In late September, Green Bay Packers linebacker Za’Darius Smith was cited for speeding and marijuana possession while driving back to Green Bay following a game against the division rival Chicago Bears.

Smith was driving the vehicle while Packers rookies Rashan Gary and Kingsley Keke were passengers.

After being pulled over for going 81 mph in a 60 mph zone, Smith admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day. He and the passengers were then cuffed and put in the back of a squad car while his vehicle was searched.

While police were searching the vehicle, they discovered a THC cartridge and three blunts. Smith was surprised to learn that there was marijuana in the vehicle, but being the captain that he is, he took the blame for all of the marijuana and paraphernalia that was in the vehicle.

“Put it on me,” Smith told the officer.

Because of the findings, Smith was given a simple citation for speeding and marijuana and the three players were allowed to go on their way.

There is no word on whether Smith will face discipline from the team or league as a result of his citations.

Up next for the Packers is a home game against the Carolina Panthers. Kickoff at Lambeau Field on Sunday, November 10 is set for 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
