Katie Cassidy was born on November 25, 1986 as a real pop-culture scion–courtesy of her dad being ’70s pop star David Cassidy, whose stepmother Shirley Jones costarred with him on the bubblegum music show The Partridge Family. But the important thing is that we’ve all gotten to meet Katie as a very modern sex symbol and a pop-culture figure in her own right. She first got our attention with a hot recurring role on Supernatural, and then enjoyed a long stint on the underseen slasher series Harper’s Island. That was enough to make Katie a genre star. Then she did some dull stints on Gossip Girl and the revamped Melrose Place before landing back in fantasyland on Arrow. (Alongside other fantasy gals like Caity Lotz, Celina Jade, Rila Fukushima, and Katrina Law.)
Katie’s been doing some great work as the sultry superhero Black Canary on that show. She also did some fine acting in the underseen thriller The Scribbler, and we’re hoping that Hollywood will keep coming up with offbeat roles for this fun gal.
