So what is Mario Kart Tour? To put it simply, Mario Kart Tour is the newest mobile game project from Nintendo, and it finally has a release date. This Mario Kart-branded racing game will feature stages based on real cities like London, Paris, New York City, Tokyo, and many more cities and will also include some of the franchises top stages from previous installments. This new mobile game will be available for iOS and Android devices on September 25th, world-wide; however, it’s unclear what will be included in the title at release or if it will differ from the game’s beta version from earlier this year.
You see when the beta was released back in May, fans were not pleased with the game’s monetization system. To obtain vehicle parts (tires, bodies, gliders, etc.), and drivers players had to pay real-world money to get in-game currency to pay for a chance to get any of this content. And it seems that this in-game content is crucial to make your racing experience better. Now, this could have been changed since May; though, microtransactions are typical for mobile games.
Beyond the bad news of microtransactions, Mario Kart Tour is gearing up to be an excellent addition to the franchise. In a statement from Nintendo, the stages “will be featured in tours that rotate every two weeks!” this will keep the stage selection fresh and never tiresome. Plus, the characters that can be purchased seems to be typical of a Mario Kart title. This means that staple characters from the ‘Mario Gang’ will be available and other characters like ‘King Boo,’ ‘Koopa,’ ‘Diddy Kong,’ ‘Shy Guy,’ and more will be playable when purchased. Let’s not forget that items have been a staple in the franchise since the beginning and there seems to be plenty of them with special items included.
The game doesn’t release for another month, but fans can pre-register for the title right now. Just go to mariokarttour.com to register. All you have to do is link your already existing Nintendo Account with the game to pre-register. If you don’t have a Nintendo Account setting one up is easy, and you can do so on the Mario Kart Tour website.
Additional information that fans should know is that this game may not run properly on all iOS and Android devices.
