A brewery in the DMV area is taking a swipe at the Washington Redskins and owner Dan Snyder with their latest beer. Harpers Ferry Brewing announced their “Sell The Team” IPA which features a hilarious description that pulls no punches regarding the team’s disappointing 1-8 start to the season.
The Northern Virginia brewery is launching the beer which is “bitter and slightly disappointing like a trip to FedEx field.”
The special brew — which boasts a hefty 9.5% ABV — was launched this week after Washington’s latest loss.
“Tomorrow will be the release of Sell The Team! This double west coast IPA finished at 9.5% to get you through another dreadful Sunday. Bitter and slightly disappointing like a day at fedex field,” the brewery wrote on Instagram.
From the Washingtonian:
The brewery, which Gabriel says offers splendid views of downtown Harpers Ferry, doesn’t yet have distribution in the DC area, but you can try the beer on site or bring in/buy a growler to enjoy it at home. Note: The brewery is only a 47-minute drive from the Redskins’ Ashburn HQ, but the beer packs a 9.5 percent alcohol punch, so anyone there who wants to try it should bring a driver.
Dan Snyder has long been regarded as one of the worst owners in sports — while Bruce Allen has come under fire for his own mishaps as general manager — and now Harpers Ferry Brewery is hoping to cash in on the local fans’ frustrations.
While the Redskins attempt to get back on track, they will have the benefit of enjoying a bye week in Week 10. Then, they will return to action on Sunday, November 17 against the also struggling New York Jets. Kickoff at FedEx Field is set for 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX. We’ll have to see how many fans are feeling saucy from their pre-game “Sell The Team” IPAs.
