San Francisco Giants Get $388,606 Each For World Series Win

The last five years have been some of the most successful in the history of the San Francisco Giants with three World Series championships. The players on those teams have been paid very well for their postseason play, and it was announced on Monday that a full postseason share for the Giants was worth a record $388,606. That’s the kind of big money that gets covered by publications like Forbes[photo: Dilip Vishwanat/Getty]

That topped the previous record by the Giants from two years ago. The Kansas City Royals each got $230,700 apiece for their losing effort. It is still a big chunk of money for the October stretch of games with the player pool being $62 million. The pool is basically 50 percent of gate receipts from the wild card games and 60 percent from the first three games of the divisional series and the first four games of the championship series and World Series.

Obviously, it is quite possible for those numbers to go up in the coming years if bigger market teams make it into the playoffs and more fans are in the stands for their games. Right now though, no one would be shocked if the playoff share was over $400,000 for the 2015 season. MLB players definitely aren’t starving for money.
