Jessica Andrade claimed the UFC women’s strawweight championship with an incredible second-round knockout of former titleholder Rose Namajunas. Andrade was able to elevate Namajunas, who was searching for an armbar, before a perfect slam that knocked the former champ on her head and knocked her unconscious. Andrade earned $50,000 bonuses for Fight of the Night and Performance of the night for her efforts.
With that spectacular finish, Andrade put the 125-pound division on notice.
It was the second consecutive knockout for Andrade, who has been racking up finishes throughout her UFC career.
Since joining the UFC in July 2013, Andrade has scored five finishes — two submissions, one TKO and two knockouts. Andrade has knocked out Namajunas and former title contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz, while submitting Larissa Pacheco and Joanne Calderwood.
