17-year-old Deangelo Parnell turned himself in to authorities on Saturday morning in connection to a shooting at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama on Friday, August 30. The shooting broke out at the end of a football game between LeFlore and Williamson High School.

After shots were fired, nine teens were injured with five of the victims critically injured; one of the victims suffered a seizure. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

The victims aged from 15 to 18.

As a result of the gunfire, Parnell has been charged with nine counts of attempted murder, according to WKRG-5.

The Mobile Police Department continues to investigate the incident but said that “it appears that a fight was about to occur when (Parnell) just indiscriminately pulled out. It did not appear he had an intended target.”

Parnell turned himself in at the Mobile Metro Jail at around 3:30 a.m.

A bond hearing is scheduled for Monday.

“Why are the young people bringing this type of violence to public events. They’re bringing their beefs that they have with each other in their neighborhoods and they’re putting other people in harm’s way,” Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste told reporters after the incident. This is unacceptable for people to not to be able to come out and enjoy an event. “We’re going to have to be more aggressive on our end, the city, as to how we hold the individual accountable when they go before the courts. We have got to make sure they understand that we will not tolerate juvenile violence in our community.

“This is unacceptable for people to not to be able to come out and enjoy an event watching their children play at a football game and watching their children perform in the band.”
