Despite the ineptitude of the Baltimore Ravens passing offense, at some point a receiver other than tight end Benjamin Watson would have to emerge. While wideout Jeremy Maclin has made some clutch catches when he has been healthy, it’s clear that quarterback Joe Flacco has a favorite weapon that he loves to target with his once deadly deep ball. Although a healthy Danny Woodhead could entice Flacco to rely much more heavily on the short passing game, his value as a legitimate starting quarterback is predicated on his ability to throw the ball downfield with accuracy. Recently, Flacco appears to have rekindled his on the field rapport with wide receiver Mike Wallace, which is essential to the Ravens being slightly less predictable on offense.

While it has certainly been a fairly disappointing season for Wallace in terms of receiving yards (1,017 receiving yards last year, just 323 receiving yards this year), he has recently been a much more utilized scoring threat (two touchdowns in his last two games) and has still been great at going off for big yardage chunks when the ball is in his hands (13.5 yards per reception). On top of that, Wallace has almost always been on the field for the Ravens when a pass play is executed (36 pass plays per game, 18th amongst receivers), which has given him a plethora of opportunities to make crucial catches.

Of equal importance has been Wallace’s overall target shares throughout the majority of the season. Since week 5, Wallace’s target shares have dipped below 11 just once and have peaked as high as 13 this season. While his impressive target shares have not always resulted in elevated fantasy point scores, his consistent presence combined with his target volume have and will allow Wallace to score points quickly, just not as often as some fantasy owners will like.

The only thing holding Wallace back from being a reliable receiving threat is Joe Flacco. Averaging 5.5 yards per pass attempt this season, Flacco has been unusually reserved when relying on the deep ball to make plays, relegating the Ravens offense to being ineffective for the most part. With that being said, Wallace does have intriguing flex appeal due to his talent and high target volume, he just has to be downgraded from being a must-start to match up dependent this season.

Hundreds of people have been relocated from the Oxford Circus tube station due to reports of gunshots.

Armed police have arrived on the scene to handle the situation after a gunman was reported to be firing shots. The area is also believed to be on lockdown.

The shooting had been notable as November 24 is considered one of the busiest shopping days in the country, meaning that thousands of people could possibly be on the streets when the shooting had happened.

No evidence of shooting or suspects were found by police, as confirmed in a statement, according to Bloomberg.

In a statement, according to Telegraph, Scotland Yard has confirmed that the incident is being treated as a possible “terror incident.” At this time, however, there are no reported casualties. It was later confirmed that one woman was injured while leaving the station.

The Met Police eventually gave a statement explaining the situation, according to Joe:

Police were called at 16:38hrs on Friday, 24 November to a number of reports of shots fired on Oxford Street and underground at Oxford Circus tube station. Police have responded as if the incident is terrorist related. Armed and unarmed officers are on scene and dealing along with colleagues from British Transport Police. If you are on Oxford Street go into a building and stay inside until further direction. Avoid travelling to the Oxford Street area.

Eventually, police confirmed a lack of evidence, making the incident appear to be a false alarm, according to the Standard. At around 6 PM (local time), the incident had been stood down, with members of the public being allowed to leave buildings, with the Tube station also reopening. At this time, it is not clear what sparked the panic or 999 calls to the police reporting gunshots.

As one witness, identified as Lilly Steger, told the Standard:

There were screams and then everybody started running. I thought originally it was a car driving into traffic. Everybody ran into stores or hotels.

As the police added in a statement, some officers will stay in the area to reassure people that everything is safe:

Some cordons remain in place and additional officers remain on duty in the West End to reassure the public. We thank the public for their patience and assistance during our response.

According to authorities, a few people had been injured during the evacuation. According to The Evening Standard, Stuart Crichton, London Ambulance Service assistant director of operations, explained:

We checked over and treated several patients who sustained injuries while leaving the Oxford Circus area.

We discharged seven patients at the scene and took eight patients to two central London hospitals for minor injuries.

Hundreds have been evacuated from Oxford Circus as reports of an active shooter broke out. There have also been reports of shots fired and shoppers being locked into stores on Oxford Street in London, one of Britain’s most famous shopping area. Panic initially erupted on Oxford Street at around 5 P.M. after gunshots were reportedly heard in or around the Underground station. As of 5:40 P.M. (local time) police have not found evidence of shots fired or causalities. One woman reportedly suffered minor injuries as a direct result of the incident.

Armed police have arrived on the scene and are investigating the incident.

Greg Bird spoke with MailOnline and told them that he was sitting at a coffee shop near Oxford Circus station when he witnessed “about 50 people sprinting around the corner and screaming.”

One witness said that a man with a gun walked into Zara on Oxford Street and “everyone was screaming.” The witness, along with other shoppers, were led out of the store.

London’s Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were called at 16:38hrs on Friday, 24 November to a number of reports of shots fired on Oxford Street and underground at Oxford Circus tube station.

The area is currently under lockdown during one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Thousands of shoppers came out to the area today for Black Friday. Hundreds were forced back into stores as reports of an active shooter broke out. Police are searching the area for the alleged Black Friday shooter.

Dan Smallbone wrote on Twitter: “There is a lorry stopped on the pavement in Oxford Street, police all around it and blood on the floor, it’s definitely the aftermath of something maybe just a crash but nothing on the news.”

David Allwood was also on the scene when shoppers were locked into stores following reports of “shots fired.”

Allwood said, “On Oxford Street and it’s chaos. Shutters closed in Boots while they find out what is happening outside. Not Black Friday chaos. Rumours of shooting and a lorry.”

The British Transport Police tweeted out that they’ve “received one report of a woman sustaining a minor injury when leaving Oxford Circus station. There are no other reported casualties. More updates to follow.”

Transport for London wrote on Twitter: “Oxford Circus Station is closed while we investigate a customer incident.”

MailOnline journalist Keiligh Baker was reportedly on the scene when the incident unfolded.

She was walking towards Carnaby Street from Oxford Street when “Lots of armed police arrived and stormed Oxford Street. They were shouting “move, move, move!” Then the uniformed officers started shouting “go, go, go”. People were sprinting and screaming.”

Update: Oxford Circus Station has officially been reopened to the public.

What Happened?

Gunshots were heard in or around the Underground station at around 5 P.M. (local time), resulting in mass panic and a heavy armed police presence. Witness Ryan Smith was working in a building on the corner of Great Titchfield Street and Oxford Street and saw the chaos unfold firsthand. Smith said, “It was just like a stampede – there were thousands of people running down the street. They started flocking into the building.”

According to British Transport Police, panic ensued after the Central Line platform of Circus Station was evacuated. A spokesperson for the department said, “At 4.37pm this afternoon, officers were called to Oxford Circus station following reports of gunfire on the westbound Central Line platform. Passengers at the station then self-evacuated the station onto Oxford Circus and Regent Street area of London. This caused a significant level of panic which resulted in numerous calls from members of the public reporting gunfire. Officers responded in line with our procedures of a terrorist incident, this included armed officers from British Transport Police and the Metropolitan Police.”

One woman reportedly suffered minor injuries in the melee.

At this moment, police have not found any evidence of a shooting.

After 12 weeks of college football, there is a contest between two in-state rivals. These teams are the Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Both teams started the season with bowl game expectations but no one expected Georgia to be a top ten team for the entire season. Georgia Tech was expected to make a bowl game this season and that goal has yet to be reached. With both teams seeking to improve their resume, expect this game to be closer than people think.

Georgia started the season with extremely high hopes. The Bulldogs have lived up to those expectations so far and are currently undefeated. The most impressive part of their season thus far is who the Bulldogs have beaten. In the first four weeks, Georgia defeated top 25 ranked Notre Dame on the road and top 25 ranked Mississippi State at home. If Georgia managed to run the table for the rest of the season, they would have been in the college football playoffs. However, Georgia’s title hopes were essentially ruined when the Bulldogs got routed by Auburn a few weeks ago.

Georgia’s success is due to freshman quarterback Jake Fromm. Fromm was expected to be the backup quarterback this season behind Jacob Eason. However, Eason got injured earlier this year and Fromm was thrown under the fire as the immediate replacement. However, Fromm has looked remarkable this season and has thrown for 17 touchdowns and only five interception.

However, Fromm’s success is also due to the success of Georgia’s running game this season. Georgia currently has three elite running backs on the roster and their success had opened up a lot of holes in the secondary for Fromm to exploit. Running backs Nick Chubb, D’Andre Swift and Sony Michel are each averaging over six yards per carry and have at least one touchdown. Either running back could be a starter on the majority of college football teams in division I. Unfortunately for Georgia Tech, Georgia has all three.

Georgia Tech’s success is due to quarterback TaQuon Marshall. This season, Marshall has thrown for nine touchdowns and only four interceptions. In addition to his passing statistics, Marshall has also run for over 1,000 yards on the ground along with 17 rushing touchdowns. Georgia Tech prides itself on its unique triple option rushing attach and one can expect to see a heavy dose of it against the Bulldogs on Saturday.

As for my prediction, I gotta side with Georgia. Georgia’s defense has looked like an elite unit for the entire season and I expect the Bulldogs to slow down the Yellow Jackets’ option attack on Saturday. I think that Georgia will run the ball down their throats and win this game by double digits.

After 12 weeks of college football, there is a contest between two Big Ten powerhouses. These teams are the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines. Both teams started the season with similar goals as both teams hoped to compete for a conference championship. Ohio State was ranked in the AP preseason top five rankings and was expected to compete for a college football playoff spot under coach Urban Meyer. Ohio State is currently the ninth ranked team in the college football rankings and will look to remain in playoff contention. Meanwhile, Michigan unranked after losing to Wisconsin last week and will attempt to rejoin the top 25 once again with a victory this Saturday.

The Ohio State Buckeyes started off their season in disappointing fashion by losing to Oklahoma in the second game of the season. However, the Buckeyes rallied and won their next six games including a victory over Penn State. The Buckeyes looked like a potential candidate to win the NCAA championship. However, the Buckeyes got upset by conference rival Iowa shortly thereafter and fell in the rankings as a result. Ohio State have dominated in the two games since that upset loss but it might be too late for the team to salvage their title hopes.

Ohio State’s success is due to star quarterback J.T. Barrett. So far this season, Barrett has thrown for 32 touchdowns and only seven interceptions along with over 2,600 yards passing. Barrett has also rushed for eight touchdowns this season and will look to stay in the Heisman race against Michigan on Saturday. Barrett entered the season with the hopes of being drafted in the upcoming NFL Draft. If Barrett continues to play like he has in the first 12 weeks, he should be selected in the latter half of the NFL Draft.

Michigan’s season started with a ton of uncertainties. Michigan lacked experience in the majority of its defense and experts were concerned about how quickly these players would adapt to college level competition. Michigan’s defense responded and is currently 11th in all of college football in points allowed per game. At the moment, the biggest concern for the Wolverines is starting quarterback John O’Korn. So far this season, he has thrown for only one touchdown along with five interceptions. However, O’Korn is still a senior quarterback who knows how to win big games in college football.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Ohio State. The Wolverines have a major disadvantage at quarterback and I expect it to show on Saturday. I expect Barrett to play well and lead the Buckeyes to a double digit victory.

UFC Fight Night 122 is right around the corner! After 12 weeks on the college football season, there is an extremely important Big Ten game between Minnesota and Wisconsin. Wisconsin’s season started with extremely high expectations. The Badgers were in the preseason top ten according to the AP poll. Currently, the Badgers are ranked fifth in the country and boast an undefeated record. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Gophers are currently 5-6 and are looking for a huge win to qualify for a bowl game.

Wisconsin’s success so far this season is due, in large part, to freshman running back Jonathan Taylor. Taylor has looked amazing this season with 1,657 yards rushing and 12 rushing touchdowns. Taylor entered the season behind both Bradrick Shaw and Chris James on the depth chart but became the undisputed starter after his amazing 223 yard performance against Florida Atlantic back in early September. Taylor’s success has also led to more opportunities in the passing game via play-action passes which could lead to some big passing plays against overly aggressive defenses.

Minnesota’s season started with a ton of uncertainties. At the moment, the biggest concern for the Gophers is starting quarterback Demry Croft. This season, Croft has looked terribly and has thrown for four touchdowns along with seven interceptions. Last week, Croft only completed two of his 11 pass attempts and threw three interceptions as the team got shutout by Northwestern. If Minnesota plans on winning this contest, Croft will need to perform a lot better.

As for my prediction, I will side with Wisconsin. I think that Wisconsin’s defense will keep Croft in check as Taylor leads the Badgers with over 100 yards rushing. I think it will be a low scoring game where the Badgers win by a few possessions.

Former Oregon coach Chip Kelly is making a return to college football, as he has been named the next head coach at UCLA, all the while being considered for a similar job in Florida. Set to be formally introduced as the Bruins’ head coach this Monday, Kelly will be taking the place of Jim Mora, who had been fired earlier in November after the school’s third straight loss after being with the Bruins for six seasons. Kelly is also taking the position from offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch, who held the position of head coach in the interim.

Chip Kelly’s net worth: $23.3 million

With his new position for UCLA, Kelly agreed to a five-year contract said to be worth $23.3 million with a $9 million reciprocal buyout. Since you don’t get to sign such a pricy contract without a few tricks under your belt, let’s take a look at Kelly’s life to see how he came to this position.

The Early Years

A native of New Hampshire, Kelly started on the other side of college football, playing as a quarterback and a defensive back while in high school and while attending the University of New Hampshire. His first role in coaching came at Columbia University in 1990, where he served as the secondary and special teams coach for the freshman team.

2007-2012

In 2007, Kelly was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Oregon Ducks; he would eventually rise to the position of head coach two years later. In this position, he won many titles, such as both the 2009 and 2010 Pac-10 Coach of the Year.

2013-2015

In early 2013, Kelly became the head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. While initially helping the team to turn the tide from the previous year, at a 10-6 record, the team lost in the first round of playoffs and failed to make playoffs the following year. The year after that, however, saw Kelly rise to the position of head of football operations. His role with the Eagles was eventually terminated in late 2015.

2016-Present

After leaving the Eagles, Kelly was quickly hired to become the new head coach for the San Francisco 49ers. While he was eventually fired after the team’s loss to the Seahawks, before the year was out, he eventually hired to be the head football coach at UCLA.

As UCLA Director of Athletics Dan Guerrero said in a statement:

I am thrilled to welcome Chip Kelly to Westwood…His success speaks for itself, but more than that, I firmly believe that his passion for the game and his innovative approach to coaching student-athletes make him the perfect fit for our program. ‘Champions Made Here’ is more than just a mantra at UCLA, and I’m confident that Chip will lead UCLA Football back to competing for championships. I’d like to thank Josh Rebholz, Casey Wasserman and Troy Aikman for their input during this process, as their candor, experience and support were invaluable.

According to ESPN, Kelly proclaimed how:

When preparing for a live show, television networks have developed various ways to prevent anything inappropriate from accidentally airing, whether it be a slight second delay or playing prerecorded music. Still, suggesting a taped show and just saying it was filmed live might be pushing it. The hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, learned this the hard way when a “live” episode meant to air the day after Thanksgiving accidentally gave away that it was filmed two days before.

‘Yeah, that was a great Thanksgiving’

Brzezinski opened the show by saying, “The day after Thanksgiving, woo! I’m stuffed!” Scarborough chimed in with comments about old turkey and football, adding, “Yeah, that was a great Thanksgiving.” In reality, however, the episode was filmed the day before Thanksgiving.

Viewers realized what had happened when an attack in Egypt, which claimed the lives of 305 people, occurred during the “live” show with neither of the hosts commenting on it. In addition, the network was aware of the attack, as a news ticker which played beneath the show throughout the broadcast made reference to the attack, according to Daily Mail.

A show executive later confirmed that the show had not been filmed live. In a statement with The Washington Post, it was confirmed, “There was no intention to trick viewers,” adding that while there was no attempt to add a disclaimed assuring the broadcast, it is not something that is “typically done.”

Viewers responded to the incident, including the one who first noticed what happened

Viewers took to social media to voice their annoyance with the incident, with the one who reportedly noticed the incident in the first place saying, “I was quite flabbergasted by the way they were so deceptive about this…especially when they are always so quick to castigate lying [or] deception they attribute to others,” in a statement.

With 12 weeks of college football in the books, there is a clash between two top 25 programs. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are currently 9-2 and are looking to prove that it is truly the eighth best team in the country. As for Stanford, the Cardinal are currently 8-3 and look to remain in the top 25. Both teams are on the outside looking into a college football playoff spot but a win against a ranked team would definitely help each of their resumes.

Notre Dame’s success is due to star running back Josh Adams. This season, Adams already has over 1,300 yards rushing along with nine rushing touchdowns. Adams is currently averaging a whopping 7.8 yards per carry and looks like one of the best running backs in all of college football. If Adams gets going behind the Irish’s elite offensive line, there is no chance that Stanford will be able to win this contest.

Stanford’s success is due to star running back Bryce Love. So far this season, Love already has over 1,700 yards rushing along with 16 rushing touchdowns. Love is currently averaging a whopping 8.8 yards per carry and also looks like one of the best running backs in all of college football. If Love continues to dominate like he has all season, then it is very unlikely that Notre Dame will win this contest.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Notre Dame. I think that Adams will have a big game due to the elite nature of Notre Dame’s offensive line. Stanford’s quarterback is slightly inferior to Notre Dame’s and I think that will play a huge role in this contest. I think Notre Dame wins by a touchdown or so.

Film and television actor Rance Howard, the father of actor and director, Ron Howard, and actor, Clint Howard, has died at the age of 89.

As his son, Ron, confirmed in a statement on social media:

Clint & I have been blessed to be Rance Howard’s sons. Today he passed at 89. He stood especially tall 4 his ability to balance ambition w/great personal integrity. A depression-era farm boy, his passion for acting changed the course of our family history. We love & miss U Dad

At this time, specific details, including the cause of death, are unclear. In addition to his two sons, he is also survived by his granddaughters, Bryce Dallas Howard and Paige Howard.

Rance & Ron made their film debuts together

Born in Oklahoma, in 1928, Rance got his start as an actor in 1940’s New York as part of a touring company. Making acting a family affair, Rance and his older son, Ron, made their film debuts together at the same time with the 1956 western film, Frontier Woman. Around this time, he also started to make his debut on television, as well.

Rance was heavily involved with his sons’ work

Rance also notably appeared in different faculties on the shows his sons worked on, including The Andy Griffith Show, in which his son Ron played Opie, and Gentle Ben, which starred his son, Clint; Rance also served as a writer on the latter show. Even well into the 2010’s, Rance often appeared in many of the films directed by his son, Ron, such as 2005’s Cinderella Man or 2009’s Angels & Demons.

He was still a hard-working actor in his own right

At the time of his death, Rance has appeared in over 100 films. He also appeared in six movies that were nominated for the best-picture Oscar, The Music Man, Chinatown, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon and Nebraska.

Do you hear that? Those are still the sweet sounds of chaos permeating throughout the college football landscape. While Alabama’s loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl was clearly the most exciting upset of the weekend, the demise of Notre Dame and Washington State were also equally essential in determining the remaining programs that still have a chance at making the College Football Playoff. With Conference Championships the final opportunity for Playoff contenders to strengthen their resumes (or choke away their only chance of making the Playoff), this will arguably be the most intriguing and problematic weekend of the season in terms of sifting through the remnants of those programs still left standing. Do Alabama and Georgia have a chance to break back into the top four or have the best teams in the country already cemented their place in the postseason?

1. Clemson Tigers

Some chaos at the top combined with an impressive win over South Carolina has forced Clemson into the top spot this week. The secondary of the Tigers looked much more opportunistic than they have in recent weeks as they picked off Gamecocks quarterback Jake Bentley twice to seal their final regular-season victory. If quarterback Kelly Bryant can work his athletic magic while completing some big-time passes downfield against Miami coming up, the Tigers could very well be the number one seed when the final rankings are revealed on Sunday.

2. Oklahoma Sooners

As has been the case all season, the Sooners will go as far as quarterback Baker Mayfield can take them. While their defense has played better in recent weeks, it will most likely struggle mightily against Playoff programs assuming the Sooners make it into the final bracket. With another emphatic win over the Horned Frogs in the BIG 12 Championship Game, the Sooners could not only make the Playoff but will have one of the deadliest and most prolific offenses out of the top-four teams.

3. Auburn Tigers

As of right now, the impressive Iron Bowl victory over Alabama has to feel somewhat bittersweet as the health of running back Kerryon Johnson is still up in the air for next week. Still, the Tigers have to be eternally grateful that they have a reliable passer in Jarrett Stidham (completed 75% of his passes against Alabama). Out of all of the programs competing in Conference Championship games, the Tigers have to be the most anxious team as they remain cautiously hopeful that Johnson will be ready to go come Saturday.

4. Wisconsin Badgers

With the defense continuing to play at an insanely high level combined with the improved quarterback play of quarterback Alex Hornibrook (three touchdowns, zero interceptions against Minnesota), the Badgers look like a physically fierce National Title contender. If the Badgers can take out Ohio State in the BIG 10 Championship game, they will have the requisite victory needed to compete in the College Football Playoff.

5. Alabama Crimson Tide

Although the Crimson Tide no longer have control of their Playoff fate, they have to feel better than most in that they need just a little bit of chaos at the top to clinch a spot. With a healthy defense, Alabama would be a serious force to compete against and their prolific rushing game has been difficult to contain this season. Until the final rankings come out next week, the Crimson Tide need to focus on getting their injured players healthy regardless of who or where they play in the postseason.

6. Georgia Bulldogs

With the Bulldogs controlling their own destiny going into the SEC Championship Game against Auburn, this is the perfect situation for a program that is on the outside looking in to steal a Playoff Spot. While the Bulldogs struggled mightily to contain the rushing attack of the Tigers the last time they faced them, running back Kerryon Johnson sustained what appeared to be a significant shoulder injury against Alabama, which would certainly give the Bulldogs a much-needed edge in the matchup.

7. Ohio State Buckeyes

After pulling away in “The Game” on the road against Michigan, the Buckeyes are now overflowing with confidence and have a realistic chance of making the Playoff if they can take out Wisconsin in the BIG 10 Championship game. However, with J.T. Barret going off the field with an injury in the second half against Michigan, the Buckeyes may have to rely on freshman quarterback Dwayne Haskins (who performed well against the Wolverines) to command an offense that will have to perform nearly flawlessly to overcome a formidable Badgers defense.

8. Miami Hurricanes

Although a road loss to Pittsburgh was less than ideal, the Hurricanes could easily redeem themselves and force themselves right back into the Playoff conversation with a win over Clemson in the ACC Championship Game. However, the benching of quarterback Malik Rosier in the Hurricanes loss is definitely a cause for concern as Miami will need to decide quickly how to best fix their sputtering offense before next week.

9. Penn State Nittany Lions

Considering where the Nittany Lions were before they played Ohio State (undefeated, a Playoff berth in hand) to where they are now since losing to the Buckeyes (two losses, will not compete in BIG 10 Championship game), Penn State is the epitome of a Playoff caliber team that regressed every so slightly at the worst possible moment. With that being said, the Lions will certainly compete in a New Years Six bowl and will get one last chance to show off the abilities of running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Trace McSorley before both depart for the NFL Draft.

10. USC Trojans

Unless there is immense chaos at the top of the rankings (which is certainly feasible), the Trojans chances of making the Playoff are slim to none. However, with quarterback Sam Darnold playing like every fan and pundit thought he would during the latter half of the season, the Trojans have to feel insanely confident going into the PAC-12 Championship Game against Stanford. If running back Ronald Jones II can be as prolific against Stanford as he has been all season, the Trojans will have a deadly offense that will truly test the abilities of the Cardinal’s proficient defense.

11. Washington Huskies

Similar to the Horned Frogs, the Huskies will most likely have a painful retrospective moment when they look back on their two regular-season losses, which most likely cost them a spot in the Playoff. Even more unfortunate is the fact that the Huskies will not get a chance to bolster their resume in the PAC-12 Conference Championship game. Still, Washington has to feel pleased that they handily beat their in-state rival in Washington State, garnered 10 wins on the season and will receive a berth to a high-profile bowl game, which is not a bad consolation prize when all is said and done.

12. TCU Horned Frogs

Although there may be a time when TCU looks back on their two regular-season losses and wonders what could have been, a rematch against a Sooners team that beat them soundly a few weeks ago should effectively stoke the fires of the well-rounded Horned Frogs. While Kenny Hills return as the starting quarterback for TCU is encouraging, facing the Heisman front-runner in quarterback Baker Mayfield will either be a glorious swan song moment or a glaring demerit for the senior quarterback.

13. UCF Knights

While you have to give a tremendous amount of credit to quarterback Quinton Flowers and the South Florida Bulls for pushing the Knights to their absolute competitive limits, quarterback McKenzie Milton effectively used every weapon in his vast arsenal to win a crucial game for Central Florida (five total touchdowns). Assuming the Knights can win in a rematch against Memphis in the American Athletic Conference Championship Game, this is a program that is more than worthy of being rewarded with a New Years Six bowl berth.

14. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

What happened to Notre Dame’s once seemingly unstoppable rushing attack? While there are certainly numerous assertions that could clarify the Fighting Irish’s offensive ineptitude, it’s hard to imagine there is a sound reason for this team precipitous fall from grace. Given how poor the Fighting Irish were at passing the football (175.8 PYPG), some cynics will claim to be relatively unsurprised by the demise of Notre Dame down the stretch. However, when you look at Notre Dame’s entire body of work and realize that they were able to manhandle the elite defensive line of NC State and almost beat Georgia earlier in the season, it becomes apparent that is one of the more head-scratching breakdowns in college football this season.

15. Michigan State Spartans

Given how inconsistent the Spartans offense has been this year, this program has to be fairly pleased that they finished with nine wins on the season. Better still, sophomore quarterback Brian Lewerke showed flashes of veteran composure in high-pressure affairs against elite BIG 10 programs. However, the Spartans need to bolster their offense as a whole if they want to compete for a Conference Championship and, ultimately, a spot in the College Football Playoff next season.

16. LSU Tigers

If there is any program that is trending upwards rapidly going into next season it’s the LSU Tigers. Given how young and ruthless their defense is (18.8 PAPG), the Tigers simply need a confident passer to lead an offense that needs a bit more gusto to compete with the big boys in the SEC West. While running back Derrius Guice will most likely forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft, he would be remiss if he did not at least consider coming back for one last ride for a program that is one vital piece away from competing for a National Title.

17. Oklahoma State Cowboys

Finishing behind both TCU and Oklahoma, the Cowboys have to feel slightly disappointed that they are unable to compete in the BIG 12 Championship Game. Given how productive the Cowboys offense was this year (46.3 PPG), their three losses have to, in retrospect, sting tremendously. With quarterback Mason Rudolph, along with wideouts Marcel Ateman and James Washington departing for NFL Draft after this season, the Cowboys will have a difficult task at attempting to reload their roster while staying competitive in a ruthless BIG 12 Conference next season.

18. Stanford Cardinal

You can discredit the Cardinal’s lack of a dynamic offense all you want. However, when Bryce Love is in your backfield and your defense is ranked 25th in points allowed per game (20.7), it becomes an easier said than done notion when it comes to stopping it. With their most recent victory over a now dazed and confused Notre Dame program, the Cardinal emphatically proved that their competitive style is highly effective and sophomore quarterback K.J. Costello looked decisive and determined for the first time all season (four touchdowns, zero interceptions against Notre Dame). While the PAC-12 Championship game against USC will provide a unique challenge for the Cardinal on both offense and defense, this program is more than up to the task of winning the conference.

19. Memphis Tigers

With their lone loss coming at the hands of the UCF Knights, the Tigers will be out for blood in the American Athletic Conference Championship Game. Sure, the Tigers defense is poor (30.8 PAPG), but their potent passing attack is amongst the best in college football (327.1 PYPG, 44.3 PPG). Even if the Tigers were to ultimately succumb to the Knights next week, their 10 wins on the season are nothing to scoff at and should allow them to compete in a fairly high-profile bowl game.

20. Northwestern Wildcats

After starting the season with a less than impressive 2-3 record, the Wildcats finally woke up and began playing disciplined defense (19.8 PAPG) while quarterback Clayton Thorson embraced the role of a cerebral game manager. With wins against Iowa and Michigan State during their seven-game winning streak, the Wildcats proved that they could compete and win tight games against reputable conference opposition.

21. Washington State Cougars

Once again, the solid albeit inconsistent defense of the Cougars was outmatched by a prolific rushing attack, this time at the hands of Washington Huskies running back Myles Gaskin (192 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns). While a 9-3 record is still terrific, their three losses were all blowouts, something that will definitely sting as the Cougars are forced to watch the PAC-12 Championship Game from their couches. Still, Luke Falk is an exciting quarterback and should draw some interest from several NFL teams as we get closer to draft day.

22. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Despite a disappointing loss to in-state rival Ole Miss on Thanksgiving, the Bulldogs should be more pleased than downtrodden with how this year transpired. Sure, losing three out four games to ranked opponents was not ideal, but when you consider that those defeats came at the hands of Georgia, Auburn and Alabama (all teams that have a chance to make the Playoff by the end of next week), it becomes readily apparent that this team was more resilient than competitively inept. With quarterback Nick Fitzgerlad most likely unavailable for postseason play, the Bulldogs will need to reinvigorate the fearlessness that has kept them competitive in the face of adversity this season.

23. Virginia Tech Hokies

Although the season could be considered somewhat of a disappointment for a program that at one point had an outside chance of making the Playoff, the Hokies bore down defensively in their last two victories, finishing the season with an impressive 9-3 record. While it has not always been pretty, for a team that was starting a freshman quarterback in Josh Jackson, it could have been a much more turbulent year for Virginia Tech. While stud wideout Cam Phillips will depart the program for the NFL Draft after this year, Jackson has shown flashes of greatness and has the potential to not only transform this program into a sleeper Playoff contender but to become an intriguing Heisman candidate at some point next year.

24. Fresno State Bulldogs

While the defense of the Bulldogs should be incredibly proud of how they man-handled Boise State on Saturday, they will have to regroup and attempt to stifle the Broncos again in the Mountain West Conference Championship Game. Win or lose next week, the Bulldogs should take immense pride in the fact that they put together a great season and should have quarterback Marcus McMaryion back for his senior year, allowing this exciting program to reach even greater heights.

25. San Diego State Aztecs

Despite their two losses to conference opponents Boise State and Fresno State earlier in the season, the Aztecs actually have a fairly impressive non-conference resume (wins against Stanford and Arizona State). Thanks to a sensational running game led by Rashaad Penny (2027 rushing yards, 7.4 yards per rush attempt, 19 rushing touchdowns), the Aztecs have a consistently explosive offense. Combined with a stingy (18.4 PAPG), it becomes apparent that the Aztecs are actually a competitive, well-rounded program that should be overjoyed with how their season turned out.

Japan’s government is being urged by experts to slowly release one million tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean after the Fukushima power plant had been overwhelmed by a tsunami six years ago.

The levels of contaminated water is growing by day

With the water currently being stored in around 900 large tanks, there is the concern that if the tanks break, it might not be possible to control the contents. That said, most of the radioactive elements of the water were said to have been removed through treatment, with the exception of tritium, which is believed to be safe in small amounts.

According to experts, the release of nuclear tritium water is permitted at other nuclear plants. It is believed that if the current plan to release the water into the ocean goes through, then it could take up to a decade to carry out. According to a version of the plan that came to light last year, the nuclear water would need to be diluted around 50 times a day, with 400 tons being released to the sea each day.

While currently at one million tons, the amount of radioactive water at Fukushima is increasing, however, at around 150 tons a day, due to mixing with nearby groundwater. This especially becomes a growing concern during heavy rains. To combat the water already, dozens of wells and even an “underground ice wall” have been developed to help prevent groundwater before it reaches the nuclear water.

Fishermen have opposed the idea

Local fishermen have reportedly opposed the idea, as it has the potential to harm fish who live in the waters, although tests have claimed the fish exposed to the water would be safe to eat.

That said, some have argued that even if the fish were safe, people would still be reluctant to consume the fish, which in turn could hurt fishermen. One such figure, Fumio Haga, a drag-net fisherman, added, “People would shun Fukushima fish again as soon as the water is released,” according to Daily Mail. Reduced demand for fishermen has also limited around half of the region’s fisherman to working only around twice a week.
