Marshawn Lynch has had his issues with the media and actually answering their questions. The Seattle Seahawks running back has been fined on numerous occasions for not talking to the media and since his latest $100,000 fine, he has been giving short answers to every question like “Thanks for asking” and “I’m thankful.” [lead image via Jonathan Ferrey / Getty Sports]
A Seattle fan however wants to help Lynch out and has started a petition on GoPetition.com calling for the NFL to revise their media policy where if players don’t want to talk, they don’t have to. The petition has over 46,000 signatures as of Thursday morning. There is a very fine line that needs to be walked in this situation however.
The media has an obligation to get the information out to the public with what is happening with the team and the players but there are simply some players who are uncomfortable with it no matter the situation. Lynch is a great example of that. There are 52 other players in the locker room that the media can talk to. The petition has some great points but a compromise is necessary. Lynch has to give real answers once a season and then the media has to leave him alone.
