretty much had a monopoly on standardized testing, with the exception of the ACT, which was introduced as an alternative only 60 years ago. As a byproduct of their longevity, the standardized tests also have a monopoly on thought, and the test-optional movement is trying to change that, for worse or better.

Advocates of the SAT test stand firm in their beliefs that the SAT score (or ACT score if you’re cool) is a necessary measurement for Universities to consider for several reasons. Namely, the SAT provides an objective assessment of a student’s college readiness in the face of inconsistent grading criteria and varying difficulty of High Schools around the country. Keep in mind, there is A LOT of discrepancies between High Schools across America. Oklahoma public schools, for example, force students to share outdated textbooks that look like they were run through the wash. Also, not every High School offers honors, AP, or IB classes that allow students to challenge and spotlight themselves. And, how would any university get a good handle on the abilities of a homeschooled kid who has no GPA at all?

“ACT scores provide a common, standardized metric that allows colleges to evaluate students who attend different high schools, live in different states, complete difference courses with different teachers, and receive different grades on a level playing field…No other factor used in admission decisions can do that. Comparing students based on widely different sources of information with no common metric increases the subjectivity of admissions decisions,” said Ed Colby, a spokesman for the ACT.

On the flipside of the argument, proponents of the test-optional policy point to the hefty fees associated with registering and taking the tests and their capacity to hinder students with less money to spend. They argue that the SAT and ACT do nothing but tell universities how much money a student has. Students that score well on the tests are also more likely to come from top-tier high schools and/or have access to tutors. And, it is true that you are allowed to take the tests as many times as you like, so naturally, kids with more money will score better if they know they can learn from their mistakes and improve upon their scores. Plus, the College Board and the ACT are businesses that profit off students – they’re enormously biased. However, scholarships do exist, and the fees aren’t as crippling as perhaps the University’s actual cost of attendance.

Vice president of U Chicago and dean of admissions Jim Nodorf told the Chicago Tribune, “Despite the fact that we would say testing is only one piece of the application, that’s the first thing a college asks you. We wanted to really take a look at all our requirements and make sure they were fair to every group, that everybody, anybody could aspire to a place like UChicago.”

University of Chicago’s decision marks the first time a top-ranked school has done away with the standardized testing requirements, and its heart is in the right place. For a while now, the University has been making it easier for first-generation, low income, and minorities to gain admission to the school. The University of Chicago promises 4-year scholarships to first-generation students and free tuition to families making under 125,000 dollars. Possible caveats aside, U Chicago is acknowledging the role of money in its admissions processes.
