Texas v Oklahoma State

What kind of year did the Texas Longhorns have? It doesn’t matter when you have the school spirit that the University of Texas puts behind their college team. The program is estimated to be America’s most profitable, thanks to huge donor base and some Big 12 television contracts. [photo: Brett Deering/Getty]

We’re not just making up those figures, either. We don’t have to, thanks to the brilliant bean counters at Forbes. They’ve put together a really sharp list of 2014’s Most Valuable College Football Teams. Here’s a Top Ten, if you want to start making bar bets…

Texas: $131 million
Notre Dame: $122 million
Michigan: $117 million
Alabama: $107 million
LSU: $103 million
Auburn: $97 million
Tennessee: $94 million
Oklahoma: $93 million
Ohio State: $87 million
Georgia: $83 million

The fine folks of Forbes have the rest broken down in very fun fashion. Check it out, and think about what a shame it is that we can’t just pick up the Ohio State franchise and wrap it up as a present for you–even if you would probably just turn around and put it up on eBay. That’s why we didn’t buy you that vintage iPod, either.
