Seth Rogen and James Franco disappeared from the Tonight Show‘s lineup last night, but Jimmy Fallon recovered nicely with guests Paul McCartney and the Christmas duo of Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga. The proper musical guests had a personal connection to us, too. As you’ll see in the video below, Tony Bennett discusses the random encounter with a New York City cabbie that inspired him to usually feature one song per concert where he doesn’t use a microphone.
Yeah. We’ve seen Tony do that a lot in live shows, but didn’t know where he got the idea. That’s cool to know. And then Lady Gaga stepped in with a tale of advice that she got from a stripper–and it was a stripper from Atlanta, Georgia’s notorious Clermont Lounge. We’ve spent lots of time there. We know it’s a real hipster hangout, but that’s really only a problem on weekends. Otherwise, it’s a fun place, and we’re happy to see Lady Gaga keeping the place looking fashionable.
It’s a good story, too. Check it out and find yourself not missing Franco & Rogen–although we’re still wondering what kind of huge sketch got dumped after they ditched over The Interview….
