Lawsuit Claims Harvard Routinely Rated Asian-Americans Lower On “Personality Traits”

According to an analysis of more than 160,000 student records, Harvard University routinely rated Asian-American applicants lower than any other race on personal traits such “positive personality, likability, courage, kindness and being ‘widely respected’”.

The findings of the analysis were filed in federal court in Boston by a group representing Asian-American students in a lawsuit against Harvard on Friday, June 15.

The New York Times reports that while the analysis showed that Asian-Americans consistently scored higher than other races on admissions metrics such as test scores, grades and extracurricular activities, the students’ low “personality” ratings “significantly dragged down their chances of being admitted”.

Furthermore, the suit states that while Harvard’s own personal researchers cited a bias against Asian-American applicants in a series of internal reports in 2013, the university chose to ignore the findings and never publicly release them.

via NY Times:

They are part of a lawsuit charging Harvard with systematically discriminating against Asian-Americans, in violation of civil rights law. The suit brought by Students for Fair Admissions says that Harvard imposes what is in effect a soft quota of “racial balancing.” This keeps the numbers of Asian-Americans artificially low, while advancing less qualified white, black and Hispanic applicants, the plaintiffs contend.

Harvard vigorously defended its admissions process on Friday, saying that its own expert analysis showed no discrimination. It lashed out at the founder of Students for Fair Admissions, Edward Blum, accusing him of using Harvard in an effort to orchestrate a challenge to race-conscious admissions that would go to the Supreme Court.

“Thorough and comprehensive analysis of the data and evidence makes clear that Harvard College does not discriminate against applicants from any group, including Asian-Americans, whose rate of admission has grown 29 percent over the last decade,” Harvard said in a statement. “Mr. Blum and his organization’s incomplete and misleading data analysis paint a dangerously inaccurate picture of Harvard College’s whole-person admissions process by omitting critical data and information factors.”

As previously mentioned, the plaintiffs’ analysis was based data extracted from the records of more than 160,000 applicants who applied for admission over six cycles from 2000 to 2015.

Seth Waxman, a lawyer for Harvard, said the statistical analysis could not measure the impact of material like teacher and community recommendations and personal essays.

Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office

Shannon Hathaway, a 33-year-old guidance counselor, was arrested on Thursday, June 14, in Fort Worth, Texas, for an alleged sexual relationship with a student.

According to reports, Hathaway was arrested on Thursday the 14th after the unidentified boy’s mother allegedly walked in on the two of them in May. Hathaway was placed on administrative leave before turning herself in to authorities.

via Star-Telegram:

School district officials became aware of Hathaway’s relationship with a former 17-year-old male student at Harwood Junior High when the teen’s sister informed school administrators of it on May 8, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram on Thursday.

The sister said that during the 2016-2017 school year, Hathaway would spend a lot of time with her brother, who is now 18 years old and has since dropped out of school. She said she never witnessed inappropriate behavior between the pair, aside from Hathaway holding her brother’s hand.

She said that Hathaway told her she was in love with her brother and would leave her husband for him, the affidavit says. The sister told investigators that her brother confided in her about having sex on numerous occasions with Hathaway at her home in Keller, his mother’s home in Euless and potentially at Harwood Junior High. It’s unclear in the affidavit what she meant by “potentially.”

Hathaway is just the latest school official to be charged for an alleged relationship with a teenager student.  Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

In addition, 31-year-old Nicole Marie Andrews, 32-year-old Jessica Langford, 29-year-old Andrea Baber, 27-year-old Robin Dunlap, 27-year-old Jennifer Olajire-Aro have also been charged with these charges.

34-year-old Miranda Nicole Pauley was charged with similar crimes, Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student, Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016 and 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship. 27-year-old Brittany Zamora from Arizona was arrested on similar charges. Keri Hoffman, 35, was also arrested for an alleged relationship with a student. More recently, 29-year-old Tiffany Ranweiler-Oblander and 33-year-old Maren Oates were arrested on similar charges.

Clarinet Player Wins Lawsuit Against Ex-Girlfriend After She Hacked His Email & Declined A $50,000 Scholarship

Everybody swears their ex-was a crazy person. Sure, your ex might have left you on “read” a couple times or they got mad at you for laughing a little too much with someone of the opposite sex, but did they ever sabotage your entire clarinet career, ruin your chance to study under noted clarinetist Yehuda Gilad, and screw you out of 350,000 dollars? Didn’t think so. With the exception of Eric Abramovitz and myself, of course, no one can claim their ex-was THAT crazy.

Eric Abramovitz was an extremely prodigious child. He learned to play the clarinet at age 7 and never looked back. He won first prize at the Canadian Music Competition six times and was a featured soloist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec. Needless to say, Eric was a rising star.

Towards the end of 2013, Abramovitz applied to the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, a program that, if accepted, would give him access to some of the greatest clarinet players in the world, including Yehuda Gilad, and an almost certain high paying Orchestra job after graduation. He auditioned live in front of his would-be professors, and a month later, he was selected.

However, his girlfriend at the time, Jennifer Lee, found the letter of acceptance in his inbox and deleted it, out of fear of him leaving her for the spot (don’t share your passwords, folks). Lee then posed as Gilad, declining his admission to the program. Abramovitz didn’t find out until a year later when he decided to keep pursuing clarinet at USC, not on scholarship, where he was able to study under Yehuda Gilad part-time.

Gilad eventually approached him and asked, “Why did you reject me?” Taken aback, Abramovitz asked, “Why did you reject me?” Unable to figure out the lapse in communication at the time, the mystery lingered until Eric uncovered the email that his Ex had sent pretending to be Gilad. He suspected some tampering had happened and decided to do some digging. The recovery email address associated with the fake email that had come from an address titled giladyehuda09@gmail.com was that of Jennifer Lee and the phone number matched up too. Of course, Gilad had never seen the email before, and Eric discovered the truth.

Abramovitz then sued for $300,000 in damages, including loss of reputation, loss of educational opportunity and loss of two years of potential income potential, according to the Montreal Gazette. David L. Corbett, the judge overseeing the case, ruled in his favor and added an additional 50,000 dollars to the penalty against Lee. In his official statement, Corbett said,

“I accept and find that Mr. Abramovitz lost a unique and prestigious educational opportunity, one that would have advanced his career as a professional clarinetist…It is difficult to quantify such a loss. Mr. Abramovitz’s life and career have continued. Imagining how his life would have been different if he had studied for two years under Mr. Gilad, and earned his teacher’s respect and support, requires more speculation than the law permits. One hears … of the ‘big breaks’ that can launch a promising artist to a stratospheric career.

“I cannot speculate as to how high and how quickly Mr. Abramovitz’s career might have soared, but for the interference by Ms. Lee. But the law does recognize that the loss of a chance is a very real and compensable loss.”

Lee and Abramovitz broke up for unrelated reasons several months after he was initially offered the spot under Gilad.

Florida Friday: All Of This Week’s Headlines From America’s Most Interesting State-6/15

Oh, Florida — like our wives and girlfriends, we can’t live with you, but we certainly couldn’t live without you. You are like the Drunk Uncle in the family that is the United States of America: you mean well & have a good heart, but show up to the party already hammered and then tell Cousin Derek to go f*ck himself before you fall face first through the all-glass living room coffee table. You’re a wildcard, but you’re our wildcard, and we love ya for it.

For some reason, though, more than any other state in the union, Florida has an uncanny knack of churning out the most preposterous headlines you’ve ever heard of.

“Homeless Man Engages in Sword Fight with Alligator”

“Pink-Haired Couple Rob Bank Armed Only with String Cheese”

“Party Clown Arrested for Smoking Crack in Front of Children”

Are these real stories? Did I just make these headlines up? Who knows. I guess you’ll have to Google it. Either way, the point is they sound real and that’s because in Florida, literally, anything is possible, even the most bizarre.

Okay, I’ll admit, the headlines above you are fake, but the ones below are entirely real, and that’s what makes Florida so Florida: you cannot tell the difference between what’s real and what’s not because it all sounds so wildly ridiculous.

“Teen Bites the Head Off Live Chicken”

“Elementary School Teacher Arrested For Selling Marijuana”

“Police Searching For Cross-Dresser Who Keeps Leaving Underwear On Random Cars”

“Man Causes $100K in Damage at Local Walmart, Blames ‘Hookah Smoking Caterpillar'”

“Teacher Placed on Leave For Drowning Racoons in Class”

“Woman Poses as Federal Agent to Score Free Chick-Fil-A”

“This Chainsaw Wielding Nun is the Hero Florida Deserves Right Now”

“Man Whips Out Samurai Sword During Road Rage Incident”

“Teacher Suspended For Allowing Students to Hook Up in Class”

Needless to say, you get our point: Florida is a mad, mad place.

So with that in mind, we’ve decided to do a weekly round-up of all the headlines from America’s Bastard Son of a State … the only and only Florida.

Robert Lewandowski Net Worth 2018: How Much Is Lewandowski Worth Now?

$

Robert Lewandowski is the scoring powerhouse of Bayern Munich (for now..) and the Polish National team. Rumors abound right now about where he could be heading next after making a name for himself in the Bundesliga but this summer his focus will be on the 2018 World Cup. After all his success he must have racked up quite a fortune right? How much is Lewandowski worth now?

Robert Lewandowski Net Worth: $45 Million

Multiple reports put Lewandowski’s Net Worth at $45 Million! How did the Polish goal machine earn his riches?

1988-2010

Instagram Photo

Lewandowski was born August 21, 1988, in Warsaw, Poland. He started with his first youth club in 1997. It was MKS Varsovia Warsaw in his hometown and played there for seven years before moving on to Delta Warsaw. He managed to earn a handful of first team starts with the club as well. Lewandowski got his first taste of a major club joining Lech Poznan in the Polish top division. He joined the club in 2008 and made his debut in July in a qualifier for the UEFA Cup. His final season with the club would be his most successful. He would lead the league with 18 goals while the club would win the league title and the Polish Super Cup.

Lewandowski would also make his senior team debut the same year he joined Lech Poznan. In September 2008 he would make his debut as a substitute and score a goal in a qualifier for the 2010 World Cup. He was only 20 years old at the time, only one other player in Polish National team history scored their debut goal at a younger age. His success on the club and national team would bring Lewandowski into new heights in the Bundesliga soon.

2010-2014

Instagram Photo

Lewandowski joined Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund in June 2010. He would quickly make himself a mainstay in the first team and would go on to be part of Dortmund’s successful run that would displace Bayern Munich from the top spot in Germany for a short time. In his four seasons with the club, he helped them win two league titles. A DFB-Pokal German Cup, A German Super Cup, and even make a Champions League Final appearance that they lost to Bayern Munich. He would also personally be the top scorer in the Bundesliga in 2014 and lead the tournament in scoring when Dortmund won the German Cup in 2012, again against Bayern Munich.

To go hand in hand with his continued ascension on the club level Lewandowski also continued to be a mainstay on the National Team. He was part of the polish team that went to Euro 2012 in Greece. Unfortunately, the Polish National Team would not qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Even though Poland faced disappointment in 2014, it would turn out to be a big year for Lewandowski.

2014-Present

Instagram Photo

Before even leaving Borussia Dortmund, Lewandowski announced he would be joining the Black and Yellow team’s rival and German soccer giant, Bayern Munich after the 2014 season was completed. He joined the club at the beginning of the 2014-2015 season. Lewandowski would find even more success with the German juggernaut, winning the league all four years he was on the team, a DFB- Pokal German Cup, and two German Super Cups. On his own, he would lead the league in scoring in 2016 and 2018 and the Pokal tournament in 2017 and 2018.

He would help get Poland back on track by helping them qualify for the 2016 Euro Tournament. He struggled through the tournament, not even getting a shot on target until the round of 16 elimination bracket. When Poland was eliminated from the tournament he had more fouls than any other player in the tournament up to that moment. He would get back on track during the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, scoring 16 goals in the process en route to Poland making it to the competition.

As the sun sets on Lewandowski’s time with Bayern Munich rumors are abound on where the forward could end up. Wherever that is the team will be getting a quality player to add to their ranks. On top of that Lewandowski isn’t even 30 yet so he still has some time left to make a difference in the soccer history books. So good on anyone who lands the Polish National Team Captain!

Gary Lindsey: Full Story & Must-See Details

Gary Lindsey, a 35-year-old felon, shot and killed four children in their sleep before beginning a 21-hour standoff with police that also left an officer in critical condition with a head wound.

According to reports, Orlando detectives believe that Lindsey either shot the children shortly before or after officers came to the door of his apartment on the night of Sunday, June 10. A statement released by the Orlando Police Department says that police were responding to a domestic battery call from his Lindsey’s girlfriend.

While the four children lost their lives, Lindsey’s girlfriend, 31-year-old Ciara Lopez, had escaped the apartment, leaving the children inside. Lopez was the mother of all four children, while Lindsey was the father of two.

via NBC News:

Lindsey fired at the responding officers, seriously wounding Officer Kevin Valencia, who is in a coma but has shown signs of responsiveness. Lindsey then holed up in the apartment for almost a full day. Officers found him dead in a closet when they entered the apartment about 9 p.m. Monday.

When authorities entered the apartment, two of the children were found in one bedroom, and the other two were found in another bedroom. The medical examiner on Wednesday reported that the children were killed by bullets from Lindsey’s handgun, not from the exchange of fire with officers, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said.

The mother of the children told the Orlando Sentinel that she’s “heartbroken” and feels “completely alone.” In a statement through a family spokesman, 31-year-old Ciara Lopez said she wants her children, ranging in age from 1 to 11, to be remembered as loving and “full of life.”

Walter Benenati, a spokesman for the family, said money is being raised to help cover funeral expenses. Court records show Lindsey had an extensive criminal history involving arson, battery and theft and was on probation for several charges, including arson.

World Cup Analyst Pulls A “Tony Romo”, Perfectly Predicts A Goal Before It Happens

During his first season as an NFL analyst, Tony Romo was known for two things: making strange high-pitched squeal noises and predicting plays before they happen. And since Fox Sports World Cup analyst Stu Holden already has a high-pitched voice, all he had to do was predict a play to become the soccer analyst version of Tony Romo. So naturally, that’s exactly what he did.

While calling Spain and Portugal’s instant classic of a World Cup game, Stu Holden perfectly predicted Spain’s second goal.

With Manchester City midfielder David Silva standing over a dangerous free kick, Holden suggested that Spain would probably look to chip the ball to the back post so they can head it back across the face of goal for man-amongst-boys striker Diego Costa to bury. And guess what happened?

If the first day of the 2018 World Cup was any indication, then this year’s tournament is going to be an absolute classic. The first two games of the day were decided on “buzzer beaters” (stoppage time goals), while the final game was a 3-3 shootout thriller fueled by a Cristiano Ronaldo hat trick.

New Aquaman Characters Revealed: Meet The Atlanteans

Entertainment Weekly’s finally brought the Aquaman movie insider info we’ve all been waiting for, including a bunch of shiny new set pictures. Since many of the characters and places shown in the photos aren’t exactly well known in pop culture outside of Aquaman’s immediate fanbase, we have all the basic info you need to know to get hyped right here!

Atlanna

Instagram Photo

Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) is the Queen of Atlantis and mother of Orm and Aquaman. In what is most likely a prologue or flashback scene, one picture shows Atlanna cradling the infant hero in her arms above water, most likely preparing to give him up for good to his human father in order to protect him from her own people. Compared to the xenophobic and would-be warlord Orm Atlanna strictly maintains a policy of peace and non-interference with the surface. Atlanna also seems to have had a close relationship with the Xebel princess Mera, who mentioned in Justice League she had been protected by the queen when she was a child during ‘the wars.’

Orm

Instagram Photo

Atlantean Prince Orm (Patrick Wilson) is Aquaman’s half-brother. Scorning his mother’s desire for peace and seeing his brother as evidence of the tainting nature of the surface world, he wants nothing more than to subjugate humanity and rule all Seven Kingdoms of the sea with an iron fist.

Black Manta

Instagram Photo

Though Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) isn’t Atlantean he is unquestionably one of Aquaman’s oldest and most iconic enemies; even Orm pales in comparison. The treasure hunting mercenary and the hero have deeply hated one another ever since they were young men when they were each responsible for the death of the other’s father. Though Orm is clearly positioned to be the most obvious villain of the film, it would be highly surprising if Manta didn’t turn out to be a much bigger player in the end and perhaps even be set up as the big bad for a sequel.

Atlantis vs. Xebel

Instagram Photo

One stunning shot shows a standoff between the armies of Atlantis and King Nereus (Dolph Lundgren) of the rebel kingdom of Xebel. In the comics, Xebel was a former penal colony trapped behind a dimensional barrier within the Bermuda Triangle. The descendants of the original prisoners were desperate for freedom, and their king Nereus trained his daughter Mera to be a master assassin and warrior from childhood so she could escape and kill the current ruler.

Xebel’s situation seems to have been altered for the premise of the movie, perhaps simply being one of the Seven Kingdoms. The two mighty armies also indicate that the struggle between Xebel and Atlantis will be on a larger scale than ever before.

Aquaman is directed by James Wan (Saw, Insidious). It premieres December 21, 2018, and stars Jason Momoa, Nicole Kidman, Tenua Morrison, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Amber Heard.

The stage is officially set for what will undoubtedly be yet another thrilling College World Series. After a grueling round of 16 at the Super-Regional tournaments, here is how the Omaha Eight is shaping up. The UNC Tar Heels seem to be getting hot at the right time, paving their way to Omaha after sweeping a Stetson team who boasted the best team ERA in the country. In addition to the Tar Heels, the Oregan State Beavers also swept their Super-Regional series against a Minnesota team that managed to win the Big Ten championship this year. After an 8-1 win in game one, the Beavers weren’t going to move on without a fight as they entered the ninth tied at 3 with the Golden Gophers, the Beavers would go on to win the deciding game by a score of 6-3. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Washington and Mississippi State will be joining UNC and OSU however, their road to Omaha was slightly more dramatic. Both went to a deciding game three in their Super-Regional series, Washington against Cal State Fullerton, and Mississippi State against Vanderbilt. Washington walked it off in the tenth with an RBI Sacrifice Fly, and Mississippi State did the same in the 11th off of an RBI-double, which was followed up by three more runs before they closed Vanderbilt out in the bottom half of the inning.

In addition, these four will be joined by the likes of the Texas Longhorns, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the Florida Gators, all of whom went to deciding game 3’s in their Super-Regional series’. The Longhorns rallied behind strong pitching and an outstanding series from one Kody Clemens who homered in every game pushing them past a tough Tennessee Tech offense. After a back an forth series, the Red Raiders contained the Duke Blue Devils in game 3, winning by a score of 6-2. Arkansas had arguably the most convincing win of the group, burying South Carolina with a score of 14-4 in game 3. Finally, what came as a surprise to many was the defending champion Gators going to extra innings with an Auburn team that entered the season ranked sixth in their division. The Gators won on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning that bounced off of the glove of the Auburn right fielder.

Fighting for a chance at college immortality, the World Series will kick off on Saturday, June 16th and will run through June 26th or 27th depending on if a deciding game 3 will be required.

Lionel Messi had a chance to give Argentina the lead over Iceland in their opening World Cup game, however, Messi — who has a history of blowing big PK’s — got stuffed by Iceland goalkeeper Hannes Þór Halldórsson (who is a film director in his spare time).

This is not the first time that Messi has missed a penalty kick on the big stage as he skied a PK in the 2016 Copa America Final against Chile. While Messi is widely considered to be the greatest player of all time, his struggles with penalty kicks are well documented.

Yes, Argentina didn’t lose the game, but the nature in which they tied definitely felt like a loss.

Tabitha Duncan, 20, is a waitress from Missouri who was fired from her service job at the Social Bar & Grill after she was seen on film using the N-word.

Duncan, otherwise known as ‘Tabby’, was recorded on the social media platform SnapChat talking about going ‘n****r hunting’. In the video, Duncan is seen saying the ‘n-word’ while drinking a beer as she rides on top of a pick-up truck.

The 15-second video was posted to Facebook on Sunday, June 10, and quickly went viral.

The Social Bar & Grill — Duncan’s former place of employment — is located at 4265 Reavis Barracks Road in St. Louis, Missouri. The establishment quickly terminated Duncan and released the following statement.

“Social Bar & Grill and it’s owners have recently become aware of a vile, disgusting, and offensive video made by one of its employees. Upon learning of this, Social Bar & grill immediately terminated this employee as soon as they could reach her! The incendiary comments made by this employee absolutely DOES not represent the views, opinions, and politics of Social Bar & Grill and it’s owners. Noir will they be tolerated in any fashion. Social Bar & Grill and it’s owners continue to encourage and seek diversity in its restaurant,” the restaurant said in a statement on Facebook .”

Furthermore, The Riverfront Times reports that Duncan recently joined the United States Air Force. At this time, the USAF is currently “looking into the matter.” While it’s not clear where the video was filmed, Duncan lives in Jefferson County, Missouri.

The US Air Force released the following statement:

“We have been made aware of a video online of an alleged reserve Airman who made racially insensitive comments. We are looking into the matter and we appreciate this being brought to our attention. The U.S. Air Force values diversity and inclusion; our Airmen come together to produce an incredible team that can accomplish any mission and overcome any challenge. We believe that our greatest asset is our diverse, innovative and technically-savvy workforce. Our Airmen come from all backgrounds and remarks such as these do not fall in line with our culture. We take incidents like this very seriously and action will be taken upon further investigation as necessary.”

In response to the video, Duncan has said that she is not racist and insists that she was intoxicated and that she has black friends.

“I have black friends, I have black people in my family, I didn’t mean it. I didn’t know that I was being (recorded),” Duncan said.

Top 10 Best College Football Fans Of 2018

College football players have to put in a lot of time and effort to reach the peak athleticism necessary to crash against an equally buff opponents in a bout for supremacy, but the true reward for them isn’t the trophy they get for winning or the potential to go pro after college. No, every college athlete lives and dies for the endless adoration of the fans. Nobody screams, cheers or chants quite as loud and violently as college football fans. After all, the team spirit of the sport is reflective of the college they come from and nobody wants to think that they’re putting themselves in years of debt to go to a losing school. So college students love the thrill of watching their classmates go to war on a 100-yard field and aren’t above losing their cool to vehemently throw their support behind their fellows. But which schools have the best fans? Which teams inspire the most lucid aggression and animosity in their followers? Which teams should you always support at a home game or risk being trampled to death?

Notre Dame

In good old Massachusetts, the Fightin’ Irish aren’t just a local staple or even just a respected institution. They’re a legacy, a football dynasty stretching back over a hundred years with third, fourth and now even fifth generation fans packing Notre Dame Stadium for every game. Fans are religiously loyal to the Leprechaun because their parents were, and so were their parents’ parents. And if you dare to come to a game not wearing green for good luck, these fans will show you a beating that only drunk Bostonians can deliver, followed by a chorus of “You think you’re better than me?”s.

University of Florida

When you face off against the Gators, getting to the field in one piece can be half the battle. Nicknamed ‘The Swamp,’ Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is definitively Gator country, home to legions of screaming fans who are so dead-set on intimidating the opposing team that you could almost believe they were getting paid for it. Exercise caution if you go to a home game and aren’t an ardent supporter of the blue and orange. After all, this is Florida we’re talking about here, who knows what could happen to you.

West Virginia University

The West Virginia Mountaineers aren’t exactly the most well-known team in the league, but their fans regularly burn couches to celebrate victories so they must be doing something right. The town of Morgantown, West Virginia, which the fans routinely turn into a giant tailgate before games, passed laws specifically outlawing the pyromantic practice which were almost immediately ignored. When your fans are ready, willing and able to go against the law to set upholstery on fire in your honor, you know you got something special on your hands.

Clemson University

How do you know if the Clemson Tigers are in town? You could either look up at the unbreakable wall of orange-painted college kids moving past your window or you could look down at any random dollar bill you picked up in the last few days to see if it’s been stamped with the signature paw print, a practice Tiger fans have been pushing for years so that at local businesses will unintentionally show support for Clemson during away games. Pretty sneaky tactic for people who typically wear nothing but briefs and orange body paint.

University of Oaklahoma

The University of Oklahoma has some of the best football side-aspects of any team. They have a cool mascot, an iconic symbol and one of the most famous fight songs in the history of the sport. And it’s all possible thanks to the loyal fans who fill Memorial Stadium with the classic ‘Boomer Sooner’ chant for every single game. Often decked out in red and white and more often than not joined by legendary commentator Jim Ross, Oklahoma fans are arguably the most ardent and fervent of the Big 12.

Texas A&M

There’s a sign in Kyle Stadium that reads ‘Home of the 12th man.’ It’s a reference to E. King Gill, a squad player who aided in a David-and-Goliath style victory for the A&M Aggies in 1922, but has been adopted by the team’s fanatical followers as a slogan to represent them. With their unending chants and die-hard support, the wave of fans are essentially an extra player that the team can call upon at a moment’s notice to raise spirit and morale.

University of Nebraska – Lincoln

Some fans make this list for their unusual or violent forms of supporting their teams. Some make the list for embracing classic team traditions with an unbridled passion. Fans of the Nebraska Cornhuskers make this list for selling out every home game for the past 56 years. For almost 400 games since 1962, over 90,000 fans have filled the bleachers of Memorial Stadium to show support for their beloved Huskers, painting the entire arena red with their team paraphernalia.

Louisiana State University

When even the legendary Alabama coach Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant calls your stadium “the worst place in the world for a visiting team,” then you know your fans have your back in the most spectacular way possible. LSU fans are known to be so rowdy, violent and zealous that Tiger Stadium is nicknamed ‘Death Valley.’ Most terrifying is their endurance, deafening cheers are known to fill the stadium for the full length of the game with no pauses or interruptions for any reason.

University of Texas – Austin

If football is a religion in Texas, then Austin is the Vatican. And using that metaphor, the iconic ‘Hook’em Horns’ gesture that fans of the Longhorns have used for decades as a tribute to their team is the equivalent of crossing oneself. At every single game, these fans raise their arms in the famous salute from the tailgate all the way to the closing play. Such devotion makes sense as these aren’t so many fans of a teams as they are worshipers of a rotating and aggressive band of apostles.

University of Alabama

You just knew the Crimson Tide had to appear somewhere on this list. With a crowd ranging from students to faculty to townies to just random rednecks floating about the south, Alabama has become the undisputed pride of the SEC and arguably the most beloved team in college football. And with Alabama’s current record and numerous trophies, it’s entirely possible that the team’s success if a direct reflection of the passion and faith their fans have in them.
