Every time Antonio Brown finds his way into the headlines, the former Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, and New England Patriots wide receiver’s public image becomes more and more bizarre. Now, we are learning about his legal team attempting to block a September deposition video from public release.
According to a report from TMZ Sports, Brown’s team is fighting to keep the deposition where he appeared “belligerent”, “defiant”, and “profane” under wraps. Brown’s attorneys believe the public release of the video would hurt Brown’s chances of receiving a fair trial for allegedly throwing furniture out a window of The Mansions at Acqualina in Miami, Florida.
Brown, who is accused of causing $35,000 in damages, says he is willing to redo his deposition.
“Rather than answering the questions posed, the defendant chanted, over and over, as if a mantra, a narrative of his own warped concert of the proceedings,” the attorney for the landlord accusing Brown of causing the damage previously said, via the New York Post.
A hearing regarding Brown’s deposition will reportedly take place later this week.
Brown forced his way out of Oakland after a preseason filled with absurd drama stemming from the wide receiver’s frost-bitten feet to threatening to retire over an issue with his league-approved helmet. The Raiders acquired Brown in the offseason via a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers but they ultimately decided the headaches weren’t worth it.
Brown then was a member of the New England Patriots before his second release in weeks after multiple sexual assault allegations and reportedly sending threatening messages to one of his accusers.
Throughout his career in the NFL, Brown has hauled in 837 catches for 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns. Last season, Brown recorded 104 catches for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns. In each of the last 6 seasons, Brown has recorded at least 100 catches and 1,000 yards. The Patriots opened the season with a blowout win over Brown’s former team, the Steelers.
