James T. Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old Illinois man, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting at the Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, that left House Majority whip Steve Scalise and others injured.

According to witnesses, James T. Hodgkinson fired dozens, if not up to a hundred, shots from the third base dugout at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia, as the group was at batting practice around 7:00 A.M. EST. Hodgkinson began firing after asking the group if they were “Democrats or Republicans.”

Hodgkinson was eventually subdued by Capitol Police officers who were accompanying Scalise and was brought to a hospital for treatment. Hodgkinson has died from his injuries.

Along with Scalise, a congressional staffer for Texas Rep. Roger Williams and two Capitol Police officers were shot.

Via The Hill:

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) is in stable condition after being shot early Wednesday at a baseball practice field in a Washington D.C. suburb, according to multiple reports.

Scalise was one of several people shot at the practice in Alexandria, Va., where it is believed a single gunman fired as many as 50 shots at lawmakers and aides who scrambled for cover.

A police spokesman told The Washington Post that the shooter had been shot and was taken to the hospital. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), his voice breaking, told CNN that “at least five” people were shot at the field, while Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said six people had been wounded.

Lawmakers described a chaotic scene. Rep. Mel Brooks told CNN the shooter was near third base when the gunfire began.

“I see a rifle, and I see a little bit of a body and then I hear another bam and I realize there’s still an active shooter. At the same time I hear Steve Scalise over at 2nd base scream — he was shot,” Brooks said.

About James T. Hodgkinson

According to Hodgkinson’s Facebook page, he is a Belleville, Illinois native and owns a company, JTH Inspections, also called JTH Construction, and studied at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

He went to Belleville Township High School and also studied flight training at Southwestern Illinois College.

According to the Washington Post, he was charged with battery and aiding damage to a vehicle in April 2006 in St. Clair County, Illinois. However, the charges were eventually dismissed.

The shooter at the GOP congressional baseball practice this morning is James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill., according to law enforcement officials. Hodgkinson, 66, owns a home inspection business. His home inspection license expired in November 2016 and was not renewed, state records show.

Hodgkinson was charged in April 2006 with battery and aiding damage to a motor vehicle, according to online records in St. Clair County, Illinois. The charges were dismissed, records show.

Charles Orear, 50, a restaurant manager from St. Louis, described Hodgkinson as a “quiet guy” who was “very mellow, very reserved” when they stayed overnight at a Sanders supporter’s home in Rock Island, Illinois.

Hodgkinson was politically active on Facebook. His profile features a banner photo of Bernie Sanders, and he has shared articles about President Trump, including one in which he says ‘Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.’

Hodgkinson died from his injuries at the hospital.

President Donald Trump has issued an official statement on the shooting:

The Vice President and I are aware of the shooting incident in Virginia and are monitoring developments closely. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of Congress, their staffs, Capitol Police, first responders, and all others affected.

Every Single Student In This High School Class Is Headed To College

It was indeed a historical day for all parents, faculty, administrators, the District of Columbia Public Schools, and of course, Ballou Class of 2017! All 170 students, who had their graduation on Tuesday, June 13th, had something more to celebrate than just completing high school. Each student who crossed the podium with their cap and gowns received at least one college acceptance. In fact, this historical achievement is a first for this Southeast, D.C. public school.

Despite its recent success, life at school was not always smooth. Last year, only 3% of Ballou students qualified for reading standards in city-wide testing. On top of that, the school was surrounded by poverty and violence.

To add fuel to the fire, Washington Post cited that the school had the second lowest public high school graduation rate. More so, since August of last year, it was reported that nearly 200 public school faculty members quit their jobs; as a result, Ballou lost a quarter of its staff.

Through the thick and thin, this year’s class decided to help the staff in making their dreams a reality. Every student applied to college and was accepted. Some notable institutions that students were accepted to were Penn State, Virginia State, and Florida’s Bethune Cookman University.

Multiple people were shot near a San Francisco UPS facility. The shooting took place around 9 a.m, in the city’s Potero Hill neighborhood.

It appears that police now have the building under control. According to reports, the gunman opened fire on the third floor of the building. KCBS Radio reported that the shooter, a male believed to be a UPS driver, was taken into custody and was being transported to the hospital.

The San Francisco General Hospital was put on alert that there are as many as six expected victims, including the suspect.

Local law enforcement has control of the facility and is conducting an investigation. The company is cooperating with law enforcement.

As a result, five people were shot and two were killed by the active shooter, NBC Bay Area reported.

David Phister says he lives across the street and heard four shots fired at 9 a.m. Phister says the area where the shooting occurred was at garage doors at the corner of 17th and Utah, a part of the building for employees only.

Auto shop owner Robert Kim told KPIX he heard five to eight rapid gunshots, then saw “a mob of UPS drivers” running down the street screaming “Shooter, shooter.”

The San Francisco police are advising all residents to stay put and remain in shelter.

Dude Who Robbed A Bank Specifically To Get Away From His Wife Is Sentenced To Home Confinement

Lawrence John Ripple, 71-year-old man who said he robbed a Kansas City bank so he could get away from his wife, blamed his actions on depression after a judge sentenced him to home confinement.

On Tuesday, June 13, a federal judge sentenced Ripple to six months of home confinement and 50 hours of community service. He was also ordered to pay $227.27 to the bank. That money represented the billable hours for bank employees who were sent home on the day of the robbery. He also had to pay $100 to a crime victims fund.

In September of 2016, Ripple went to the Bank of Labor, a bank that sits block from the Kansas City, Kansas, police headquarters, and gave a note to a bank teller saying he had a gun. After Ripple was given the money demanded, he simply waited for police to arrive.

According to court records, Ripple wrote the robbery note he used in front of his wife and told her he would rather be in jail than at home with her.

via Kansas City Star:

Though Lawrence John Ripple pleaded guilty to bank robbery in January and could have spent up to 37 months in prison, his attorney and federal prosecutors asked a U.S. District Court judge for leniency. That request was supported by the vice president of the bank and the teller whom Ripple frightened, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Sheri Catania.

Ramsey told a judge Tuesday that before the September incident, Ripple had lived a law-abiding life. He had no criminal record, was a dutiful father to four step-children and was in a stable relationship with his wife.

He suffered from depression after undergoing a quadruple bypass heart surgery in 2015, Ramsey said. The depression remained undiagnosed and manifested as irritability, so Ripple didn’t think to report his symptoms to a doctor.

U.S. District Court Judge Carlos Murguia and U.S. Attorney Sheri Catania said that it was ‘extremely uncommon’ for a person convicted of bank robbery to receive a sentence that doesn’t involve prison time. Furthermore, Catania said this was only the third time she had requested the court to consider other sentencing options in her career.

WATCH: Lonzo Ball Put His Dad On Blast In Father’s Day Foot Locker Commercial

$

Father’s Day is a special time of year to honor all those dads who put in work to make your life great. But what if your dad is the super-obsessed, ego-fueled LaVar Ball? His sons are future NBA stars, and he’s such a guiding hand to Lonzo that he literally told him what college to go to, and he instructed 29 out of 30 NBA teams not to bother drafting his son.

Lonzo showed us the familiar (controlling/obsessed) side of his father, that we probably already knew, but Ball did it in hilarious fashion. You just can’t teach this type of deadpan comedy. I’m sure one of these days Saturday Night Live is going to love having Lonzo Ball as a future host. I mean, that show really needs it. I mean, yeah they’re not funny. But back to Lonzo and his Foot Locker ad…

This father’s day commercial is set to air on June 22nd during the NBA Draft. This probably won’t effect Lonzo’s standing in the draft…or will it?

The former Chino Hills and UCLA star shared a hilarious, dead-pan look into his life living with LaVar Bell. Meanwhile, Fellow prospects Jonathan Isaac, De’Aaron Fox and Jayson Tatum also told stories about their fathers (in a lot less funny fashion). One talked about playing one-on-one b-ball games with their dad on the driveway. Another told the camera how daddy was the one behind the wheel in driving his future NBA star to tournaments.

But when Ball speaks, all hilarity breaks loose. He highlights his fathers nationally-known ego. Lonzo also talks about the dedication his father has to his son’s professional future. Here’s a man who is borderline obsessed about his NBA aspirations. But there’s no crime against being a proud papa.

Lonzo is the king/prince of deadpan. He needs to be on SNL now. That show is in serious need of talent, even future NBA prospects will do.

The 19-year-old Ball shares with us “that special moment when your dad sits you down and tells you where you’re going to college, copyrights your name to make it part of a family lifestyle brand, went on ‘First Take’ and shouted back and forth with Stephen A. Smith about how you’re already better than the reigning league MVP, … and then tells 29 out of 30 teams not to bother drafting you.”

Of course, LaVar Ball was in on the joke the whole thing. A press release from Foot Locker confirms that Mr. Ball knew all about his son’s deadpan hi-jinks. Imagine how awkward things would be if big daddy Ball was against his son poking fun at him on the worldwide web. Ball won’t have any issue when this commercial airs during the NBA Draft in eight days. Or will he?

Lonzo Ball said in the Foot Locker press releases that, “My dad and I both love the humor of the spot and I’m glad I got to have a little fun around the topic before going to the league.”

Steve Kerr Net Worth 2017: How Much Is Kerr Worth Now?

$
0
0

Steve Kerr is no stranger to success on the NBA level. Whether it was as a player in the league for teams like the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs, or as a coach for the Golden State Warriors, the man knows a thing or two about championships. He’s won seven titles and although he’s recently had some troubling medical history, he’s been on record saying this won’t stop him and plans to coach for many years to come.

Steve Kerr Net Worth as of 2017: $18 Million

With this amount of success, you would think that he’s done well for himself financially, and you’d be right. He was never confused with a star got huge contracts or endorsement deals, but with his knack for consistency in one of the most competitive leagues, he’s certainly earned every penny he’s gotten. Let’s take a look as to how Kerr got to this point.

1988-1993

Instagram Photo

Kerr was drafted in the second round to the Phoenix Suns. Kerr didn’t play much for the Suns his first season, just 26 games at 6 mins a game. Phoenix would trade him just after a year to the Cleveland Cavaliers where his playing time and games played would increase.

After just playing five games for Cleveland in the ’92-’93 season, he would get traded to the Orlando Magic where yet again he wasn’t getting many minutes.

1993-1998

Instagram Photo

After finishing off the season with the Magic, Kerr was finally a free agent and chose to sign with the Chicago Bulls. He would play the most games and most minutes in his young career seeing improvement in all his statistical categories. He would see the playoffs the first two seasons as a Bull, but this was during Michael Jordan’s first retirement and Chicago wouldn’t reach the Finals.

Then in the 1996 season, Jordan returned and led this team to a 72-10 record and Finals win over the Settle SuperSonics. This would start the domino effect for Kerr in terms of a ring count, and the following season, he would make an imprint for his second ring. In the 1997 Finals, the Bulls faced off against the Utah Jazz and Steve Kerr hit the game-winning jumper in Game 6. Kerr would finish off his Bulls career in the ’97-‘98 season by winning his third straight ring, yet again against the Jazz.

1998-2003

Instagram Photo

In the 1998 season, Kerr was on the trade block once again and would be sent to the San Antonio Spurs. There he helped the Spurs get to their first finals and achieve their first championship in franchise history.

Being traded was becoming as consistent for Kerr as winning championship as the Spurs shipped him to the Portland Trailblazers in the offseason heading into the ’01-’02 season. He would play 65 games as a Trailblazer before getting sent back to San Antonio the following season.

The ’02-’03 season would be his last and would finish it as a champion yet again, ending his playing career with 5 rings. Kerr’s career totals would be 6 ppg, 1.8 ppg and 0.5 ppg. The most impressive part of his game however is that he has the highest 3 point percentage for a career in NBA history at 45%.

2003-2007

Instagram Photo

After he retired, Kerr would take his talents to broadcasting as he was an analyst for TNT. After a few years of this, Kerr would get an offer to return to the NBA, but not as a player.

2007-2010

Instagram Photo

Kerr became the General Manager to the team he was drafted to in Phoenix. He would make some pretty big roster moves by trading Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to the Miami Heat to get All-Star Shaquille O’Neal. He wouldn’t stop here as he also traded Raja Bell, Boris Diaw, and Sean Singletary to the Charlotte Bobcats for Jason Richardson, Jared Dudley and the Bobcat’s 2010 second round pick.

By the time 2010 rolled around, Kerr believed it was time for him to step down from the GM position in Phoenix.

2010-2014

Instagram Photo

Steve Kerr returned behind the camera to TNT as an analyst. He would call NBA games along with NCAA tournament games for the next couple years until he received his most recent call from the NBA. He would be heading back out West, this time to California.

2014-Present

Instagram Photo

In the 2014 season, Kerr would be a first time head coach for the up and coming Golden State Warriors. Kerr used what he learned from Phil Jackson, Gregg Popovich and Alvin Gentry throughout the years and led the Warriors to a 67-15 record and first title in 40 years.

The following seasons have been fruitful as well by beating his infamous Bulls season record with a 73-9 season and most recently winning his second title as a coach and seventh overall. The Warriors won the 2017 NBA Finals by only losing one game in the playoffs.

New Cabinet Member Sen. Kermit!

At least this is more subtle than the John Miller phone calls. I look forward to hearing what the newest cabinet member has to say.

This caption is pretty harsh, but we included it solely for our love of the newest cabinet member, from the iridescent greenish hue of his skin, to the embracing orange embers of his eyes. The eyes of a leader.

Remarkable policy maker and advocate for the betterment of the planet! Is there anything this guy can’t do!?

Check out the facial expression. This frog means business.

Looks like Sen. Kermit has the chipotle runs. Don’t worry man, I’ve been there too dude.

Simple. Happy frog= A Hoppy Covfefe.

Becca Longo, the first woman to earn a NCAA scholarship to play football, spoke to Bleacher Report about her critics.

In the interview, the 18-year-old Longo said despite her critics saying she’s merely a ‘publicity stunt’, she’s not going to let that bother her.

‘I’ve heard people say that I’m just a publicity stunt, that I don’t deserve this chance,’ Longo said. ‘I don’t let that bother me. I just need to stay true to who I am – and stay true to what I’ve learned and keep improving – and I’ll be just fine. I really believe that. I really do.’

Back in March of 2017, the 5-foot-11, 140-pound Longo, became the first woman to earn a NCAA scholarship to play for a Division II school.

Longo committed to Adams State University in Colorado, where she will play for Coach Timm Rosenbach, a former NFL quarterback. Rosenbach says he sees a lot of promise in Longo.

‘If you can play football and you have determination, I don’t care what your gender is,’ Rosenbach said. ‘And Becca can play, simple as that. She’s got accuracy and she’s got a powerful leg, which will only get stronger. We brought her to Adams State for a reason: to compete for a job and help us win football games.’

Longo hit 30 of 33 point-after tries and connected on a 30-yard field goal during her senior season. She says she was inspired to play football by her older brother Bobby, who played football in California.

Longo also intends to play college basketball at Adams State, as she averaged 2.9 points per game and 1.6 rebounds per game as a senior at Basha High School.

Alexandra Culhane, a 24-year-old teacher’s aide working at New York school for children with special needs, was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old student.

Culhane, 24, was taken into custody on Monday, June 13, and charged with felony rape and criminal sex acts. The charges stem from an alleged sexual encounter with the teenage boy about one year ago.

According to Prosecutor John Carson, Culhane, who worked at The School at Northeast in Schenectady, engaged in oral sex and sexual intercourse with the unnamed victim in early April of 2016. The two allegedly had the sexual encounter in Schenectady, New York’s Central Park.

via the Albany Times Union:

Her arrest comes one week after a teacher from the same school was arrested for allegedly assaulting another teenager in the hall, state prosecutors said. Both defendants worked at The School at Northeast, a special education school in Schenectady that serves children from grades 6 to 12.

The school is run by Northern Rivers Family of Services, a child and family services conglomerate with offices 12 eastern New York counties.Northern Rivers is licensed by the state Education Department.

Staff reported Culhane’s alleged behavior to city police in 2016, Carson said. The district attorney’s office, the Schenectady Police Department and the state Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs investigated the case.

The School at Northeast in Schenectady suspended Culhane during the investigation and then fired her in February.

Culhane also coached the girls’ junior varsity field hockey team at Scotia-Glenville High School in the fall of 2015 and 2016.

Paulina Karina Diaz

Paulina Karina Diaz, a 27-year-old Colombian model and presenter, has been arrested in connection with an unsolved double kidnap.

Colombia’s special kidnap police force arrested Diaz and a man nicknamed ‘La Bruja’ (The Witch), accusing her of using her good looks to ‘lure’ men into a trap.

The charges stem from an investigation into an alleged blackmailing and kidnapping that took place in 2011. According to Colombian police, Diaz and La Bruja participated in the kidnapping of businessman Hugo Lopez Moncayo and lawyer Milton Caro Villamil in December of 2011. Police captured the pair at a bar in Cali, Colombia.

Diaz, 27, who is a present for Channel 2, also works as a model and presents the sports section on a show called Guia Magazin. Representatives for the channel released a statement claiming Diaz worked for free in an effort to increase her social media following.

Two other people have already been convicted in connection to the case and sentenced to 23 years in jail.

New York Teacher Quits Her Job After Being Caught Leaking Exam Answers

Alyssa Palma
Alyssa Palma, a Bronx, New York teacher who provided the questions of a history exam hours before the test, has quit her job.

According to a report from The Special Commissioner of Investigation, Palma released the questions to an exam to a student, who then posted the information on her Facebook page.

Palma was a teacher at the Bronx Envision Academy at the time of the incident.

The student who was provided the questions later posted the information on Facebook, urging friends to share it. However, two students who spotted the posting alerted another teacher.

“THEMATIC ESSSAY ON U.S. HISTORY REFORM MOVEMENTS FROM 1820s-1993!! DBQ ESSAY ON US HISTORY: SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR, KOREAN WAR, PERSIAN GULF WAR!! SHAREEEEEE,” the Facebook post said.

via NY Post:

Palma was slated to later score the test but was pulled from duty after state education officials were alerted to a Facebook posting that revealed testing topics the morning of the exam. A pair of unsettled students told another test proctor about the suspect posting before they took the exam, according to the SCI report.

The instructor initially dismissed the information as bogus — but later noticed that the Facebook post was on the mark. When the posting student arrived to take the test, administrators confronted her about the apparent leak.

She initially said she was given the questions by her brother before switching her tale and claiming she overheard them from students on a school bus, according to the SCI report.

Palma resigned shortly after the incident and was not interviewed by investigators as they could not locate her.

Michael Aciman, a Department of Education spokesman, said of the incident: ‘Ensuring academic integrity at our schools is critical, and this incident was reported and investigated.’

Aciman confirmed Palma no longer worked for the department.

Ohio Judge Is Requiring Drunk Drivers To Download Uber & Lyft

A Painesville, Ohio judge has taken a millennial approach to his sentencings, as he has begun to force people charged with DWI to download Uber and Lyft.

Judge Michael A. Cicconetti, a veteran Ohio judge, one day realized that there are going to be some people who you simply cannot stop from drinking, so he has begun to do the next best thing — stop them from drinking and driving.

Beginning in late May, Cicconetti began requiring OVI offenders to download the Uber and Lyft to their smartphones and enter a credit card number as a condition of probation to inspire them not to drink and drive.

via Painesville News-Herald:

“There was a fellow in here that I knew from Fairport. I see him at the clubs and organizations I belong to,” said Cicconetti. “You’re not going to stop this person from drinking. Years ago I came to the realization that some people — it just doesn’t make sense to send them to these alcohol programs because they’re not going to stop drinking, period. What you want to do is stop them from drinking and driving.

“This guy was drinking at the Hungarian Culture Club. I said, ‘Steve, for God’s sake, you only live a few blocks down, why didn’t you just call Uber or Lyft and get a ride? It can’t cost you more than three dollars!’ He said, ‘I don’t know how to do it.’ I said, ‘I tell you how you’re gonna do it. You’re gonna go back to probation here today and they’re gonna show you how to do it. And I want you to install that.’

In 2016, there were 604 citations for OVI issued for defendants who appeared in Painesville Municipal Court.

Cicconetti said the repeat drunk driving offenders gave him the idea. He said he hopes all municipal judges start requiring OVI offenders to activate such ride service apps.

Cicconetti has become known for his brand of justice, which he refers to as ‘creative justice’. Cicconetti will often leave the choice of penalty up to the defendant, who is faced with spending time in jail or undergoing one of Cicconetti’s unusual punishments. These options often involve placing the defendant in a similar position to that of the defendant’s victim at the time of the crime.

He once offered a 26-year-old Ohio housewife the option of spending a night in the woods for abandoning 35 kittens in a forest in wintertime. In another case, he ordered noisy neighbors to spend a day of silence in the forest or listen to classical music instead of rock.

And his methods appear to be effective, too. While the national for repeat offender rate is over 75%, the rate in Judge Cicconetti’s court is at 10%.

Am I Allowed To Think Sylvester Stallone’s Daughter Is Hot? Because She Totally Is

I didn’t even know Sylvester Stallone had daughters.

And not only does he have daughters, but he has THREE of them.

And not only does Sly have three daughters, but one of them is a total smoke. Stallone’s oldest daughter Sophia, 20, is coming into her own these days, and let me be the first to say, sup?

But how does one even approach the daughter of one of the scariest dudes in American history? Remember the scene from Bad Boys 2, where Mike & Marcus f*ck with Reggie, the dude who shows up to take Martin Lawrence’s daughter on a date?

That’s how I picture asking out Sophia Stallone, except instead of two fictional Miami cops busting your balls at the front door, it’s Stallone and his buddy Arnold Schwarzenegger and it’s a wholeeee lot scarier.

With all that said, Sophia still looks like she’s totally worth the risk.

So, Sophia Stallone, sup? Wanna go out sometime?
