Yingying Zhang, a Chinese college student visiting the University of Illinois, has been missing since Friday, June 9.

Zhang’s friends contacted police on Saturday, June 10 after they hadn’t heard from her since she went to an apartment complex to sign a lease on Friday.

On Monday, University of Illinois Police released a video showing the 26-year-old getting off of a bus and into a black Saturn Astra in Urbana around 2 PM on Friday.

University police are currently investigating whether Zhang, an argiculture student, may have use a ride-sharing service before she was reported missing.

via The Champaign News-Gazette:

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the vehicle, a black Saturn Astra. Detectives are also examining her cellphone records and working with ride-hailing companies such as Uber to see if Zhang, a visiting scholar from China, may have arranged for a ride, Wade said.

The video released Monday morning, from the B-4 parking garage on North Goodwin, shows Zhang standing on the east side of Goodwin as the vehicle pulls up beside her. She and the driver speak for some time before she enters the vehicle shortly after 2 p.m., which then continues north on Goodwin Avenue.

“The biggest thing right now is we are asking people to watch that video. Our hope is that someone will recognize the vehicle, or have some information about that encounter that we can follow up on,” University of Illiois Police spokesman Patrick Wade said.

Zhang, a visiting researcher with the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, had arrived at UI in April and was staying at the Orchard Downs complex in Urbana.

According to police, Zhang boarded a Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District Teal line bus at 1:35 PM and got off at 1:52 PM at Springfield and Mathews avenues in Urbana, police said.

Police say she was on her way to the One North apartment complex on North Lincoln Avenue in Urbana to sign a lease.

Police are asking with information to call 911 or university police at 217-333-1216.

$

Every year, major gaming companies spill the beans about upcoming titles before their releases during the E3 Press Conferences, and this year, Microsoft came forward with lots of trailers and sneak previews for upcoming Xbox games. Titles like Anthem and Assassin’s Creed: Origins shook up the scene and helped make Microsoft’s presentation one of the best at E3.

Here are five of the best game showings from their showcase:

#5: Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Release Date: October 10, 2017
Developer: Monolith Productions
Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

Having beat Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, the trailer showed me that Mololith Productions wasn’t ready to end Talion’s adventures just yet. I didn’t like that Microsoft showcased the game’s DLC before its commercial release though.

#4: State of Decay 2

Release Date: 2018
Developer: Undead Labs LLC.
Publisher: Microsoft Studios

The sequel to the much-loved IP State of Decay touched the hearts of zombie apocalypse lovers at E3 with an emotional and disconcerting trailer that showed the formation of a small civilization in its efforts to survive the onslaught of flesh-eating monsters. Worth keeping an eye out for.

#3: Anthem

Release Date: Q4 2018
Developer: BioWare
Publisher: Electronic Arts

Anthem looked way too good to be true. The new IP showed off excellent graphics and facial animations, colorful environments and a promising storyline. The showing featured select gameplay footage from the beginning of the game to show an assortment of cool features, including the different “Javelin” exo-suits. My favorite part of the playthrough was flying using the Javelin’s jet-packs.

#2: Crackdown 3

Release Date: November 7, 2017
Developer: Reagent Games, Sumo Digital, Cloudgine
Publisher: Microsoft Studios

The award-winning Crackdown series continues its legacy with another addition to its crazy, open-world franchise. This time, a new multiplayer mode and better controls and movements were added to amp up the chaotic world.

#1: Assassin’s Creed: Origins

Release Date: October 27, 2017
Developer: Ubisoft
Publisher: Microsoft Studios

The presentation of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Origins was filled with gameplay footage and a new trailer. Some gameplay footage featured a huge assortment of new toys to play with, including a hooked khopesh, shields, polearms and bow and arrows. If you like to splurge on hot special editions, Ubisoft is offering six different versions of the game, including a collector’s edition worth $800. Only 999 of these will be sold.

Texas Police Seize $1 Million Worth Of Meth Lollipops (???)

Evonne Mick and David Salinas, a Texas couple, were arrested on Monday, June 12, after police said they discovered nearly $1million worth of meth-laced lollipops during a raid.

Harris County police were responding to a call about a burglary near Houston when they caught Mick and Salinas leaving the residence and loading a vehicle with drug-laced candy.

Police say the suspects were attempting to load so much of the candy that they couldn’t even close the car door because drugs were so tightly packed.

via Click 2 Houston:

Investigators said they found bags of the drugs loaded into the back seat of the vehicle. Deputies said the suspects couldn’t even close the door because there were so many drugs packed into the vehicle.

Investigators believe a great deal of meth is being distributed on the streets of Harris County in the form of candy.

Deputies said the seizure happened near a school and fear these drugs are targeted towards children. Deputies said the lollipops had several designs like “Batman,” Yoda from “Star Wars,” and there were a butterfly- and flower-shaped candies.

According to authorities, each lollipop could be sold from $20 to $40 depending on the size.

Despite the seizure, police say they believe a huge amount of methamphetamine-laced candy is still being sold on the streets of Harris County. They also said the arrests and seizure happened nearby to a school, prompting fear that the drugs are targeted at children.

Authorities believe there are more possible suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

Kardashians Accuse Kardashian-Looking Woman Of Stealing From Them

Look, I have absolutely zero clue who Destiney Bleu, but I do know that I’ll always take the chance to laugh at the Kardashians, so here we are.

Apparently, this Bleu chick, who ironically looks like a K-Mart version of a Kardashian, has been stealing their fashion designs.

Through her lawyer Martin Singer, Khloe Kardashian, the power forward for the evil empire, accused Bleu of ‘malicious and tortious conduct’ by accusing her of stealing designs.

This is not the first time Zach Randolph Khloe Kardashian has taken legal action against Bleu, as she already threatened legal action for defamation, and accusing Bleu of using her to grab ’15 minutes of fame.’

All of this stems from some bedazzled bullshit, which as far as I can tell, has been around for decades. I’m like 93% sure the first woody I ever popped was thanks to a bedazzled Britney Spears.

Anyway, if you’ve read this far, good for you, because it’s shocking that you care this much. I just wrote this article for the photos. Get outta here.

University College London: Suffers “Ransomware” Cyber-Attack

University College London Ransomware

IFSA-Butler

A contagious “ransomware” cyber-attack just happened to cling onto the marble columns of University College London. Renowned for its premier recognition in academics and “centre of excellence in cyber-security research”, a status awarded by the GCHQ intelligence and monitoring service, it was however embarrassed by an enemy from the web!

The widespread cyber attack began on Wednesday and persisted. On Thursday morning, access to online networks was restricted. Besides that, the university has warned staff and students of the risk of data loss and “very substantial disruption.” The root of this cyber attack was the usage of “phishing” emails, which hold links with destructive software.

I know you might be wondering: what a “ransomware” cyber attack is? I am not your local cyber security expert but I do know that ransomware attacks are where computer systems are locked and threatened with damaging software unless payments are made. Every student and staff member were urged not to open any suspicious emails or links to further prevent the risk of more infection.

Although the situation seems to be under control, a great way to prevent future cyber attacks, especially a “ransomware” kind, is to have an extra blanket of security layers and a solid back-up regime. Even if a strain of malware slithers into a security layer, there will be an active and strong cyber defense.

NCAA Release Sanctions Against The University Of Louisville Basketball Team

The NCAA Committee on Infractions has released their report on the panel’s decision regarding the University of Louisville sex scandal written about in Katina Powell’s book “Breaking Cardinal Rules.”

The committee determined that the former Louisville director of basketball operations acted unethically when he committed serious violations by arranging striptease dances and sex acts for prospects, student-athletes, and others. He also did not cooperate with the investigation.

Furthermore, the Committee on Infractions panel found that Rick Pitino, the head men’s basketball coach, violated NCAA head coach responsibility rules when he did not monitor the activities of his former operations director.

Head coach Rick Pitino will be suspended for the school’s first 5 ACC games this season. The program will remain under probation until 2021.

via NCAA:

Penalties prescribed by the panel include four years of probation for the university; a suspension from the first five Atlantic Coast Conference games of the 2017-18 season for the head coach; a 10-year show-cause order for the former operations director; a one-year show-cause order for a former program assistant; a vacation of basketball records in which student-athletes competed while ineligible from December 2010 and July 2014; men’s basketball scholarship reductions and recruiting restrictions; a fine of $5,000, plus the university must return money received through conference revenue sharing for its appearances in the 2012 to 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championships. The panel also accepted the university’s self-imposed 2015-16 postseason ban.

The former operations director was integral to on-campus recruiting and regularly interacted with visiting prospects. The head coach hired him and placed him in Minardi Hall, a dorm where the basketball team lived, to make sure it was run properly and watch for any potential NCAA violations. By his own admission, the head coach and his assistants did not interact with prospects from 10 p.m. until the next morning.  The panel noted that the head coach essentially placed a peer of the student-athletes in a position of authority over them and visiting prospects, and assumed that all would behave appropriately in an environment that was, for all practical purposes, a basketball dorm.

This arrangement played a role in creating a location where the former operations director’s activities went undetected. The operations director arranged adult entertainment and/or sex acts for 15 prospects, three enrolled student-athletes, a friend visiting with one of the prospects and two nonscholastic coaches. At least seven, and perhaps as many as 10, of the 15 prospects were under the age of 18 at the time. None of the prospects visiting campus knew that the activities would occur and none of them expected the activities to occur on their visits. Some of them expressed surprise and discomfort at what transpired. The panel noted it has not previously encountered a case like this, and that the violations were severe and were intended to provide a substantial recruiting advantage for the university.

“Without dispute, NCAA rules do not allow institutional staff members to arrange for stripteases and sex acts for prospects, enrolled student-athletes and/or those who accompany them to campus,” said the panel in its decision.

The head coach failed to monitor the former operations director when he created the residential environment in which the violations occurred and trusted the former operations director to follow the rules, and delegated monitoring of the former operations director to his assistant coaches without appropriate oversight. The head coach noted his assistant coaches were responsible for monitoring the former operations director. When asked during the investigation, the assistant coaches were unaware of this responsibility. The panel noted that a head coach does not meet his monitoring responsibility by simply trusting an individual to know NCAA rules and to do the right thing.

The former operations director violated multiple NCAA rules when he arranged the activities, including the violation of ethical conduct rules. The panel noted those rules require all staff members to act with honor and dignity, but he instead created an environment that has no place on a college campus.

“NCAA members agree that schools must provide a safe, healthy and positive environment for their student-athletes, not only academically, but in all facets of their lives,” said the panel. “The former operations director, the individual entrusted to keep order at Minardi Hall, created an environment that has no place on a college campus and was directly at odds with college athletics and higher education.”

The former operations director also violated NCAA ethical conduct rules when he did not cooperate and refused to consent to interviews or provide requested records to the NCAA enforcement staff during the investigation.

A former program assistant also failed to fully cooperate in the investigation when he refused to provide requested phone records to the enforcement staff. The records in question were relevant to the investigation and could have helped determine if the former assistant was involved in an incident after the former operations director took a new job at a different school.

Because the violations occurred both before and after the new infractions process, the panel compared the previous penalty structure to the current structure to determine which is more lenient, as outlined in the rule change

You can find the full list of sanctions below:

  • Public reprimand and censure for the university.
  • Four years of probation from June 15, 2017, through June 14, 2021.
  • A suspension from the first five ACC games of the 2017-18 season for the head coach. During the suspension, the head coach may not be present in the arena where the games are played and have no contact with the student-athletes or members of his coaching staff. The head coach also may not participate in any activities including, but not limited to, team travel, practice, video study and team meetings.
  • A 10-year show-cause period for the former operations director from June 15, 2017, through June 14, 2027. During that period, any NCAA member school employing the former coach must restrict him from holding any athletically related duties and from having any contact with prospects and their families.
  • A one-year show-cause order for the former program assistant from June 15, 2017, through June 14, 2018. During that period, any NCAA member school employing him can schedule an appearance before a panel of the COI to determine whether he should be subject to show-cause provisions.
  • A vacation of basketball records in which student-athletes competed while ineligible from December 2010 and July 2014. The university will provide a written report containing the games impacted to the NCAA media coordination and statistics staff within 45 days of the public decision release.
  • A reduction in men’s basketball scholarships by two during the 2016-17 year (self-imposed by the university). Additionally, the university must reduce men’s basketball scholarships by four over the probation period. The university may take the reductions during any year of that period.
  • A prohibition of men’s basketball coaching travel during the April 2016 recruiting period, which resulted in a reduction of men’s basketball recruiting opportunities by 30 (self-imposed by the university).
  • A reduction of recruiting travel during the July 2016 recruiting period by six days (self-imposed by the university).
  • A reduction in the number of men’s basketball official visits to a total of 10 during the 2015-16 year. Additionally, the university will have no more than a total of 16 visits during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 years (self-imposed by the university).
  • During the probation period, men’s basketball prospects on unofficial visits may not stay overnight in any campus dorms or school-owned property.
  • A disassociation of the former operations director (self-imposed by the university). The public decision describes the details of his disassociation.
  • A $5,000 fine (self-imposed by the university). The university must also return to the NCAA the money received through conference revenue sharing for its appearances in the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championships. Future revenue distributions that are scheduled to be provided to the university from those tournaments also must be withheld by the conference and forfeited to the NCAA.
  • A postseason ban for the men’s basketball team for the 2015-16 season (self-imposed by the university).

University Of Hawaii Offers Scholarship To An 11-Year-Old

The University of Hawaii has offered a scholarship to an eleven-year-old quarterback, making him the youngest recruit in the school’s history.

Titan Lacaden, a fifth grader from Kapolei, Hawaii, announced on Twitter that he had received a verbal offer from Hawaii head coach Nick Rolovich.

Lacaden, a native of Hawaii, is the younger brother of former Nevada linebacker Jake Lacaden. While his brother was at Nevada, Hawaii head coach Nick Rolovich was the team’s offensive coordinator.

via ESPN:

“(Rolovich) said he likes Titan and what he does. We both agreed that he’s different, he carries himself differently,” Frank Lacaden said. “They said they want to offer a scholarship and asked me how I felt about it. I know what my older son went through in the recruiting process and it’s difficult, especially with us being in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. So when opportunity knocks, you answer the door.”

Lacaden and his family have been around football on the island of Oahu. The family knows Alabama quarterback signee Tua Tagovailoa, who was the No. 1-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class. Frank Lacaden also coached former Heisman winner Marcus Mariota at St. Louis High School

Rolovich boasted on Twitter to FAU head coach Lane Kiffin, who recently made news for offering scholarships to sixth and seventh graders:

Kiffin offered a scholarship to sixth-grade quarterback Pierce Clarkson, the son of quarterback guru Steve Clarkson, as well as seventh-grade quarterback Kaden Martin, the son of USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin.

Rick Pitino Net Worth 2017: How Much Is Pitino Worth Now?

Rick Pitino, one of the most heralded American professional basketball coaches, is known for his accomplishments in the NCAA. Pitino was the coach for the ball teams of Boston University, Providence College, and the University of Kentucky, leading the Wildcats to the NCAA championship in 1996. However, his most notable presence is his title as the head coach for the University of Louisville since 2001.

Not only did he lead the Cardinals to the 2013 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship, but also holds the distinction of being the only male coach to bring three different schools to the Final Four. On top of these accolades, Pitino was the only coach to lead two teams (Kentucky and Louisville) to a NCAA National Championship. Outside of the NCAA, he was a coach of the NBA’s Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.

During 2013 Final Four, he was announced to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, which he was inducted five months later.

Rick Pitino’s Net Worth as of 2017: $25 Million

Rick Pitino’s net worth is worth a large sum of money: $25 million! Who wouldn’t want to be a professional basketball coach? I know I would be taking my clipboard out and drawing the “obtuse triangle” defense for my team to succeed on the court. What if the Cardinals win the NCAA title for the 2017-2018 season? Expect his net worth to sky-rocket. The future is coming, but let’s check out how his major past successes in the NCAA (since he is a current coach of University of Louisville), which molded his current stardom.

Pitino leads the Terriers as they become Regular Season Champions. This was Pitino’s first major achievement as a basketball coach.

Pitino’s second and last season with the Friars appeared in the Final Four; however, the team fell short of a NCAA title.

The experienced coach moves onto coaching Kentucky from the SEC conference. Throughout his eight seasons, he explicitly improved the team by guiding them to conference tournament championships, to three Final Four appearances, and the highest honor, a NCAA championship title in 1995-1996.

2001-Present

University of Louisville is his current home team. Pitino proves to be a valuable asset to its improving ball club. Out of his sixteen seasons thus far, he helped the Cardinals make it to the NCAA tournament thirteen times, nine consecutively. In addition, In the 2012-2013 season, the Cardinals acquired the NCAA Championship hardware.

All I can say is that Pitino is a current star in the basketball coaching world. Although he had his share of ups and downs, he undeniably performed well in both the NCAA and NBA standpoints. Evidently, in the NCAA landscape, he is rebuilding the Cardinals into a threat to major Division I basketball teams.

Xbox One X: Specs, New Features, Price & Must-See Details

$

Microsoft announced its rumored Xbox One X, previously known as Project Scorpio, during their E3 Press Conference presentation last Sunday, boasting a number of the new console’s features. We also learned the release date is November 7th of this year.

Until the Microsoft Press Conference, only rumors surrounding a mysterious project Microsoft was working on swirled around the press and in the minds of the fans, but nothing definitive was known about the elusive project. Now, not only do we know of a new console, we know the price, release date, specs and new games that support 4k. We also saw new gameplay footage from games played on the exciting console.

Xbox One X: Features & Specs

The Xbox One X offers the significant upgrade to be powerful enough to run “true 4k” resolution games at 60 fps, according to Microsoft.

Some of the key new features include 4k resolution gaming, a 2.3GHz processor and six of graphics power, 1.8 teraflops more than the rivaled PlayStation 4 Pro, making it the most powerful console on the market. The new console is also the smallest but heaviest in the Xbox family.

We also learned that Xbox isn’t making a profit off of the console sales, Xbox Chief Phil Spencer pointing out that the “money-making part is in selling games.”

Microsoft assured us too that the Xbox One X will support VR, integrating its own version of Windows 10 VR headsets with help from Dell.

Xbox One X: Impressions

A TechCrunch video hailed the new graphics of the console, saying “the visuals are amazing. It really looks beautiful” and that playing the games was an “indulgent visual experience.” Further on down the article however, they cautioned customers from paying the steep asking price if they don’t have the hardware to support 4k resolution gaming.

Chances are, people also won’t likely notice a difference in immersion compared to the PlayStation 4 Pro. ArsTechnica reflected this opinion, saying the increased graphics performance is “noticeable,” but nothing to “wow” over, especially not in the same way that gaming changed when consoles adapted to 1080p resolution.

The Xbox One X will be released on November 7th, 2017 with a heavy cost of $499. It’s recommended to check if your television is compatible with 4k gaming before purchasing the console.

Finding Extremist Posts: Facebook Launches Artificial Intelligence

Recently, Facebook has been bombarded with criticism from social media users for not doing enough to keep extremist content off of social media platforms. In light of the criticism, Facebook will introduce artificial intelligence in collaboration with human moderators, who will review content on a case-by-case basis. According to Monika Bickert, the head of Global Policy Management at Facebook, the website hopes that the system will be expand over time.

One of the prime applications of this technology is identifying content that clearly violates Facebook’s terms of use. This includes videos or images of horrendous beheadings, violent content and other disturbing events. The addition of this application stops users from uploading those materials onto the site.

One blog post from Thursday illustrated how Facebook’s artificial intelligence would teach itself to identify key phrases that were previously flagged for being used to bolster a known terrorist group. Not only that, the system could learn how to detect Facebook users who are part of a cluster of groups relating to extremist activities and movements. Those who create fake accounts to spread content throughout the web will be monitored and exposed as well.

Even though the technology is under development and is currently not in its established state, Brian Fishman, Facebook’s lead policy manager for counterterrorism, said the company had a team of 150 specialists working in 30 languages doing such reviews.

The partial reason behind Facebook’s new proposal was the criticism of the “safe spaces” allowed on the web. Prime Minister Theresa May of Britain challenged Facebook and other social media platforms to monitor suspicious activities, including probable terrorist bombings.

“We cannot allow this ideology the safe space it needs to breed,” May said after the bombing of a concert in Manchester that killed 22 people. “Yet that is precisely what the internet — and the big companies that provide internet-based services — provide.”

The controversial question is what exactly qualifies something as extremist.

Facebook is hopeful that with the implementation of artificial intelligence, any form of extremism that violates its company’s terms of use can be prevented. For now, the search for danger is narrowly focused.

What is your take? Will Facebook discourage people from joining terrorist groups or stop them from posting about terrorism through its artificial intelligence technology?

Congressional Baseball Game Live Stream: How To Watch The Game Online

Despite yesterday morning’s attack on GOP members by James T. Hodgkinson, who opened fire with a rifle, the 2017 Congressional Baseball Game will still take place tonight between the Republicans and Democrats. It was unclear whether the game would be canceled until just hours after the attack when it was announced that the game would still be played.

The game is an annual tradition that has been played since 1909, but has not actually been played every single year since its inception. Events like the Second World War, the Great Depression and other political events have prevented the game from being played.

This seemed like it would’ve been yet another event to discourage the game from being played, but that’s not going to stop these GOP members this time. We will tell you the ways you can live stream tonight’s game.

Draymond Green Lebron James Petty Wars

Just because the 2017 NBA Finals are over doesn’t mean that LeBron James and Draymond Green are done going at it.

During the Warriors Championship Parade, Draymond Green chose to wear a “Quickie” shirt in reference to the fact that his Warriors outed LeBron and the Cavaliers in just five games. The design is pretty simple, but this is a shirt that is probably going to be sold on the West Coast for at least 300 days. You can peep a glimpse at the shirt below:

But that was far from the end of it. In fact, the pettiness had just begun. But to fully explain to you exactly how low these two are willing to go, we’ve got to go back a little bit. Behold a visual history of The PettyWars:

#PettyWars: A Visual History

June 2016: Following a historic 3-1 comeback, LeBron James wears an “Ultimate Warrior” t-shirt on it after landing back in Cleveland. This is without a doubt a joke about the fact that his Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. Also, notice the Kermit Tea hat he’s wearing, referencing all the haters who doubted him.

October 2016: Members of the Cleveland Cavaliers host a Halloween party, featuring cookies with the names of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and drums “3-1 Lead” on them.

June 12, 2017: Surprising nearly everyone, 2017 NBA Champion Draymond Green says in a press conference that he won’t bash the Cavaliers. “You gotta give those guys a lot a credit.”

June 15, 2017 | 1 PM EST : Just three days later, Draymond Green hits the Bay Area streets wearing the “Quickie” t-shirt.

June 15, 2017 | 2:30 PM(ish): LeBron James ends his leave from Instagram with two posts: a selfie video featuring a bald LeBron working out, and this photo of Draymond. Notice the caption.

Also notice the people who liked the photo:

June 15, 2017 | 2:50 PM: Draymond Green confirms the purpose of his shirt, and the fact that he’s petty.

“You were waiting since Halloween to wear this shirt? That’s petty.” “I’m petty.”

Green also says that he had some other joke, but was too slow to get the design printed. Honestly, given the zero number of f**** that Draymond has, I don’t believe him.

June 15, 2017 | 3:30 PM EST: Draymond has now officially seen LeBron’s Instagram post. Green claps back with an Instagram post of his own.

June 15, 2017 | 3:45 PM EST: Here’s a quick look at Draymond’s Snapchat

June 15, 2017| 4:47 PM EST: Now Steve Kerr has joined in!

We’re still waiting on Ayesha Curry to drop some hot fire, but at this rate, it won’t be very long.

New York City Decriminalizes Peeing In Public, Saves Drunken Idiots Hundreds Of Dollars In Fines

Did you know that if you get three public urination tickets in New Jersey (or maybe everywhere, I don’t know) you have to register as a sex offender? Isn’t that just f*cking bananas?

Want to know how I know that? Because I had a friend who got popped with three public urinations and had to hire himself a fancy-pants lawyer just so he didn’t have to register himself as a diddler. Shit’s really real.

via New York Post:

Advocates claim the new procedure will divert 100,000 cases a year from the criminal justice system and prevent minor offenders from acquiring criminal records.

But another source pointed out that many law breakers will be emboldened because they’ll no longer have to appear in criminal court — which might require taking a day off work.

Now, they’ll simply have to appear at an administrative hearing at a convenient location near them.

The change is the result of the City Council’s controversial Criminal Justice Reform Act, which allows law breakers who’ve been cited for those and other low-level offenses to face justice in administrative hearings rather than in criminal court.

Now, while this may make New York City even worse than it already does, this will save do-gooding citizens who got a little too drunk a lot of trouble.

Parents Sue University Of Nevada Fraternity Over The Death Of Their Son

The family of Ryan Abele, a Sigma Nu pledge who died in October 2016, have filed a lawsuit against the Delta Xi Chapter of Sigma Nu, the Sigma Nu Housing Authority and members of the fraternity.

Abele, 18, was pledging at the Sigma Nu fraternity when he fell on a staircase at the fraternity house on Ralston Street in Reno. According to a University of Nevada investigation, the fall happened after a night of drinking, marijuana, and strippers.

Abele’s parents, who filed the lawsuit in the Second Judicial District Court of Nevada, are seeking medical and incidental expenses and general damages on claims of negligence, violating state and university hazing and alcohol laws and for dangerous and defective conditions of the fraternity house.

via Reno Gazette-Journal:

The lawsuit, filed on June 2, alleges that prior to the incident that led to Abele’s death, new fraternity members were given documentation and vowed to not participate in hazing, “neither misuse nor support the misuse of alcohol” and have a “’dry candidate program.”

The lawsuit named several members of the fraternity in the lawsuit because they allegedly “knew the statements were false” and were “integral parts of the pledge process they designed and implemented.”

Those members, who held leadership positions at the Sigma Nu house, include Karsten Chung, Joel Kaufmann, Joseph Dayton, Kyle Sharp and Eric Medina. Kyle Bryce, the chapter advisor for Sigma Nu, was also named in the lawsuit.

When Abele was admitted to the hospital, he had a blood alcohol level of .3 percent – nearly four times the legal limit.

Abele suffered traumatic brain injuries and died 12 days after the fall. The University of Nevada-Reno subsequently decided to suspend the Sigma Nu chapter for 15 years for violating the student code of conduct.
