App ‘Class120′ Alerts Parents, Professors When Students Skip Class

Class 120 App
University professor Jeff Whorley recently created an app to destroy your life: Class120, a program that’s sole purpose is to rat you out to your parents and professors. As the site explains, students’ class times and locations are programmed into the app, and tracks whether or not the student has shown-up for class at the designated time. The invention came about after Whorley did some research on how often students play hookie. He found that they typically skip up to two classes a week, making that a grand total of 200 classes a year. Considering the astronomical price tag attached to that shiny green campus – and the probability of actually graduating vastly decreasing – you can see why parents would be drooling all over the chance to download the thing.

But this is college – is a babysitting app really necessary? The website states that going to class is the most important factor to your future academic success, but that’s a no-brainer; we don’t need Big Brother to help us figure that out. Thanks though, dude.
