New York Mall Shooting

An American Eagle store located at the Galleria at Crystal Run mall in New York had been evacuated because of an active shooter.

The incident began at about 3:15 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 26. According to witnesses, there was a large police response to the scene.

According to initial reports, there had been two gunshot victims, with the mall being held on lockdown. At this time, a motive for the shooting is not known. Reportedly, it is unclear at this time if this is an isolated incident.

UPDATE: The Woodbury Police Department later released a statement assuring that it is believed that shooting was caused by an accidental firearm discharge. The round hit the floor, then hit nearby glass and hurt the two people who were reported injured, in a statement on Facebook. At this time, however, it has been said that the reports were unconfirmed:

At this time, what we are hearing was that the shooting was an accidental discharge from a firearm. A round hit the floor then ricocheted off of glass injuring people. People have minor injuries from the glass shards, AND NO FATALITIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED AT THIS TIME. No one can confirm an active shooter entering or exiting the mall. The Galleria has been placed on lock down as normal protocol and police are still investigating at this time. Again, reports are still unconfirmed and we will update you as soon as we get more information available. Thank you

At this time, police have not confirmed whether or not the shooting had taken place or if there had been any victims. However, the Arlington Police have released the following statement on social media:

This notably occurred around the time a shooting had also happened at Galleria at Crystal Run mall in New York, with two people being injured.

Dan Mullen Net Worth 2017: How Much Is Florida Gators Coach Worth?

The University of Florida hired Dan Mullen, previously the head coach at Mississippi State University, to serve as the head coach of the Florida Gators. Interestingly enough, Mullen actually has had worked for the school in the past, although he did not start out as a head coach. Let’s take a look at how Mullen managed to work his way up to the top, including his education and career, starting at a look at his net worth and salary.

Dan Mullen’s Net Worth: $4,200,000

In 2016, Mullen made around $4,200,000, which had seen a $200,000 increase compared to the previous year. Currently, however, information about Mullen’s contract with the Florida school is not yet available. That said, the University of Florida is probably interested in keeping their new head coach happy, especially one who has proven himself over the years. Let’s take a look at his career.

The Early Years

Instagram Photo

A Pennsylvania native, Mullen got into the game playing in high school, attending the Trinity High School of Manchester, New Hampshire. Going on to play for Ursinus College, he got his first chance at coaching while studying at Wagner College, coaching wide receivers.

1997-2007

Instagram Photo

Mullen isn’t a novice at the University of Florida, as the school hired him as an offensive coordinator before he got his first head coaching job. He also served as a quarterback coach for the University of Utah.

2008-Present

Instagram Photo

In late 2008, Mullen was hired to serve as the head coach of Mississippi State. Proving himself, in late 2016, Mullen made history after he became the first football coach to win a bowl game, even with a losing record on the season. Proving a good force for the school, he had even been offered a four0year contract that would have lasted until 2021 before he had been hired by Florida.

In a statement with ESPN, Mullen talked about his new appointment:

I have such great memories of the championships we won during our time here and have a love for Florida. We are happy to be coming back to such a supportive administration, staff, student body and fan base, which is the premier football program in the country.

We will give relentless effort in everything that we do on and off the field. Our commitment will match the passion that the Gator Nation has for this program.

Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin also had a few choice words for Mullen:

I strongly believe Dan is the most prepared candidate to have immediate and long-term success at the University of Florida. Coach Mullen is one of the best offensive minds in all of college football, and has an unbelievable track record in tutoring successful quarterbacks (such as Alex Smith, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Dak Prescott and Nick Fitzgerald).

Coach Mullen will do a tremendous job in developing accountability and toughness through a well-coordinated strength and conditioning program. Dan will work closely with the coaching staff, academic advising staff and administrative team to give every student athlete he coaches the opportunity to grow and excel at a high level athletically, academically and socially.

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, the 22-year-old South Africa representative, won the Miss Universe crown at The AXIS theater at Planet Hollywood casino in Las Vegas.

Nel-Peters is the second representative from South Africa to win the crown, defeating Miss Colombia and Miss Jamaica. The competition’s top 13 finalists were Thailand, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Spain, Ireland, Croatia, Great Britain, USA, Brazil, Canada, Philippines, Venezuela and China.

Nel-Peters, just 22-year-old, recently earned a business management degree before winning her crown. She earned a yearlong salary, a luxury apartment in New York City for the duration of her reign and more prizes.

Laura Gonzalez, Miss Colombia, was the first runner-up, while the second runner-up was Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett. In total, ninety-two women from all over the globe participated in the competition. This year’s edition had the most contestants ever, including the first representatives in its history of Cambodia, Laos and Nepal.

“In some places, women get paid 75% of what men earn for doing the same job, working the same hours — and I do not believe that this is right. I think we should have equal work for equal pay for women all over the world.”

According to Fox News, Nel-Peters, from the South African coastal community of Sedgefield in the Western Cape province, helped develop a program to train women in self-defense in various situations after she was robbed at gunpoint a month after she was crowned as Miss South Africa.

Greg Schiano Net Worth 2017: How Much Is Ohio State DC Worth Right Now?

Greg Schiano is the current Defensive Coordinator of the Ohio State Buckeyes football team and the former head football coach at Rutgers University from 2001 to 2011. Schiano also coached the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2012 to 2013.

Greg Schiano Net Worth 2017: $4.5 Million

Greg Schiano, the former head football coach at Rutgers University and current defensive coordinator at Ohio State University, is worth approximately $4.5 million.

1990-2010

Schiano began his coaching in 1988 as an assistant coach at Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.

In 1989, Schiano served as a graduate assistant at Rutgers. In 1990, he took the same position at Penn State, and later served as the defensive backfield coach there from 1991 until 1995. From 1996 to 1998, Schiano was an assistant coach in the NFL with the Chicago Bears.

For his first two seasons there, he was a defensive assistant and then was promoted in his third and final season with the Bears to defensive backfield coach.

Schiano served as defensive coordinator for the University of Miami from 1999 to 2000. In 1999, Miami finished the year ranked 12th in the NCAA’s Division I-A in points allowed per game (17.2), and in 2000 moved up to 5th (15.5 points allowed per game). His brief 18-month stint at Miami and his roots in New Jersey made him a candidate for his next position as head coach at Rutgers University.

2010-Present

On January 26, 2012, Schiano accepted his first head coaching opportunity at the professional-football level, with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers ended the 2012 regular season with a 7–9 record, missing the playoffs in the process. In the 2013–2014 season, the team regressed to 4–12.

On December 30, 2013, the Buccaneers fired Schiano along with Mark Dominik, the general manager who had selected him.

In 2016, after two seasons coaching Berkeley Preparatory School and sending two players to Davidson College in North Carolina, Schiano was hired by head coach Urban Meyer to serve as defensive coordinator/associate head coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes football program.

On November 26, 2017, the University of Tennessee was set to announce Schiano as the head football coach. However, controversy sparked by social media regarding Schiano’s tenure at Penn State and alleged involvement in the Penn State child sex abuse scandal led to both parties backing out of the deal.

College Basketball Power Rankings 2017: Week 4 Rankings

Duke University

(Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

As always, the last week of tournament play did not disappoint. Duke was down at halftime in all three of their tournament affairs and still managed to win. The Texas A&M Aggies looked legitimately competitive on both offense and defense in their tournament win over USC. Amongst the more dubious accomplishments was the second-ranked team in the country (Arizona) losing three games in a row in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. These are just a few snippets of what was an immensely entertaining week of college basketball and the intensity will only continue to elevate as straight up, compelling non-conference play commences.

1. Duke Blue Devils

It would be fair for fans and pundits to be somewhat concerned with this team’s unsustainable propensity to have to come back time after time. However, just looking at the nearly unprecedented talent of Marvin Bagley (22.3 PPG, 11.3 RPG) and it becomes abundantly clear that this program can overcome any deficit, against any team at any time. With the veteran and fearless shooting presence of senior guard Grayson Allen (43.9 3P%) and the passing prowess of freshman guard Trevon Duval (6.5 APG), the Blue Devils have the talent and coaching to only get better as the season wears on.

2. Kansas Jayhawks

The presumptive kings of the BIG 12, the Jayhawks are loaded with veteran and youthful talent. Senior guard Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk has done an incredible job at embracing his position as the Jayhawks go-to scorer (18.8 PPG) while sophomore guard Udoka Azubuike has come into his own as both a trusted shooter (16.8 PPG, 77.6 FG%) and tenacious rebounder (7 RPG). This is just a small sample of the talent-laden Jayhawks, who do not appear to have any glaring weaknesses at this point in the season.

3. Villanova Wildcats

Even with the Wildcats struggling to put together a complete game, they have still managed to remain undefeated thanks to having both a great defense (63 PAPG) and offense (84.5 PPG). With junior guard Jalen Brunson leading his team in scoring (18.7 PPG) and assists (4.3 APG), the Wildcats have a strong veteran presence with great instincts when it comes to making the right play to help his team consistently succeed. With coach Jay Wright running the show from the sidelines, the Wildcats will only continue to improve on both sides of the ball, which is a scary thought considering how elite they already are.

4. Michigan State Spartans

Despite playing poorly on offense in their win against North Carolina, the Spartans defense was consistently oppressive as it held an incredibly talented Tar Heels program to just 45 points. With that said, the Spartans will be in some trouble if they continue to turnover the ball over at a rapid pace as their offense will continue to suffer as a result. Nevertheless, the return of sophomore guard Miles Bridges in conjunction with the outside shooting ability of sophomore guard Joshua Langford (47.6 3P%) should allow the Spartans to regroup and improve on their weaknesses.

5. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

If you thought the Fighting Irish were deadly on offense last season, you have to bear witness to what is clearly an equally effective defense this year (60.2 PAPG). Already a fantastic scorer and rebounder, senior forward Bonzie Colson has become a tenacious defender (2.3 BPG, 1.8 SPG), which should allow him to be a top contender for the Wooden Award by the end of the season. As long as Colson can be this dynamic and dominant, he will continually provide the spark for a Fighting Irish program that looks ready to contend for a National Title.

6. Kentucky Wildcats

Since their close loss to Kansas earlier in the season, coach John Calipari has allowed his young team to run wild against four straight cupcake opponents. Freshman forward Kevin Knox has come on as the Wildcats leading scorer (16.1 PPG) while fearlessly using his length to rebound consistently. Although the Wildcats are still fairly raw, the top-notch athleticism is clearly their and Calipari will have his team more than ready once they get another opportunity to face a legitimate opponent.

7. Minnesota Golden Gophers

Where junior forward Jordan Murphy goes (22 PPG, 12.3 RPG) the Golden Gophers will inevitably follow. Aside from Marvin Bagley, Murphy may be the best two-way big man in basketball as he has scored and rebounded in double-figures in the Golden Gophers first five games of the season. Of course, Murphy has a great facilitator by his side in senior guard Nate Mason (4.1 APG, 13.7 PPG), who is more than comfortable with being a relatively unknown contributor to what has been a dominant Minnesota team.

8. Texas A&M Aggies

With wins over West Virginia, Oklahoma State and USC this season, the Aggies are one of the few teams that have proven their greatness this early on in the season. It all starts with junior center Tyler Davis (13.7 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.7 BPG) who has been simply sensational on both sides of the court. However, not to be outdone, junior forward DJ Hogg has taken his game to the next level as both his rebounding numbers (5.1 RPG last year, 7.3 RPG this year) and perimeter shooting percentage (36.7 3P% last year, 52.5 3P% this year) have improved mightily. As no team has come close to dispatching these Aggies yet, Texas A&M should be expected to break into the top-5 sooner rather than later.

9. Miami Hurricanes

For the Hurricanes, the defense is the name of the game (54 PAPG). With sophomore forward Dewan Hall being the teams leading scorer this season (13.4 PPG, has not taken a three-point shot this year), the Hurricanes appear to be relatively content with taking close-range shots while relying on their defense to provide them with numerous possession opportunities. With a highly-aggressive Minnesota program to contend with next, the Hurricanes will quickly discover if their dominant albeit one-dimensional style of basketball is sufficient enough to take down elite programs.

10. Florida Gators

Although the Gators ultimately fell victim to a resilient and tenacious Blue Devils team, they still emphatically displayed their potent offense (99.5 PPG) and impressive ball movement abilities (18 APG). Clearly, junior guard Jalen Hudson is the catalyst for the Gators current offensive surge (21.8 PPG, 47.5 3P%) while senior guard Chris Chiozza is a gritty two-way player (13.2 PPG, 6 RPG, 6.7 APG) that is hard to contain due to his tremendous versatility. Assuming the Gators continue on this frenetic offensive trajectory, this is a program that will seriously challenge both Kentucky and Texas A&M as the best SEC team.

11. Wichita State Shockers

While the loss to Notre Dame was nothing short of devastating, this is a well-coached program that could quickly develop into a national powerhouse. Between the shooting efficiency of sophomore guard Landry Shamet (15.8 PPG, 60 FG%) and the high-flying rebounding abilities of senior forward Rashard Kelly (8.8 RPG), the Shockers have some great players who know how to play their defined roles to near perfection. Although the offense will need to improve to take down the elite opposition, the talent and discipline are there for this program to grow and succeed as the season progresses.

12. North Carolina Tar Heels

Despite a dreadful loss to Michigan State in the PK80 tournament, the Tar Heels have, for the most part, looked fantastic as a deep offensive unit (84.8 PPG) and as a tenacious rebounding team (43.2 RPG). Now, with that being said, the Tar Heels have to quickly turnaround and beat a great defensive program in Michigan if they hope to put their most recent loss in the rearview mirror.

13. Cincinnati Bearcats

Like most talented programs, the Bearcats have easily dispatched their initial opponents and are chomping at the bit to prove themselves. Luckily for the Bearcats, December is right around the corner with Xavier and Florida equally anxious to sharpen their teeth against a formidable opponent. With the Bearcats offense (88.7 PPG) and defense (58.3 PAPG) currently firing on all cylinders, this is a program that is worth keeping a close eye on in the coming weeks.

14. USC Trojans

If the Trojans learned anything from their whipping at the hands of Texas A&M it is that you have to be more than just a proficient rebounding program (41.8 RPG). For starters, Bennie Boatwright needs to rediscover his efficiency at the free throw line (90.7 FT% last year, 70.8 FT% this year) while Jordan McLaughlin needs to be more than just a savvy ball-facilitator. Without question, the Trojans are a highly-talented program, they just need to look more dynamic and confident on both sides of the ball.

15. Baylor Bears

If senior forward Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. (11.2 RPG, 1.2 BPG) and the Baylor Bears can continue to be this dominant on defense (59.4 PAPG), they could feasibly challenge Kansas for the BIG 12 Title by the end of the season. Until then, Baylor should be more than content with the production they are receiving from their veterans in senior guard Manu Lecomte (19 PPG) and senior forward Terry Maston (11 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 60 FG%). With Xavier and Wichita State on the schedule next, the Bears will look to establish a much more consistent presence offensively while staying true to their effective and relentless defensive nature.

16. Arizona Wildcats

What appeared to be a highly-potent offensive juggernaut initially now looks like a program without an identity. During their three-game losing streak, the Wildcats went from losing a shootout to NC State (90-84) to losing a defensive grudge match to SMU (66-60) and then finally appeared to give up on both sides of the ball in a blowout loss to Purdue (89-64). Considering the Wildcats possess immensely talented assets such as junior guard Allonzo Trier (24.5 PPG) and freshman forward Deandre Ayton (20.3 PPG, 12 RPG), their recent woes become that much more baffling.

17. Gonzaga Bulldogs

If the Bulldogs can address the glaring weakness when it comes to their inconsistent defense, this could be an accomplished, well-rounded program by the end of the season. With senior forward Johnathan Williams leading the team in points per game (17.2) and blocks per game (1.2), the Bulldogs have a tremendous veteran presence that can set the tone every game on both offense and defense. With Creighton and Villanova coming up in December, the Bulldogs can continue to bolster their resume with some more impressive non-conference wins.

18. Louisville Cardinals

While fans of the Cardinals are feeling alright despite the departures of Rick Pitino, the Cardinals 4-0 record could be the calm before the storm. With Purdue (a dangerous scoring program) and Seton Hall (an efficient defensive program) on the schedule next, the Cardinals will have a difficult time relying on their pure shooters. However, if the Cardinals can maintain their tenacity when it comes to rebounding (42.8 RPG), they may have a chance at overcoming both opponents despite their obvious issues when it comes to sharing the ball (14.5 APG).

19. Xavier Musketeers

Without shame, the Musketeers are fully aware that they will live or die by their high-scoring offense (91.2 PPG). Led by senior guard Trevon Bluiett (21.3 PPG, 51.3 sP%), the Musketeers can soundly handle most offensively challenged opposition, but will ultimately stumble against programs that have more talented shooters (see Arizona State) or that can rebound the ball consistently. With Baylor (41.2 RPG) and Cincinnati (47.3 RPG) on the schedule next, the Musketeers will need to be particularly proficient at shooting the basketball.

20. Virginia Cavaliers

As long as Tony Bennet is the coach of the Cavaliers, this is a program that will worry about defense first (52.3 PAPG) and offense second (73.3 PPG). With their last two wins coming over the likes of Vanderbilt and Rhode Island, the Cavaliers continue to prove that their supposedly outdated formula for success is still viable year after year. While the Cavaliers will need a decisive shooter to step up in a big way at some point this season, that can be a cause for concern when a respective opponent can prove that they can consistently score against what could be the best defense in the country.

21. Syracuse Orange

Although the Orange expectedly cruised through a weak five-game stretch to start the season, their defense (57.6 PAPG) and rebounding abilities (46.8 RPG) has the potential to carry this team through what will be a fairly tough three-game stretch (Maryland, Kansas, UConn). Freshman forward Oshae Brissett (9.2 PPG, 11.6 PPG) is already developing into a double-double machine while second-year guard Tyus Battle (48.6 FG%, 20 PPG) is a fearless and reliable shooter. Assuming the Orange can get this same type of production from the aforementioned players, they could quickly emerge has a highly-competitive ACC opponent.

22. Seton Hall Pirates

Despite a tough loss to what appears to be a very good Rhode Island program, the Pirates have stayed true to their relentless defensive style of basketball….and not much else. With senior forward Desi Rodriguez leading the team in points per game (17.8PG) in spite of a paltry perimeter shooting percentage (33.3 3P%), the Pirates are in danger of being exposed by teams that are proficient at guarding the paint. With Texas Tech coming up next, the Pirates will need every bit of senior center Angel Delgado’s rebounding prowess (9.3 RPG) to overcome a formidable BIG 12 opponent.

23. West Virginia Mountaineers

Since losing to Texas A&M in their first game of the season, the Mountaineers appeared to have rediscovered their dominant defensive ways (66.3 PAPG). However, with a close call victory over a Michael Porter-less Missouri program, the Mountaineers clearly still have some kinks to work out when it comes to shutting down the worthy competition. As the Mountaineers do not face a serious opponent until December 5th (Virginia), their place in rankings remains safe…for now.

24. Purdue Boilermakers

After looking dominant offensively during their first four games of the season, the Boilermakers succumbed to two non-conference opponents in Western Kentucky and Tennessee. Although Purdue somewhat redeemed their heartbreaking losses by taking down Arizona, there still has to be some concern about the Boilermakers lack of a true perimeter shooter outside of guard P.J. Thompson (57.1 3P%). However, the Boilermakers can get back on track with a win against a ranked Louisville program this week.

25. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Aside from a win over the Boston College Eagles a couple of weeks ago, the Red Raiders have not been challenged in their five other victories. However, the Red Raiders have certainly looked the part of an elite defensive team (55.3 PAPG) as senior guard Keenan Evans (2 SPG, 15 PPG) has been a tenacious defender for the Red Raiders and could very well be one of the more underrated two-way players in basketball. With Seton Hall next on the schedule, the Red Raiders will finally get an opportunity to prove that their brand of basketball can stifle reputable opposition.

As tournaments across the country come to an end, non-conference contests will become much more intriguing as opponents will have to go on the road to win crucial games. While it’s still very early in the season, programs with serious aspirations of making and competing in the NCAA Tournament will have to be at their best to garner wins that will go towards bolstering their respective resumes by the end of the season. For teams that have been smoothly coasting through their initially weak schedules, they will now be seriously tested against reputable opponents that are likewise seeking an opportunity to make themselves legitimate in the eyes of both fans and pundits.

It Appears Our Least Favorite ‘Game Of Thrones’ House Will Be Returning For The Final Season

HBO

Folks, I hate to get all #math on you, but there are only about 8-9 hours of Game Of Thrones left, which is objectively not good.

And somehow, even though there are only a limited amount of Thrones episodes left, it appears as though some of that time will be reserved for everyone’s least favorite house. That’s right, people, rumor has it that the Freys will be returning for the final run of Thrones.

According to Watchers on the Wall (the go-to GoT forum), a character named “Sarra” will be appearing in an episode during the final season.  Sarra, as it were, is one of Frey’s approximately 1 billion granddaughters.

via Watchers on the Wall:

According to her resume, actress Danielle Galligan will be playing a character named “Sarra” in a season eight episode directed by David Nutter. The only instance of the name Sarra appearing in A Song of Ice and Fire is Sarra Frey, one of Walder Frey’s countless granddaughters.

Whether or not Sarra will actually be a Frey is yet to be seen, but we have a feeling we haven’t heard the last of Walder’s granddaughters yet.

Candace Rice, 24, will be one of the cast members for tonight’s premiere of MTV’s Floribama Shore. Rice is a southern belle from Memphis, Tennessee, “where she saw more gun violence than she cares to remember,” according to her MTV bio.

Rice sees herself as a voice of reason with a “wild side” at times. She was nominated for the title “most likely to be drunk by noon” out of everyone on the cast. Out of all the members of The Jersey Shore, she identifies most with Jenni “JWOWW” Farley. “I like a lot of characteristics about her,” said Rice. “She’s very much the reasonable one in the house, but she kinda has that fighting spirit to her.”

The 24-year-old Memphis-native already has a crazy story to share about an incident that occurred during the taping of Floribama Shore. During the early part of the season, a drunken roommate wandered into Rice’s bed, urinated, and then wandered off to sleep somewhere else. Upon realizing that she was sleeping in piss, Rice became disgusted and accused fellow cast-member Kortni of being the culprit.

What to know more about Candace Rice? Here’s a better look at her MTV bio:

“Candace brings the southern belle to PCB with her big hair, perfectly applied make-up and Instagram — ready outfits. But growing up in Memphis, she saw more gun violence than she cares to remember, so for her, this summer is all about being care-free. Her quick wit and no-nonsense demeanor make her a voice of reason in the house, and she happily takes wild child Kortni under her wing.”

You can find Candace Rice on MTV tonight at 10 P.M. (EST) for the series premiere of Floribama Shore.

MTV’s Floribama Shore will introduce the world to the cute, but goofy Aimee Elizabeth Hall tonight for the show’s official series premiere. Hall is a zany 25-year-old, who describes herself as a “Princess Goddess Mermaid.” According to her MTV bio, Hall is a lady who speaks her mind even if she needs to use a lot of bleeped out words to get her point across.

Hall is a native of Perdido, Alabama. She’s ready to leave her past troubles behind and break out her wild side for the cameras. Not too long ago, this 25-year-old blonde left a troublesome 10-year relationship. Hall sought the warmth of reality television to better mend her wounds and leave the past behind. She initially tried out for the series Party Down South but didn’t make the cut. Now, she’s looking for fun on the Floribama Shore.

“I just got out of a really bad relationship, for 10 years, and to be honest, I just needed a break from home,” Hall said in an interview with AL.com. “I had applied for Party Down South a year ago, and I didn’t get that. But I had just prayed, ‘God, send me on the road. I’m ready.'”

Is Hall really ready for MTV’s Floribama Shore?

Schwifty News: Future Seasons Of ‘Rick and Morty’ Will Have More Episodes

Adult Swim

Rick and Morty is currently the best cartoon on television and it isn’t even close.

Between its mind-bending plot lines, mile-a-minute jokes, or gorgeously creative animation, Rick and Morty is just a step ahead of its competitors. Except when it comes to season length, as they are currently only airing 10 episodes per season.

Back in South Park’s heyday, they were airing at least 14 episodes per season, so there’s no reason why Rick and Morty can’t follow suit. And according to co-creator Dan Harmon, that change isn’t too far away, as he says that the only reason 14-episode-long seasons hasn’t happened yet is due to his perfectionism.

via Entertainment Weekly:

“I mostly blame myself for doing 10 instead of 14. I’m still learning how to do the show efficiently while catering to the perfectionist in all of us. I would like to think I’ve learned enough from my mistakes in season 3 that we could definitely do 14 now, but then I have to say, “Yeah but you’re the guy who says we can do 14 who turned out to be wrong so we’re not listening to you now.” The nice healthy way to approach this is I want to prove it with the first 10 of season 4 — prove it to ourselves, to production, to the network — that it’s so easy that we’ll earn additional episodes. Because I never got this far [working on NBC’s] Community. I felt apart in season 3 of Community and got fired in season 4. Now I’m about to do season 4 of Rick and Morty and want to prove that I’ve grown.”

“My obsessiveness is an enemy that needs to be fought … And that ‘Purge’ episode is fun and great. I can feel it’s “good enough” quality. I think the audience would vote unanimously for the idea of 14 episodes instead of 10 on the condition that 4 of them would be [‘Purge Planet’ level] episodes.”

Given that Rick and Morty at its worst is still better than most cartoons at their best, churning out more episodes makes sense for both the creators and the advertisers.

Week 4, College Basketball Picks 2017: Spread & Predictions

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – MARCH 09: Cheerleaders and dancers for the Minnesota Golden Gophers as the Gophers take on the Michigan Wolverines during the Big Ten Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on March 9, 2012 in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

As top-tier teams slowly begin to complete the relatively easy portion of their schedules, the college basketball landscape will be rife with crazy upsets as well as the emergence of some unforeseen contenders. This week, programs such as Louisville and Miami will look to maintain their highly-competitive reputations against tough non-conference opponents while lesser-known teams such as Seton Hall and Xavier will be determined to stay afloat and relevant in the national limelight. The journey to the NCAA Tournament is still lengthy and arduous, but serious contenders will look to get a head start by bolstering their resumes with highly-impressive victories over the college basketball elite.

Baylor Bears (16) vs. Xavier Musketeers (21)

After sweeping through the first three games of their schedule, the Bears barely overcame two competitive opponents in Creighton and Wisconsin. With those impressive wins, Baylor made it clear that their lockdown defense (59.4 PAPG) led by Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. (11.2 RPG, 1.2 BPG) is more than capable of winning games against the reputable competition. However, Xavier boasts a relentless offensive attack orchestrated by sharpshooter Trevon Bluiett (21.3 PPG) and consummate ball facilitator Quentin Goodin (5.7 APG). While the offense of the Musketeers is deadly and prolific, the size and rebounding prowess of the Bears will ultimately take away crucial opportunities from Xavier.

Final Score: Baylor 86 Musketeers 75 Spread:

Louisville Cardinals (17) vs. Purdue Boilermakers

With a brutal schedule upcoming for the offensively tenacious albeit one dimensional Cardinals, it becomes fair to wonder if this team is destined to become irrelevant in the ACC. While having a gifted shooter such as Deng Adel (17.5 PPG, 54.3 FG%) is incredibly helpful, the lack of a true point guard that can also shoot consistently will make it difficult for the Cardinals to score against tougher opposition. Despite their two recent losses to Tennessee and Western Kentucky, the Boilermakers are still a talented scoring unit (92.1 PPG) and are proficient at moving the ball to their best shooters (19.9 APG). Given the Boilermakers versatility on offense, it’s hard to believe in a Cardinals program that will most likely be done in by their pure, static shooters.

Final Score: Cardinals 87 Boilermakers 90 Spread:

Michigan Wolverines vs. North Carolina Tar Heels (13)

Although the Wolverines up and down offense could hold them back from being truly great, their stingy defense (60.1 PPG) led by forward Mortiz Wager (8.6 RPG) has been their saving grace and could keep them competitively relevant throughout the season. For the Tar Heels, it’s all about bouncing back after losing in blowout fashion to a Michigan State program that was able effectively to intimidate them from the opening tip. If forward Luke Maye (19 PPG, 10 RPG) can get back to being the Tar Heels do it all big man and guard Joel Berry can get hot from beyond the arch, North Carolina will have an excellent chance at pulling off a bounce-back win at home.

Final Score: Wolverines 77 Tar Heels 85 Spread:

Miami Hurricanes (10) vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers (12)

With two programs that play two vastly different styles of basketball, a showdown between Miami and Minnesota holds an immense amount of intrigue. Although the Hurricanes are not particularly opportunistic when it comes to shooting the basketball, their oppressive defense led by the lanky yet fearless Bruce Brown Jr. (8.6 RPG, 1.2 SPG) has been merciless to the point where they held La Salle to 19 total points. However, what the Golden Gophers lack on the defensive side of the ball they more than makeup for with hefty playmakers such as forward Jordan Murphy (22 PPG, 12.3 RPG) and center Reggie Lynch (11.3 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 4.4 BPG). Although the Hurricanes have the coaching and gifted defense to keep this contest competitive, the size and scoring capabilities of the Golden Gophers will be too much for Miami to hold off for an entire game.

Final Score: Hurricanes 67 Golden Gophers 72 Spread:

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5) vs. Michigan State Spartans (3)

A top-five matchup between teams that both have incredible defenses will be a beloved treat for old-school basketball aficionados to enjoy. While the Fighting Irish have not been known for their defensive prowess recently, forward Bonzie Colson has clearly made it known from his glowing stat line (20 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 2.3 BPG, 1.8 SPG) that he can play crushing defense just as well as he can shoot the basketball. For the Spartans, guard Miles Bridges is an instinctual blocker (2 BPG) that can quickly snag rebounds (6.8 RPG) and gracefully move down the court for a quick layup. Even though the Spartans proved their defensive grit is the real deal against North Carolina recently, the fact that Notre Dame can now dominate on both defense and offense will be too arduous a task for Michigan State to overcome.

Final Score: Fighting Irish 84 Spartans 70 Spread:

Creighton Blue Jays (25) vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs (15)

Aside from a close loss to Baylor, the high-octane offense of the Blue Jays (92.5 PPG) has been mostly unstoppable. Guard Marcus Foster is a high-volume, mid-range shooter that can put a game out of reach quickly (18 PPG, 48.8 FG%). It also helps that forward Martin Krampelj (12.5 PPG, 7.2 RPG) provides a physical presence and can rebound effectively, allowing the Blue Jays to garner even more shooting opportunities. While the Bulldogs are not nearly as flashy when it comes to shooting the basketball, they do have an incredible ball facilitator in guard Josh Perkins (4.8 APG) that can also shoot the ball accurately from the perimeter (53.2 3P%). In addition, the Bulldogs also have an efficient rebounder in Jonathan Williams (7.2 RPG), a player that should give them a very slight edge at home.

Final Score: Blue Jays 82 Bulldogs 85 Spread:

Cincinnati Bearcats (11) vs. Xavier Musketeers (21)

A top-25 program on both offense and defense, the Bearcats are a team that is seeking a serious challenge to prove their dominance. On the offensive end, forward Gary Clark is a confident mid-range shooter (53.8 FG%) that also attack the glass with an impressive vigor (8.3 RPG). Defensively, guard Cane Broome has the quick hands to snatch the ball from the opposition (1.5 SPG) and can also shoot the ball when the situation calls for it (10.2 PPG, 53.7 FG%). If Xavier has any hope of pulling off the upset, they will need the natural shooting capabilities of guard Trevon Bluiett (21.3 PPG, 51.3 3P%) and the passing abilities of guard Quentin Goodin (5.7 APG). Even if this comes to pass, the Bearcats have a dominant offense of their own, which will overwhelm the below average defense of the Musketeers.

Final Score: Bearcats 89 Musketeers 78 Spread:

Wichita State Shockers (8) vs. Baylor Bears (16)

While the Shockers were more than capable of beating the Fighting Irish, they fell just short of the accomplishment and ultimately succumbed to the now potent defense of Notre Dame. Although the Shockers may not have the impressive athletes of some programs, they do have cerebral players such as Landry Shamet (15.8 PPG, 60 FG%) and Rashard Kelly (8.8 RPG) that are effective in their own right. Conversely, Baylor does have the pure athletes such as Manu Lecomte (19 PPG, 43.2 3P%) and Terry Maston (8.6 RPG, 11 PPG) that can attack an opposing defense in a multitude of ways. Considering how strong the Bears defense has been this season (59.4 PPG), it’s difficult to imagine the Shockers countering with a fundamentally sound albeit somewhat streaky offense.

Final Score: Shockers 70 Bears 77  Spread:

Kansas Jayhawks (2) vs. Syracuse Orange

With an offense that does not appear to be slowing down (94.2 PPG) combined with a defense that is formidable (62.2 PAPG), the Jayhawks have looked every bit like the BIG 12 juggernauts they are expected to be. While the defense of the Orange has held its own thus far (57.6 PAPG) their offense is limited as only guards Tyus Battle (20 PPG, 48.6 FG%) and Frank Howard (15.8 PPG, 5.2 APG) have the requisite skill sets needed to move and score the basketball consistently. While the Orange may appear to be completely outmatched, this will actually be a great test for a defense that could very well be efficient enough to keep this contest relatively close.

Final Score: Jayhawks 83 Orange 72 Spread:

Seton Hall Pirates vs. Louisville Cardinals (17)

A program that will only go as far as their defense can take them, the Pirates do not attempt to hide their inconsistent offense (79.5 PPG). Yet, Desi Rodriguez provides just enough offensively (17.8 PPG) to allow center Angel Delgado (9.3 RPG) to work his magic on the defensive glass. As mentioned above, the Cardinals are heavily reliant on their prolific offense to win them games, something that will be exposed against opponents that are well-balanced. However, the Cardinals should be able to do just enough in this contest to overcome a scrappy Pirates defense that will keep this game close from start to finish.

Final Score: Pirates 68 Cardinals 71 Spread:

Top 25 College Basketball Rankings 2017: Week 4 AP Poll

Despite being ranked number two in the AP Poll last week, the Arizona Wildcats lost three straight games and were kicked out of the top 25 as a result of their successive failures. However, as one team leaves the rankings another intriguing newcomer ultimately takes their place. It seems apropos then that Arizona State went from being unranked to 20th in the poll at the same time their hated rivals were ousted from the rankings. At 6-0, the Sun Devils have come on strong early in the season and had impressive wins over the likes of San Diego State, Kansas State, and a ranked Xavier program.

Top 25 College Basketball Rankings 2017: Week 3

Another intriguing newcomer to the top 25 is the Texas Tech Red Raiders. With wins over Northwestern and Boston College, the Red Raiders showed more than enough on defense (55.3 PAPG) to convince the voters of the AP Poll that they were worthy of being ranked this week. With an insanely close win over Wichita State, the Fighting Irish forced their way into the top five. Their stingy defense in combination with their prolific offense has the Fighting Irish looking like an early favorite to make the Final Four.

Ranking Team (1st place votes)
1  Duke (65)
2  Kansas
3  Michigan State
4  Villanova
5  Notre Dame
6  Florida

Voted unanimously as the number one team in the country, the Duke Blue Devils had to fight with everything they had to stay undefeated this past week. A close win over Florida most likely sealed the deal as freshman Marvin Bagley has looked like the early favorite to win the Wooden Award thanks to his tenacity on defense and his domineering presence when it comes to dunking the basketball on opposing defenders.

Dropped from rankings: Arizona 2, Purdue 18, Seton Hall 20, Saint Mary’s 21, UCLA 23
Others receiving votes that did not make the poll: Seton Hall 87, Nevada 61, Purdue 56, UCLA 56, Arizona 34, Washington State 25, Texas 22, Arkansas 17, Tennessee 14, Providence 9, Northwestern 8, Rhode Island 6, Georgia 5, Saint Mary’s 5, Oklahoma 3, UNLV 2, Vermont 1, UT Arlington 1, Maryland 1
