Grammy Award-winning artist Ludacris has a new gig. On Wednesday, October 16, it was announced that Ludacris, whose real name is Chris Bridges, has been named the artist-in-residence at Georgia State University’s Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) in the fall.
According to the announcement, Luda will be “working closely with CMII professors, focusing on entrepreneurship in the music and film industries, as well as mentoring students.”
The rapper and actor will also be participating in lectures at Creative Media Industries Institute as students try to learn about the industry. Considering Ludacris’ history in entertainment, students will be getting some valuable information.
“Chris [Ludacris Bridges] is an incredibly talented artist and has so much industry knowledge to share,” executive director of the institute Brennen Dicker said in a statement. “We are excited to see how our students, and really the entire institute, will benefit from this great new partnership.”
Ludacris added: “Georgia State is one of the most innovative and diverse universities in the country. I couldn’t imagine a better place to work with students than CMII.”
The 42-year-old, who was born in Champaign, Illinois, attended Georgia State University in the late 1990s where he studied music management. He later moved to the Chicago area, and then spent one year in Virginia before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia where he attended Banneker High School.
Luda has plenty of experience in film and television as the host of Fear Factor, while also starring in Crash, Hustle & Flow, and part of The Fast and the Furious series.
Ludacris will be appearing in the ninth installment of Fast and the Furious which will hit theaters on May 22, 2020. He also plans to drop his 10th studio album in 2020. Meanwhile, the students at Georgia State University’s Creative Media Industries Institute will have a great opportunity to learn from one of the best.
