When people are trying to be healthier, they can undergo some major diet changes. For Jaden Smith, that led to removing meat products from his meal plans and turning vegan. As it turns out, that led to his parents being concerned.
During a recent episode of the show Red Table Talk, Will Smith revealed that the family — Willow Smith, Trey Smith, Jaden, and Adrienne Banfield-Jones — had to stage an intervention.
According to Will Smith, Jaden’s eating habits caused so much concern for his family because he was not getting proper nutrients.
“Will and I had a bit of an intervention with Jaden because he’s a vegan now, but we realized he wasn’t getting enough protein,” Jada said, as transcribed by Complex. “So he was wasting away. He just looked drained, he was just depleted, he wasn’t getting the nutrients.”
Will added: “There was even a little grayness to his skin. We got really nervous. But you’re definitely looking better now.”
Jaden also explained his eating habits.
“I also just wanna say that I’m vegetarian, that I’ve tried to be vegan,” Jaden said. “I’m vegetarian, you know, I’ve tried to eat vegan meals. I’ll go vegan for a week or so but for the past year I’ve been vegetarian.” “I was just eating like two meals a day…maybe one. Maybe just that one big meal and I’m like, ‘Oh, you know, I didn’t get around to it.’”

The episode continued to focus on the Smith family’s eating habits with Jada opening up about her own concerns.
“That’s why you see how limited my eating is,” Jada said. “I eat the same thing every day because that is the food that brings me peace, keeps my stomach calm because everything else just agitates it and upsets it.”
